I liked this one a lot!

I need to mention that I bought the entire Scooby-Doo and You series off a seller from Australia on Ebay, because I had a sudden craving for this chapter book series that I loved as a small kid. The Scooby-Doo and You series was a subscription I got from a Scholastic pamphlet at school that my mom kindly let me order (I wanted everything on that pamphlet everytime we got them, believe me; only a few times did my mom give in and get me something). For the first month's package, they gave you 3 books and a cardboard cutout of the Mystery Machine that you could fold together to make a container for all your books. Every month until you reach the end of the series (or until you unsubscribe), you'd get 3 more books. There's something like 20 books in this series.

Anyway, I LOVED these books as a kid and would read them over and over. What was cool about them was that they included "you" as a character (as in yourself), interacting with the Scooby gang and solving the mystery along with them. Suspects and clues are marked clearly, and you have to use all of them to figure out who it is before the reveal.

While some of the books have fun twists, most of the books are really easy to solve, since they're made for young children to follow and decode. But still, they're always entertaining and as an adult, I find them sooo cozy. One book takes about an hour to read, so it feels like a Saturday morning episode of the cartoon.

On to this actual book, The Case of the Leaping Lion was really entertaining. The setting is a failing zoo, and the mystery was actually pretty interesting. There was a good amount of red herrings that I actually flip-flopped between the suspects this time. The ending was satisfying. This is one of the better titles for sure. Really cute!

The boy enjoyed reading this story, but I thought the mystery was a little bit basic nad not as fun as an actual ghost - just a slightly larger than normal lion.

This was a fun and light Scooby Doo mystery. The characters felt familiar and entertaining, especially Scooby and Shaggy’s humor. The plot was simple but enjoyable with a decent level of suspense for a younger audience and
even though I could predict the mystery now that I’m older, I still liked the concept and the reveal behind it.

Read this with my son and we had a lot of fun trying to figure out the clues and who did it. Need to find more of these.

The Case of the Leaping Lion is much like the other Scooby-Doo Collect the Clues mystery. Julia loves them because she's more involved in the story than when it's only being read to her. She sometimes has trouble remembering suspects names but with a little help she does just fine.
I like the fact that they're different than most children's books.
This was slightly more difficult for Julia because of the virtual lion. She's not really able to fully grasp "virtual" yet. She had some trouble with how the lion was able to chase people and with the only picture shown at the end it's easy to see why a young child would have trouble understanding it. Besides this small aspect the book is just like the rest and Julia did enjoy it.
