The Broken Coda Rukia Kuchiki, the ex-Soul Reaper responsible for Ichigo's transformation, is on the lam. Her brethren at the Soul Society are quite displeased with the fact that she transferred the powers of a Soul Reaper to a human and have dispatched two of their strongest agents to neutralize the situation. Their mission is twofold: to return Rukia to the Soul Society so that she may pay for her crime and to deal with Ichigo - permanently. But an unlikely third party is standing in their way: Uryū Ishida, the Quincy!
Noriaki Kubo, known professionally as Tite Kubo ( 久保帯人), is a Japanese manga artist and character designer. His manga series Bleach (2001–2016) had over 130 million copies in circulation as of 2022.
"Wait, Rukia! Quit joking around! Look at me! Hey..." "Be still! Move one inch from there... Try coming after me... and I will never forgive you!"
I did not cry this time, but I was very close to tears. It was hard to see Ichigo's face being full of confusion and fear after the beat up that Renji served him. And then what Byakuya had done... It was also hard to see Rukia trying so hard to protect Ichigo that she was willing to go to Soul Society while knowing that she might die there. Their last look, the devastation and pure sadness on their faces, before all the Shinigami left, killed me in the anime and killed me in the manga, too. I love their friendship so much.
Renji was ruthless, but Byakuya was totally cold and merciless. It happened in the anime, so I thought that I was ready, but it seems like his ice queen behavior will never not have any impact on me. Ichigo had absolutely no chance against them at that time. Even if he knew it, I'm sure that he would still try to fight, because this is who he is. He's giving all to protect people he cares for. He would die for Rukia (and, to be honest, he nearly did).
"You're weak. For you to venture into enemy territory now would be suicide. You want to save miss Kuchiki? Don't make me laugh. Don't use her as an excuse to kill yourself."
While having one of the greatest minds in the Bleach universe, Urahara is behaving like a dumbass most of the time. But he can be serious, sometimes. And while watching the anime I never felt intimidated by him, it's totally different when it comes to him in the manga. This man can look scary when he wants to, damn. I'm grateful to him for saving Ichigo's life and I know that his training needed to happen for Ichigo to gain strength needed to put a fight in the Soul Society to save Rukia, but was these kind of methods really necessary? I felt truly torn between the need to laugh and being horrified (both felt accurate tho). I mean:
Urahara: "If your spirit energy increased, you would evade the subsequent punches and live happily ever after." Ichigo: "What if it didn't increase?" Urahara: "Then you'd be dead."
And this:
Ichigo: "Are you serious?! I'll become w Hollow if this disappears?!" Urahara: "Oh. You didn't know? How awkward."
But I have to say that Ichigo fighting (or, trying to) Ururu was totally comical, I love it in the anime and I love it in the manga!
"He's your older brother. He won't stand by and let you be killed." "You're right. He'll kill me himself."
WHAT A WILD THING TO SAY, JESUS.
Other things I need to mention:
~ Ururu's strength is incredibly impressive! ~ the erased existence of Rukia from Ichigo's world made me sad :( ~ the fact that Orihime wasn't bothered at all by the talking cat while everyone else (including Ishida) freaked out is funny every single time ~ the little Kon scene that wasn't in the anime, but exists in the manga made me tear up :(
Ichigo and Kon’s interactions are the best comedic relief!! Volume 7 starts with a bang, continuing from Ichigo’s fight against Renji and Byakuya—two powerful Soul Reapers hoping to transfer Ichigo’s powers back to Rukia. I’m interested to see how Ichigo plans to free her from her potential execution with Urahara’s guidance.
I was less interested by the second half of this volume, since is marks the beginning of the typical shonen training arc, though I’m eager to see where Orihime and Chad’s journey goes in terms of honing their new powers with the help of Mr. Yoruichi the cat.
Ichigo runs into mysterious and powerful individuals from the Soul Society who seek to bring back Rukia so she could receive her punishment for her capital crime.
This turned out to be an excellent volume setting up a change of scenery and an exciting training session. I love the artwork as well and the goosebumps that you get from Ichigo's cranked up self.
It is time for the proper round of training to commence, which will prepare Ichigo and friends to save . The whole scene between her and Ichigo, right before she's escorted away, never fails in hitting me in the feels.
Story Line: 5 stars out of 5. Kon tells Ichigo that Rukia is in trouble. He is not able to turn into a soul reaper without her. Kisuke Urahara arrives and helps him with that. Ichigo makes his way to where Rukia, Uryu, Renji, and Byakuya are. Uryu was defeated by Renji.
Ichigo now arrives. He takes on Renji. Renji is one of the strongest opponents that Ichigo has to face thus far. Renji is surprised that Ichigo doesn't know that zanpakuto actually have a name. He shouts out his zanpakuto's name. He is stronger than before. Ichigo is having a hard time.
Renji eventually realizes that Ichigo's spiritual pressure is rising. He doesn't understand why Ichigo is getting stronger. Byakuya does even cut Ichigo down. He cuts his soul chain taking away all of his powers. Ichigo tries to stop Rukia, Byakuya, and Renji from leaving by grabbing Byakuya's foot. Rukia kicks his hand off and leaves with her brother. She tells Ichigo, she won't forgive him if he tries to follow her. Ichigo almost dies. Urahara saves him.
