This is the third Dan Connor mystery.

Dan is planning to go on a nice, long vacation with Claire, his partner, when his superiors order him to go to the North Woods, in order to solve a series of murders. Walker, his sidekick, is already involved.

There's an oil pipeline going through, and someone is killing people attached to it. The main suspect is an Indian boy, who seems to have some sort of disorder on the autism spectrum. Most of the principals almost get themselves killed, and there's some pretty good suspense. I found the solution a bit unsatisfying, though.

Some of it is quite good, but it is infested by PC.

Dan has to leave Quadra Island to go toward the Queen Charlotte Islands in order to find out who is murdering the employees of the pipeline. They have an Haidi person as a person of interest; however, RCMP officer, Dan Connor, goes to help, Walker, a dear friend, to see if he can uncover the truth about the murders.

I loved the description of this most beautiful coastline in BC. The author went out of their way to describe the scenery so much to the fact that you felt like you were in the story, feeling & seeing. I loved the indigenous element that was inserted; the importance of the raven their beliefs & folklore, & I enjoyed the characters in the story.

This is the first time I've read something from this author & wouldn't hesitate to read another. A good read!

I enjoyed this novel. Love reading mysteries that occur in Canada. The characters are good and well developed, lots of interesting native lore and the plot unfolds at a good pace to keep you interested. I found the dialogue a bit weak at the beginning but that improved as the story continued.

Having grown up on the west coast (but not going back there for decades) this book transported me to the sights, sounds and smells of raw nature as it exists on the central northwest coast of British Columbia. Much of the setting is on boats, so it feels like an adventure trip without the hassle. The story is intense, with a likeable protagonist and love interest. I couldn't detect the culprit until the very end, so it kept my interest throughout. Touching on a conflict between First Nations people, environmentalists, and pipeline workers, it brought some tough issues into focus without feeling heavy. All the characters were well rounded and interesting with bright dialogue throughout. This is the first book I've read in the series, and didn't feel as though I missed anything. I believe the books are relatively stand-alone despite having a common protagonist. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will read more!

The author does a great job of weaving a good mystery in a backdrop of life on the Westcoast. Any boaters can certainly identify with the scenes described in the author’s Dan Connor series. Couldn’t put these books down.

This was a great mystery novel.

The setting was the best part of the book. The descriptions made me feel like I was actually in the boat traveling up and down the creeks with the characters. I needed a hot cup of tea to keep me warm during some of the scenes!

The identity of the murderer kept me guessing right up until the end of the novel.

Joel and Walker were my favorite characters. I wish they had been able to play a larger role because they were both fascinating characters.

Recommend this book to others and I would like to pick up some of the other Dan Connor books.

I love a good mystery book and this one was very interesting. Makes me want to buy the first two in the Dan Connor mystery series. I received this book through Goodreads Giveaways.
