Fergus MacKenzie protects his clan by collecting information and warning them of threats. When a redheaded American shows up out of the blue along a nearby lake, he watches her to find out more. However, when he watches her bend over in pain, he flies down to help her. Afterward, he should walk away. But he can’t stop thinking about her green eyes and addictive touch. Both man and beast want her more than anything in their lives.

As Fergus learns more of Gina’s past, he knows she will bring danger to his clan. Torn between protecting his family and following his heart, will Gina and Fergus be able to find a happy ending? Or, will danger force Fergus to choose between love and clan?

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***Received the ebook from the author for an honest review

The cover is beautiful as always though it is rare to see two gingers together, but only because I don’t know that they would survive each other because redheads tend to be… well you can figure it out. I speak from experience ;)

This is the 2nd book in this series which is a spin off of Stonefire Dragons. Yes, you could read this book without reading the others, but you would be cheating yourself. I have loved all the book’s Jessie has written and I have bought most of them even though I was given a copy to review because I can’t think of a better way to support the author you love if you can afford to. I sometimes have to wait, but I eventually get them. That being said, I highly recommend reading them all in order because you gain perspective and history of all the wonderful characters that Jessie has created. It is always a great day when I get a new book by Jessie to read especially if I can start it right away.

Gina is an American on the run in Scotland because she wants to keep her baby. American dragons are not as bonny as Scottish dragons. Of course, if you read book 1, you know who Fergus is, and this is his story. There is plenty of action and bickering MacKenzies to keep you entertained and laughing. I even cried because I’m a sucker for sappiness when I connect with the characters. I couldn’t put the book down. I can’t wait for more of Jessie’s dragons.

I highly recommend this series and any of Jessie’s Dragon stories to all dragon romance fans especially if you like a dragon with an accent.

I loves me some Scotsmen, and when they shift into dragons? Even better!

This novel is just as exciting as Donovan’s other dragon shifter stories, but even more emotionally hard hitting. I love the intricate development of dragonshifter culture, way of life, and history. It truly enhances the exciting tale that Donovan weaves. Donovan writes sex scenes that are hot as sin, yet that also serve to build an emotional relationship between the main characters.

Let’s not forget the characters in this fantastic novel. Donovan doesn’t mince words when it comes to her characters’ personalities. They’re vivid, larger than life, and oh so real. I couldn’t help but get caught up in the family dynamics that appear. Every character in the novel has an important role to play, coming to life in unforgettable manner without overpowering the main characters. I found Gina and Fergus to be one of the most intriguing couples to date as Fergus shows once and for all that there’s definitely more to the mate bond than simply instinct and bred-in necessity.

Action packed and suspenseful at times, sizzling hot at others, and yet, Donovan still manages to portray the camaraderie of everyday life on Lochguard with ease & a flair that will have you wanting to become part of the clan.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

My favorite dragons, I love them and their quirkiness... My man Fergus McKenzie may finally get his wish!

Gina McCloud has fled the US to the Highlands, why? The US Dragon Clan want her baby that's why and she is in no way going to let those dragonmen get her baby! But will she be successful in keeping her baby safe, after all she is a mere human and all alone. Now she's got a dragonman sitting around watching her and she doesn't trust any dragonman.

Fergus McKenzie has given up hope of ever having want he's wanted the most, a mate and family, but then he catches sight of a very pregnant human and he can't help the desire to watch and protect her. After much convincing he takes her to Lochart, but will the DDA allow her to stay, or will the US Clan find her and take her baby? Has Fergus finally found his mate and a son in the process?

Fergus is the most level headed of the dragonmen, so he can control his dragon somewhat more than the others, but he has been having a hard time with him lately, ever since meeting Gina and touching her!

I love this series, I love all the stories of these dragons, I think Dr. Sid and Faye may have their stories soon, I sure hope so.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

A great addition to the series

Thoroughly enjoyed Fergus and Gina. Things happen fast in the dragon world but the story flows so well you don't really notice only a couple weeks have passed. Gina needs to learn to trust again and Fergus works hard to help her do it. I loved the easy acceptance Fergus gives Gina's child, claiming him as his own. Family is all yo the dragons and it shone brightly here. Looking forward to more stories about this family.

Pregnant and on the run, Gina MacDonald will do anything to protect her unborn child but despite her determination to stay away from all dragon-shifter males, Fergus’ touch helps ease her tension and sets her skin on fire in this splendid paranormal romance.