Urahara then starts to train Ichigo to get his soul reaper powers back. His methods are a little crazy. That's when the volume starts getting funny too.
Characters- 5 stars out of 5. Ichigo- I love you, sweetie pie! I'm sad you almost die in this volume! Can't have that! Rukia- Eh...I think this volume just makes me hate her more. Drawing/Art Style: 5 stars out of 5.

So the end of the last volume had Rukia stopped by her older brother and a red headed warrior with a sword. They plan to take her back to soul society but not if Ichigo can help it. The start of this is great with fast paced battles, brutal loses, and good amount of emotion. The 2nd half is the typical shonen training to get stronger. It's cool and all to see the ways they do it but it's not very interesting in the end. Just because we've seen it done in a million mangas. If going to do it, do something unique people.
I’m actually enjoying this manga. Well a lot of things are happening in this volume. Rukia is going back to the soul society. Ichigo and his other friends is now training to be stronger to rescue Rukia. I HOPE SHE IS STILL SURVIVED BY being in the souls society and take a big punishment. Read bleach is good ( ◠‿◠ )
This volume picks up directly where we left on volume 6.
Rukia ends up in prison at the Soul Society waiting for her execution for ~reasons~ and so Ichigo decides to undergo some intense training to rescue her. Unbeknownst to him, Orihime and Chad also decide to do some training, under the tutelage of a mysterious black cat.
I found this volume to be pretty fast paced and I'm excited to possibly get a look into what the ACTUAL Soul Society might look like in the next volume.
I also need to know what was in the mystery box Ishida opened at the end and why his training has to be so secretive??
I really like where this story is going overall so far and I am so happy that I have a ton more volumes to read!
We should not shed tears. That is a surrender of the body to the heart. It is only proof That we are beings that do not know What to do with our hearts
My god, this volume might’ve been my favorite out of all the ones I’ve read. You can truly feel the story “starting” and the characters are amazing.
I seem to recall Tite Kubo wished to delay Soul Society and build up Ichigo's home town and friends a while longer first, but his editors were pushing for the Soul Reaper stuff. In retrospect I agree with him. The Soul Society is exciting, but it also gets going with all of the heavy plot stuff and maybe it did come a bit early.
I was surprised how much foreshadowing I missed in these volumes. Renji talks about Zanpakuto names, Byakuya makes a vague reference to Shiba. Stuff that I wasn't thinking about when they were eventually revealed. It's neat how far out the manga sets up as early as it does.
This volume started off with quite the thrill as the stoic Byakuya and hot headed Renji come and take Rukia away for execution. I thought that this was a good way to set up the next conflict while also introducing more soul society aspects. The rest of the volume focuses on Ichigo, Chad, Orihime, and Uryu getting ready for their infiltration of the Soul Society. The emotional core of this is how they feel about the loss of Rukia. I think they could of spent more time discussing it but since this is a shonen they jumped right into the training to keeo the reader interested.
Are we onto the official big, first arc now? So maybe this time Bleach will stay good for a while instead of oscillating between meh and bad and pretty good? Here's hoping.
Everyone is gearing up to rescue Rukia. We get breadcrumbs about Rukia's relationship with her adoptive brother. All in all, a pretty good volume.
Bleach, Vol. 7 continues where the previous tankobon left off and contains the next nine chapters (53–61) of the on-going manga series.
Ichigo Kurosaki discovers that Rukia Kuchiki left, and looks for her with Kisuke Urahara's help only to find Uryu Ishida defeated by Renji Abarai. When Ichigo attempts to fight Renji, he learns that each zanpakuto sword has a unique form that can be accessed only when the Soul Reaper discovers its name.
Renji uses his transformed zanpakuto Zabimaru to overwhelm Ichigo. However, Ichigo makes a comeback against Renji, overwhelming him and almost defeating him. This is when Byakuya Kuchiki steps in and defeats Ichigo at an overwhelming pace. Rukia returns to the Soul Society to await execution for her action so that the now powerless Ichigo can be spared.
Urahara heals Ichigo's wounds at his shop, and begins training him so he will recover his spirit energy and possibly survive against the Soul Reapers within the Soul Society.
This tankobon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It seems that the next arc of the series would happen in Soul Society – the place where the Soul Reapers dwell. Rukia Kuchiki is arrested for giving her powers to human and the punishment is death. The evolution of the zanpakuto, the main weapon of Soul Reapers, is an intriguing idea for additional powers for the Soul Reapers.
All in all, Bleach, Vol. 7 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.
One of the best so far. Seeing ichigoat get humbled so badly was hard but equally awesome as now we are seeing him learn under the tutelage of Urahara. Honestly I forgot how much I hated renji when he first appeared, bros just embarassed my goat and done it while laughing at him. I have no doubt once the soul society arc begins and he takes revenge on Renji and Byakuya that ill give my first 5 for the series so far.
I always think that I think Bleach is lame because it doesn’t have the heart of something like Naruto or One Piece and that it’s all just surface level flash but it’s like, this is shonen manga, sometimes all you need is cool lanky dudes swinging around their swords with cool powers.
My man Renji 😤 and the asswipe Byakyua 😶 have made their appearances and ugh I love them, ahhh we’re almost to the part when we sneak into the Soul Society I’m so excited
