Pete Dunne writes about the cult of birding with insight and deft sarcasm. I ha several “are you okay?” looks from my daughter as I chuckled and laughed while reading this one. Makes me want to chase down the rest of his essays.

Amateur or professional "birder", you will chuckle in delight at these essays on birders and their enthusiasm, doggedness and yes, sometimes deceit :)

This is a quick, light book that passes on information about birders (and sometimes the birds themselves), often in a humorous manner. It's made up of 33 very short essays, some better than others but overall, most are enjoyable. Birders (and their loved ones) will "get" it. I read it easily in one sitting.

Being married to a birder helps me relate to much of this book. Pete Dunne has a witty and enjoyable style of writing.

I found some of the essays to be good, others pompous.
