This entertaining account of the Russian Revolution outlines conditions in Russia at the turn of the century, the revolution of 1905 and the parliament that it gave birth to, the role of Rasputin, the condition of the Army, the conflict between the provisional government and the Soviets and effects of Lenin's return from exile. The book concludes with an outline of the Soviet regime and its goals of transforming the culture of the new society and promoting world revolutions.
thank you shukman! i found this to be a lovely summary of what i've learnt so far in a-level history and due to this, i'm so glad i read it! shukman writes in a really easy to read style with hardly any waffle and i really appreciate that :') would 100% recommend, a fast read that is worth your time <3
Clearly written by someone with a enormous bias. He is adequately describing every thing negative of the USSR. But from the many positives there have been. He mentions zero. It's a ideological motivated book. Not an honest assessment of what transpired.
