Whenever it comes to books on the Holy Spirit, there seem to be two tendencies. On the one hand, there are those books that at best avoid the Pentecostal/Charismatic aspects of the subject and at worst are downright antagonistic. If you would like some good toilet paper along these lines, grab yourself a copy of John Macarthur's Strange Fire. I wouldn't recommend it, however. You can always get some much more comfortable TP at a much cheaper price from your local Walmart or Target. Unless, of course, there is another COVID19 scare or something going on.

On the other hand, there are those Pentecostal writers who set pen to paper and come out with a book that is at best, just plain weird, and at worst downright heretical. Just look at the New Apostolic Reformation and I won't mention any names, but trust me... they're out there. David Diga Hernandez does a good job of writing on the Holy Spirit from a Pentecostal perspective while not getting all weird. He has a writing style that is easily readable and his use of scripture is, for the most part, solid. One little complaint I have in this regard is that he occasionally takes singular events from scripture and makes them representative of how things should be. Yes, God can work in specific ways (his example of Peter's shadow comes to mind) but that does not mean He always will, or even often should, work in the same way. But this is a minor issue in an otherwise great book.

I would still recommend Francis Chan's Forgotten God as my top pick for teaching on the Holy Spirit, but this is probably a number two and the best from a Pentecostal perspective. Get it, read it, and then pass it along.

If I could give it a 4.5, I would. Holy Spirit is One whom I have never known much about, beyond receiving Him upon salvation. This book really gave me a deeper understanding and has set me upon a path towards a closer walk with the Lord.

Not only is this book a wonderful teaching on Who the Holy Spirit is, but it will also cause you to look into yourself and see more clearly certain aspects of your walk with Him and what you can do to walk ever closer to Him. I highly recommend this book to anyone who doesn't completely understand the Holy Spirit and especially to those who, at times, feel that He has distanced Himself from you.

I have loved the Lord since I was a small child, over half-a-century, but never truly understood Holy Spirit the way I do after reading this book by David Diga Hernandez. You need and deserve to have this knowledge he imparts. Definitely a "keeper" in my opinion.

I appreciate the flow of the book to describe from scripture the difference between body, soul, spirit. It made a distinct line for me in my mind about how the spirit operates in our lives if we allow him. Easy read tons of scripture.

Friends indeed

As I read this book it is evident through the spirit and the experiences of David that he is a friend of Holy Spirit. The Spirit bears witness to the friendship. What better person to tell you about a friend than a friend

This is a great book, it's very inspirational. Pastor Hernandez explains the Holy Spirit better than any other Pastor I've read or listened to. Whether you're new to the Christian faith or an old timer like me, I highly recommend "Carriers of the Glory".