In order to protect his clan, Fergus has been watching the red-headed American but when he gets close he finds that both man and beast want her more than anything in their lives and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the passion and emotional turmoil that flows from the pages as Fergus and Gina try find a happy ending. These strong captivating characters grab reader’s by the hand, draw them into their story and refuse to let go while they turn their hearts upside down with the emotional side of thing, heat up their desires on the passion side of things and put fireworks on display on the romance side of things – another words a relationship building into a spectacular romance in this fast paced, smooth flowing plot that keeps readers well entertained.

Expectation builds as Gina reveals just who she is running from and why which adds to the emotional turmoil of both Gina and Fergus as it brings trouble calling and excitement builds as Lochguard is attacked and Finn scrambles to find a way to protect Gina and the clan with some unexpected twists and surprises along the way to keep everyone on their toes and a quite a few chuckles to brighten the day as the intriguing events ensure that there is never a dull moment while they draw the reader into this exciting story.

Jessie Donovan’s done it again, as she has provided another splendid dragon-shifter story that I couldn’t put down and since I get to know the characters more each time and learn more about the conflicts that the dragons face, I get so very excited and caught up in the story that I don’t want to leave.

DRAGO-LICIOUSLY CUTE AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: The Dragon Guardian
Series: Lochguard Highland Dragons
Designation: Book Two of Series, Standalone Novel, NO Cliffhanger
Author: Jessie Donovan
My Rating: FIVE CAPTIVATING STARS*****
Love, love, love it! Wow! I never thought I would say this but I have a new favorite book and a new favorite dragonman! Move over Tristan MacLeod of Clan Stonefire, Fergus MacKenzie just stole the spotlight in The Dragon Guardian, Jessie Donovan's newest release in her captivating Lochguard Highland Dragons Series and I'm totally smitten! I've been a Jessie Donovan fan for several years and have read and totally loved every single dragon shifter book she's ever released but I must say, The Dragon Guardian is hands down, my new favorite! And as is the case with all of Donovan's books, this story is imaginative, fast paced, humorous and exceptionally well crafted, well edited and beautifully written. The narrative is skillfully written in the third person with alternating his and her points of view. My favorite! The dialogue is smart, sassy, exceptionally well executed and flows beautifully. Donovan is, without a doubt, a master storyteller and her world building skills are unparalleled, but it's her wonderful cast of captivating, engaging and well developed characters that steal the show every single time. They literally explode from the pages and capture your heart. I completely fell in love with the two protagonists of this story, handsome Lochguard Clan intelligence analyst Fergus MacKenzie and beautiful, sassy and very pregnant former American college student, Gina MacDonald. The formerly down to earth Fergus and the fiery red-haired Gina are a match made in heaven. And what exactly do I mean by formerly? Well, Fergus MacKenzie has always been the sensible brother whereas his twin, Fraser, is known for his naughty sense of humor as well as his rash and often questionable decision making which usually lands him into trouble more times than not, with his most recent act of stealing his brother's sacrifice and soon to be mate ranking at the top of his latest sins. But we all know, when a dragon finds his true mate, fate can never be denied which Fergus can finally understand now that he and his dragon have spotted the beautiful and utterly irresistible but very pregnant red-haired human beauty, Gina MacDonald, who has recently taken up residence in her grandmother's small cottage on the shores of Loch Shin. Let the shenanigans begin!

Dragonman Fergus MacKenzie of Clan Lochguard has always enjoyed observing humans and one of his favorite pastimes has been sitting on the rocky hills surrounding Loch Shin in his dragon form surveying the humans of the nearby village, but recently it has become much more than a way to pass the time. Ever since he spotted the lovely red-haired lass living in a small cottage on the shores of the lake, he can't seem to get the very pregnant human female out of his thoughts and has now resorted to spending every available opportunity watching her home while waiting for her to make an appearance. And his dragon is certainly not helping the situation by demanding that he go speak with her and introduce himself. What the heck is his dragon up to? Since the female is pregnant, she must already have a husband or mate, right? Wrong! He's been spying on her for months and has never seen a husband, nor any visitors, so when she doubles over in pain outside her cottage on a cold winter's day, Fergus can't stop himself from flying down to offer his assistance. Finally, his dragon lets the cat out of the bag. The fiery Gina MacDonald is his true mate! What? How in the world can an already pregnant female be his true mate? Oh no! Oh yes! And to further complicate the situation, Fergus discovers that Gina is in hiding and on the run because she's pregnant by a unscrupulous American dragon shifter from the infamous Clan BroadBay in Virginia who wants to kidnap her and take her baby? Huh? But no matter the danger, we all know when a dragon finds his true mate, there's absolutely nothing that can stop him from claiming his prize and let's just say that Fergus' dragon is determined to have not only the bonnie lass, but the baby as well! Oh my!

