Bottoms up! If a college freshman can't get laid in sun-drenched Miami, he's doing something wrong. Frankie Perez is determined to help his roommate get some man action in any way possible. When Frankie's arsenal of dating apps, fashion advice, and playing-hard-to-get lessons doesn't work, he realizes Jeremy needs remedial help. Except tutoring Jeremy in the art of sex gets steamier than Frankie expected-and it scares the hell out of him. Jeremy's not sure why he's wasting his time hooking up when he's only got eyes for the slinky, sexy roommate he comes home to at night. But the hotter their chemistry simmers, the quicker Frankie dances away. In near desperation, Frankie suggests the two of them team up to find a third to top them both, forgetting that two bottoms aren't immune from lusting after each other. In a world where every man is an option, choosing one to love can be the sexiest risk of all. Warning: Contains questionable morals, copious immature hijinks, an X-rated photo shoot, and disastrous threesomes. Sex toys were misused (but not harmed) in the making of this book.

While not a bad book, I was a little disappointed because I usually like Daisy Harris.

First of all, all people who like their couples to remain strictly monogamous, STAY AWAY! These guys get it on with lots of other people other than each other. I knew about that from the description and was cool with it, so I was mentally prepared.

Frankie and Jeremy were an odd couple for me. I didn't buy their HEA with their constant need to bring others into their relationship (no, the whole "both bottoms" thing didn't magically resolve). I can see why two guys who don't like to bottom would have trouble (some people just don't enjoy the feeling), but I didn't really get how neither or these guys was willing to bang the other. I think you can certainly prefer one over the other, but refusing to top EVER in a committed relationship just seems odd to me.

In addition, these guys were just too young and too immature for me to believe that they will stay together. Mostly, I felt like these two were a couple of convenience and a mismatch with personalities, so I wasn't really digging their dynamics.

I also didn't like Jeremy as a character. I found him to be judgy and irritating, especially with his attitude towards "sluts" in the beginning of the story, and his weird crush on his TA, who he didn't really know at all. I didn't even like his Cinderella-style transformation. I just felt "meh" towards him in general. Frankie was better, though his fear of commitment thing was odd considering how fast he fell for Jeremy.

Though I found this book to be an easy, light read, and to be hot in parts, I can't say that it creeped up beyond just okay for me.

Oh boy! I thought for sure after reading the blurb that I was going to like this book a lot! After reading the first few chapters, I was confident I might even get to love this! But you know what, it all went to shit in the last third of this book. So I have a few major issues with this to put it mildly.

Frankie and Jeremy are both 19 year old, they're roommates, and they're as different as can be, except for one thing: they're both bottoms. Jeremy is a shy, easy to influence kind of guy, who KNOWS he's a bottom even though he's 100% virgin. Yep, you got that right, he's never topped, never received a blowjob, never even touched another dick except his own, until Frankie. So how can Jeremy know he's a bottom you ask? Well I asked myself the exact same question and was not able to come up with a reasonable explanation; however, Jeremy explains it for us dummies out there: he can't imagine taking charge, so therefore he MUST be a bottom. Plus, he loves ass play.

You know it, I was 100% sure once he got to dip his pecker into Frankie's asshole, his toppy attitude and take charge instinct were going to come out to play. I was sure he was going to turn into a sex beast, complete with filthy, dirty talk, and pound Frankie's ass into the mattress. Except that's not what happened.

Frankie's a slut who's deathly scared of relationships, but showing Jeremy the ropes around how to find a hook-up can't hurt him, right? Well...maybe. Frankie teaches Jeremy about the wonders of Grindr and online hook-ups, and that was my favorite part of this book. Really, I snorted with laughter at some of Jeremy's encounters; granted, the pimple-picking-and-eating dude was gross as hell, but the clown with the terrifying boner had me rolling. Cuz it was weird and hilarious, and I could totally see it happening to some poor unlucky bloke.

And even though Frankie started getting on my nerves, I was still pretty sure that after the failed attempt to bring a third person (Frankie's BFF) into the bedroom to deflower poor Jeremy, things were going to change and somehow they would find the solution to this whole topping/bottoming thing. BUT THEY DIDN'T!!!

You know, bottom line is this: Their happily ever after is not one I believe in, for several reasons:

1. They are both 19 years old, and usually it takes a lot of effort to sell a HEA when the MCs are two immature teenagers. In this case, they didn't even know how to compromise in order to make each other happy. There's no way I can see those two together even two years from now, since none is willing to top the other so they can get what they need.

