Separated spouses... will her secret and his smokejumping ruin their second chance for love? Hero or husband? It's a tough choice, but somebody's got to make it.
Andy Jenkins is a hero. He's also a husband -- or at least he used to be. Now he regrets the breakup of his marriage every day. He loves his wife Amy and his sons, and he wants desperately to be with them, but he loves being a smokejumper too. He can't give it up to play it safe even to please his wife. Or can he? When Amy shows up to suggest a reunion for the sake of their sons, Andy is overjoyed and jumps back in with both feet.
Amy Jenkins has a secret: she's battling a life-threatening illness, and doesn't know if she'll survive. She's desperately worried that between her disease and Andy's high-risk job, their sons will end up as orphans. When they reunite can she convince him to put family first, or will the same arguments that led their marriage into trouble before put their relationship on the rocks again?
Andy finds that he loves Amy more than ever, and the sexual tension between them as they struggle between make-up or break-up is hotter than ever. Can he find a way to rescue their romance without giving up his calling to smokejump and save lives, or will their reconciliation lead to more regrets?

Iona Findley embarked on her career as a romance writer with her very first words, "love, love, love," which she carefully dictated to her mother. Despite spurious rumors, probably the work of a jealous sibling, that her words might actually have been, "lub, lub, lub," (surely not!) or even "blub, blub, blub" (horrors!), Iona pursued a vocation in romance writing with enthusiasm. Writing fulltime now Iona fulfils the promise of her early words crafting intriguing novels of "love, love, love."

Andy and Amy had true love and a lovely family. His career as a fire jumper came in between them: his dedication vs. her wanting him to be more of an equal partner. They separate and two years later, Amy shows up unexpectedly with their two sons in tow and wanting to reconcile. Andy knows Amy very well, and he knows there's more to this, but he's so very happy that his family is back that he's willing to wait it out for the whole story. Amy has a deep secret that she knows she needs to share with her husband--and soon. It's a great addition to the Series!
I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
This is the third book I've read by this author and I have to say that I was extremely disappointed in this one. We met Andy Jenkins in the first book, Opening Hearts, so I was anxious for his story. Unfortunately, this one fell flat for me.
I think a little back story is needed on this. This is the fourth book in this series and I've read book 1, 2, and now 4 (I missed 3 somehow). The first book was good...not great, but it was the author's first published novel and it was good enough for me to want to read more from this author. The second book, Risking Hearts, impressed me. I noticed distinct improvements in the authors writing and story line. Because of that, I went into this one expecting a great story.
I was sadly mistaken. The story opens with Andy recovering from a concussion, bruised ribs, and a gash on his shoulder deep enough that he had to have stitches. These injuries happened the day before and yet once his estranged wife, Amy, arrives with their boys Andy's injuries are downplayed pretty fast and then are completely gone two days later.
Then there is Amy. I didn't like her. I found her selfish and very self centered. There was also an incident later in the book where she's hurt and is admitted to the hospital. She gets sent home a few days later and within hours of her arrival back at the cabin she and Andy are having some pretty intense sex.
There were editing issues in this one, some so bad that the sentence didn't make sense and I had to go back and re-read it. Since this was a read and review copy of the story and I received mine prior to the book's release, I'm assuming the author has addressed these issues before publication so it did not play a factor in my rating.
I would recommend this book for those looking for a contemporary romance and don't mind unrealistic elements being used to push the plot forward.
"Evolving Hearts" by Iona Findley is book four in the "Hero's Heart" series. This is Andy and Amy's story.
Andy is a Smokejumper and loves his job. Amy wants him to do something safe. They end up separated. Andy misses his wife and kids but doesn't know how to work it all out. Amy is battling a life threatening illness so she and the kids go back home. She doesn't tell Andy about her illness. Will Andy find out that she is ill? Will Andy and Amy be able to work things out?
It was great how the author incorporated a high-risk job, life threatening illness, and especially the emotional well being of the children. I think it was great that the couple were already married and the chemistry that they still had between them. It shows that communication is so important in relationships and realizing what's really important in life.
