Everyone knows you should never say never.

Cooper Moore never saw Maggie Williams coming. She was just his best friend’s little sister, the curly-haired, freckle-faced girl from Mississippi who was absolutely off limits. And he never thought about her any other way — not until he saw her that night, broken and brave. From that moment on, he knew he’d do whatever it took to protect her, even if it meant he had to stay away.

Maggie never expected to find her fiancé banging her maid of honor an hour before she was set to walk down the aisle, but life’s funny that way. The only option to save her sanity is to get the hell out of Jackson and move to New York where her brother lives. The only downside: Cooper is there too. And she just doesn’t know if she can stay away from him — the filthy rich, dead sexy playboy who’s allergic to commitment.

The second Maggie sees him again, she realizes he’ll be impossible to resist. Luckily, commitment is the last thing on her mind, and Cooper is the perfect escape. As long as she can keep her heart in check, everything will be just fine. Because she can never have feelings for him. Or at least that’s what she’ll keep telling herself.

Chaser is a standalone romantic comedy and book 2 of the Bad Habits series.

I was the kid who stayed inside to read.

As a four-eyed nerd with a bad perm, I was no one’s dodgeball pick, but I had a lot of friends. Frodo and Bilbo, for instance. Kristy, Stacey, Claudia and the gang (iykyk). Once, in the third grade, I wrote a teen murder mystery inspired by Christopher Pike. On solving my mystery in twelve pages, I decided I was a terrible writer and should never, ever do that again.

Fortunately, I didn’t take my own advice.

I write romance for that feeling you get at the end, like you’re standing on top of a mountain with a backpack full of hundred dollar bills. I write romcoms because is there anything better than banter and grand gestures? I write because I love to create and I love words. I love books, and I love stretching my imagination. I love love, and if you do too, bring your coffee and have a seat. I think we’re gonna be friends.

FIVE CHASE ME STARS.

“I’ll make you forget he ever existed.”

description

Cooper Moore where have you been all my book loving life? If heroes were chocolates then this hero would have to be the cadbury's giant button variety, (in other words; my favourite). Staci Hart you have waved your magic hero wand once again and won me over with this gorgeous romantic soirée. Readers be prepared, 'Chaser' is a solid, well written, emotionally charged five star standard book that will leaving you wanting more from this series and with plenty of shining moments, there is no doubt that once again I've been swept up into this author's erotic imagination. Romance aplenty, spine tingling rumpy pumpy and a hero that is quite frankly drool worthy you will not be disappointed. This novel had all of the above in abundance and by the time I found myself reading 'The end' I was almost begging for more time with these gorgeous characters.

What's it all about?
Cooper Moore has never wanted for anything. As the heir to his family business, this wealthy bachelor has the world at his finger tips. With women aplenty and his choice of one night stands, Cooper may look like the happiest man in all of New York but he's hiding something that may just put his single status to bed permanently. Maggie Williams is still reeling from her recent heart break. Not looking for anything serious she takes a risk on having a fling with her older brothers 'too handsome not to be noticed' best friend. Thinking that this will be just a short term arrangement, Maggie believes that she won't have to worry about involving her heart again. But cooper has other plans, this hero is ready to win over the girl of his dreams. Follow this fantastic love story and a journey that will have you cheering for these gorgeous characters.

What did I love?
When I start on a journey with a book I'm always desperate to jump head first into the pages and hopeful that I fall in love with the characters, plot and of course the romance. I'm also always chasing that feeling of a book being so perfectly perfect it makes me want to marry my kindle. So I'm very pleased to report that 'chaser' gave me all those feelings as well as tormenting me with the 'can't wait to sit down with this book' feeling. Staci Hart has done something special with this series her characters are so loveable you can't help but cheer on from the sidelines and hope with all that you have that they are granted their perfect happy endings. Cooper and Maggie were adorable, and their story brought to life a romance with plenty of emotion and a whirlwind romance that I'm sure will be pleasing lovers of this genre all over the romance reading community. Cooper made me weak at the knees and Maggie made me want to jump into her world and be her newest best friend, I couldn't have asked for more from this author and after falling in love with book one of this series I can say with utter confidence that I would whole heartedly recommend this little stunner of a new adult novel to all fans of this genre.

Final thoughts ...
'Chaser' had it all; the Perfect amount of angst, enough romance to keep my heart pounding and definitely those tissue grabbing moments. Everything about this novel appealed to my romance reading addition and I'd happily admit that I'm now a firm fan of this talented author. The 'best friends, younger sister' story is always a winner in my eyes and Staci Hart executed this trope to a fine art. Now all the business of 'Chaser' is out of the way, I can't help but ask the question every Staci Hart fan wants to ask - when do I get my hands on the next book of this series? Staci Hart you are responsible for making me a 'Bad Habits' addict and I have to confess I'm enjoying every single perfectly loved up dirty moment. Enjoy fellow readers, Kisses.

I love Staci Hart's writing. This book was fun, sweet, sexy, and emotional. It's been a while since I've read a 'Bad Habits' book and I'm wondering why I waited so long to start this book. I loved Maggie & Cooper's story!

Maggie's brother's best friend was always off limits. Not only is Cooper Moore a rich playboy, but Maggie was in a committed relationship. When Maggie found her groom to be sleeping with her maid of honor- just an hour before the ceremony- things changed. Cooper was there for her when she needed him. And the sex. Gah the sex. She is in NYC now and with Cooper, but they have rules.
No Commitment, no expectations. No dates or gifts.
Four weeks, and we'd go our separate ways.

I loved Maggie and I sympathized with that she was going through, but Cooper Moore... Cooper was where it was at. He was pretty darn perfect. Seriously, I loved him so much! I could see how this would turn out for them from a mile away, but I didn't care it was a bit predicable. I loved it that much! Now, Rose and Tricky are next and I am so pumped for their story. I can bet you I won't be waiting long to listen to that one!

If you're in the mood for a lighthearted romance that will make you laugh and smile, bring the feels, and is just an all around entertaining read, I recommend you pick up Chaser! The audio book was wonderful so if you're an audio junkie like me, the narration and audio was all around great!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4.5 STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Staci Hart is a genius! You’d think after reading so many friends to lovers stories I would know the gist and welcome all new stories nonchalantly…
Ahah, not at all! She managed to hook me from page one, getting my somehow hard-to-crack little heart (some like to say I’m cold hearted even.) a thrill!

I loved Maggie and Cooper' story! Finely crafted and intricately mixed friends to lovers story in a forbidden romance trope. It was also the great downfall of a hardcore player and I loved witnessing a big bad wolf falling for a good girl.
It wasn’t hard to fall in love with their story, all the parameters are cleverly set for you to cheer for Maggie and Cooper team!

I’ve read the first book in this Bad Habits series, " With a Twist " a few weeks ago and surprisingly found myself not really enjoying it. Probably my mood back then refraining me from appreciating it because it had all the ingredients I usually seek in a romance book.
I was a little wary of "Chaser", but having met Cooper in the first book, the billionaire alpha dawg, and Maggie, freshly arrived from Jackson to New York after her wedding disaster, I knew I wanted to read their story!

