DEATHLESSNESS HAS CONSEQUENCES. In Chris' case, it is his allegiance to the Dawnbringers - one of the ruling houses of the ancient city of Demos Geras, whose daughter he has grown to love. But there is a traitor from the capital, one whose plans involve the murder of the ruling houses to plunge all of kindredkind into war.
Born to kindred nobility, Elline's life is one of duty and responsibility; and her betrothal to the Magister of Demos Geras might prove to be the saving grace in the coming chaos. But when she become responsible for Chris' death and life thereafter, she cannot deny her growing affections for him as well.
With imminent danger ahead, Chris must choose to either pursue his love for Elline or preserve the peace between man and kindred, while Elline must decide to fulfill her vow to the Council before her feelings for Chris cause her to forsake her birthright.
If I could describe this book in one word, it would be inconsistent.
This book saddens me because it has a lot of potential only it's being held back by inconsistency that's just too hard to ignore. I end up feeling like this was released too soon. If only it was polished more I feel like it would have been huge.
Misspelled words, missing sentences/paragraphs that would have made the next sentence/paragraph make sense, characters exchanging roles in the middle of the story, past events referred to but did not exist the previous chapters (probably edited out), unusual terms with no clarifications (especially the who and what), confusing point of views that were usually too erratic jumping from one to another (especially the first few chapters), etc. The errors were everywhere. There were too many things the author wanted to happened that ended up left unexplained and confusing for me. These things just made me want to put the book down and just stop because they cause confusion and make me lose interest. These things I believe would've been avoided had there been a meticulous editor. Half the time I was tempted to pick up a red pen and put in my commentary at the margins. There was that many obvious errors... Am I being nit picky? That's up to you to decide.
What did keep me going though was my interest with the blade dancers. Had they not been introduced this book would've gone to my "did not finish" list (not that long a list mind you).
Bottom line, I had my ups and downs with this book unfortunately mostly downs. It has a lot of potential, definitely, but right now it feels like a "too soon" release. I would be hesitant to read the next book.
If you’re looking for a wild ride of supernatural thrills and high-stakes drama, look no further!
This book is the perfect blend of adrenaline-pumping action and intricately crafted plot twists. Imagine diving into a universe where X-Men-like humans with extraordinary powers walk among us, paired with Mortal Instruments-level combat scenes and a dash of Twilight-esque high school romance. Our protagonist’s world flips upside down when he meets someone different, and from there, it’s a non-stop rollercoaster of heart-pounding moments and edge-of-your-seat suspense.
The world-building here is top-notch, the dialogues snap with wit, and the storyline is anything but predictable—get ready to guess and second-guess who’s going to make it out alive. (I have to say this… I got my heart broken.) And I’m already itching to find out what happens next with Chris and Elline!!
DA Chan, you’ve spun a truly captivating tale that sparkles like a gem. Looks like I’ll be reading Book 2 now! ;)
P.S. I don't think I'll get over this: “I will be your wind.” “You are my wind.”
Between Two Worlds is a gripping fantasy novel that has subtle echoes of loved fantasy classics such as Harry Potter. The world that D.A Chan conjured is massively unique-- pulling you to unravel more of its secret and beauty.
The strongest points in this novel, for me, is the world and the battles. I was constantly at the edge of my seat, especially when the blade dancers begin to listen to their songs. It's wholly different from a lot of the fantasy novels I've read but at the same time, also strikes a familiar comfort. The world was well thought of -- especially the magic system and the politics of it all.
Unfortunately, the novel's strengths are overshadowed by its shortcomings. The romance feels off-putting and at this point unnecessary, detracting from the world-building and character development that could have truly elevated the story. I think this would easily become a 5 star read for me if it weren't for the romance aspect.
As a first book in the series, the world-building and characters felt like they lacked depth. I felt like everything was rushed so it was hard to connect with a lot of them. It made the journey and adventure lest impactful.
The series is promising. With better execution, this is going to be a very exceptional read. I look forward to how the author moves forward with the rest of the series.