2. I'm a greedy bitch who needs her characters to be 100% dedicated to each other; but most of all, they need to be 100% exclusive. The fact that Jeremy and Frankie need to constantly bring other people to their bedroom in order for them to get fucked is not something I can accept. That's a big NO NO for me, No Way No How! Besides, what's so horrible about your dick going into someone's ass? I mean, yeah, I don't have a dick, but hey, if they stroke it while masturbating, why can't they use it to pleasure the person they love? I don't get it. I'm fairly certain Jeremy and/or Frankie don't have spikes in their anus, so whatever.

3. They're both immature, selfish, idiotic boys, who have no idea how to work to keep each other happy. Blah!

I'm done with this book, I'm frustrated and disappointed! This is not what I expected, and it certainly wasn't a pleasant surprise.

“You can’t expect a relationship to work out with only two people. Sometimes you need to bring in outside help.”
That little gem of advice comes so late in the game but it is so appropriate for this book. It’s also in a conversation between Frankie and his Mami and it has absolutely nothing to do with Frankie and Jeremy’s relationship even though it has everything to do with their relationship.
Freshmen Jeremey and Frankie are enjoying college life at Miami Central University. They are roommates, close friends and complete opposites in every way you could possibly imagine. Frankie is outgoing, living life to the fullest, clubbing, and enjoying men when ever he wants. Jeremy was raised in a completely different environment and some of those ideas have followed him to Miami. He’s so much of a virgin that he has no clue how to even talk to a man he is attracted to much less come on to one seductively. Frankie sees the struggles that his friend has so he decides to do what any good friend would do. Frankie becomes Jeremy’s tutoring wingman.
Of course it not as simple as Frankie believed it would be. Things get complicated quickly especially when feelings get involved. Things would be easier if one or both of them were a little more versatile, but with two bottoms in one bed they soon decide they need a top to enjoy their offered Twofer.
I was nervous going into this Daisy Harris book. I’d read a review that left me feeling like Frankie and Jeremy were not in love and I wouldn’t get my needed happily ever after. Rest assured Daisy works her magic and makes sure these two sweet young men get a happily ever after that works for them. They work so hard at making their problems work that they end up having a lot of really fun sex, their way. I’d also love to know how the opposite worked out for Matt and Bruce. I can imagine that would be just as interesting of a read.

Thank you to SAMHAIN PUBLISHING and Netgalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that Twofer is a book that really took me by surprise. Even once I started, I thought it was going to be this fun, carefree read that kept a smile on my face the entire way through. And to a certain extent, it was. But there was also a seriousness to it as Jeremy and Frankie worked out the kinks (do you see what I did there?) in their relationship. Frankie was the highlight of this book for me. He was so energetic and lighthearted, but when it came to Jeremy, he was a dedicated wingman. Jeremy was a small town boy who showed up at college with a suitcase full of naïveté. For him, sex and love went hand in hand. He was quick to fall in what he thought was love, but it wasn’t until he crossed the line with Frankie that he really felt those stirrings.

Frankie’s on a quest to help Jeremy overcome his inability to flirt and make conversation, and more importantly, to lose his virginity. I will say my only issue with this book was that almost everyone Jeremy attempted to connect with or have sex with (aside from Jeremy) was borderline crazy. It would have been nice to see Jeremy meet someone ‘normal’ on the Grindr app he was using, and maybe see an inner struggle instead of being practically run off because someone was so out there. That doesn’t mean the scenes weren’t entertaining, but a stronger push-pull inside of Jeremy could have really enhanced the overall story. But surprisingly enough, the push-pull we saw was from Frankie. Sex was always casual for him, and knowing his roommates affliction for falling quickly, he really struggled with where to go. He was afraid his history would hinder him from being able to have a relationship, and he made many attempts to distance himself from Jeremy. When it came to relationships. Frankie was an innocent as Jeremy was about sex. But in the end, Frankie just couldn’t fight fate. But things were even harder than Frankie thought, because he and Jeremy are both bottoms, and there was no way they could be happy together. But they found it impossible to give each other up, and another pursuit followed – find a way to make it work.