I’m so glad I did! I loved every minute of "Chaser". The secrets meetings, the escalation of lust and sexual tension, making both characters act recklessly, the evolution of their arrangement into something more… It was just SO good!

Maggie is West’s little sister and came to New York after her wedding debacle, being cheated on by her high-school sweetheart the night of her wedding. She wants a clean start and swore off relationships. Not men. She finds herself entangled with Cooper Moore, her older brother’s best friend, billionaire and master player.

Cooper is West—from book 1— best friend. He’s one of the most eligible bachelors of the country, filthy rich and too sexy for its own good. He’s a got a real player reputation with the ladies, but how delighted was I to discover him a true nerd at heart. Sigh. At one point I wasn’t sure I was attracted to him because of his gorgeousness or the fact that he had a room reserved for books, comics and superhero paraphernalia.
Other than his preference for DC over Marvel, he was pretty much perfect! (I’m a Marvel girl.)

To guard her heart and thinking it will save her from falling for Cooper, Maggie came up with specific rules.
No commitment, no expectations, no dates, not gifts. Four weeks.
The chemistry between those 2 is firing up and they soon find themselves entangled in a set of rules none of them is able to follow anymore.
“To hell with the rules.”

Cooper to my surprise was the one caving the first, first as a revolt, he’s not the type to follow the rules anyway. But little by little I was delighted to see him falling for Maggie. Using subterfuges to make her bend her precious rules, to spend more time with her…
Maggie is still in a fragile space, and she has to deal with her douchebag ex, who keeps showing his ugly rear at the worst times!

Of course both our characters are heading toward their HEA, things get a little rowdy when Maggie’s brother discovers his best friend is sleeping with his little sister… Understandable and quickly dismissed, I’ve found "Chaser" to be pretty much drama free. A welcome angst with the ex and Maggie’s indecisions and fears, that’s all.
“I've been around the world, and I thought I'd seen everything it had to offer until that night, until I saw you. In all my life, I'd never seen anything so beautiful, not standing in the Blue Mosque or the Taj Mahal,. Not in the streets of Rome or canals of Venice. Making you smile gives me life. Making you laugh gives me hope. Making you happy is all I want, other than to keep you.”

"Chaser" was a truly satisfying read, swooning romance with steamy sex scenes and just the right amount of angst. I loved it and can’t wait for Rose and Patrick to finally get their HEA!

Chaser is a forbidden, brother's best friend book, but it was slightly different from others I have read recently, in the fact that the hero knew pretty much from the get go that the heroine was his forever girl, and it was her that needed the convincing.

Cooper Moore is a rich Manhattan playboy, he's not particularly arrogant but he knows he's pretty sought after by the ladies, and the fact that he has just hit a New York magazine's most eligible bachelor list says it all. When his best friend, West's sister gets cheated on, on her wedding day of all days, Cooper is the one who gives her what she needs at just the right time.

Maggie Williams is a normal every day gal from Mississippi, and after her awful humiliation she decides to flee to NYC to be closer to her brother and start afresh. After her delicious night with Cooper, she's not averse to hooking up with him on a strictly friends with benefits level, but the rules are that they only do this for a month, otherwise she can't trust that she might not fall for him.

No Commitment, no expectations. No dates or gifts.
Four weeks, and we'd go our separate ways.

On top of this risky plan, they are hiding things from her brother, and their friends, because Cooper has already been warned away from her in a big way.

Although Maggie is using Cooper as a distraction from her troubles, she soon realises that even though she is falling fast, she can't move on from her ex fiancé so easily and she is torn between following the rules and following her heart.

I loved both characters, Maggie was refreshing, she had a good head on her shoulders and even though she had been betrayed by her high school sweetheart, it didn't turn her into a bitter or a annoying person. Her flirty banter with Cooper was sweet and funny, and their whole friends with benefits relationship was so well written, with scorching chemistry and fun times.

Watching Cooper fall deeper for her, but giving her the space to deal with her feelings gave me all the feels, and hit all right places. He was a sweetheart, and super sexy to boot. If you have read book 1 in this series With a Twist, you will know that the supporting cast are also a great addition and I am already looking forward to the next in line. Here's hoping it's Rose and Patrick.

Chaser can be read as a standalone, but definitely worth reading as part of the overall series.

Listen. You need this book in your life. I tried to come up with a cute and clever way to say that, but it kept coming out as gibberish and emojis, and I realized there's no other way to say it. You NEED this book. But, just so we’re clear, you can't have Cooper because I licked him all over and he's mine forever. You know how sometimes a new book boyfriend comes along and puts all your other book boyfriends to shame? Right. I present to you...Cooper Moore.

We first met Cooper and Maggie Williams in With a Twist. Cooper is West's best friend and Maggie is West's little sister. That, right there, is the juicy, delicious, utterly irresistible hook. But Maggie is broken—in the way that a woman would be broken after catching her fiancé balls deep in her childhood best friend on the day of their wedding. She's not in the right headspace for a relationship. She’s barely in the right headspace to function as a normal human being.

She allowed Cooper in as a temporary distraction, a ‘hook-up’—holding him to several “rules" to keep her battered heart safe from further damage. It's a pretty sweet set-up for Cooper—all the sexy times, none of the commitment. Until he realizes that it's not enough, that he hates “the rules” and that he’ll do whatever he can to show Maggie that there’s more to this thing they have together than simple booty calls and casual sex.

Cooper and Maggie are just…perfect together. I loved their scorching physical chemistry and their playful, flirty banter. I loved how they handled each other tenderly and carefully—even when they went off the rails. Especially when they went off the rails. Cooper, with his deep dark secrets—and OH MY GAWD! For real, Cooper's deep, dark secrets might just make him one of my favorite book boyfriends of all time, you guys—playboy reputation and devil may care attitude is the last guy anyone expected to grow up and take responsibility for his life and take care of his woman. Watching him do so is…it’s dreamy. It’s swoony. It’s wonderful. I mean, is there anything sweeter than seeing a man like this brought to his knees by an everyday, chucks and jeans, all American girl? (Hint: No, there isn’t.)

Maggie finds herself on quite a journey here, healing and growing and learning to trust herself again. She’s sometimes frustrating, but knowing that her head and her heart are basically starting from scratch after her devastating wedding day—she’s never annoying or immature. She’s just…lost. And it takes a village to help her find her way again. Cooper, West, Lily, Rose, family and friends from home all play a pivotal role in her story arc and it’s heartwarming and emotional, and lovely to read.

Everything just works here. Maggie and Cooper are brilliant together despite all the things keeping them apart (her shattered heart and overprotective/overbearing older brother to name a couple). The genuine affection and camaraderie of this group of friends (some of the sweetest scenes involved the interactions amongst friends—so authentic and touching). I can't say enough good things about this series, and this book in particular has just completely won over my heart.

