Name (in native language) : 高屋奈月

Natsuki Takaya (高屋 奈月 Takaya Natsuki, real name Naka Hatake) is the penname of a Japanese manga artist best-known for creating the series Fruits Basket. She was born on July 7, 1973; (Tanabata). Takaya is left-handed and once revealed that she wanted to be a mangaka since first grade, when her sister started drawing.

She was born in Shizuoka, Japan, but was raised in Tokyo, where she made her debut in 1992. She enjoys video games such as the Final Fantasy series or Sakura Wars, or working on her different manga series, such as Fruits Basket, which is the second best-selling shōjo manga ever in Japan, and the top selling shōjo manga in North America. Fruits Basket has also been adapted into a twenty-six-episode anime series.

In 2001, Takaya received a Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo manga for Fruits Basket.

According to Takaya (in a sidebar of a Fruits Basket manga volume), she enjoys drawing girls (girly ones) more than she does boys. Takaya also enjoys electronics and music, but dislikes talking about herself. Also revealed in a sidebar of Fruits Basket, Takaya broke her drawing arm (left) after Fruits Basket volume six was published. She had to go into surgery, and as a result, had put Fruits Basket on a brief hiatus. Takaya made a full recovery, but complains that her handwriting had gotten uglier, due to the surgery. During her hospital stay, she gained an interest in baseball.

Such a cute and classic little gem!

There are so many characters to love in this warm feel good series.

Some of my more notable's: Hatori, Hatsuharu, Momiji, Ayame and HANAJIMA!

Personally though, I'm a Kyo girl myself! Gotta love that kitten and his tortured soul! He's my baby!

AND, it's always helpful to have a leading female that doesn't irk the hell outta me! Tohru is too cute! How about Hana though????!!!!

Plus I'm re watching the older anime as I read through the Manga again in anticipation of the reboot which is coming out sometime in APRIL!!!!!!

If you can't tell, I'M WAY TO HYPED ABOUT THIS :)

Fruits Basket is a shoujo manga which is typically aimed towards young females. It is a mixture of fantasy and romance but also has comedic attributes within. The main female character Tohru Honda is a very sweet and innocent type of character who has a positive outlook on life. However, the annoying thing I found about her type of character is that she is really dense and naive to the point it makes the reader annoyed with her actions and words. Throughout the story, though she becomes more aware and her personality changes through all the hardships she goes through the story. The character development and storyline are very well written and make you go on without wanting to stop. The rest of the cast fits along well perfectly with her as well. The two main male characters: Kyo and Yuki's personalities are the opposite of one another and the tension between the two of them can either be comedic or serious. The supporting cast is fun and also have some sort of character development. Their stories start off as a mystery for each individual but as you continue to read it all pieces together and leaves you satisfied at the ending. It's very cute and leaves you a bittersweet feeling in the end.

I read all the books in this series. But, i didn't waste my time putting all of it in my bookshelf. This is a really good storie line. The characters are so cute. It talks about the 12 zodiac animals including how the cat wasn't included. Some of the characters are possessed by a zodiac spirit. This is like their adventure to stop the curse (if they are hugged by the opposite gender, they turn into their animal. That's why they're really careful and sometimes have to erase peoples' memory if they see the changing).

I haven't actually read all of them, just up to volume 11. They're good, though.