This book was an excellent example of how things aren’t perfect, and even the way things were resolved weren’t perfect. But to have each other, Jeremy and Frankie were willing to settle for less than perfect. It was an excellent representation of how things can work out in real life with work and compromise. If you’re looking for a fast paced, fun filled ride, Twofer fits the bill!

This is a book that is going to get mixed reviews, I think, because it is a non-traditional M/M romance.

Jeremy and Frankie are college freshmen and roommates at Miami Central. They are both gay, and Jeremy is out on campus, but I don't think he's out to his family. Frankie is out and proud, happy to hook up with anyone--except Jeremy. They are friends, and he feels bad knowing that his awkward, geeky engineering roomie is a hapless virgin, but he doesn't want to get into a relationship. His first BF was a jerk, and he is done--DONE!!-- with boyfriends. And, Frankie knows that Jeremy is the keeping type. It's true; Jeremy wants a boyfriend, and he wants to start his sex life with a partner who will be considerate and compassionate. Problem is, Jeremy's really drawn to Frankie.

Frankie tries to take the middle road of "sex guide" getting Jeremy a make over of sorts, and playing wingman on his escapades. With mixed results. The two-timing TA? Bust. The Grindr hook-ups? Fleeing (quite literally) for his life. Frankie does take a bit of pity on his newly-sexy friend. He works out a bit of experience with him, just so Jeremy can be prepared (yeah right! Super altruistic of you Frankie...) for his meet-ups.

Thing is, Jeremy's pretty sure he's a bottom--even without ever having had penetrative sex. Frankie KNOWS his preference, and he's unwilling to even try topping Jeremy. Instead, he tries to find a top to satisfy them both, this way he can guide Jeremy's partner into treating him good. Hence the book's name: "Twofer." So, yeah, while Jeremy and Frankie are really falling for each other they also recognize a bit issue in their relationship: neither of them can truly satisfy the other sexually. (Jeremy does try topping, and it's a disappointment.) They enlist a few tops, and nothing really goes well. They strategize. They invest in toys. Things get better, but it's not quite the end they seek. And an answer appears that they can't deny--which is where I think a lot of readers will get frustrated.

See, romance readers are often married to the HEA, and this is generally acceptable for an exclusive couple. Or, maybe, and exclusive triad. Jeremy and Frankie don't fit that mold, but they figure out what works for them. They seem happy at the end, and I can accept that. I think the idea of finding one's true love in college, is unrealistic, but that's okay. Within the setting of the book, they only commit to each other for their time. There are no wedding rings--which is excellent, on account of the guys being barely 20 y/o. I liked how they support each other, and comfort each other and how they make a great pair. Do I think they are going to be together for ever? Unlikely. But, I'm satisfied with their story to this point. I felt convinced of their commitment to each other as a couple, even if they were not exclusive. As a romantic, I am sure I would have liked it more if I felt these guys were a perfect fit sexually--and then I set my rose-colored glasses aside and recognize the futility of championing the love of a couple of college kids. Even if they were a great sexual match, college is a weird time, and lots of people aren't looking for a forever match, there.

I think, if you like interesting couple dynamics, sexy menage action, and two likable guys who aren't exactly perfect, you'll probably enjoy Twofer. It's got a lot of heat, and some terrific humor. The hi jinks are funny, the awkwardness is real and, sadly, hysterical. Jeremy's a sweet soul, and his patient love melts poor Frankie's jaded heart.

My Review:
This book was so sweet. There's just something about two guys that are so completely clueless...and we're not JUST talking about sex here.

No, Jeremy is definitely clueless when it comes to sex. He's been very sheltered. But Frankie is just as clueless when it comes to relationships. As a result, this book is an exploration and education for both of them as they are learning to find their way this first year that they are at college. As roommates, they first become friends and that slowly develops into more as Frankie decides to take on Jeremy's sexual education before he gets really hurt.

But the real issue is as they become more involved emotionally with one another and even begin to fool around, they are both bottoms. How in the world will they make that work?

Seriously, this book was so sweet just because the guys flounder so much. But at the heart, they never want to hurt one another. They truly care for each other. For Frankie, that terrifies him. He's never had a relationship last more than a couple of weeks. If they step up their friendship, in his mind that's just a guarantee that he'll lose his friend. Not an acceptable outcome. Then there's Jeremy who wants to lose his virginity, but isn't so sure about one-night hook-ups. He just doesn't have enough experience to realize when a guy is only interested in that, not a relationship. So Frankie takes him under his wing.