If you’re looking for something swoony, sexy, and sweet (with just a smidge of fairy tale thrown in for good measure) then you need this book! ~ Shelly, 5 stars

~~~
Ummm, you all have NO IDEA how bad I wanted this book. Like, super bad. SUPER BAD, Y’ALL. And then, it was there on my Kindle and I was over here like *flails* OMG! FINALLY! YAY! OMG! COOPER! MUST. READ. NOW! And so on…
It only took one glimpse of Maggie Williams, cracked and burned, broken and so beautiful, for Cooper Moore to know he wanted her—and wanted to protect her. Even if that’s so not his style.
For Maggie, fleeing Jackson for New York City, and the love and protection of her brother and his friends, seemed like the only choice after the ultimate betrayal—her fiancé, her best friend, her wedding day…
Mags isn’t looking to enter another relationship, and besides, Coop is living The Life, and the word ‘girlfriend’ simply isn’t in his vocabulary. A casual hook-up seems like the answer to the burning attraction between them, except there’s one problem…
Her heart.
His desire.
Her brother.
Err…make that three problems.
*Sigh* So, I’d be sitting here, reading Chaser thinking...this, right here, when this group of friends is all together, bantering and being effortlessly cool, is the best part of this book. What gives it its heart and soul, and a playful vibe that can so easily turn into something that makes your heart pound. That can stun you like a swift punch to the face...*ahem* Nope, not saying anything else about that.
But then Maggie and Cooper would be together, alone, all swoony-perfect and panty-melting sexy, and I’d start to second guess myself. Because Cooper Moore—be still my beating heart. I honestly didn’t think Staci Hart would be able to top *MY* West after the excellent, still-gives-me-the-flails With A Twist, but Coop … Sweet baby Jesus in a basket, Coop comes SO damn close. I love this guy, with his hidden layers (Batman, anyone?) and his insatiable need for one Maggie Williams. I kinda ached inside for him—a man that seemingly has it all, but is really just a little bit lost in the big, bad world that makes up The Life. And seeing him with Maggie, as he’s trying to figure shit out, had the potential to completely overshadow the moments with all the Habits crew…even if only briefly. Only, they didn’t. They worked together to make this book a fun, charming, well-rounded, complete read.
I loved reading Chaser, although admittedly not with the same intense passion with which I loved With A Twist. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I adored this best friend’s little sister romance—one of my FAVORITE types of romance in the history of ever—but it was more of a slow burn for me, even if it wasn’t for these characters. Chaser’s charm just took a little longer grab hold of me, and the laughs were a different kind of funny. This couple was different, but damn, isn’t that what we all want when reading? The best parts of a book you love—banter, familiar, loved characters, humor, oh-my-god sexiness and an ending that makes your heart flutter—but with a new twist to make it something unique. And that’s about the gist of my experience with Chaser.
I absolutely opened this book with sky high expectations, and more than my fair share of crazy-assed excitement, and I wasn’t let down. All my flailing and fan-girl jonesing was worth it—and will now be directed at Tricky’s book, which honestly, can’t land on my Kindle soon enough… ~ Beth, 4.5 stars
Chaser (Bad Habits #2) by Staci Hart
4 stars!!
“I’d been hiding almost my whole life, hiding pieces of myself from everyone.”
We have had Lily and West’s story and now it was the turn for Cooper and Maggie. I loved the first book in this series, With a Twist, and this book continues where that left off but now centring around Copper and Maggie, but all our favourite bunch of misfits make an appearance. This crew are like a family and they are always there for each other whether it is wanted or not.
Maggie is West’s sister and she is just recovering from the not wedding from hell, on her wedding day, three months ago she caught her fiancé banging the Maid of Honour so she got the hell out of dodge and moved to New York to be with West but most importantly to escape her past. She had had a lucky escape, but the heart and head can be conflicting. You cannot just forget seven years and you also cannot forget that betrayal, Maggie is struggling but she has Cooper to take her mind off what she is desperately trying to forget.
“But that’s the thing about love. You’re not always certain. You’re not always ready...”
Cooper, Cooper, Cooper...I love this man with a passion. He is the rich boy that has everything, he has played the field, been seen with celebrities and models alike, but hasn’t really found his purpose in life, he is kinda in no man’s land. His parents are not putting any pressure on him to work so he is enjoying his days while he can. He knows he has to decide what he wants to do but at this moment in time he just doesn’t have the inclination to make grown up decisions. He is one of the top most eligible bachelors and lives up to his playboy lifestyle but deep down is a little boy lost and it was this little boy that called out to me while reading this book. He wasn’t the conceited playboy that everyone deemed him to be and once we got to know the real Cooper your heart couldn’t help but melt. Sometimes it takes that one person to change everything and Cooper seems to have met his game changer.
“...and when I slipped inside of her and took her mouth, took her body, I could feel her heart, feel her soul. I only hoped she could feel mine too.”
I loved that it was Maggie that went into this arrangement with her list of rules, she was the one that called the shots in a poor attempt at saving herself from heartbreak, but really who would be the one that would really get their heart broken? When Cooper falls, he falls hard, he knows that Maggie is the forbidden fruit, as West’s best friend he knows he shouldn’t even entertain Maggie but his heart says one thing and his head says another. Is this relationship doomed before it has begun? Maggie has a 747 full of baggage and Cooper has a reputation that precedes him and a best friend with a big fist.
“Home is where you are.”
I love Staci Hart’s writing, since I found her with her Hardcore series I have been a huge fan, she never fails to deliver her quirky sense of humour with a great huge dollop of emotion to boot. She always manages to captivate me with her stories and this one is no different. My heart broke for these two, I did shed a few tears but most of all I went on this journey with them. Despite the trials and tribulations I knew that these two were well suited and I just hung on for the ride desperately wanting them to wake up and smell the coffee. People can change for the better, it just takes that wake up call, but will these two wake up? Another fab read and I cannot wait to see who is up next. There are so many fantastic characters in this series so no matter who it is, I will be waiting.
4.5 STARS
I’d been eagerly awaiting Staci Hart’s Chaser after absolutely adoring With a Twist (a fantastic friends-to-lovers book – my review here), and I’m glad to say that it didn’t disappoint! It’s possible that I might love Chaser even MORE than With a Twist, all because of one gorgeous man named Cooper. Cooper Moore, and all his yummy, nerdy goodness, has stolen my heart, and I don’t ever want it back. I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to love him more than West from With a Twist but, well, I do. I so freaking do. Cooper and Maggie’s book is another stunning read from Staci Hart, full of warmth, humor, and heart. Those who love their romances well-written with an incredible cast of characters, this book – and series – is for you.
“I’ve been around the world, and I thought I’d seen everything it had to offer until that night, until I saw you. In all my life, I’ve never seen anything so beautiful, not standing in the Blue Mosque or the Taj Mahal. Not in the streets of rome or canals of Venice. Making you smile gives me life. Making you laugh gives me hope. Making you happy is all I want, other than to keep you.”
