I devoured this book. Every page made my heart burn. Lou Engle is an intercessor with the unique ability to mobilize the army of Christ for other worldly battles(Eph. 6:12) I felt like I was listening to William Wallace inspire his band to courage just at the moment they were entering battle against the oppressors. This book will light a fire under genuine Christ followers to train our spiritual muscles with precise prayer and spiritual disciplines. I am changed.

This was a good book but I felt that it could have been much shorter. Lou's passion is incredible but sometimes it gets lost in the pages of the book... on the positive side, I'm convicted, I'm stirred, I'm excited to take up fasting as a regular discipline - to see breakthrough as many in the church fast together and believe for a great move of God!

This book is filled with faith; it is bold, provocative, and has transformed how I view fasting as both a formidable weapon and a necessary lifestyle. A book that necessitates action, because now is the opportune moment. “Oh, Jesus, let it rain!”

Excellent book. Very challenging. I think a lot of Christians pray only because it is their 'duty'. Christians are supposed to pray. So we do. But, when prayer is combined with faith, God does things beyond our imaginations. We are living in an impossible time with an uncertain future here inl America. Many are resolved to just give up and let corruption take over, hoping that the depth of wickedness in our country means the soon return of Christ. But what are we supposed to do in the mean time? Are we supposed to let the kingdom of Darkness take over? God gives us tools that we can use in this spiritual battle we are involved in. One of the powerful weapons is prayer and fasting.
People's souls are at stake and God has been just about eliminated from our society. Can righteousness ever come back to this country? God has revealed that He will intervene when we are faithful in praying and seeking Him.
Do we want revival? When people pray and seek God, revival takes place. This book helps us understand the power of fasting and why we need to fast, and some of the major examples in the Bible about people who fasted 40 days, and what the results were when they did.
Very inspiring. I would encourage others to read this book. It is very edifying and equipping for the church.

A very necessary read for our current generation.
I am currently on a 40-Day Fast with my local church and we are crying out to the Lord for all the things Lou writes about. While I really love the stories of personal testimony, this was not an easy read. I found the first part of the book particularly hard to digest. It felt very "in the clouds" and not necessarily practical, as did the last part.
But, once again, it is necessary and I would recommend primarily on the importance of the underlying message.

the fire of God is on this book, pruning, claryfing, demystifying a generation about one or i even dare to say the most fundamental spiritual discipline, the fasting. Thank God for the previous generations, for the elders, for the men and women of sacrifice, a burning heart and sober mind in Christ. I am an answers of those, so I'll be willing to do for the next one to come. Glory to the name of Jesus!

Excellent guidebook
Participating in the ongoing fast for a new Jesus Movement. Our country needs this more now than at any time in my lifetime. The Jesus Movement of the 70s was very dear to my heart. The author explains why the field is ready and what we can add to ripen the Harvest. So desperatly needed now.

Classic Lou Engle. Challenges the heart to believe in the power of fasting. Challenges the believer to live a life of sacrifice and to be set apart for the Lord. In a generation of people that largely don’t want anything to do with self-sacrifice for the kingdom of God, it’s a great read. Will challenege and stir the heart, classic Lou Engle style.

As a Catholic, there are a number of things I disagree with Lou on. However, the spiritual wisdom offered in this book is significant and I loved reading it. It's a book I will revisit over and over on the subject of fasting.

Are you looking for a true revival relationship with God? “The Jesus Fast” is filled with the inspiration you will need and the powerful scriptures will reveal to you the truths of God through fasting and prayer. If you read this book, you will a closer relationship with God that brings peaceful results to your life. As a young child and teenager, I remember our church fasting and praying 24/7 before an upcoming revival. Even the teens of the church participated in the prayer and fasting and I saw God work in my life and in the lives of others. We as a nation and as an individual really need to return to prayer and fasting. I highly recommend this book. It will truly bless your heart and bring you closer to God. I am encouraged after reading this book; with the return of prayer and fasting we could indeed turn the tide of the evil that is plaguing our nation. In my opinion this is a must-read if you are concerned about our nation.

"Invisible now, invincible later," Lou Engle says, describing the way a believer's hidden faithfulness to God through fasting and prayer causes her to grow in grace. Lou's life of consecration is a clear demonstration of the truth of these words and this book a clear call to follow in his steps.