I completely and totally fell in love with these guys and could so empathize with their struggles. The most heartwarming scene in the book though was between Frankie and the priest...who would have thought it? But I laughed all the way through that scene.

The book is just good and sweet. There's a very low level of angst although the conflict between the two is very real. I like how they worked it all out and though I normally wouldn't think that...their situation worked for me. I loved how the guys were able to separate the sexual act from their emotional bond...and honestly, that felt very real to me. Guys look at all that differently and I thought the author did an amazing job explaining it all and making it completely work. (I loved Matt and his fiance.)

3 Hot yet frustrated stars

Genre: MM erotica | College |

Twofer is going to be a difficult novella to review. Sweet. Humorous. Fluffy. Lusty. Innocent yet jaded. Not realistic. Did I read it like it was crack? Sure did. Did I want to smack Frankie & Jeremy upside the head? Every freaking scene, I did. Was the book hot? Flaming hot. 80% lusty antics and 20% storyline. But the 20% storyline didn't make a lick of sense.

Twofer was entirely irresponsible, illogical, flighty, just like two 19 year old guys, I guess. This made for a frustrating read, and not in a good way.

Frankie was a fully-fleshed out character with a diverse family, a job, school troubles dealing with math, and a rich need for religion. A flirt, loving the freedom of no commitment hookups, but he slowly falls in love with his roommate. Frankie was all-around a great, flawed character that readers could either identify with or understand.

Jeremy is a bit one-dimensional. All the reader gets to know is he's socially awkward and a virgin who has never touched another person. Ever. But somehow he just knows he's a bottom. But there is no true emotional depth. Jeremy doesn't show the love, lust, and pain like Frankie was written.

Bottom line: the guys don't think they can make a go of it because they are both bottoms, so they ignore their feeling for each other while on a quest to get Jeremy laid by a top, leading to it being a twofer. Obviously someone was bound to get hurt. This bothered me as their emotions took a backseat to their need to get off(constantly), when they had no issue getting off with each other. The times they hooked up with others was awkward at best, and the scenes where they were together alone shined.

Recommended: If you're into a sex-fest of illogical proportions, this novella is for you. If you find awkward and uncomfortable hookups amusing or hot, give this a read. But if you're a reader who wants the narrators to show some growth, find a compromise, or are totally against an HEA that doesn't involve monogamy (or at least a compromise with someone other than a random hookup), then this book is not for you.

This the thirteenth book I’ve read by this author. I just loved her Men of Holsum College series and her Ivory Tower series as well. Both of those series also featured college guys who are figuring things out for themselves and making their way in the world, so I thought I would enjoy this one too.
This story, however, was a bit different than those other. Frankie and Jeremy are about a different as two people can be – background, personality, you name it. The one thing it seems they do have in common is that they are both bottoms. Jeremy however, is a pretty sheltered guy and has zero experience with any guys. Frankie is VERY out and has a very active sex life, but he’s not into relationships at all. He does feel bad that Jeremy seems to not be any closer to finding a boyfriend, so he decides to help.
This is a case of the road to hell being paved with good intentions. The advice that Frankie gives Jeremy and his “help” seems to cause even more problems than Jeremy has to start with. Things get a little steamy and then a lot awkward between them thanks to Frankie’s ill-advised “help.” Frankie also becomes aware that maybe he’s not that interested in finding somebody else for Jeremy.
There are a few things in this books that some people won’t like – including additional partners for Frankie and Jeremy that they sometimes like to include. For those who want only the primary couple in their books and no extracurricular playmates, then this book is not for you. Personally, I had no issue with the way they conducted themselves because there was total honesty and agreement in their pursuit of fulfillment in their relationship. I also thought that part of the story was handled well.
The only niggling issue that I had with the story was the Jeremy character. I felt like we didn’t get to know him as well as Frankie and I would have liked to have seen more of his story. With Frankie we get his family and his jobs and his social life and with Jeremy we pretty much get school and his time with Frankie and his attempts to find a toppy boyfriend.
Overall, while not the strongest work from this author, still an enjoyable read, particularly for the adorable Frankie.

Definitely one of my favorites this year :)

Frankie and Jeremy had been roommates for a semester before they get closer. I'm a sucker for slow-burn and was very satisfied with those boys! They become better friends once Frankie decides he has to take matters in his own hand and help Jeremy figure out what he wants when it comes to sex and boys in general.