Maggie just recently moved to New York after finding her fiancé cheating on her the day of their wedding. NY is where her brother, West, is… and also his best friend, Cooper Moore. Cooper is the ultimate playboy – he’s hot, rich, famous, fun, so why shouldn’t Maggie have a no-strings attached sexual relationship with him to get her to forget her troubles? So for a few weeks, the two are involved in a secret relationship, with rules to keep feelings off the table. But in between the shared laughs, furtive glances, and fiery chemistry, Maggie and Cooper start to fall for each other. But with a relationship built on secrets, is it possible to make it work?
She had changed me on the molecular level, and she had no idea.
So I kind of hardcore adored this book. Okay, not kind of – I totally adored this gorgeous romance. It’s a little slow-paced in the first half of the book, but it picks up quickly after that. The writing is on-point, the characters feel so real, the romance is as sweet as it is passionate. Chaser almost read like a fairytale, it’s so dreamy and romantic. What surprised me though, was the amount of depth of Cooper and Maggie’s characters. Maggie is still lost after being betrayed by a man she loved for years, and Cooper is in this sort of stagnant state in his life. Staci Hart delves deep into their characters, making them face their wants and desires, not just for each other, but out of life. I LOVED that Maggie and Cooper are so multidimensional, because they become all the more real and relatable.
Purpose. A reason. A spark to light up my gray life, make me want more.
Was it her?
… And when I thought back over the past few weeks, I realized that she wasn’t a spark. She was a wildfire.
God, Cooper. When this man falls, he falls so. hard. I’m such a sucker for heroes who do a complete 180 from their playboy ways once they realize how in love with the heroine they are, and Cooper could not be more perfect. All his actions and words are so filled with love for Maggie… AH!!! My heart nearly couldn’t take the level of devotion Cooper has for Maggie.
“Maggie is a singular event in my life. I want her. Forever.”
Staci Hart is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. Her Bad Habits series is so well-developed, with great writing and a brilliant cast of characters. Reading about Maggie and Cooper, Lily and West, and Rose and Tricky truly feels like catching up with old friends. And ohmygod, Tricky!!!! Goddamn, I want this man’s book bad. I have a feeling Patrick and Rose’s book is going to be the best of the series.
Overall, Chaser was a joy to read. I was swept away by Maggie and Cooper’s stunning romance, and I honestly can’t wait for more from the series. I’m seriously addicted to these characters that Staci Hart has created, and I nearly wish that their stories would never end.
There aren’t many words in the English dictionary to tell you how much I enjoyed Chaser. It exceeded, punched, and kicked all my expectations out of the roof. I had this clear image in my head of how this book was going to be and it was looking pretty good. But then Staci Hart pretty much turned it upside down and twisted it into a tight little bow, putting all my old thoughts away. This book surprised me in a way that I didn’t see it coming.
Cooper and Maggie welcome you with a BANG! from the start. And I love how Staci Hart starts her books with OMFG scenes. They keep surprising you all throughout the book and then it comes to a point where you don’t know how it’s going to end. CHASER is funny and it’s filled with friendships that can’t be replaced. It has heart and it has power in its words. It’s clear how much the characters are loved by their author and I will be forever grateful and full with joy to keep reading Staci Hart’s books for the rest of my life.
Cooper Moore was someone that sneaked up on me. You think Cooper is a way but you find out he has doubts in his head and a pretty big heart to match. When he loves, he loves completely. I just found myself falling for him and The Smile. I adored the dynamics about their relationship since the start and that love continued to grow with each passing chapter. *Special mention to those amazing chapter’s titles. Staci always makes me smile but at the same time, breaks me.*
Maggie Williams had such a great voice. I could imagine her completely how she would be if she were standing right next to me. Her cute little expressions and the way she smiled at Cooper, it was all really well written and developed that I found myself getting lost in the story for some times and then I was ten chapters later from where I started. Staci’s books do that to you. They’re so entertaining and FUN that you get suck into the story with the emotions dancing around you.
There wasn’t just romantic love but it also had friendships. It was so great to see the Habits gang again. Their usual spot to meet and their enjoyable conversations. It’s obvious they really care about each other with no bad intentions. And I like that so much. Give me all the healthy and cute friendships in the world and I’m your girl.
I’d like to tell you in detail all the scenes that I enjoyed but that’s for you to find out. CHASER is just what you need if you like best friend’s little sister trope, rich nice guy, laugh-your-butt-off dialogues and epic painful journeys that are worth it.
This is legit one of the most boring books I've ever read. The only reason I'm still here is for my favs Patrick and Rose who I SHIP SO MUCH IT HURTS AND WHY WAS THERE SO LITTLE OF THEM SIGH.
The book starts with Maggie and Cooper having steamy scenes together and when they're not together creating steam on the pages for us, they're telling their friends how this person they're seeing is just a great casual hook up and nothing will come of it. NEVER. EVER. NOT IN A MILLION YEARS. (yea yeaaaa we get it bla bla). Oh, and pretty much 75% of the book takes place at Cooper's penthouse, Maggie's condo or Habits. I want to see more! Like how With a Twist had a ton of ballet things, how they went to the Opera. I want to see those things and get some actual world building. It's not like it shouldn't/doesn't exist in contemporary novels.
The writing didn't suit me either, if I'm being frank. I can't say I'm in any way moved by the 20 page swipes I had to do in order to skim a super long convo where the MC is telling allllllll the things about Cooper to her bff and her bff is fangirling over the guy. Please just give me a fucking break can we please move on to the actual plot? Oh, wait! There pretty much is none.
I can't believe that I read a scene where Maggie and Cooper went to have sex in a public restroom stall and West and Tricky went to relieve themselves and Cooper just kept on kissing her and after the guys left they were still horny enough to have sex. WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. F@CK??? It's so ridic I had to read it again to see if I understood correctly. (Did it not weird them out that his brother just peed in the same room? Jfc.)
I also don't really get WHY Cooper loves Maggie. I mean, yeah, they are kinda cute if you think about it and his puppy love for Maggie is semi adorable at times, but they're not really compatible in my eyes and I didn't really get the reason why Maggie was the girl of Cooper's dreams. Why her standing in a wedding dress, crying was the moment that changed his life?
Speaking of the called-off wedding, I had a feeling this is what had went down and had been hinted at in With a Twist, but it's hella annoying that I was actually looking forward to reading about this and all we got was a "tell" not "show". Cooper legit just told the reader what had happened but we got no chemistry, no actual convo, no feelings--nada.
Also, I find Maggie kinda selfish? She almost never asks/talks about anything else other than her love life and the world just revolves around her. What's more, lmao I get that Lily is gorgeous, but really we don't need to have this stated on every scene she's in. It's like Maggie has a crush on his brother's girlfriend. "her long legs", "her shiny hair", "she's so gorgeous" etc etc etc. And, last but not least, I get it that West and Lily are super happy and comfortable and in the "honeymoon stage" of their relationship, but honestly, if I had had to read one more time about how amazing life is and get West's philosophical love lectures to Connor and Patrick, I would have had to put my kindle down to avoid eyerolling because it was really starting to hurt my eyes.
There are some things I liked though and these are:
*the core group of friends
*the main girls being supportive of one another