I'm not sure how but I missed book three "Joining Hearts". I'm going to have to go back and read it. I really enjoy books by Iona Findley! Another great read!
I just finished this most delightful book by Iona Findley about a smokejumper and his spouse. Amy and Andy have separated; Amy could not take the stress of Andy’s smoke jumping. However, fate has taken her decision to stay away out of her hands, so she has decided to try and make a go of their marriage again. When she sees Andy again she realizes she loves him even more than before. That is until….. Stop, no spoilers from me. You really need to read this book to find out how Andy pulls his butt out of this fire!! This is an outstanding book of love rekindled. Ms. Findley does a spectacular job writing about these heroes and the love of their lives. She does in a way that makes the reader think about all that these families go thru when their spouses go out on a jump. To tell you the truth, it would scare the stuffing out of me. This is the fourth book in Ms. Findley’s Hero’s Heart series, and each and every book is this series has been spectacular, and full of love, and romance. Thank you for reading my review. You really need to “One-Click” this one! I was gifted with a copy of this book for my honest review. Thank you for the gift, it was an outstanding gift. I could not put it down. Thank heaven for days off from work and the chance to power read!
Andy and Amy separated 2 years ago. Die to his job as a smoke jumper when a secret that Amy is keeping leads to her and the boys to move back in with Andy. They realize that they still care for each other and want to be a family. Andy makes the decision to take the promotion they been trying to give which keeps him at a desk and home more with Amy and their boys. Amy thinks that Andy isn't gonna change and threatens to leave and take the boys back to Virginia if Andy keeps smoke jumping. This leads to the littlest of their kids to take off. But what happens is he gets hurt and in the processof rescuing him Amy gets injured. Andy and his Co workers along with Tyler find them. Andy sees everything flash before his eyes seeing Amy bleeding. After being at the hospital and sleeping forever, Amy is released and they continue to work on things. Andy tells her about the new job and how he plans on being home a lot more. They live happily ever after ♡ I loved reading this book I missed this series. And the characters, it was great to see Jesslyn and Sam make an appearance. It's a great second chance romance.
Amy and Andy have been separated for 2 years because they allowed Andy's passion as a skyjumper come between them. Amy resented the time it took Andy away from the family. Now that she is facing a health crisis and worried she may not survive. Afraid, she wants their kids with a familiar parent. Driving across the country and showing up unannounced, she is fearful Andy's situation may have changed. Tyler, their older son, is resentful of his father and the younger son, Jamie, is staving for his father's attention. Amy has been hiding her health situation from Andy and she is still not sure she can handle Andy's dedication to the skyjumpers. When an emergency situation threatens the family, it makes everyone rethink their priorities. A very touching story. This is the 4th book is a series of stand alone stories. * I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book that I have read by Iona Findley. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have to admit that it is an awesome book. I will be reading more of hers in the future.
This is a very touching story about how in tough times a couple who have been separated for two years can find peace and happiness again. It takes you through the rough times that we all know we have to endure and it shows us that good things can happen.
I have to admit that I did find myself in tears several times during the book and sometimes they were tears of happiness and sometimes they weren't.
A great book that I would recommend to my friends. Once you pick it up you won't put it down until you finish it.
I received a copy from the author for an honest review. Iona Findley has not disappointed me yet. This was another fire jumper story line. The story was about Andy and Amy. She like most woman don't want their love one's in any danger. She basically kicked him out. That was Virginia. He now lives permanently in California. She and the boy's drop in on him unexpectedly. That was a wake up call for both of them. Loved the first chapter. Though why they show up was an eye opener for him. Won't give anymore of the story line here. Just suffice to say that I am glad to read it and am looking forward to more.
This is a smartly written, poignant contemporary romance with strong characters and plot that includes humor, suspense, second chances and family drama. It centers around Andy Jenkins, a smokejumper hero, and his estranged wife Amy, who is battling a life-threatening illness. I loved the interaction and rapport between Andy, Amy, and their two sons, Tyler and Jamie, as they try to reconcile. I enjoyed this book so much, I didn't want it to end and look forward to reading more from Iona Findley.
I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.