When Jeremy is invited to a party and tells Frankie he really doesn't want to go, Frankie knows this could be his chance to finally set his roommate up with his TA crush, but things don't work out as planned.

One failed attempt after the other of bringing Jeremy closer to losing his virginity, Frankie and Jeremy slowly grow closer and soon can't keep their hands from one another. Along the way Frankie discovers that he cares about Jeremy more than he feels comfortable with, and Jeremy starts realizing that Frankie isn't really as unsuited as it first seemed. Eventually they both want more. More than they thought they could give each other to be truly happy. But, I think, where love is there is a way *wink*

It’s a very sexy, lighthearted and very enjoyable read, with some funny bits, a touch of drama, and a bunch of really great intimate scenes. I loved that there was some toy play! :)

Hella sexy!

I found Jeremy's cluelessness and naivety endearing and don't think it has anything to do with his age. Their romance wasn't rushed at all, and I really appreciated that.

How much I like the characters determines how much I truly enjoy their story, and truth be told, I adored Frankie and Jeremy a lot; the boys are super lovable and they had great chemistry.

Yep, definitely one of my favorites this year.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

I have to admit that I liked the idea of the story, more than the age of the participants - and possibly that was part of the reason this was both enjoyable, but sometimes cringeworthy too. We are all a little bit crazy and naive at that age, and certainly Jeremy portrays all those failings and more!

It is funny in places, and sweet too - I just couldn't see it going anywhere, which I guess is how it should be at that age - but I was hoping for more. The cliches were used well, and I was grateful that Frankie was a good guy, as their story could have been very different without his street smarts. All in all, this was an interesting mix of klutzy and cute!

This is an easy to read, angsty story of two college freshmen sorting out their roommate status, their bottoming status, and their romantic status.

Frankie talks a lot about not looking too desperate, or keen, and he doesn't want Jeremy to view him like that. Frankie thinks he wants free and easy; casual and uncaring; lots and superficial, but clearly this is not the case.

Jeremy, earnest and trusting; keen and caring; hoping to turn Frankie from roommate to significant other, also needs to learn some things.

I really enjoyed their journey. There is humour and hotness, and hope and eventual happiness. I liked that boys who were getting hurt along the way (Stephan) gave Frankie what for. Frankie's family are awesome, and the sex shop jaunts are fun.

Not a long read, but a fun one. Copy provided by Netgalley. Published on the 22nd of December.

I find this one really sweet yet annoying at times. I loved how they are very much connected with their friendship and are very agreeable esp. when it comes to their sexual adventures.

There was so much about this book to love - it had so many of my favorite cliches (friends to lovers, innocent guy and experienced lover, the list goes on). And because it had so much of what I like I was honestly prepared to be disappointed. But...I wasn't! The book was funny, the characters honest and real. I completely felt Frankie's worries about how he was viewed. I sympathized with Jeremy as he tried to discover who he was. And cheered as they discovered that they could be themselves with each other. The secondary characters were fun too - loved Frankie's sister Coco, Matt and Bruce were so hot, Stephan and Austin good friends to the main characters. In other words it's another Daisy Harris home run!

The review is so long over due. For that I apologize. I forgot I had this on my kindle to review then I was in the mood for Daisy Harris and lo and behold I found this story to read.

This time it's a story about roommates Frankie and Jeremy. Frankie tries to help his shy roommate hook-up and find a partner. Jeremy isn't sure why Frankie wants to do this. Jeremy doesn't want to hook up, he's content crushing on his roommate.

It was sweet, while Frankie was trying to help Jeremy he realized he had underlying feelings for Jeremy and while he's trying to get him to hookup with others he starts to realize he wants more and doesn't want to share Jeremy.

It was sweet and sexy yet also very predictable. I filled my Daisy Harris craving so that was a win win, but the story didn't blow me over.

When it comes to m/m romances I'm drawn to reads that manage to blend steamy encounters with sweet and tender moments. While this latest offering from Ms. Harris gives me just that, it also goes in an unconventional route that might not appeal to every reader but kept me fully immersed every step of the way even as I was questioning the meaning of this couple's HEA.

