Floating In Space: A novel set in a vanished world ;Manchester - 1977 no mobiles, no laptops, no Internet!

Rate this book
'An engaging read which I thoroughly enjoyed' is how one reviewer described 'Floating in Space.' Another said he 'loved every page.' A young man tires of his mundane office job in Manchester, quits everything to go and live in Spain, then returns home disillusioned. His next journey around the streets of Manchester in 1977 is not the one he imagined he would be taking! No mobile phones, no laptops, and no Internet, and a pint of bitter cost 25p! Floating in Space is a kitchen sink drama in the same tradition as 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' and 'A kind of Loving’. The novel’s talkative, first person narrative combines humour, observation and drama set against a background of late seventies urban Manchester. The spirit of working class life in 1977 is affectionately recreated in this well observed memoir. How many real life Manchester pubs and bars will you recognise? Fabulous story of the olden days I loved reading about the 1970's and reminiscing about the good days.