*PATRICK
*ROSE
*PATRICK AND ROSE
As much as I disliked this book, I like that there was so much less slutshaming and jealousy in this book than in With a Twist. I've read two very, very bad NA books this year and I'm still so angry at one of them that I haven't even reviewed it, but this one, as a whole, wasn't so bad compared to those books. It just wasn't my cup of tea this time though I can see a lot of people loving it.
I can't say that I'm not excited for the final companion, because I AM! I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR ROSE AND TRICKY I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I AM. I love them, they're the only couple who gives me butterflies, makes me smile like a goof and whose emotions reflect on my face and in my heart. I can't wait to read about them and I sincerely hope that the douchesparkles and dicktwinkles and whatever other [not so] funny synonyms are left behind and we're going to have an actual story with actual plot and much more character growth than in Chaser.
“He’s the one bright spot in my life, and he’s so bright that I almost can’t see any of the bad.”
OMFG! This book you guys! Words cannot express my undying love for Cooper Moore. He is now my everything. End of review! He is perfection!
Ok, Ok if you insist I will actually review the book and not just the man but honestly He is amazing! I am a huge sucker for a brother’s best friend book and add to that the scenery of the New York and before I could finish the first chapter I was sold. I have always desired to live in NY and somehow through this series I feel like I am young, ambitious and right there in the middle of it all. Since discovering her work, Staci Hart has become an author I can count on to make me feel, make me laugh and make me desperate for her next release.
‘Cooper was being Cooper. I wasn’t special – he was like this with everyone, I was sure. This was just his normal, even though it was my extraordinary.'
Maggie, Oh Maggie, I loved you, I was mad at you but mostly I felt sad for you. She goes through every woman’s worst nightmare but she came out of it stronger and confident in herself, But her confidence in men and their ability to be faithful has since been shattered. After discovering her fiancé having sex with her maid of honor ON HER WEDDING DAY, Maggie is in no way ready or willing to get into another relationship. But who can turn down one of the sexiest men alive? So she comes up with a set of rules for their friends with benefits relationship that include a deadline for it to all end and the fact that above all else it must remain a secret between them. With her bother being Cooper’s best friend their relationship (or lack of) the tension is high and the drama intense.
‘I didn’t trust myself to make decisions about Cooper. He gave me his heart, and I took it too soon. And now, I was about to drop it. Break it. Shatter it.’
It would be so easy to yell at Maggie to put her personal baggage aside and forget about Cooper’s man whore past and give in to what we the reader can so clearly see is both an incredible chemistry and a real connection. But honestly that would have neither been true to the character nor make for an exciting story. It is in their struggle to figure out not only who they are as a unit but also who they are becoming as individuals that makes this a captivating and dynamic book. They both go through an epic journey that it almost feels like a voyeur to witness it all and I DEVOURED every moment of it.
‘And when I thought back over the past few weeks, I realized that she wasn’t a spark. She was a wildfire.'
GAH! The things that man says pierce my heart and capture my soul. I so desperately want my own Cooper Moore, and I am a hard critic on the typical reformed playboys. But Cooper transforms himself and once he realizes his heart is captured he is relentless in capturing Maggie’s too. Cooper is a closet nerd and well known Man God that every girl wants to have even if it is just for a night. Staci Hart is an expert in the male POV. She makes you love them, understand them, desire them. I saw him fall in love with Maggie through his eyes and it was utterly beautiful. While her females are strong and relatable, her true talent as an author is the ability to get inside these complex and beautiful men. I find that this is a skill few female writers does as well as Staci.
“Always thinking with your Mini Cooper, aren’t you?”
He gave me a look that might have blown up my panties. “Oh, I don’t think mini would be the adjective most people would use.”
I wet my lips, scrambling for composure under the heat of his gaze. “No, you’re probably right about that. But Giant Hammerhead Cooper doesn’t quite have a ring to it, does it?”
Mixed in with deep emotion and a story of Cooper and Maggie’s struggle is a quick wit that eases the tension that builds from page one in this secret lovers story. Beautiful writing and heartfelt declarations, Chaser will have you screaming from the rooftops that EVERYONE needs to read this book! It is impossible not to feel for Maggie’s predicament and you will most definitely fall in love with Cooper Moore (and yes you must say his full name cause it is just too sexy, and also DIBS because he is mine!)
Staci Hart gives love from behind a new meaning as she tests the waters of one friendship, keeping us teetering on the edge of heartbreak before shoving us off the cliff into an anguish filled abyss.
There are some times where you go into a book thinking you know one thing. Most times you are 99.9% accurate, but then there are times where your heart can not fathom and your brain can not imagine what that story will do to you. Those times are the times where the author's words will literally knock the air right out of you.
With a Twist was a breath of fresh air, but Chaser is that knock!! It's not some choice drink used to chase down some cheap shot. It is the shot and Staci's words are beautifully strung together sentences that will wrap themselves around your soul.
Cooper Moore is an enigma. A seductive mystery man full of sentimental gestures. From the very first page in his POV every word he spoke and thought he had caused flutters in my belly. He is so genuine and sincere, emotionally cut wide open and exposed in the most intimate ways that you can't help but fall in love with everything that is Cooper Moore. He is MORE, a word I now associate with him. MORE than some smooth talking, rich playboy who loves to party. MORE than what his friends think of him. He is a man looking for his purpose in life while stealing pieces of a woman he was never supposed to have.
Maggie Williams has more rules than a virgin set on staying pure. Having her heart not only broken but ripped out, she'll protect it from now on even if that means she has to run. The old naive Maggie is gone, and the new guarded Maggie is here. She's in control and won't be swayed, the only thing she has to offer is her broken pieces that Cooper so willingly takes over and over again... Or so she thinks. In reality, she's a wounded bird trapped in a cage by fear. She underestimated Cooper Moore's persuasive skills and never expected to fall in love again... or perhaps for the first time in actuality.
From Maggie's curly hair and freckled face to Cooper's extensive knowledge of comic books and sailing, these two take you on a journey of self discovery as Coop and Mags try to beat the odds of what happens when you fall in love with the right person at the wrong time.
Where With a Twist was full of laugh out louds, Chaser is full of heart stopping moments that managed to touch another part of me. One that craves angst. That part of me has been seared forever by Cooper Moore and Maggie Williams.
Bottom line, this book was–no is pure freaking MAGIC!! I want to scream so loud "BUY THIS BOOK", but at the same time I want to hide away with it, keeping its secrets safe forever in my heart and fresh on my mind.
* She took a breath. That breath stole mine. I'd never seen anything so beautiful and broken. Not in all my life. *
Just when you think you know Hart's style, just when you think you know what this book is about, just when you think you know ANYTHING - the words on these pages completely obliterate that assumptive knowledge and you're left drowning in an ocean of feels.