Jeremy is a sweet, young innocent from the Midwest who's come to college to finally experience life. Jeremy's known he was gay for a long time but wasn't able to embrace the lifestyle before now. His awkwardness though leaves him bumbling in a minefield of funny but painful dates. With his roommate Frankie playing tutor to him Jeremy soon morphs from awkward and naive to sweet and subtly sensual much to the chagrin of Frankie. While Frankie though sees sex as a passing entertainment, Jeremy sees it as part of a serious relationship which puts them at odds early on as their growing feelings become more confusing. The more time they engage in practicing and having fun has Jeremy finally realizing who he wants if he can just convince Frankie that sex and love do go together. Jeremy's an endearing character you can't help wanting to protect as his notion of romance and sex is adorable in his sincerity. I wish too that he wasn't so easily led astray as I really worried for him with some of his dates and at times I felt that he went along with things just to make others happy. With Frankie by his side though he had the support of someone who truly cared about him which gave him the strength to fully accept his sexuality.

Frankie's the complete opposite of Jeremy with his abundance of sexuality, charm, and confidence which makes him the perfect tutor. His views on sex though couldn't be more different as he sees it as a tension reliever, something to do for fun with no plans for commitment. At the start of the story he's a bit jaded when it comes to love, thinking himself incapable of being someone's boyfriend because of his numerous past hook-ups. The more time he spends with Jeremy though the more intense his feelings become and as friendship turns to jealousy he soon finds himself committing wholeheartedly despite his fears of their sexual needs pulling them apart. I enjoyed Frankie's exuberance and his sexy tutelage that ultimately had him learning something. I wish he'd been more honest with Jeremy at first as he almost ruined their connection by pushing him into something that was doomed to cause heartache. Once he accepted his feelings though he embraced what they had and was willing to do whatever necessary to keep Jeremy happy.

Though some readers may have a problem with Frankie and Jeremy's way of satisfying both of their needs through their foursome with another committed couple, I had no problem with it as it made Frankie completely accepting of the obvious truths to the feelings bubbling between the two of them. I also appreciated the unconventional path Ms. Harris took to give them their HEA as it was a unique and steamy journey. As to their HEA, I'm not entirely convinced of their staying committed as they're both young and horny, but for now theirs is a sexy and charming journey to togetherness that put a smile on my face while steaming up my glasses with each turn of the page.

Twofer ended up (no pun intended) being a much sweeter read than I expected. As we’re dealing with two college freshmen, one of whom was new to sex, I was expecting the obligatory angst, a butt load of sex (still, no pun intended), and just a little bit of romance. Harris does angst well as Frankie sets out to help his roommate, Jeremy, navigate the perils of dating and sex. Fortunately, the author does not go over-the-top with the angst as Frankie finds himself getting far more attached to Jeremy than he expected. After all, how can a relationship ever work between two bottoms with no interest in topping?

I really liked both Frankie and Jeremy, and that there was a true friendship between them that served as the basis for their story. Their friendship makes it easy to understand why Frankie is willing to get Jeremy in the dating scene, even more so once we learn that Frankie finds Jeremy attractive even while admitting to himself that a relationship between them could never work because he believes them to be completely sexually incompatible. Frankie’s willingness to go the extra mile for his friend makes for some seriously sexy scenes as he provides some hands-on instruction. While Frankie’s lessons are clear, his signals are mixed, and this leaves Jeremy questioning what they are to one another more than once. But as the lessons progress and their relationship changes, Frankie makes a last-ditch suggestion for a threesome in hopes that he can discover a way to keep Jeremy and get their needs met sexually without destroying their fledgling relationship.

Jeremy’s “dates” were a mix of hilarious and creepy. I caught myself laughing at his misery more than once when dealing with the latest dating app disaster. The threesomes were their own brand of misery and I began to question Frankie’s decision to keep trying them. I was surprised at how clueless Frankie was regarding Stephan. For a guy whose hit-it-and-quit-it routine demands that he be able to pick up on others’ signals, he was surprisingly obtuse when it came to Stephan’s feelings for him. Matt and Bruce turned out to be a pleasant surprise and I was so happy that friendship worked out as well as it did. I loved how supportive Frankie’s family was of him and Jeremy. But it was watching the awkwardness that was Frankie and Jeremy as their relationship changed over the course of the novel that was my favorite part of the book. I was pleased that Harris didn’t make their relationship easy and that their age and experience or lack thereof was obvious in their approach to one another. There was just the right amount of angst for their age and situation that made it believable for me, which also translated into some sweet and rather heartfelt moments between the guys. I thoroughly enjoyed Twofer and hope this is not the last we’ve seen of Frankie and Jeremy.