Here’s my issue with the book 1- How Elline and Chris met. That part was confusing because I really though they were in their last part of high school because who transfers to another school on the last few weeks of the semester during college? 2- Parents. Chris was adopted then the dad became his step dad and then what? that got me really confused!! also, it was really easy for them to give Chris away! it was soooo calm like they were prepared to give him away anytime 3- Elline and Chris love story is 😑. TBH, it was more of raging hormones. I felt the love story more with Alicia and Raham. 😭 4- The book is effin heavy for a paperback! But’s it’s good enough to be used for self defense. It can also be used to train your wrist. 🤣 Overall, I liked DA’s writing style, minus the 3 bullets at the top(bullet 4 is forgivable). The fight scenes were 🤯 All the time I was reading the book, I never felt it was written by a local author. I was even excited when PH was mentioned then I remembered, ay, he’s from Cebu, of course he should know! But woowww!! I loved how the scenes play out in my head easily! I would definitely recommend this to those who would want to start books written by local authors.

I've always said that a great story isn't one that becomes a slave to the expectations of the audience (in this case, the reader), rather, it is simply a story that deserves to be told, and a story that affects those that witness it. This book has honestly accomplished both in my case as I read it. I couldn't help but feel for each character, as much as roll my eyes to every immature decision some of them made. The predicaments of all characters are anything but melodramatic, and it had indeed brought me to a world between worlds. Settings like these--ones that bring our world into one with fantasy and adventure-- really have a way of bringing any reader and creative mind hope of being part of a world other than the one we're used to, and the mundane lives most of us live.
I would say that, without bias, his concepts are among the best I've read thus far, and coupled with the action and adventure he weaves the settings with, I didn't find it hard to race through the pages for thrill, conspiracy, action and dazzling displays that kept my mind alert and my thirst for adventure craving. The characters were just real, and I could never expect who does what next, or what happens to who in the long run. To this day, I am still affected by the predicament of some of his characters.
I am not really that fond of reading books and Harry Potter was the only exception. But The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds seemed to have ignited the excitement and enthusiasm that I once felt in the Harry Potter series.
The first few pages were already filled with action and the constant jump in time made it more exciting. It makes you look forward to the next pages and be surprised with the new revelations.
D.A. Chan created another enchanting world and like the city of Demos Geras, a place rich in history and mystery.
I love how he described the kindredkind together with their unique ways and culture. The book is also not absent with romance and conflicts that arise from it. It surely reflects our realities and makes the story more relatable.
I am looking forward to the next book and unravel the secrets of kindredkind, the fate of the two worlds, and what awaits Chris and Elline. Surely, my mind will be preoccupied with the possible scenarios that await. Demos Geras Des Vinictus!
This is a wonderful book. I had a hard time putting it down and I read it until I could hardly see to read. Well worth reading, the characters are interesting and I definitely am looking forward to the next installments.
The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds, by D.A. Chan, introduces readers to a world where individuals with extraordinary powers, known as kindred, walk among us. Among them is Elline, engaged to the Magister of Demos Geras—a union she isn’t thrilled about. However, this engagement might prove advantageous as a violent war between kindred factions looms. Meanwhile, Chris, deeply in love with Elline, finds himself entwined in a complex web of emotions. Elline caused his death and subsequent return to life, and now, her feelings are beginning to mirror his. Their star-crossed romance is just one facet of a larger conflict; if Chris cannot maintain the fragile peace between humanity and the various kindred families, an unprecedented war will erupt.
The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds is a potent blend of fantasy, teen fiction, and sci-fi. Some readers might draw parallels to the Twilight series, while others may be reminded of the X-Men comics. Chan’s storytelling prowess shines as he deftly weaves multiple plot threads, maintaining a relentless pace that thrusts readers into the heart of the action from the very beginning. The novel is replete with epic battle sequences, behind-the-scenes intrigue, and sneaky-good character development driven primarily by dialogue. Chris and Elline stand out as compelling characters. Their yearning for each other is palpable, yet numerous obstacles stand in the way of their happiness, making their romance captivating and relatable.
One of the most impressive aspects of Chan’s novel is its genuine unpredictability. It is rare to find a story so unafraid to explore unlikely avenues or a writer willing to make significant sacrifices to heighten emotional impact. Without giving away too much, it is safe to say that if you think you know who will emerge unscathed from this conflict, you may be in for a surprise.
The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds is a masterfully crafted novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats, eager to uncover the fate of its richly developed characters and the world they inhabit.
Chan’s world is crazy incredible! I’d love to live in this world as a matter weaver!
