Worth

Yeah, so this one did NOT work for me. For a few reasons, but the biggest being Michael.
He was such an asshole and he treated Worth terribly. Now, Michael knows exactly what Worth has been through, going through something similar himself. Yet he has no empathy for Worth, and gets MAD when Worth doesn't automatically trust him implicitly. Why the hell should he, after such a short amount of time and years of abuse behind him? He also gets one of his friends to help hold Worth down during a doctors exam, even though he knows he's scared enough to try and escape. Absolutely appalling behavior. The worst part about this is that the author obviously thinks Michael is a good dom. It's stated as much in the book. Um, no, he's not a good dom. He's terrible.
Example: Worth is worried about something Michael might do to him. Michael, instead of sitting Worth down and explaining things to him again and making him feel comfortable and whatever else a good dom may do, tells Worth that he's sooo disappointed in Worth for not just trusting him/ever thinking he could ever do something like that. Then gets mad/fed up with Worth and huffs off. What the fuck?? I know it's probably frustrating to be caring for a sub that doesn't trust you, but you can't take it out on him like that. You were the one who decided to take on the responsibility of caring for him, you can deal with it like an adult. Michael makes everything about himself, not about Worth.
Also, Worth's name. A bit on the nose for me.
Finally, the ending was rushed and a bit ridiculous. After the whole book of Worth calling Michael Master and believing the guy owns him, all of a sudden starts calling him by his name, they profess their love for each other and ride off into the sunset.
Ugh.

May 3, 2019Update: I'm 25% done with Worth: Novella length. Dreadfully poor writing with no depth or emotion. The author cannot make up her mind whether Worth is a boy or a man which gives this a very unpleasant and creepy feel. Clunky sentence structure and a total lack of any character development.
eg:
The man stared at him for a few seconds and then followed him out of the shower, stepping into the towel. Michael watched him dry off and then threw the towel down, handing Worth a clean robe. Once the boy was bundled up, he dried himself, stepped over the pile of linens and hair on the floor, and walked out into the bedroom.
and this: (which is supposed to be in Michael's pov)
Worth looked at Carlos who smiled at him. "Hello," he shyly replied.
"Hello, Worth," Carlos said. His accent was very heavy and he seemed to be very nice to Michael.
Nope. I was hoping for something deep and full of emotion, something dark and angsty. Instead I got head lice and a man who seems to have a predilection for boys.

Great story!
A perfect ending to an amazing series. Worth and Michael, both having to overcome terrible abuse, physical, mental and emotional. Michael saves Worth from the man who was torturing him and through time, helped Worth heal from all his wounds, inside and out. In this, both men realize they love each other and have found a family with Phoenix and Wade and all the men of Invitation Only. Brilliant series, I will miss all the boys whom I have come to love!

OMG so loved this book. Had been waiting for Worth's book since the last installment of the series.
I really enjoyed the emotion of this book. I wish it could have been longer it seemed to go so quick. I was invested in this before it had even downloaded onto my kindle.
Loved Michael and Worth. Their connection seemed so real and their relationships with the other Doms and Subs.
I can't wait for the books these gents appear in next.

This is more of a novella than a book. It is a story of healing for both of the main characters. The prologue pulled me into the story quickly and I thought it could be 3.5+ stars. Then towards the middle to end, it floundered. For me it's 2.5 stars but rounded down because I thought the epilogue was weak.

