Absolutely perfect book for tweens/early teens who enjoy graphic novels and comic books! Simple, never boring, concise story of the man who turned comic book characters into cultural icons.

One caveat: the images could have been better.

It was a bad book like half of the books I have read this year. i do not recommend this book if you don't need to read a biography.

The younger kids at the library have been excited about the Who Is …?/Who Was …? series for awhile. So, I had wanted to read a title in order to see what all the hoopla was about. I get it now. This series is an excellent introduction to the biography genre for grade school age kids! I loved getting to know Stan Lee and learning about his life. A wonderful addition to the biographical story is the inset pages with bits about historical events, authors who he read as a child, and some of the Marvel villains. Plus the excellent bibliography will give kids a place to go if they just have to know more. This particular title is a sure to be a hit with fans of Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Thor. It was great to get to know the man behind the comics!

this book is about the life of the creator of marvel.

what I liked about this book is that it said how he got the idea for spider man.

what I learned is comics sometimes have to be approved by the comics code.

This book is about Stan Lee's life. I love Stan Lee. I like how he just said he loved his wife the first day they met. I didn't know that much about him, like how he got his job. It was really surprising, and I agree that Robert Downey Jr. was perfect for Iron Man. So perfect. Too perfect. Anyway, this book was really easy to read. I really liked it. Stan Lee is one of my heroes. Marvel is the best!

Who is Stan Lee was a Fantastic book, I think Geoff Edgers did a great job writing this book. Stan Lee had a very interesting childhood, he had to get a job when he was nine years old! He was a very smart kid when he was young, that's how he got a job at timely comics. He had started out as an assistant and you have to read the book to see what he got as his other job. This book will intrigue you from the first page to the last so I encourage you to read this book.

I didn't care for the cover at all, and comic books aren't my thing but this book was fairly good: it covered everything. Sometimes you wish people wouldn't have to die so they could continue contributing to mankind in earth-shattering original ways. Stan Lee is one of those people.

I just finished the book "Who Is Stan Lee?" This book was fantastic. It was about the life of Stanley Lieber a comic book writer. Stanley was born in New York, when he was growing up he was poor, it was during the great depression. He started working young to help his family's income. He loved reading and writing. He started writing in the newspaper. He was a great writer. He moved up in positions and became a writer for Timely in New York. He got married and had a child named Joan Celia. Timely changed their name to Marvel, Stan wrote comics Like Iron man, Hulk, Thor, and many more. There was movies produced about these comics and Stan personally was in some of them. He is still alive and well. The theme is Stanley Lieber and how he progresses in life and builds up his career and family, how he became the face of Timely, and how he loves his daughter and wife. This was a great book. If you have ever read a Marvel comic or seen a Marvel movie and you enjoyed it this is the book for you. It shows the progression of these character and their stories. But if you don't like reading a biography this book probably isn't for you. But I really enjoyed reading this book.

I liked this book. It was interesting to read about how he started out as a teenager working at a small business, and then he started creating more characters, and his company got much more business. I thought that it was cool that Stan Lee had a small part in every Marvel movie. If you read the book, there is an entire page that has a list of all of the parts he had in the movies. It was really sad when his wife had their second baby girl, Jan, and she died a few days after she was born. I thought it was cute that him and his first daughter, J.C, had such a strong bond. It was a rally good book, and I request it for everybody.

This was my first Who Was/Is...? book. Definitely worth the read. It is probably around a 3rd to 5th grade level reader. It gives information in a nice pace without feeling overloaded. The only thing I didn't like was that I kept getting my timelines confused while reading. This was helped at the end where a timeline was included for clarification. I love the Marvel Universe...the movie versions. I have never been able to follow comic books or graphic novels well. It was fun to read about a man I have grown to admire through his creativity.

Who is Stan Lee is a book that all comic book readers and writers should try. It tells the story of Stan's life and how he got his first job making comic books. The story goes all the way up to when Stan started making comic book movies. But, Stan was just a big inspiration to many people and it is so sad that he had to pass away. It is overall a good read that I would recommend to people who like books that are nonfiction and comics to read.

This short biography for young readers was excellent. Stanley Lieber was the comics-loving son of immigrants who helped create Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, and many other super characters.

This books was pretty good. I'm not into Marvel and comic books and stuff like that but it was interesting to learn about Stan Lee. I knew who Stan Lee was but I didn't know anything about his life like how he got his job or how many super heroes he made. I also didn't know that his actual name was Stanley Lieber I thought it was just Stan Lee. It was cool to learn about his work life to. Like who his coworkers were and how he got to the his job. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about super heroes and there creator.

This book told the life story of Stan Lee. I learned about all the comics that are credited to his collection. Stan is a very smart man, he is the inventor of Spider-Man, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, and many other comics. It taught me that growing up Stan did not have much money, his parents were poor. He put in the hard work and dedication to see his dreams come true. If you enjoy reading comics then you will absolutely love this book. I will be keeping this on my must read again list!

This was a quick, enjoyable read full of factual information about Stan Lee and the world of comics. Do keep in mind that you don't even have to be a fan of comics or have that much knowledge of superheroes to find it interesting. For instance, did you know that there was a movement to ban comic books because they were thought to be harmful to children and to promote violence? This led to the "Comics Code of Authority" approval stamp being issued on many comic books considered to be "safe for children" back in the 1950's. I feel like I learned a lot and that always feels good!

I really can't emphasize enough how much I love this series of books. They're quick reads and provide lots of fascinating info. The pictures always provide lots of extra fun.

A couple things I learned about Stan Lee:

*His parents were from Romania
*Stan Lee is a pen name from Stanley Leiber.
*He wrote some stories for DC comics.
*He writes the stories, but doesn't draw the pictures. (I don't know why I always assumed he did both.)