I read this because my girlfriend read his other book about vampires (which I’ll have to check out now), and I wasn’t expecting much. The first 1/3 of the book was pretty much your average YA fanfare. But as soon as you get to about maybe 40% of the book, the pace suddenly picks up and you’re in for a treat! The battle sequences are breath-taking, the plot twists are insane, and just when you think you’ve got the plot all figured out, the author either drags you into a totally different direction, or kicks you in the teeth with scenes so heart-breaking that you end up staring at your coffee for a good ten minutes.
At the risk of giving away spoilers, I must say that I didn’t care for the main female character. She’s too emotional and follows her heart to the detriment of the main male character. The main guy is also frustrating. He thinks too highly of the main girl and pretty much idolizes her, which causes him to make really stupid decisions. Now, I get that this is YA, and I’m assuming that the sequels will give them more character development (I hope), but I found myself wishing I was the girl’s friend so I could tell her to pick the other guy!
The spotlight really went to the side characters. The blade dancers and their lore is the stuff of legends. I would love to find out more about them, their fantasy city, and how they hear the wind. Their fighting stances are so clear in my head, and the battle scenes in this book are just so crisp! HD in my mind! One scene though, oh my gosh, one scene really killed me!
Before I end up ranting, let me get back on track. The villain in this story is smart, resourceful, and cunning. The other villains are extremely interesting as well. There are sadists, wild cards, unique monsters, and everything else in between. The magic system is also refreshingly new.
Here’s to hoping for more maturity for the main characters in the sequel, and redemption for my favorite side character! On to the second book!
This series promises to offer a brilliant harmony of reality and fiction. It’s a breathtaking mix of romance, action, and drama. D.A. Chan tries to immerse the minds of readers into another world, while also giving a glimpse of the world we know. “Imagination manipulation” can be the right phrase to describe the influence of this book to the mind of the reader, and it did quite well!
The first chapter confused me a little bit, but having read the succeeding chapters, I already became extremely familiar. The development of characters were really intense and very engaging. There are times that the pacing was very slow, but I think it was alright. The slow pacing was excellently crafted so that scenes in the later chapters will absolutely make sense. The fictional language added a hint of uniqueness to the story.
Cerulean, I think, was the wisest and craftiest villain I have ever read, until the last chapter. He’s extremely manipulative and a natural liar (I can’t wait to read the coming books to confirm this). Ethanos was a very fictional character (calm master cliché) but I like him. He is a key element to the development of Raham’s character in the next books. Chris was extremely annoying. He’s very immature and indifferent. But he is my favorite character; he reminds me of myself.
The action scenes are amazing! There are lots of clichés, but these are the ones that truly made me sit in front of my desk and never stop reading. I have watched several anime and played some video games, so it’s not hard for me to imagine how they actually look like when fighting each other. Including a school near my place to the action scene made it more engaging! The final scenes made me expect the Kinvari to be the most powerful kindredkind in the next books.
Will Chris be able to prevent the upcoming war between two worlds? I can’t wait to find out!
The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds kicks off a thrilling five-book adventure, plunging you into the mysterious realm of the Kindred. You'll dive into their rich history, meet the diverse types of Kindred, discover their way of life, and unravel the complex hierarchy of their society. Plus, get ready to meet Chris, the newest and most enigmatic member of their kind, whose very existence defies explanation👤!
As a fantasy reader, I enjoyed how vivid the action scenes were. You can really tell that the depiction of the storyline was well-thought. D.A. Chan also made an amazing job with his story telling, how he describes the world of the Kindred and relate it to the human world. Yet, as a Gen Z who loves romantasy and any books with hearts & hots combined, the book's romance was pretty decent🫶. The only issue I had with the book was its slight inconsistency of the side character's descriptions as well as I feel like the romance in the first half of the book was kinda rushed 🥺. Things escalated pretty quickly on the romance side but overall it was a great adventure and I get to picture out all the missing puzzles of information right when I was in the middle part of the book🕵🏻.
Overall, the book has its own total package of romance, heroics, and unique power into an epic tapestry that unveils a fascinating world beyond our own🤩. Here, just like in our world, the quest for love, peace, and harmony is as vital as ever. Be enchanted with the realm of Kindred where the struggles and dreams mirror our own👥🪞.
For the most part, I normally find it quite difficult to follow or understand the political structure of a story unless the author finds a way to explain it while not being too forced or by putting a hierarchy chart. For this book however, I see the attempt to describe the world’s politics, races and conflicts. Some of these attempts are strategy meetings, detailing what the other kingdoms are like by having a character relay their experience there or perhaps having someone peep into another character’s memories. The downside for these attempts though is that it came off as a bit of forced info dumps.