Patricia Logan è una delle mie autrici preferite, ho aspettato con ansia che questo libro venisse pubblicato in italiano. Appena è diventato disponibile su Amazon non sono riuscita a resistere e, pur avendo un fantastiliardo di cose da fare, l’ho acquistato immediatamente e l’ho divorato nel giro di un paio d’ore.
Finalmente è arrivato il momento di leggere il libro completamente dedicato a Michael, che mi aveva intrigato fin dalla sua prima apparizione nella serie “Master’s boys”, dove viene dipinto come un sadico senza scrupoli, ma in fondo sapevo che non era proprio tutto come sembrava.
Worth compare per la prima volta in “Dallas” quinto libro della serie “Invitation only”, viene portato al club dal suo padrone che non è altro che una bestia senza scrupoli. L’uomo vuole che “Coso”, come lui lo chiama, venga punito duramente, ma Michael sconvolto dalle pessime condizioni in cui si trova il ragazzo e dal modo in cui viene trattato, lo compra dal pazzo che lo ha costretto a quella vita e lo fa diventare il suo sub.
Già dal prologo possiamo capire che andare avanti nella lettura non sarà facile e che questo sarà tutto meno che un libro leggero. Ci vengono immediatamente descritte situazioni difficili da digerire: il modo terribile in cui Michael è stato abusato, sia fisicamente che psicologicamente, fin da quando era solo un ragazzino, è sconvolgente.
Michael rivede in Worth il ragazzo solo, distrutto e spaventato che era lui quando finalmente la sua prigionia era terminata e per questo non resiste alla tentazione di aiutarlo e tenerlo al sicuro.
Worth all’inizio si aspetta di essere trattato da Michael allo stesso modo in cui veniva trattato dal precedente padrone, ma Michael riesce pian piano a conquistare la sua fiducia, prendendosi cura di lui.
Lo aiuta a rimettersi in sesto, lo fa visitare e curare da un medico e lo fa parlare con uno psicologo. Gli è accanto in ogni momento del suo recupero psico-fisico. Il loro rapporto si evolve lentamente e pian piano vediamo crescere la fiducia di Worth nei confronti di Michael che cerca pazientemente di aiutarlo a superare le sue paure. Altrettanto lentamente vediamo crescere il loro amore che, com’ è giusto che sia, non arriva all’improvviso, ma ci mette molto tempo a nascere, crescere e consolidarsi.
Vi ho detto fin troppo della trama, quindi non vi racconterò altro, ma posso dirvi che sia la storia di Worth che quella di Michael mi hanno straziato e che lo svilupparsi del loro rapporto mi ha tenuta incollata al reader dalla prima all’ultima pagina.
Purtroppo, come tutti gli altri della serie “Invitation only”, anche questo libro ha un difetto, è decisamente troppo corto. Ci sarebbe stato ancora tanto da dire sui due protagonisti e sul loro amore appena nato, ma la Logan non la pensava allo stesso modo e ci dobbiamo accontentare.
“Worth” mi è piaciuto molto, ma ne consiglio la lettura solo a chi non si sconvolge facilmente, visto che vengono raccontate due storie di abusi e ci sono brani non particolarmente facili da digerire. Oltre alle parti relative agli abusi, ci sono un paio di scene BDSM duro, in cui però si dovrebbe andare oltre le apparenze e capire quanto Michael in realtà sia attento nei confronti dei sub con cui gioca all’interno del club.
Anche questa volta, come in tutti i libri della Logan che ho letto, ritroviamo i vecchi personaggi a cui ci siamo affezionati nel corso di queste due serie e che ci fa sempre piacere incontrare nuovamente.
Non c’è neanche bisogno di dire che il libro è scritto benissimo e che lo stile è impeccabile, quando si parla della Logan questa è una certezza. La traduzione è ottima, fluida e lineare, quindi complimenti anche alla traduttrice.

This is the last in the Invitation Only series and it's by far the hardest one to read.....Worth we met in Dallas and boy has he been through a tough time.....Michael the sadist dom takes him in and makes him his own in his own special way......Worth finds it hard to trust his Dom and damn Michael really is not the hard Dom we thought he was.......There is a very hot scene in this (albeit small) with Michael and his brother Gabriel that will have you running for a cold shower......Michael truly deserves Worth and Worth truly deserves Michael....A perfect end to the series x

I loved this book, as I do all of Patricia's books. But this one was pretty special, seeing it was the end of a great series. And, reading the last of Wesley Milam's poems, it brought tears to my eyes, it was a perfect beginning to a very good book. Thank you Patricia, for writing all of these books, but this one especially.
