Not my favorite translation, but certainly the longest translation in the English language. It has taken a while and when I reflect on the changes in my personal life in this time; the people lost and experiences gained—I could have never envisioned that on the other side of the start of reading this Bible where my life would be at its end. Reading the Bible should always offer such reflections on life and our immediate surroundings. One translation is not necessarily superior to another, so a full blown "review" or critique of this translation is to do so to God's Word, which none of us will be able to ever do. I will say, however, that in Luke 17:34 Jesus is describing -
"I tell you, on that night [when Messiah comes again] there will be two [sleeping] in one bed; the one (the non-believer) will be taken [away in judgment] and the other (the believer) will be left."
This continues to V36.
You should know that the Amplified Bible states the following in its Explanation of General Format respecting parentheses and brackets, the following:
Parentheses: In Roman type () supply the definition in context of the preceding name, place, or word. When the Amplified Bible is read aloud the definition in context may be skipped over.
Brackets: In Roman type [] contain justified words, phrases, or brief commentary not fully expressed in the preceding English text, but which are validated by the meaning of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek, or are validated elsewhere by Scripture. The amplifications within brackets serve many purposes. They may expand the depth of meaning in the underlying Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek word; they may clarify a theological word or concept; they may expand a teaching or principle; they may supply information that helps the reader grasp the context of the passage.
In other words, as shown above, the idea that the one taken is the unbeliever and not the believer, as is conventionally accepted, is not conjecture but raw interpretation. It is the only instance of such an unconventional interpretation that I recall having found.
Aside from a very small handful of typos (perhaps 2 or 3), this Bible was excellently published (by Zondervan). Officially it is called the Outreach Bible, which is slightly different than the issue shown on the image here. The ISBN of the one I read is 978-0-310-44700-9.
This is an amazing Bible, as all of the "Amplified" Bibles in my collection are. I am able to very simply focus on various ways of Saturating myself in YAH's Word. Bless!!! Hallelu-Yah!!!✊🏾 🦁👑