Now for the conflict of the characters, most of the came off as a bit childish for their age. I thought they were high schoolers at first and later figured out that they were in their mid 20s. Though it does not play a large role in the story’s plot, this book does have a love triangle between the lead characters and it’s a bit of a mess with some miscommunication to the point that I felt bad for one of the guys in that love triangle.
It is kind of a shame though because the first half of the book was pretty good, but did kinda get confusing near the end.
Though not perfect, it is a decent introduction into the Kindred Chronicle world where you get to meet the main cast of characters, their relationships, inner conflicts and as well as the overall conflict of the plot. All in all, this serves as a prologue to the actual story of the series.
Teen romance, politics, conspiracies, secret superhumans, swords, powers, monsters, and a lot of action. I wasn’t expecting to like this, to be honest, since I assumed it was going to cater to a much younger readership. And I actually thought I was right since the story begins with post-teen romance, but what kept me reading was everything else that was happening. The creatures in this universe fascinated me, which I didn’t expect—so that was a welcome surprise. I also reminded myself that I loved, LOVED, this author’s other book (The Orphan Maker), so I told myself to give this story a chance and kept pushing forward.
What I loved about this story is the tragic plot twists. I now know that this author has a knack for taking his readers one way, and just when we least expect it, he plunges us into beautiful tragedies and unexpectedly magnificent heartaches. He also still has his signature battle scenes in this book. In fact, I think he improved in this area, as this book has so much more. I really do wish I could give this five stars, but I found the main character just a little too resigned to his fate, lacking agency, and the main female lead was a little too immature for my taste. But the rest of the story was a pleasant surprise. I came in unsure, and now I’m actually waiting on two of this author’s series.
Sci fi / fantasy novels can be a hit and miss for me because I get overwhelmed easily with information and terms I can’t even pronounced.
Reading this book, at first, I got a little confused but it did not take long before I finally get into it.
The whole concept of Kindred world is indeed fascinating. Their kind is so unique as their own abilities. And just like us humans, there are always opposing sides — good and evil. There is also the eminent threat of war but unlike our war, theirs is more advanced and imagine if they are just “unnoticeably living” amongst us? If (their) war breaks out, then what will happen to us, humans??Just the thought alone, made me go “whoa!”
Good thing, this is only from DA Chan’s brilliant imagination!😅
I really enjoyed reading this book. The fight scenes ? Wow! I am on the edge of my seat and a few times I have to pause because my heart can’t keep up! A page turner indeed! 👌🏻
I love the ending. It’s not an “annoying cliffhanger” but it made me look forward reading the sequel.💓
My fave “scene” : ☄️ all the fights with blade dancers! Raham and Adamar’s is 👌🏻
I didn’t expect to find my new favorite series but I did! I’ve read all the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson books and I’ve been looking for something similar, and this is it. The magic rules in this story, actually I dont’ know if magic is the right term, is more interesting because there are separate rules for each race. My favorite has to be the heart weavers, especially Alicia. But I can relate with Elline the most. I’m already reading the sequel to this, and I’m really hoping that the author “fixes” an event that happened in this book. Or I’m just heart broken and in denial. The fight scenes of this book are also out of this world, and the way the author writes them really makes them play well in the reader’s mind. The climax was especially exciting! I’m hoping this becomes a movie! But really, if you’re looking for a more mature version of Harry Potter with several plot lines happening with multiple characters at the same time, then I highly recommend this book.
I finished reading The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds last month and I'm honestly blown away. It's a really cool story about a human named Chris who gets caught up in the world of the Kindred, a magical race of beings.
DA Chan does a great job of creating a detailed and exciting world. The action scenes are super thrilling, especially when the blade dancers fight (Oh! I just love them.). I was always on the edge of my seat!
The only thing I didn't like was the romance between Chris and Elline. I didn't really like how their romance was executed and I wished it was more exciting.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy stories with lots of action and a cool world. And although the paper feels premium, I must also say that the book is quite heavy and I wish that it was printed on a different kind of paper since it also made highlighting some parts difficult. Nevertheless, it's totally worth it.

With its seamless blend of action, suspense, and heartfelt moments, this series will keep you eagerly turning the pages, craving more. D.A. Chan has created a captivating world that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment of "The Kindred Chronicles." A must-read for any fantasy lover seeking an unforgettable literary adventure.
