The Weaver clan was growing. Not only was Arlan, Ma Weaver’s oldest son and his wife about to have a baby, but Benjamin, one of her identical twins, was about to get his very own mail-order bride! Ma Weaver couldn’t be happier! Sure, Benjamin and his brothers had been sheltered in the small valley where they lived most of their lives, and maybe they didn’t live as fancy as some folks. But they still lived well, and Ma Weaver was determined her sons would marry well too.
Charity Cross discovers just that when she becomes Benjamin’s mail-order bride and is introduced to the Weaver farm. But what the Weavers don’t know is that Charity has a secret, something with the power to tear them apart if she isn’t careful. The problem is, she has no idea how or what “careful” looks like. Not after what she’s been through …
Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
Well honestly, I'm a little disappointed with the lack of Columbus Day festivities. Where was the parade? The costumes and music? *sigh*
My book club and I all picked a random "Holiday Mail Order Bride" book as a light and silly way to wind down the year. I don't think I've ever read an historical romance before. Actually, I know I haven't. I don't see this becoming a regular rotation in my reading shelves, but it was a fun, quick read. The dialect as written is laugh out loud funny and the dialogue content is hilarious as well. The story has very little depth, but I don't think that's why people read romances.
Not bad for what it sets out to be. Though, I'm still disappointed at the lack of holiday tie in. Couldn't I have at least gotten a description of one patriotic dance?
Having made my way through each of the audible stories of the Holiday Mail Order Brides, this one was the most serious and emotional and really touched my heart. If you have followed this series you know who the Weavers are, with wonderful Ma Weaver and her four boys. The dreaded twins in earlier stories, always up to mischief, and the other two Daniel and Arlan. Now it is Benjamin's turn, one of the twins, to have his own mail order bride. This is the best of families, hard working, living off the land and supporting each other through thick and thin. Charity Cross has a terrible secret. Ben is enthralled by her and they marry immediately. But what is to come is a lesson in the strength to get through anything as Ben and Charity try to make their way with their new marriage. Kit Morgan has written such a moving story, especially listening to in in audible with the amazing narration of Michael Rahhal as always. It truly pulled in all my emotions and left me anxious to see what would happen in the next story. Do not miss this book or any in this series. They have brought hours or entertainment and joy to my life.
Charity is the mail-order bride for Benjamin Weaver. Yes, that Benjamin Weaver. We have met him, his ma, and his siblings in previous books. The Weavers are close knit, but an unruly bunch. They live about 10 hours outside of town. Charity has a very serious secret. She doesn’t tell Benjamin before the wedding. Will Benjamin be able to get past it or will this break them apart. One last book in the series. I will buy Kit Morgan other series. This series has made me cry, made me laugh, and made me roll my eyes.
This was my favorite book of the series. Just because it's the crazy Weavers doesn't mean it can't get serious. Ma is a very wise woman, and she can tell when something is troubling her family members. You have to talk it out and listen and keep your heart open. At first it didn't seem like Benjamin and Charity suited at all, but it turns out, he was exactly what she needed. And so was this family that was so different than her own. I was surprised at how tender Benjamin was with Charity. Nothing like a wife to make you settle down!
This book was one of my favorites in the series. I thought the women were awful gutsy when they just added the eggs to the frying without even checking them. The family was gone for a few days and when they returned they gathered all the eggs from those last few days and just assumed that every egg was good. I was impressed; not one bad egg!
This was my second time reading this in about 2 years. I've taken to rereading Kit Morgan's books because they are clean books. Besides, I love reading about the Weavers, Nowhere, Clear Creek, Cutters creek and Creede, Colorado even if it's a repeat. Never gets old! Enjoy..a very good book!
The secret that was hinted at throughout the book kept you wanting and guessing what it could be. I was shocked when it was finally revealed. I love the Weaver’s and the love and dedication to one another. The ending was great but still left things not completely finished. I’m hoping it will be revealed in the last book of this series.
This book is about Charity and her husband Benjamin Weaver. It's compelling to see how women were treated in the 1800's especially if they were taken advantage of by a man.
From not being welcomed by her family to be welcomed by his family. A very good read about Benjamin Weaver and his mail order bride Charity. Charity has a secret she must tell. A secret that could destroy her total being and her new found family.
Another sweet romance with another Weaver brother. Sweet story and I really liked it. I just got a bit tired of the constant inner struggle of Charity.
I fell in love with Benjamin. When I first met the Weavers I thought he was an obnoxious punk but in this book he gets married and becomes such a kind husband. I love their rule of three with regards to a marriage partner: 1. You have to like them. 2. You have to love them. 3. You have to be in love with them.
Kit Morgan is an amazing writer that has brought us into her heart and her book family with her Holiday Mail Order Bride series! We all fell in love with the Weaver's with Arlan and Samijo's story the Springtime Mail Order Bride and now we're back at the farm again and this time its Benjamin and Charity's turn! Can Benjamin show Charity the love, faith, honor that he and his whole family has.....and will she learn to trust him and open her heart?
When we first met the Weavers we were told they were unruly loud men. In Arlan's book we see the twins as still a bit immature and the pranks confirmed it. Reading about Benjamin was a wonderful experience where we get to see him become a man every woman wants to have by their side. Unfortunately Benjamin and Charity face a huge problem in their relationship, but seeing Benjamin react to said problem and the way he handles himself was excellent.
I always enjoy reading a Kit Morgan story. She links her characters throughout the series and also with her Prairie Grooms and Prairie Brides books. When you read them all you feel like you are just learning more about one big family. There are also connections to Kirsten Osbourne's books. These are light, fast reads that bring a smile to your face.
This review is for the rest of the series. I just don't have time to do individual reviews. So if you are looking for a good, clean, enjoyable romance give this series a shot. The stories are heartwarming and fun to read. I was able to get through them pretty fast and they were all enjoyable. I would definitely love to read more.
Kit Morgan has brought another Weaver book into the spot light and delighted her fans again. I love those Weavers! Her Holiday books bring a smile and a chuckle no matter which one I read. Great job!
I love this author! I have enjoyed every book of this family. Its been a treat on being able to spy in on how marriages came together and families that made the new territories! I love these stories
I came across this series on Amazon one night at work and it introduced me to the whole genre of mail order bride/western historical romance that I did not know existed before. From that time on I've never read a book by Kit Morgan that I haven't enjoyed.
Another great book in this series about Benjamin and his mail order bride. She has a past that seems to send their relationship on a tail spin. Well worth reading!
