Potluck: A Sleepy Haven Mystery opens the door and invites the reader to enter the homes of thirteen women as they discover how the seven deadly sins stealthily make their way into lives that seem so sedate, so normal, so serene. Annie, one of the thirteen, pulls Renee, her niece, away from her big-city life to help her in a race to seek the truth, protect the innocent, and save the church from crumbling.

This novel unwinds a skein of twists, turns, truths, and lies in the course of a colorful and humorous adventure tinged with touches of danger. Author-Catherine Stuart-draws upon her background as a professional counselor to breathe life into her characters as they negotiate their ways around the obstacles upsetting their routines.

Potluck: A Sleepy Haven Mystery depicts thirteen women-pillars of their church-as the seven deadly sins touch their lives and they begin to uncover the truth about which might prove deadliest.

I won this book through Good Reads giveaways. I am happy to review it!

I don't have much time to read these days so I was grateful for a short book. I'm a big fan of mysteries and food so I was looking forward to reading this book. The title reminded me of another series I read so I was concerned that I would see similarities between the two. Although there were a few slight similarities, the differences were enough to keep me interested and not leave me disappointed. The story line moved along well. A little more detail about some of the minor characters (the church ladies) could have been added. However, if the author is planning on a series of books providing more focus on each lady, then I can understand why more details weren't provided. I didn't exactly know who did it until the end but I also wasn't really trying to figure it out, this time, I was just trying to relax and enjoy the book. I would recommend this book!

I will be donating this book to my local library so that others may enjoy this book as much as I did.

At first this book was hard for me to get into. There were too many characters to remember right away. It got easier once I got to know a few of them better. This book talks about the Bible a lot so if that bothers you then you should skip this read. I was able to guess whodunit. It's worth checking out.

I was a little bit skeptical before reading this book with the cover and the length of the book. I've been positively surprised by the plot and the way this book as been written.

It is pretty easy and fast to read and can be enjoyed by many young or older readers.

In what seems to be the most legit and happy church festivities, a drama will occur that will change the little community. Renée, an outsider, will help solve the case of the murder of a young and prodigious man.

This book will probably not be the book of your life, but it will be an enjoyable 200ish pages of reading.

I got to thank Author Solutions for this book I received through Goodreads giveaways.

Books of this genre aren't my usual cup of tea. ( Sorry aunt Annie!) I won through a good reads giveaway and thought I owed it to the author and publisher to at least try it out. I believe Mrs Witt is my spirit animal. I believe that anyone looking for a clean, even with what happens in the book, version of a mystery involving your very common group of "well to do" old church ladies can be satisfied with Potluck. I'm from the south, I know how giving food is what you do in any time of crisis. I'll never view another church potluck, or those little southern Baptist church ladies, even with that soothing southern charm we all love, the same ever again. All sin is created equal.

I had a lot of fun reading this book. The author has created a layered story, one that can be read with ease or in depth. There are parts that made me laugh, parts that evoked my curiosity and others that I deeply related to. This book can be a fun vacation for your mind or you could spend it analyzing the characters and solving the mystery. I did some of both. I would strongly recommend it for either! I hope to see a sequel!
