Although I'm not exactly a fan of the author's style of artwork, she does have some good ideas. This book encouraged me to make my first attempt at using a soldering iron (with mixed results, I must say). Good explanations and good ideas made this a useful title for me.

A lovely book with very do-able ideas and interesting projects made from an enviable collection of vintage ephemera. Author Josie Cirincione has a simple and attractive style, and her instructions are clear so you can jump right in and create without much difficulty. The book has tutorials on making a variety of things, from collaged tags and altered postcards to a book cover using gasket material and soldered jewelry charms. Other than a few projects that require more unusual supplies like flux and a soldering iron, most can be accomplished with materials easily found in craft stores.

The techniques covered are not very varied; there are many better collage and mixed-media instructional books out there - I like Collage Lab and Surface Treatment Workshop - but this is a nice book to get some inspiration.

This book has a lot of cool ideas for art projects using vintage photos and ephemera. It also has nicely detailed photos of step-by-step instructions for creating jewelry and shadow-boxes etc. On my "to-buy" list.

This is another one of those books that is great to have around for inspiration and some really great information on how to assemble a collage to have the right elements. A book to have for reference.

This might be a good intro book to collage, but the art is just not my style.
