A Contemporary Erotic Romance with a shape shifting Alpha Male trained as a Navy SEAL and the short curvaceous artist who drives him crazy.

Book 1 of the Keeping Her series
Keeping Her
Demon and Clytie Jones

At 28, Clytie Persephone Jones has reinvented herself into exactly what she wants to be. She changed her name, put herself through school, and is taking chances on a risky art career. She’s not looking for marriage; she doesn’t need anyone to run her life for her. What she yearns for is passion. She wants to burn under a man’s touch. A lukewarm simmer won’t cut it. She’s holding out for the real thing.

Demon is a Wolf Shifter. A seven-foot tall x-Navy SEAL, with no name but his call sign. Banding together with other outcast shifters and rogues for safety and the first real brotherhood he has known, he asks for nothing in life but the protection and solvency of his self-made “pack.”

Neither of them expects the connection that flares so fast between them. Clytie wants time to get to know him. Demon figures he’ll just bring her right home into his bed and keep her there.

Can she deal with both the reality of an Alpha shape-shifter and the danger presented by Demons past?

Clytie and Demon meet at a bar when she's out on a blind date with another man and Demon is pretty much hooked right off the bat. She's funny, quirky, sweet and only has eyes for him. It's a little OTT but fun nonetheless especially when a certain big dude goes caveman on his Baby. I get that the story isn't very long and that therefore it has to be quicker to develop but I felt that it rushed through the relationship growth too readily. Their chemistry in bed was outstanding and Clytie was so frigging cute that I really wanted to see them grow together a little more naturally. My eyes glazed over a little on the action in the end, which was unusual for me. All in all though this is definitely on track with what I wanted so a big thank you to Barbara, Tonya, and CC for the rec. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing despite the h being on a failing blind date when they first meet. No condoms. h was a V. There is abuse and the threat of rape. No pushing away in a traditional sense.

I liked the friend characters more than the heroes...

Ah, I really needed a short shifter book. Yup, that's my go-to genre when I'm in a strange mood and I don't know what to read..

Anyway, the story was pretty nice, the writing was decent (a few grammar mistakes but ah well) and the characters weren't too bad. I loved the friend-characters though, they were great! Funny and smart and they made me curious about the next book.

All in all, it was typical for a book like this. It wasn't bad but it wasn't a work of art either, but that's exactly what I'm looking for in books like this: a fast read, a decent story and, if I'm lucky, they will make me curious about more books.

Re-Read 2/27/17

I've read this book too many times to count. It is absolutely my favorite ever mate book. It's one of the few books that I love the hero and the heroine equally.

Re-read 2/26/16

I have read this several times and it's still a 5 star book for me every single time. Demon is one of my all time favorite heroes. I can't get enough of him (or Clytie).

This was pretty silly but I really enjoyed it. Demon is an extremely possessive wolf shifter who claims a human Clytie without telling her. The way she played off his caveman tactics was humorous. It’s a pretty short book and it does get a bit graphic in violence towards the end but it’s mostly a funny novella. I’m curious if the rest of the series is just as good.

Contains Spoilers! !

Oh I loved this! Sure it wasn't the best written and had some editing issues but that didn't bother me! I seriously have a girl crush on Clytie:D!She was awesome! I loved how she stands her ground with Demon! She had me laughing. Demon oh that OTT Alpha man! Love him and his possessiveness! I love them togther ! I actually liked Ben and Mac too:)

Safety: Heroine was a virgin. Hero wasn't. It was said once or twice he liked it hard and fast (I didn't like hearing that)and frequently! That was something I didn't need to know. But because Clytie was special and he never took anyone home and only had ONS I got past that comment. Thats it about his past. No other women drama! Oh and he always used condoms before h:) There is one attempted rape scene. Bad guy rips her dress as starts to yank it off but she hits him and stabs him. he doesn't get far. He did pull his cock out of his pants and she feels him against her stomach. Demon gets there in time but not before he throws her against the wall and she blacks out. That's it. I would safe pretty safe read if you can handle what I mentioned.

I love it when I find a new series that has quirky heroines with some growly alphas and I think I may have just stumbled upon one. There were definitely some laugh out loud moments. There were a few times I caught myself rolling my eyes, but I had so much fun I ignored that.
“Now remember Demon, repeat the mantra, ‘I am dangerous, I am tough. I have a scary tattoo on my neck.’ In no time at all, everyone will believe it.”