To say that I love this book would be literally the biggest understatement of the year. I've tried, for weeks, ever since I finished this book, to come up with the right words to review it. Honestly, I've never felt so pressured - why? Because I honestly feel like there are no words to do it justice. None. Not in the English language, at least. Anyone around here know French? Spanish? Help a sister out.
This is what you THINK you're getting: bad boy meets good girl, sex happens, things get complicated, they figure it out, the end.
WRONG.
Think again. Scratch all of that and prepare yourself for one hell of a ride. The feelings in this book were so real and yet UNreal because you just can't take them all. First of all, the book is FUNNY. Like, hilarious, laugh out loud, spew out your soda funny. Add the steam, the feels, and the raw emotions and I don't know what you have - a witch's brew for romantic epicness? Something like that. Whatever it is, you'll want it - you'll want to drink the whole pot. Quickly, yet so slow you feel every moment.
Cooper... GAH, just thinking about him on a sailboat gets me all worked up. I haven't fallen that hard for a book boyfriend in a LONG time.
*"I'll make you forget he ever existed."*
DEAD. I AM DEAD.
And Mags is so sweet, yet so broken, and you go on this incredible, life-altering journey with her. You LIVE with her in the middle of something I can't imagine enduring.
*It was like nothing I could have imagined. I had no idea ships could fly.*
Take all of this and add a splash of the Habits crew and I just feel like you have nothing less than perfection. I want to BE a Habits peep. I want to drink whiskey with West and Lil, laugh with Mags and Coop, feel the sexual tension between Rose and Tricky (which, PS, back off because I TOTALLY call dibs on Trick).
Five stars really isn't enough, but I guess it will do. Whatever you have to move around, bump Chaser up to the tip top of your TBR. You'll laugh hysterically, ache in the best and worst ways, and overall, find redemption in love. Bravo, Staci Hart. Bravo.
OH. YAS.
OH. MY. YAS.
Cooper. Mothah-Effing. Moore.
This hero is what every woman wants. He's so perfect and flawed. Hart totally takes him on an emotional journey of not only falling in love but getting his playboy head out of his ass, I mean, behind. He is everything I never saw coming after meeting him in With a Twist. He's sexy. He's smart AF. He's gentle and manly as all get out!
Maggie. Pixie. Williams.
This girl. I get her. I get all of the ish she's doing: the avoidance of her feelings, her flight, all of it. She makes sense. I mean, we've all be where she's been. Maybe without the "cheating fiancé-Maid of Honor-in the church" scenario, but we know what it's like to hide our feelings underneath someone else's body. She's just a sweet girl trying to figure out what she wants and needs out of life.
This is my favorite of the Bad Habits series so far, and I really liked With a Twist (Bad Habits). It's a different kind of comedy and an even better love story. Who would have thought I would say that! :) Hart brings humor and relatable feelings to the billionaire story. There will be laughter. There will be tears. There will be steam. There will be feels on feels on feels!
Books later I am still thinking about this book. Staci Hart, get out of my brain! JUST KIDDING! Never leave me! I'm obsessed. Utterly obsessed. This book is EVERYTHING. I don't want to spoil it for everyone.... but I totally do. JUST GO READ THIS SUCKER!
I can't wait for book three.
But for real, The more I think about it, the more that I can't even handle all of my feelings. Just know that this book gives you all of the things you wanted from Cooper and the Habits Crew.
What are you waiting for?
Go find out why you never would have seen this dark horse of a hero coming!
Hey Cooper,
If only I could make my lady cave your batcave.;)
I don't know what I can say about this book to convey how super-cute it was. It's the sort of book that gives you a perma-smile while reading it. To be quite honest it's the kind of book that I wanted to read in one sitting but somehow life got in the way. Trust me, many evil looks were given when I was disturbed from reading this book.
You will remember Maggie and Cooper from With a Twist. Maggie is West's younger sister who has just moved to NYC after being cheated on by her fiancé on her wedding day. Cooper is West's very hot friend who doesn't take life super seriously and is a bit of a playboy.
Maggie and Cooper enter into a secret no-strings, rules-based arrangement. We all know how these things work, they never stay secret nor do they stay feelings-free.
Cooper has always been the epitome of a playboy. He has his celebrity status and his wealth to fund his carefree lifestyle. But there is so much more to him that he doesn't show anyone besides Maggie. Dare I say he is a closet nerd? Maggie on the other hand is still licking her wounds from her botched wedding. She didn't actually get the closure that she really needed in order to move on. These two don't sound perfect for each other on paper but that's exactly what they are. Perfect for each other. Maggie gave Cooper a reason to grow up and become something for not just himself but for her. She gave him purpose...her. In turn, Cooper cherished Maggie and proved to her that there there is someone out there for her to love her the way she deserves.
I loved this story, there is some fabulous angst and the chemistry between these two was awesome. Plus, there are scenes with the rest of the gang yet you could definitely read this one as a standalone. The writing was seamless and made the book that much more enjoyable.
The Bad Habits series has become one of my favorite New Adult series and I can't wait to see what is in store for us next.
This book starts our from the end of Book One. Maggie is recovering from her wedding debacle and has moved to NYC for a change of pace......one change is having a secret fling with Cooper Moore - her brothers best friend. But there are rules and it will only be for a month......or will it?
Cooper is a rich bachelor who is in with the "IT" crowd but really is a nerd at heart. He reveals his true self to Mags one night - his DC / Marvel collection. She is in awe when she sees his full Batman suit. "Please tell me you're not actually Batman." Cooper's other greatest love is sailing, he asks Maggie to join him for the weekend, no rules, and just enjoy each others company and a quick trip to the Hampton's. Maggie and Cooper together are perfect.... he sees it but how can he convince her what she knows deep down to be true? Will her past be put to rest or will Jimmy win her back?
Things I loved about this book, firstly anything set in my favourite place, NYC is a bonus for me. Secondly, Cooper is the dashing playboy that we all want to read about and has met his match with Megs and goes about winning her over with sweet gestures and words, so swoon worthy. Relationships are new to him, and her previous love being a cheater, they are sailing in new territory together. It's just a joy to read. If you loved the first book, you wont be disappointed with this second one, as I loved it just as much.
I received a copy for an honest review.
Chaser es ligeramente mejor que With A Twist, no me costo trabajo pasar las paginas, y la historia aunque bastante tipica, fue linda.
Mi problema sigue siendo el mismo, la historia de amor y los protagonistas no me terminan de transmitir lo que se supone que deben. Paso las hojas y aunque lo que narra y los personajes estan bien, no logran enamorarme tanto como espero, ademas en algunas ocasiones siento muy artificial y poco natural ciertas escenas ( mas en el libro de West y Lily, que este segundo tomo ).
Y pese a que Maggie y Cooper no me resultaron tan forzados, y su romance fue sencillo y tierno, para mi no es la historia de amor epica que muchas otras personas encontraron en Chaser.
Por otro lado, los personajes por separado tampoco brillan demasiado, considero que les falta un poco mas de profundidad, especialmente para que se queden mas tiempo en tu recuerdo, aun asi, esta pareja principal fue mucho mas de mi agrado que la del primer libro.
Resumiendo, Chaser fue una lectura entretenida, eso si, algunos capitulos se me hicieron un poco mas tediosos de leer ( sobre todo los ultimos, senti que eran un tanto repetitivos ), pero esta bien para pasar una tarde o noche de ocio.
Chaser, is the beautiful, powerful, intense follow up to With A Twist. Full of angst, passion and heartbreaking reality Chaser is pure perfection in a book.
