After over forty years enslaved in the body of a cat, Tom finally has a second chance. He's regained his freedom and found happiness in the arms of kind, beautiful Cassie, who has eagerly embraced both Tom and her new-found talent as a witch. Tom's future is looking bright.
But his former captor, Eunice, isn't done with him even after the whole town turned out to her funeral. She's back, and she's bent on taking everything away again, with Cassie at the top of the list. Tom is willing to sacrifice everything to save the girl he loves, but will his last two lives and a little help from his witchy friends be enough?
The Bad Tom Series is best enjoyed when read in order starting with The Familiar: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy.
Jill Nojack is a writer, musician and artist. She has rarely managed to make a living from the pursuit of her creative endeavors. Instead, she is a corporate drone who stays up late to indulge her passions. This passion paid off in 2015 when her book The Familiar: Book One in the Bad Tom Series was selected by readers for publication on Kindle Press through the Kindle Scout award program.
Ms. Nojack has cred. Way back in the long ago, she romped through a degree in English. She followed it up with a Master’s degree in Sociology. During her time at University she served on the staff of the school’s literary magazine. She eventually stepped in to the editor’s role.
When she isn’t exploring her creative side, Jill enjoys laughing too loud and long in public and talking about herself in third person. She resides in the great American Midwest with a long-suffering cat.
This was a good read. The possessed Cassie's POV was funny to read, and I liked seeing all the old people work together as a team to save Cassie. It was almost like a mystery novel. There was very little romance since Cassie isn't herself most of the time. I thought that the novel talked about Tom not abandoning Cassie too much, since this was already mentioned in the first book. There isn't any particularly new aspect of Tom that's uncovered.
Book Two of the Bad Tom Series starts out in Tom's POV. Tom is a shapeshifter cat who's used up seven of his nine lives. As the book opens, he's racing across town in his cat persona, but he's too late. His girlfriend has been taken over by a witch from the grave.
Tom is desperate to get Cassie back, but the coven moves at glacial speed. His sense of urgency pushes him to take all kinds of risks, but it will all be worth it if he can save Cassie.
This was a quick, fun read. I picked it up because I read the first book in the series, which was a Kindle Scout winner. Nojack writes fluidly, and the pages fly by at a pleasing rate. If you're like me, you'll be so engrossed you won't want to "shift" out of your chair!

This book was awesome! I was so much better than the first! This one gave a lot of sense to many of the thing that I didn't get or like from the first book, at first I couldn't understand how Eunice could be so cruel to anyone, including her own blood, but now that I know what she was, it totally makes sense! I loved all the Egyptian mythology, I loved even more that when I when looking for it, it wasn't that far off! And I really enjoyed getting in the mind of the villain for this one!
I can say book 1 and this book is funny and it was interesting to read. I can't wait for book 3 and I'm hoping it's just as funny and interesting to read too. Thank you C. A. Harlow
No more goddess possession. However cat lost another life and that means that Tom has only one cat life left. Gillian is getting close to Robert. Nat is still high priestess. Who knows what's next in store.
I really enjoyed the second installment in this series it's as good as the first one and we get to know more about some of the characters introduced in the first volume. I won't spoiler the content here just saying that I'm really looking forward to the third book which will be released in April 2016.
Just when he thought freedom and happiness were in reach, Tom’s nemesis and former captor Eunice is back from the dead – and has hijacked his beloved Cassie’s body. Feuding witches from the local coven pull together to tackle the problem. Snarky conversations, hilarious escapades, few remaining cat lives, and a ticked-off tom cat create an engrossing story you won’t want to put down.
Bad Tom is a very good series with twisted storyline with a familiar as a tomcat. Worthy read of witches spells and romantic overture as Cat falls in love with owner 'Cassie'.
Love this author and love her books! While I felt a little disjointed jumping in during the middle of a scene I quickly found my reading feet and was swept away for the book itself. Very excited to be reading another Jill Nojack book!