David Chan's book, "The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds" is a very good story that mixes fantasy, love, and high epic story telling. It takes readers to a very old city called Demos Geras. The story is about power, friendship, and living forever. The book talks about a man named Chris and a woman named Elline.
Their love story is very touching and intriguing, balance with romance and uncertain twists. Their love and duty make the story very interesting to read.
If you like fantasy and good stories about love and duty, you should read this book. This author and mentor David did a great job writing this story.
This book is an absolutly mesmerizing read. From the first page, I was hooked by the immediate action scenes. The story's blend of sci-fi and fantasy elements created for me such a fun and exciting world. But what I really loved were the characters, especially the thalenars. They don't really enter the story until a bit later, but OMG I think this is the first book that I've read that I think the other side/ supporting characters are more interesting than the main ones. But I'm still willing to give them a chance, especially Empyrean, him I love. This is now a new favorite series for me, and I can't wait for the entire series to come out!
This book wasn’t my usual pick, but after enjoying another book by this author, I decided to give it a chance. No regrets. I'm not usually into action/ adventure, but the action scenes here were fantastic, and the world building was unique. But what really tugged at me heartstrings was the tragic love story. However, I found that the supporting characters were just so compelling and written in such a way that they often overshadowed the main characters and their teen romance, which was a bit of a downside for me.
Despite not really being a typical fan of this genre, this book surprised me in a good way, and I’m actually considering diving into more fantasy novels after this.
TBH, this was not an easy start for me. I wasn’t a fiction reader, and world-building always takes me a while to adjust to. But I was curious so I finally picked it up… and surprisingly, it was fun.
It has its own universe, its own system, its own language. If you’re a fan of LOTR, or if you enjoyed I Am Number Four or Shadow & Bone, you’ll feel that same vibe here. It took time to understand the world, but once it clicked, it was genuinely interesting and immersive.
This is the book to read when it comes to sci-fi and adventure. It is a thrilling experience with interesting characters, powerful dialogue, and a solid story that will leave readers craving for more!
This novel awakens my curiousity as I am introduced little by little to the mysterious kindred world. It triggers my imagination making me wonder what the characters and the creatures in the story would actually look like.
“The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds” by D. A. Chan is an interesting work. It falls solidly into the Epic Fantasy genre and it is a powerfully written debut novel. There are good bones here, echoes of Tolkien and Poul Anderson and even Rowling can be detected. It is obvious that Mr. Chan is very well read and a fan of both ‘manga’ type graphic novels as well as anime inspired saga-fiction. The wedding of these disparate styles is deftly managed, and readers of these types of action-packed epic adventures will be very entertained by this work and by Mr. Chan’s hero, Chris Sayther. Our story opens and we are introduced to Chris as he is attending a funeral. He is present, not as a mourner, but rather as a sort or investigator/reporter. There are dark forces afoot and we get a sense of mystery and occult surrounding this young man. The funeral ends and no sooner has he left the event and is on his way to deliver his report, when he and his mentor are attacked and Chris is made captive! He awakes to find himself imprisoned in a deserted warehouse. As he considers how he might escape he is confronted by Cerulean, a Weaver (one of the many races of Kindred, powerful arcane beings who are only now starting to reveal themselves to human-kind), who has betrayed his people and seeks to get information from Chris to use against his former allies. He subjects Chris to a particularly gruesome form of interrogation and the memories which he forces him to relive become the basis for an extended series of flashbacks which the author uses to build his description of the Kindred world, introduce the main conflict, describe the meeting and subsequent relationship between Chris and Elline, the daughter of the powerful Leader of the House of War Tironius and reveal the strange and unique powers which have been mysteriously granted to Chris, despite his mundane human origin. If all this seems like a lot…it is, and the reader finds himself somewhat lost in the seemingly endless series of recollections/exposition employed by the author to flesh out his fantastical world, introduce the many, many races and creatures that people it and the various arcane cities and ancient houses and battles that make up its history and backstory. Once this forced recollection ends with yet another fantastically described battle/rescue scene where Chris’s powerful Kindred allies free him from Cerulean’s clutches the story really begins to pick up pace. No spoilers, but a full cadre of teen-aged supporting characters is assembled and together with Chris and Elline, they go on to face the challenges of not one but a whole shadowy cohort of treacherous and devious foes. I gave this story a rating of three stars, though it should rate far higher. It was powerfully written and the author has obvious natural talent. The story loses points for the persistent disconnect between the reader and the protagonists, both hero and heroine. The descriptions of battle and the many cities and races of Kindred are well executed, powerful and exciting. In contrast the plot of this story wanders and the characters are somewhat undeveloped and static. The combination builds distance between the reader and the hero/heroine which persists throughout, leaving us unable to feel deeply or care about the fate of the protagonists or even the threat posed by the evil designs of the main antagonist. This story would benefit greatly from a through, professional editing, focusing on story-telling, plot progression and character development. This author has great potential and tremendous talent and with good editorial advice his work will shine! I look forward to reading more works from Mr Chan and I wish him success. Good show!
