Yes, there is a cliffhanger
I hate cliffhangers. what's the point? You pull your readers in only to drop them on their faces. Especially when the book is only 100+pages long.
From the moment ruby kept such a big secret I wanted to dnf. You've been married to this man for 10 years, had two kids by him and you cannot trust him enough to tell him you're scared?! I believe the vows are "in sickness and in health" ... he is not your daddy. He is your husband.
I wanted to dnf again when the cheating started. I cannot stand it, I wanted to throw my kindle. Still I pushed forward because I wanted them to prevail; then I got slapped with a cliffhanger...
The business part of me gets it, cliffhangers keep your readers coming back. You make money. You're happy, the publisher is happy. Everyone but the CUSTOMER is happy. As a reader I say, have the common courtesy to drop the 2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th... however many installments you plan to have CLOSE TOGETHER. Just my humble opinion.