Clytie was off the wall fun. Her first meeting with Demon and how she handled his expectations on how she would react to his overly tall, scarred and scary appearance had me in stitches. How she dealt with all the zaniness and surprises she was in for when she hooked up with Demon and his friends kept me guessing what she would say next and laughing whenever she opened her mouth. Clytie’s family history was another thing altogether, both heart breaking and anger inducing. Her family was a nasty and judgemental group that she was on the outs with for very good reason.
“All right.” He froze. “What?” “All right.” “All right, what?” “All right. I’ll move in with you.” “All right, you’ll move in with me and call me master?” She snorted out a laugh. “Nice try.”

Demon was gruff, mean, growly, alpha protective, and hilarious all rolled up into a seven foot tall, scarred, hot package. My favorite kind of H. Yes, there was definitely way too much insta-love going on and the fast pace of the move in was absolutely ridiculous, but it’s a shifter book so I can give some grace on that. Demon had his own family issues that required a bit more action than an attitude adjustment. Thank goodness our seven foot alpha monster can dish out some serious, but sometimes gruesome, whoop-ass.

Not only did I really enjoy Clytie and Demon, but I loved the Lionsgate pack as a whole. Ben and Mac who share a compound with Demon, were especially endearing and I can’t wait to read their story. I have high hopes for this series and can’t wait to dive into the next one.

4.5 stars. What?! Ok I know it is not the best book ever written or edited. But I LOVED it. I laughed out loud a lot. I was in a book slump and this was exactly what I needed. A hero I love, a great heroine and good secondary characters.

Demon's inner monologue was hilarious. He had the least smooth moves of anyone, ever! Clytie (these names are terrible) was sweet and funny and pretty damn understanding. Of course, he was never the relationship type (hotel hook ups) and she was a virgin. But he is crazed for her immediately. And she him. Somehow it is cute and hot.

This is a typical wolf shifter finds mate book. But Demon was funny and charming in his way. He is a beast of a man. 7 feet tall with a big scar on his face. There is danger and Clytie finds herself at the mercy of a sociopath. But not to worry....Demon will save the day.

I have no interest in the rest of this series. But I hear there is a winter wedding book coming for Demon and Clytie this November. I will definitely pick that up!

Wow, what a hot insta-lust story! H was over the top alpha-male. The way H met h was hilarious.

I'd like to know the story of his parents and step-father. Too bad this book didn't elaborate that.

I tried, honestly, I tried to read this but it was so riddled with typos, as if no one even took a look at it to edit it. I tried to ignore but the missing commas and the constant typos just about drove me insane that I finally stopped after reading a couple chapters. To be honest, it was that and how TSTL the heroine was within those first two chapters that made me stop reading it. She was absolutely silly/dumb and I didn't care for her at all.

Thank God, I borrowed this as a Prime member for free and didn't actually spend my $$ on it. Would have been more pissed if I had. RETURN!

I really enjoyed this book! I liked Demon and Clytie and thought they were sweet together. I loved that Clytie stood her ground with Demon even though he was 7 feet of solid muscle. I appreciated that even though we knew Demon has been with plenty of women we weren't given any details! The suspense/drama portion was well done. I also really liked his friends Mac, Ben, and the rest. Safety gang safe

4.5-5 stars

This was a great story. I really loved Clytie and Demon...they made a surprisingly good pair. This is the first story I've read by this author and I was very pleased with it. I will be trying out more of her work.

Clytie is a pretty cool character. She's seen a lot of bad in her life and even her family hasn't always been there for her. She is an artist but her family isn't very supportive. She also has bad luck in her love life which ends her up in a bar waiting for a blind date. Her date ends up being a looser but she meets Demon in the bar and things starts to look up.

Demon is a wolf shifter. He used to be a Navy SEAL and now does security systems and such. He has a pack made up of other shifters (of any variety) that banded together with him. He's never had a real relationship but when he meets Clytie, he has an instinctual need for her and proceeds to claim her. I really liked Demon. He's possessive and totally alpha but he is so sweet to Clytie and I just loved him! I think I've found a new book-boyfriend. :D

Things go pretty quickly and Clytie and Demon end up in a very hot "first date" that lasts in to the next day. Clytie's a bit freaked so she gets some time alone to work on her art but can't stop thinking about Demon. He can't stay away from her (although he does give her a few days..mostly) and once he gets back in to her life he strives to stay there. It doesn't take too much though because Clytie realizes he's something special and is willing to give it a go. It is a bit of an insta-love thing but IMO it worked with the story. Of course, when things between them are good something has to go wrong. Demon gets called away and Clytie ends up in danger and goes through some trauma. Demon rescues her and things work out well. I loved the ending of the book...overall it left me feeling happy and satisfied.