4 Heart Review by Amber

This was a very different type of m/m story. I’m trying to remember if I’ve ever read a story with this type of dynamic. With that said I really enjoyed this story. It was unique enough to catch and keep my attention throughout the book. It was mesmerizing how these characters struggled so much with these preconceived roles they thought they needed to focus so much on them. I liked how open they were to getting and using toys and realizing they could play around as long as they were honest and true to themselves and each other.

You can’t expect a relationship to work out with only two people. Sometimes you need to bring in outside help.

Jeremy and Frankie are teenage college roommates who share a dorm room. Jeremy a small town kid feels like a fish out of water in the super colorful gay scene that Miami offers. Frankie grew up in Miami so he’s use to the faster paced lifestyle. He’s also more comfortable in his skin, being gay and going out to be with men. He’s determined to get Jeremy out and meet men. He isn’t prepared for the feelings Jeremy is starting to ignite in him.

The two embark on a friends with benefits situation but both identifying and being more comfortable in the “bottom” role they continue to struggle with the mechanics of it all. Neither want to top. Neither want to be the aggressor so they are faced with quite a few stumbling blocks along the way.

I really liked these two characters. I thought they were adorable albeit a tad annoying and naive. I did appreciate their feelings though. It was obvious they both were struggling. I totally believed their connection.

Overall, this was a sweet, angsty read that is completely enjoyable.

A Joyfully Jay review.

Twofer is a cute, fun story about two college freshman who move from friends to something more. I enjoyed seeing Frankie take Jeremy under his wing and advising him on clothes, hair, and how to interact with guys. Poor Jeremy is sweet but kind of naive, and Frankie helps him learn to understand the culture of the young, gay college guy a little better. Ultimately both men realize that what they really want is each other, but figuring out if they can make that work is a whole other challenge. I liked these guys together. They are fun and sexy and their adventures are entertaining. Jeremy’s string of terrible dates cracked me up and there is just a nice, light tone to this story that I enjoyed.

I did have a few issues, however. I don’t think the relationship between them was really fleshed out or fully developed. The story felt choppy, like these guys were jumping from one point to the next without really showing how their feelings or relationship developed. I needed more to connect the dots and make the feelings between them seem believable. I felt their reactions to things also seemed choppy. One minute Frankie is sure they can’t make it last because they are both bottoms, then because he isn’t good enough, then that issue is over and never mentioned again. I just feel like I needed more between the sex scenes and the dates to show their relationship and character development.

For Frankie, coming to college has been great! He seems to have no problem finding guys to hook up with, and he's certainly not about to stop. His roommate, Jeremy, isn't quite having the same experience, however. It's not that he couldn't--Jeremy is a very attractive young man. But he's inexperienced and isn't able to approach the game with the same ease as Frankie. So Frankie makes it his personal mission to help Jeremy get laid, even offering to show him a thing or two in the process. Jeremy seems most comfortable with Frankie, but they're certainly not going to go there because it's a bit difficult for two bottoms to make it work, isn't it? So they set out to find a third, someone who can satisfy them both, offering up a "twofer" for a "lucky" top. But feelings and sex aren't always in tune with each other, and once they get tangled up, it can be very difficult to unravel them...

I have to admit that I always enjoy the stories Daisy Harris writes that are set in college. There's a quality she brings to her writing of the setting that lets you know the story is a bit fantastical but not really over the top (no pun intended). Frankie and Jeremy's story is one that probably does play out in some similar ways every once in a while in reality, and I found myself shaking my head at them more than once or twice.

This erotic m/m novella conjures up the carefree life that many experience when exploring the new vistas open when living on one's own for the first time. The combination of shyness and bravado, plus the flowering of confidence gained when one starts feeling comfortable is artfully portrayed and the author did a great job of reminding me all of the hesitance and euphoria experienced in a new situation that eventually becomes familiar and comfortable. There is a nice blend of sizzlingly carnal scenes and charmingly awkward situations in this coming of age story but one never gets a deep understanding of these two other than the fact that their education is being enhanced both in and out of the classrooms. A fun and sexy light read.

Twofer by Daisy Harris is a m/m story that features two college students who are struggling with both their classes and their sexual identities. Jeremy seems to be the opposite of his outgoing promiscuous roommate, Frankie, but they find out they have more in common than they believed. Their connection is complicated by the fact that neither one wants to be the ‘top’ in their relationship, but they’re bright college students, of course they will find a solution!

