But as I’m drawn into Dru’s world, things get crazy! First, a chimera shows up in the woods. Seriously … a CHIMERA, like from Greek mythology. Then Dru uses superpowers to save my butt. He is apparently some kind of super-alien! That part doesn’t bother me exactly. What does have my stomach in knots is that I’ve been claimed! Whatever that means.
Now, I’ve started manifesting superpowers of my own! I’m questioning my understanding of reality, not to mention sanity, but it’s too late to turn back now. Dru and I must evade the evil aliens called Drakkon and discover the truth about our connection. But the Drakkon kidnap Dru and force him to help with their evil plans. I’m not sure how strong I am, but I must stop the Drakkon at all costs--even if it means getting myself killed. Will I be able to save Dru? Or will he be lost forever to the clutches of the Drakkon?

5 Drulayna stars!! I absolutely loved this book. YA sci-fi and a bit badass this was a fantastic read. Highly recommend to teens and adults alike!

To be clear, this is not Twilight fan-fic, and it's not a Twilight rip off. However, I do think Twilight fans looking for something NEW and DIFFERENT to read would enjoy this for the genre points it does just as well. A man with secrets. A man with magical abilities. A girl with powers of her own. Two STRONG characters with chemistry that SPARKS on the pages! The best part of this story for me was the sci-fi twist! But...I don't want to post any spoilers. Just to say, this is the book you've been looking for.

I enjoyed this sci-fi book! The author did a good job weaving the characters together and unraveling the plot with perfection. Her characters were unique and well developed. There were plenty of great twists as well. Five glittery stars!

March 20, 2016I ended up abandoning this one at 50% complete. The premise of Aliens protecting Earth caught my attention, but there was too much romance and not enough action and adventure for me. If you don't mind teenagers kissing all the time and stating over and over how much they are attracted to each other you might enjoy this one.

But the story doesn't go on a smooth pace of two people meeting and falling head over heels..it takes a faster pace and an unpredictable turn only to add to your expectations.

Awakened by C. J. Anderson takes you into a mystical world of Dru And Alayna,two characters blessed with their own level of superpowers.
Powers that can consume them if not taken proper command. While dealing with their own fair share,they felt a connection being ignited amongst these two.

The different qualities they harbour makes the story more real.

The story is about superpowers, aliens and massive fights. The plot seems to be the usual one until it is not. There are relatable factors like human emotions, love, feelings and many more which makes the story more lively.
The protagonists are very well crafted. They are daring yet thoughtful. Their actions are meaningful and has an impact further on the story.
I liked the staging of the sequence and the writing style. It made me want more and more from the plot. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. Totally recommended.

I love to read fantasy fiction novels. I love it specially when it is laced with action, thrill and suspense. C. J. Anderson's book 'Awakened' is a power packed book. It has such a hooking plot. The storyline is absolutely great along with differeny elements put together.
The prtagonist of this novel is worth reading about. There is so much of character developmenent here. The iconic elements of aliens, mythology is a great topics here.
Apart from that, the writing style is amazing. The readers will actually feel like reading the book and will want to read more and more. Definitely recommending it!

I won this book in a giveaway. The cover is beautiful, along with the special bookmarks i got.
I always start whit the BAD stuff....
So, we have a world where "aliens" exist (not really addressed like the classic aliens but another races with superpowers) and teenagers. That was the worst for me. They are all hysteric and in constante heat saying things like "Oh, my god he's so damn hot" all the time, and they use their own creepy language:
"Oh.My.God, J. You have no frakking idea how much I am shipping you two right now!
Yeah, we are the ULTIMATE 'ship baby cakes. "
So I have to admit that it annoyed the shit out of me until half the book, along with other things. That half was all about that. Boy see girls. Girl meets boy. They have an unexpected attraction since the first eye contact. They date. They can't keep their hand of each other (and in an too much hot way since she was a virgin, that was just not normal... girl have some control over yourself). She learns about hers and his power. "I'm an alien!"
It look all to forced for me, both the developing of the relationships and the way they traded the information about her new world. Just didn't felt right and with some inconsistencies. That was like playing the game Destiny : I could tell you everything but I wont because you have to eat more cookies, and than I give a reward of another little piece information, and than you are tired somehow of having a conversation of 10 minutes (Like anyone could say "Too much information at once". If I was in her place i couldn't do anything without knowing at the hell was going on. ) And there's the time she says "Real, live Drakkon. I've read about and seen drawings of them on Zaneopedia, but I had no idea how..." but than she didn't. She never read about them, since the only time she got a look at "zaneopedia" she look at the Claimed section. And than she was too busy being mad and being away from it.
What kept me reading was my trace of reading until the end... either I like it or not I just have to know how it goes. And than, thats when it gets better. Since all the information was dispatched at full speed, things started to move. The universe of Awakened is really good, it so much potential. Secrets started to reveal and enemies started to show (we get some action). Dru is actually adorable, and at some point i felt really sorry for him. The characters have unique personality's.
It's not bad, just not that into my taste. I like another kind of young adult fantasy /sci-fi. But, I think it can improve a lot.
Fans of Twilight may be the best public for this book.

Awakened was a fun book to read! I enjoyed the shifting perspectives of the two main characters (Dru and Alayna). The history of the characters and their relationships to one another was clearly developed. The fantasy science was fun and provided enough fictional detail blended with real science that it was easy to buy into the explanations--that's a key component of a well-written fantasy novel:) I really appreciated the strong female character (Alayna) and the even balance between her and Dru. It was refreshing to read a novel where teenage girls want to stay in control of their lives and not be swept off their feet. The cliffhanger is killing me though--can't wait for the next book in the series!