Between Two Worlds reads like an action-packed anime just waiting to break your heart. Being jaded by much of modern fantasy literature, I thought I knew where this story was going when I first picked it up, but I was wrong.
At first glance it plays pretty close to the expected YA sci-fantasy tropes—ordinary orphan kid accidentally gets powers and becomes a "bridge" between a superior magical race (the kindred) and ho-hum humankind. He also falls in love with a beautiful kindred girl from an elite kindred lineage, and there is the bad-guy side of the kindred that looks down on humankind and plots genocide. But after following the pattern 3/4ths of the way through, BTW takes unexpectedly poignant, beautiful, sobering, heartwrenching turns in the final quarters of some of its plotlines. It was startling to encounter straightforward concepts with these rarer effects; it actually felt like I was reading something caught between two literary worlds.
I don't normally thrill for violence even in literature, but I was riveted by the battle sequences in this book, especially featuring the blade dancers. The world-building and magic systems governing the kindred weavers and their creative "house-style" methods of battle alone are worth more than the price of the book (as a Fullmetal Alchemist fan, I delighted in the weavers' snap-quick transmutations of matter, energy, and emotion).
What's more, underpinning all the physical and political conflict is a deft handling of preexisting emotional conflict, so nothing felt gratuitous or merely for spectacle if you pay attention to what the author is doing. Even your typical love triangle (rectangle?) didn't come across as trite; duty sometimes trumps love in this surprising novel, and you're left on edge wondering where Chan will take things with characters you come to care strongly for.
I will say the nuanced side characters often steal the thunder a bit too easily from main character Chris Sayther, who for much of the book until that final exuberant quarter has a penchant for being a bit of a MacGuffin—a damsel in distress, a bargaining chip, or a sideline participant in epic battles where everyone else is brute magic and bloodthirsty gymnastics. Once you know the main character is technically immortal, the life vs. death struggle of battle that threatens everyone else doesn't apply to him. And once he is resigned to his fate, you're tempted to be resigned too. There's still too much book left to be resigned, but he is.
While the storytelling does occasionally reveal a newish, promising author setting out on his writing journey, the political and interpersonal tensions in Between Two Worlds hits like anything but from an immature writer. Chan doesn't hold back; this book hits hard. It can make you weep. I went in expecting generic, then looked up a week or so later and realized I had become a fan.
First, I would like to introduce the author of the book, because I am very proud of him. He is a fellow Filipino and a Bisaya too, Mr. David Anthony Chan. He is a very approachable and humble person. I even got the copy of the book straight from him! That’s why it had this sweet dedication. You know, it’s a gesture more than enough to feed a bookworms heart!
The Kindred Chronicles: Between Two Worlds is the first installment of the five (5) booked-series. It is an introduction to the life and ways of the kindred people. Where it explains and touch their history, the different kinds of kindred people, the kind of life they are living, the hierarchy of power and even the newest and unexplainable birth of a new kind, which is Chris.
Chris is just a normal human being who happened to be attracted to Elline, one of the kindred people. An event led him to becoming into a charge, with an extreme and out of both worlds kind of power. Which led them, Chris and Elline’s people, into a quest for truth and safety, because where there is good, there is also the bad forces lurking all over.
The story bares a touch and mix of stories of love, heroic deeds, power, and a clear depiction of an existence of another world beyond that of the humankind, where there is also a need for love, peace and harmony.
If I am to put it in my comfort words, it bears the kind of love story we witnessed in Twilight and I Am Number Four and the kind of thrill and suspense that drew us close to Hunger Games and The Maze Runner.
It is clearly a great read! And for that I’m giving it