If you’re into M/M erotica, then hustle your buns and grab a copy of Twofer. Between Jeremy’s hilarious dating mishaps on Grindr and his red-hot lust for his sexy college roommate, you’ll find plenty of humor and heart in this tale of two boys looking for love in all the wrong places. (And if you’re a straight married chick like me, you’ll be thanking your lucky stars that apps like Grindr didn’t even exist when you were online dating!)

There’s lots of great character development in this book, and I really enjoyed getting to peek into the gay club scene in Miami. Frankie’s Cuban-American parents’ protectiveness of their kids, as well as Jeremy’s fish-out-of-water issues in taking on the more flamboyant local lifestyle (although compared to Wisconsin, what wouldn’t be?), both rang true for me. I also loved that while Frankie has a definite wild side, always pushing the sexual envelope and playing the field, he’s also a truly nice guy who worries about finding Mr. Right and settling down.

Playing on a traditional Odd Couple setup, you can’t help but root for these two to finally get together and stop pretending it’s all just a game.

I like Daisy Harris right?

I do?

Yes yes I do.

What a weird conversation to have with myself. Trouble is... this book/story sucked a bit hard.

I quite like the plot: what to do if you think you have to choose a partner based upon preconceived notions what being gay is about.
If you're from a American mid-western little town with absolutely no diversity in people I can see where this idea comes from.

That was not what spoiled the book for me. It wasn't even the interaction between the main characters. Bit heavy on weird ass angst but meh, not a problem. The problem lies in the telling of the story. Multiple times I felt vaguely offended. I don't really know why.

It's like when you heard so many times a 'compliment' that you just assume it is a compliment (like asking if your hair is real when you're wearing it loose and you have a. lots of hair and b. curls) when it's really not... That kind of vaguely offended.

It was something in the descriptions of people or behaviour of that just felt... off. And ruined the story enough for me to stop me from enjoying a Daisy Harris story.

This is a fast-paced and humorous story of two college Freshmen, figuring out that things aren't always straightforward in life, especially when you're talking about love. Jeremy is from the Mid-West, feeling very out of place both with himself and his situation. Frankie seems to be everything that Jeremy isn't - confident, secure and oozing sex appeal. Between the two of them, they need to figure out how to bring Jeremy out of his shell so that he can go after his first crush. Will things turn out the way they expect though?

I loved Frankie's mama - there is a nugget of advice right at the end of the book which is perfect for this story. The two boys try to hold back their laughter, I failed spectacularly, snorting out loud as I read it. Frankie and Jeremy are good together and the adventures they go on are great to read.

For anyone looking for a M/M romance on the lighter side, I can definitely recommend this.

It's a short novel, full of humor, about the difficulties of two young men to handle the passionate side and the romantic side of their relationship.
Jeremy and Frankie are roommates in college. They are two completely different guys. Frankie is very sociable, cheerful, likes to have fun and frequently changes partners. Jeremy is studying engineering, is very shy, awkward, clumsy and is still a virgin. He's in love with his classmate but isn't able to get his attention. Frankie tries to help him, discover instead of being attracted to each other. They have a lot to learn: Jeremy about sex and Frankie about how to handle a relationship, he never had one that has passed two weeks. But will it work?
This is not the classic love story, to try to achieve full satisfaction they are willing to put a third person in their relationship. They're two young men, for the first time away from home, and have to to grow, to know themselves well, their needs, their desires.
If you are looking for a M/M romance light, erotic and different from the usual try to read this one.

You all know I love a good M/M college based-story. Particularly ones where one of the heroes is just starting to explore/accept their sexuality for the first time. So how could I resist requesting a copy of Twofer by Daisy Harris from Netgalley? The answer is I couldn’t! Especially as Daisy Harris is one of my auto-buy authors. Shall we see what I thought?

What do you do when the only person you want to date is determined to get you laid by other people? Well if you’re Jeremy you play along and hope said person soon realises the error of their ways! From the very beginning it was clear that Jeremy only had eyes for Frankie; he cleaned and ironed Frankie’s laundry. If that isn’t a declaration of love I don’t know what is…

Meh. That's truly my feelings after finishing this. Both mains annoying me at various times, and frankly I didn't buy all of the plot. Between all of that and wanting to kick people in the head, I can't truly rec this one.