This was a great book. I loved Demon...so badass, hot and sweet all at once. Clytie is sweet and yet spunky and the perfect counter to Demon's badassedness. Very enjoyable and engaging story. I'd recommend it. Thumb up! :D

1/16/16 -This is a reread before reading Marrying Her. I still love Clytie and Demon and enjoyed their story very much. :)

Well, this little book turned out to be quite the suprise read for me.Loved it.
Clytie,an artist and Demon,ex SEAL and wolf shifter meet in a bar one night and hook up instantly. The sparks fly quickly and on the blink of an eye, they wind up in bed together with some scorching sex happening.Within the week, Demon convinces her to move in with him because he wants forever with her...sigh......
Loved this couple together,Clytie has sass and spunk .Demon, loved him,was so alpha and possessive, love that in my book heros. He has the " mine" down pat towards his ladylove.
A great read and will def look forward to reading more in this series and author.
The next story is a menage featuring Cassandra,Cytie's cousin, and Demon's two housemates,Mac and Ben.There is an exerpt on the author's website.

This short read was a really nice surprise.

Nice and steamy with some humor thrown in. A few minor editing errors, but nothing to distract from the story.

Hope it's the start of a series about this pack of outcasts.

This book was soooo good!!! Great H and h. That doesn't happen very often. Usually I like one or the other much more. Not here. Clytie is a sassy h that gives as good as she gets. And Demon, oh Demon. I just loved how he never wanted to part from her from the first time they were together. I love Mac and Ben too and the other secondary characters. Well except Sarah. I wanted to bitch slap her. And of course the bad dudes. This will definitely be on my reread list. Think I will dive into the next although I've heard it's not as good. It would be tough to top Clytie and Demon anyways.

I liked this shifter story. I haven't read a lot shifter stories so I don't have much to compare it to. It was a safe read with a great alpha make and wonderful h. Clytie was great! I also loved Ben and Mac. I would have liked more but I see there is several installments in the series so I hope to read more about these characters.

This was...... not very good. I went in excited because lately there haven't been any good paranormal, particularly shifter, books for me to read (I read a lot so I go through them fast). When I saw this I got excited and immediately began reading it. My hopes crashed around 23%. I'll get the petty complaint out of the way first: WHY ARE UNNECESSARY LETTERS CAPITALIZED??? Why is ass capitalized? Or anal? Birthday? Tricky damn cat? Stop it! Get a beta! If you have one get three! Grammar and punctuation were so distracting! There were so many commas missing it was actually hard to make out some sentences. Onto the more pressing issue: things happen too fast and with no explanation. This book needs some serious world building; I know it's short but authors have pulled it off before so I know it can be done. Explain something about the way packs work. Why the hell did Clancy attack the limo when Demon was still at the town? The conflict did not make sense at all. Nor did the fight with Clytie's sister. The author is bad at creating conflict for the characters to deal with and overcome. The characters are funny, but they blend into the background often times. And there was no explanation as to who some of the other characters were. They just show up out of nowhere. I wouldn't recommend this to any paranormal readers out there; there are much better things to read.

Clytie Jones is following her dreams and making it on her own as an artist. She wasn't planning on falling in love, especially for a dangerously sexy shifter named Demon. After he grabs her and kisses her one night they are both surprised at the sparks that fly between them. But is Clytie ready for the danger and high stake risks that come from loving a shifter?

Holy crap this book was amazing! I loved how Demon and Clytie met and the way the attraction was hot and instantaneous, like lightning during a summer storm. Demon was a very alluring character, I loved his dominant nature and the way he completely fell head over heels for Clytie. It was sexy, but also very adorable at the same time. And Clytie was a very relatable character, I was rooting for her the whole time!

I would highly recommend this if you are a fan of paranormal romance!

This is one of the best shapeshifter romance books i've read this year. I loved this book from beginning to end but I wish it was longer. Clytie had a blind date but met Demon and they hit it off instantly, Clytie was like no other woman Demon has ever met and his wolf wants her just as bad as he does. she was attracted to Demon right away so when he kissed her the deal was sealed.

One night isn't enough for Demon and he knows that Clytie is the woman for him and he doesn't intend to ever give her up but he will have to find a way to tell her that he's a werewolf and his friends are shifters as well. As Clytie and Demon spend more time together they grow more in love, the death of Demons mom sends him back to a past he thought he left behind for good, and people in his past want revenge and they will get it any way possible.

This was a great shifter romance with one of the best hero's i've read about in a while. Demon had a one track mind once he met Clytie and he would do anything to have and keep her. He was possessive, demanding, controlling, and an all around hot guy. The addition of his friends made for some great story lines and funny moments. This was an all around excellent book. My only comment was that it was hard at time to easily distinguish when the POV changed, but other wise I loved this book.

Okay this read was just what I needed apparently. Its a short read but packed with a lot of story. Still, you'll be so enthralled with it, you will hate when it ends. Which is all too soon.

