View the culture of childhood through a whole new lens. Identify age-based bias and expand your outlook on and understanding of early childhood as a culture. Examine various elements of childhood language, belief economics, arts, and social structure to understand children's dispositions of questioning, engagement, and cooperation. read a couple chapters of this book for a class in the spring, and i liked it so much that i finished it even after the semester was over. it truly challenged my views on early childhood and how educators and adults view children’s behavior. highly recommend for those who work with children or have some of their own.
Although there was a lot references to family child care , which I did for many years. This book will stay with me and change the way I see my students. To always remember it's not what is in the future but to enjoy the moment. I recommend it to anyone interested in early childhood education.
A fabulous reference for getting inside a culture that you may have forgotten as an adult. Children have their own culture, and do not view the world the way adults see it. Very helpful reminder for anyone educating and/or parenting a young child.