Cooper & Maggie's story is one that will keep you teetering on the edge of your seat gripping your hair while they balance on the will they, won't they see-saw. You will find yourself sucked deep into their immense story feeling every spark of passion, every strand of hope and every beat of thier hearts with love.
Staci's writing is once again exquisite and implants itself deep within your soul. Her words and impeccable story telling take you on a magical journey that will leave you spellbound and desperate for more.
Chaser ends in the most perfect way, I actually read the epilogue through my tears. I fell in love with With A Twist and wondered how Staci would top it as she set the bar so high BUT she not only topped it, she blew it out the freaking water!!
“Making you smile gives me life. Making you laugh gives me hope. Making you happy is all I want, other than to keep you.”
Weston Williams captivated my heart, but I found my soul mate in Cooper Moore.
God, this man is a true unicorn. He's multi facet. Gorgeous, wealthy, with a killer smile that'll melt your panties right off. Plus, he's a nerd!! Yes, you heard that right-A NERD #sigh #spiritanimal
I can't say I want to have his babies because Brie would get stabby, but secretly we're married and living happily ever after =D
Enough said about Cooper, now on to Maggie.
She's one of the sweetest, funniest, lovable heroines ever!! And she's one lucky biatch for owning Cooper's heart completely ❤ Don't even get me started on her adorable curls and southern accent. I wish she was my friend in real life.
LOVE really isn't a strong enough word to even describe what I feel towards her... What I feel about this book!! It had everything I look for. It was funny, it was angsty, it made me cry, and it was full of romance. Just feels, feels everywhere!!!!
Chaser is the perfect cup of tea. I can't thank Staci enough for her brilliant mind and for always adding a piece of herself into her stories. She's by far become one of my many favorite authors.
“See, when I met Cooper, something in me shifted on an elemental level, as if he changed my chemistry, rearranged me. I needed him, but not in the desperate way. Being with him was a universal truth. It was a quiet fact. Once I found him, the world made sense simply because he was in it and he loved me.”
I feel like author Staci Hart has truly found her voice, and that even if I didn't enjoy the story or characters, the narrative personality alone would keep me happy.
But as it happens, I totally LOVED the story and characters. Cooper is a rich playboy, but not a douchebag--that's important to note. And Maggie is running away from a traumatic failed wedding. The two of them should have been able to indulge in a no-strings style fling, but it turns out Cooper has more depth than either of them thought. And Maggie, ready or not, is being handed his heart.
There's nothing formulaic in either this, or With A Twist. The book opens with Maggie and Cooper hooking up, and I love the realism of it. Sex and love don't always go hand-in-hand, they don't always happen in the "right" order, and this book is very up front and realistic about that. It doesn't romanticize sex, which I appreciate so much. And yet the love story ends up being so poignant and sweet.
I also love that even though Cooper is the quintessential rich playboy, this book isn't about money-fantasy. There's no buying of expensive gifts and wooing with shopping sprees--not that there's anything wrong with that...I love Pretty Woman as much as the next girl. But that's not what this book is. Cooper and Maggie's story is down-to-earth and deeply accessible. I loved it!
I'm not even surprised anymore. This is just more of what I've come to expect from this author: unique characters, flirty-sexy love stories, and a witty, vivacious voice.
The book was cute and sexy. I had a good time reading it for the most post, but towards the end, the story started to drag a bit. There is too much talking and Maggie came across as whiny and annoying. The hero is sexy fabulous though. Loved me some Cooper!
To be honest, I'm not too sure what I was expecting with Chaser, With A Twist was my first book by Staci Hart, and I loved every second of it, I love the friends to lovers stories, it's pretty much my crack, so when we meet wealthy playboy Cooper Moore he seems to have it all together...looks, money, women throwing themselves at him, no real job to screw with his bachelor lifestyle, things seem to be coasting along for him, I think I almost expected a tried and true formulaic story about a rich Manwhore who gets tamed by some sweet naïve girl, but Chaser is so much more than that.
West Williams sister Maggie had it all figured out, she was getting married to her childhood sweetheart, surrounded by her best friends and family, that all ended when she walked in on her fiancé and maid of honour going at it on her wedding day, suddenly her wedding was off with good reason, and she's never felt more alone and confused despite the brave face she's wielding like a mask for all those around her.
When Cooper and Maggie embark on a casual sex relationship, the rules are clear, no dates, no romantic feelings, no staying the night, no screwing around with anyone else and in one month it all ends, it seems like the perfect way for Maggie to her over the painful events that brought her to New York, and Cooper is the perennial playboy, he doesn't do relationships, he doesn't do romance and it will all be over long before any feelings can develop so there's no way it could possibly go wrong...right??
As we wade into the murky waters of both Maggie and Cooper's pasts we realise not everything is as it seems, Maggie may seem like the one who is guarding her heart at all costs but there's more to Cooper than meets the eye, for every cleverly crafted image he puts out there, there's a vastly different one he's keeping close to his chest, and for the reader it's thrilling to discover who Cooper really is.
"Making you smile gives me life. Making you laugh gives me hope. Making you happy is all I want, other than to keep you."
I loved every second of Chaser, I loved watching Maggie struggle to find herself and separate her fears from her regrets, I loved catching up with West and Lily and where their relationship had taken them, I loved seeing Rose and Tricky orbit each other with minimal interaction (and just quietly I really hope we get their story) and I loved getting to know Astrid a little better. Reading Chaser was like catching up with old friends, sitting down for a drink with them and hearing what they were up to and what they were doing. Hart proves that she can write an ensemble cast of characters that make you greedy for her next book, for her words, because there is so much good here that I found myself devouring the pages and simultaneously trying to savour every word, everything about Chaser was a heady combination of friends you wish were your own, romance, sexy times and laughs that not only had me invested but utterly captivated, with moments of quiet desperation as Maggie struggles to find herself again, to the sheer beauty of seeing two people connect on a soul deep level, the swoony rush that comes with the whispered words and secret glances left me feeling both sated and exhilarated and I can't wait to see where Ms Hart takes this series next.
You know that feeling when you finish a book and it happens to be the first in a series and the moment you finish the first book you instantly want to read the second (but you have to wait)... that book becomes everything you want. You want it right this minute, you feel like if you have to wait one more day for it, you won’t even survive. Chaser was that book for me and now that I’ve read it, the suffering starts all over because Last Call isn’t out yet and I NEED IT!!!!!!!
We meet both Cooper and Maggie in With A Twist as part of the Habit’s gang. Cooper is the wealthy playboy who doesn’t seem to have a care in the world or a responsible bone in his body. Maggie is West’s little sister who moves to New York after catching her soon to be husband banging her best friend moments before the wedding. But what no one knew was that Cooper and Maggie’s story started long before she moved to New York.