I may be a little biased with this one. The hero, Demon in a lot of ways reminded me of my husband. So I loved him straight out the gate. He could do no wrong. Clytie was definitely the perfect yin to Demon's yang. Loved watching these two get to know one another. They had great chemistry. The secondary characters ranging from Demon's posse, to Clytie's family to the villains were all fleshed out well. They kept the story/ drama, & suspense moving at a steady pace. The reveals were a little scary but quite entertaining.

This one had some LOL moments & sweet endearing ones as well.

And let me just say the sex scenes in this one were plentiful, amazingly white hot, and had me running like a faucet. Wow.

So if you're looking for a paranormal read that is hot, short, sweet & packed with plenty of story, I would highly recommend that you look here.

Demon is a non nonsense wolf shifter who has no plans hitching himself to any woman. Then Clytie Jones approaches him at the bar he hangs out at, she is not afraid of him or his scar. She offers some humor to his day but when her blind date turns out badly, Demon decides to step in.

Clytie knows she is not a worldly woman, in fact she is a 28 year old virgin. However, she decides to give in to one night with Demon thinking he is the perfect man to sleep with. Demon though decides that Clytie is his mate and she is not going anywhere. A man who is used to being by himself now has to quickly learn how to charm his mate who has a mind of her own.

Sweet story. I liked that Clytie and Demon were polar opposites. Demon struggles a bit with trying to communicate withhis mate, which is quite entertaining. Great read, looking forward to more in this series.

Fairly well done. It could have been longer to develop the story. I thought the heroine's reaction to the werewolves was reasonably thought out. The relationship with the two roommates of the hero was nice. There were quite a few characters especially at the end that muddied things up quite a bit. They were sequel bait that could have been pared down. Still it was an enjoyable read.

Not a good start to a series, horrible world and character building. I only finished it, because I read all the other books in the series.

Some absolute no-no’s: virgin heroine at almost 30. unprotected sex, a few hours after they first meet. Consent isn‘t always clear (but it was nowhere near as rapey as the novella 2.5). Motherfucking stupid heroine. And so on.

A cute and silky romance with a wolf shifter OTT possessive H and the human woman he can't get enough of.
It's a relatively short read and not much works building or back story for the shifters tbh, for eg the h is human....can she be turned? Idk
Multiple povs from the H/h and their friends who get their own book next
Some violence in the end
It was crazy, silly and fun

4.5 stars. What a fucking gem this turned out to be. Humor, hot sex, believable insta-love, great characters and an Alpha Male hell bent on keeping his woman. I completely believed the connection between the H and h. I believed that he knew that she was his from the start, so I understood his aggressive and determined stance that she accept him and the love and commitment that he was offering to her. And, yep, I believed that the h completely caved over such an aggressive male that so clearly adored her and was devoted to her care and well being.

I thought the relationship between the H and h was great. I loved that even though she was overwhelmed that she still was strong, fearless, and determined that she would not be trampled into oblivion by her possessive male. The times when she gave into him didn't come across as weakness because it was clear that she understood that she was a priority for him and that his remorse was present when called for.

I also loved the H's team/pack. Their camaraderie and their skill sets and their willingness to be their for one another. They were awesome and I want more more more more.

I thought i had this review all figured out. BTW this was around page thirty. So it was gonna go like this,

"So yeah basically I found the book pure fluff. Good fluff. But fluff none the less. Personally i like my books with more substance. But I can't blame anyone for this because i started this book knowing that it'll probably be 95% fluff."

So imagine my surprise when i found the book had actual substance. I mean for a 91 page book, the substance/fluff ratio was just right. I had a blast reading this, it was super funny. I loved how Clytie was fearless in the face of this seven-foot monster. personally i like my guys in the range of 6'2 to 6'5. So Demon was huuuugee!!! xD

I absolutely adore the Ben-Mac duo and how they knew just when Clytie and Demon were gonna disappear and need alone time and therefore which plans were to be cancelled. :P

The only thing i can say is that, id really like to know how the hell do you pronounce "Clytie" :/

This is why i can't have nice things.

We have a 28 year old who is still a virgin for no rational reason but decides to have sex with the first guys she sees. She goes home with Demon who shares a villa with two friends. From the description they looked like some scary guys. But still she goes! and with a guy named Demon! How ridiculous is that. If that's not enough reason to run for the hills then i don't know what is.

Does she remember condoms?! NO. She was so "mindless with pleasure" she never considered telling him to wear one. Hello, stupid. I have seen smarter 14 year old. He breaks into her house but she doesn't freak out like a normal person would.

I just can't. This heroine is TSTL.