With the rules firmly in place, Maggie is free to get her rocks off while not risking her heart or having to trust her judgement with men. Cooper is the perfect fit. A man that she knows has no desire for anything complicated and the man that turned her worst day into something so much more.
For Cooper Moore, he’s never really known what comes next. Happily playing the playboy but yet something changes when Maggie comes into his life. Suddenly he sees what he could have. What he does have and what he’s willing to do to ensure he can keep it. Keep her.
I love a romance where the hero falls for a friends little sister! It adds an element to the story that increases the drama and angst with ease. Toss in a woman that is all sorts of broken and the man-whore that has come to his senses and is completely 100% ready for it... well that is just perfection in my crazy little book world.
I can’t get over how swoony Cooper was. Everything he did was perfect. I swear my knees went weak every time this man opened his mouth. And although Maggie was all sort of broken, I fell in complete love with her and I just wanted her to get to a place where she could accept what Cooper was ready to give her.
Staci Hart’s Bad Habit’s Series is my it series of 2015. I loved West’s story, Lurved Coopers and can’t wait for Patrick’s (which I think might be the best of the series). There is not a single thing about this book, about this series that I did not love.
OHMAGAAAAA I loved this book!!! Seriously I will be making it a goal to read every single one of Staci’s books by the end of the year. I have no idea why this is only the 2nd book of hers that I’ve read, but that is going to change ASAP.
OK back to Chaser. This story follows Maggie and Cooper, who we’ve previously met in book one of the series, With a Twist. Maggie is West’s sister who comes to live in New York after a heartbreaking break up. Cooper Moore (it just sounds better when you use his full name) is West’s best friend.
When Maggie and Cooper start hooking up, it was just supposed to be for fun. NO FEELINGS INVOLVED. There were rules. No dates. No sleepovers. No falling for each other. Maggie just wanted to forget about what happened to her, and who better to do it with than Mr. Manwhore himself. Neither of them knew things would become more than what it was. What happens when one of them want more, and the other is too scared of what could happen?
I’ll admit I was completely shocked to see Cooper the way he was. In With a Twist, knew him as the famous, pretty, model friend that has sex with everyone. I was shocked to see the REAL Cooper. He’s such a beautiful, amazing guy who did what anyone in his position with fame and looks would have done. But the second he found something to inspire him, make him want to do better, he went with it and didn’t stop until it was his.
Chaser was such a good story. I found myself laughing, tearing up, and at times anxious. I was rooting for Copper and Mags the whole time. I so badly wanted them to just fall in love and just love each other forever and ever. I felt the hurt that Maggie was going through, and goodness I felt so heartbroken for her.
Chaser is the story of letting go in multiple ways. Moving on; letting go of being scared, and instead welcoming new love. I seriously couldn’t love this book more, it was so amazing. A well-deserved 5 stars for Chaser!!
Do yourself a favor and pick up this amazing book!!
I have mad, MAD love for this series. It's sad and sweet and feels terribly real as these characters struggle through their issues. *gives Staci Hart big, sloppy kisses for all the awesome*
I understood Maggie. Was it hard watching her keep Cooper at arm's length even though it was obvious he adored her? Yes. Yes, it was. But I could understand her reasoning. I could totally see where she was coming from. After the debacle with her fiancé, she doesn't trust herself or her judgement when it comes to men. So she throws herself into the idea of a physical relationship with a very real deadline and refuses to allow herself to be hurt by pushing aside all the signs she's falling for Coop.
And Cooper. Oh, Coop. For a playboy with no history of commitment, he sold me on his devotion mighty quickly. I loved that Maggie's presence in his life gave him purpose. Honestly, there was a lot about Cooper to love. Sexy, filthy rich, and willing to make big changes in his life in order to have Maggie beside him. <3 <3 <3 *draws sparkly hearts around Coop*
We got face time with West and Lily (for the record, I still love West's man bun) and have some great set-up for Rose and Tricky's story. I love, love, love the relationship between the friends (even when it's a little rocky) and want to spend oodles of time in this world. Between now and the next book, I guess I'll have to tide myself over with a reread or two.
I'm not at all against this idea. =D
Chaser is my first book by Staci Hart, and I LOVED IT! I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough, so I finished it in one sitting.
Maggie Williams caught her fiance' doing her maid of honor an hour before her wedding ceremony. If that wasn't bad enough, she also finds out that he's been cheating on her with numerous women around town. Humiliated, she decides to relocate to New York near her brother. Cooper Moore has always viewed Maggie as his best friends' off limits, little sister, until he saw her heartbroken but putting on a strong face the night of her wedding that didn't take place. Now everything has changed, as he now wants to be the one to protect her and make her his. Maggie, however, sees Cooper as a major player who doesn't do commitment, and that suits her perfectly because she refuses to get attached to any man again. Can Cooper convince her to give him a real chance for a shot at something great?
I LOVED this story! The story line is fantastic, and flows smoothly. Character development is great, and it's refreshing to see a female main character running from commitment. Did I want to choke Maggie from time to time? Absolutely, but I also felt her pain and related to her as well. The chemistry is off the charts, and the sexy scenes are SMOKIN HOT! Staci Hart is a talented author with a great writing style, and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future.
Chaser comes to us as book 2 of the Bad Habits series. It can be read as a standalone but I definitely recommend With A Twist first. Staci Hart knows how to write romantic comedy.
Maggie is new to New York City. On the heels of being cheated on on her wedding day, she decides to move to be close to her brother and his best friends and get a fresh start with her life. She's only 22 and has nothing to lose.
"He looked like a snake charmer -- when he looked at me like that, like he could see me, I swear I'd do whatever he asked."
Cooper Moore is your typical NYC bachelor/player/heir. He doesn't take life seriously and doesn't need to. Everything changes for him when he realizes that his fling with Maggie is so much more than that and will go to great lengths to prove that to her, rules be damned.
"She wasn't a spark. She was a wildfire."
I absolutely adored Maggie and Cooper's story. Chaser is heartfelt, funny and just a great read. Maggie and Cooper have a super sexy relationship and it was a quick, light and funny ride to HEA.
Great writing. Emotional story.
I loved West & Lily's story and I was very excited for this. This is about Cooper and Maggie. We met them in With A Twist and now it's time to see their story.
Cooper is a womaniser and a player. He is not into dating. He doesn't do serious relationships...until Maggie, his best friend's sister. They click. The attraction is strong. They keep it physical.
Maggie is recovering from a huge betrayal. She wants to focus on mending her heart so an affair with Cooper seems perfect and harmless.
But Cooper is not just a player and Maggs is not just another conquest. Feelings get in the way and the easy-and secret- affair becomes complicated. But is our couple ready to recognise their situation for what it is?
I love the author's writing. It's easy to follow and honest. Her characters are fun and real and you can feel the emotions she tries to imprint on her pages. The book was a real page turner and very entertaining. There is humour, love, passion and honest friendship. Her characters are flawed but incredibly relatable. I loved this.
Do not miss this amazing story. It's unique and heart-warming.
Excellent job.
Time to get lost in Mr.M. ;)))))))))