Courageous and fiercely independent Gina MacDonald finds herself in quite the predicament. As a result of becoming pregnant by American dragonman Travis Parker of Clan BroadBay, Gina has lost everything. The former American college student had only one quarter left to complete her degree in marketing but had to give up her dreams when her parents not only turned their backs on her but also refused to help her after discovering she's pregnant by a dragon shifter. If she wants to keep her baby, her only option was to flee America and seek refuge with her elderly grandmother in the Highlands of Scotland. But shortly after arriving, her grandmother dies and Gina now finds herself alone and vulnerable. And the black dragon from Clan Lochguard perched on the rocky hills surrounding Loch Shin, who has been spying on her for months, is not helping her precarious situation. After already suffering a heartbreaking rejection by the dragon shifter father of her unborn child, Gina has no intention of interacting with another dragonman. She now has a baby to protect and her sole focus must be on saving her unborn half dragon shifter son. She has no interest in another male, especially not a dragon shifter who may try to turn her over to Clan BroadBay, or worse, steal her baby. So, what's a girl to do when a handsome, irresistible black dragon swoops down to offer his aid and service as her guardian? Why fall in love with him, of course! True love can never be denied! Can the charming Fergus MacKenzie manage to convince the fiercely independent Gina MacDonald to trust again and accept his help as well as his love? Will Fergus be able to save Gina and her baby when an old enemy combines forces with a new threat? We'll see! Let the seduction begin! Oh my goodness! Here we go again!!! Handsome, possessive and very determined dragon shifter-check! Stubborn, fiercely independent and very pregnant human heroine-check! Dangerous American dragon shifter clan-check! An old enemy who refuses to accept defeat-check! A wonderful cast of new and returning characters-check! Danger, drama, action, suspense, adventure, heartbreaking angst and enemies at every turn-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, heartwarming romance and of course, dreamy sex-check! After all, this is a Jessie Donovan book! That and a whole lot more! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
***Complimentary copy received in exchange for an honest review. I may have received a review copy for this book but please allow me to state for the record, I was a loyal fan of Jessie Donovan's work long before I received an advance review copy of any of her releases. Donovan's books are always original, imaginative and remarkably well crafted and edited with unique stories, fascinating characters and beautiful covers. What did I love about this book? Everything! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! I'm not a professional reviewer but I know what I like, what I love and what I don't and I loved this book! This is one story you don't want to miss! We learn quite a few surprising details about some of our favorite secondary characters from Donovan's previous books and she also introduces some very fascinating new characters, who I'm sure, we'll be seeing again in the near future. I can hardly wait to see what Donovan has in store for us next!

Oh wow dragon Guardian is absolutely fabulous from beginning to end and the sexual chemistry in this book was off the charts and smoking hot. But i did find myself laughing in different parts of the story line. I love how the characters made to book really entertaining which made it very difficult to put the book down. This is the second book I've read by Jessie Donovan and wow this was another fantastic read and the cover is fabulous. I thought i knew what i was going to read but wow was i proved wrong in all the good ways and if you love dragon shifters with a scottish accent then this books by this author as i would highly recommend her books.

This is the second book in Jessie Donovan's Lochguard Highland Dragon series. It's the love story of Gina MacDonald, a red headed american pregnant woman on the run and Fergus MacKenzie, protector of his clan.

This is a fun loving alpha read. It proves that love is in the eye of the beholder not it it's DNA. Fergus and his dragon want Gina as their mate and it doesn't matter that she is carrying another dragon man's baby. He will fight to make them part of his family and to keep them there.

Poor Gina has been used by a dragon man and then toss aside. She finds out she is only one of several woman who have become pregnant by said dragon man due to nothing more then a bet. She gets to know Fergus, who has basically been stalking her, better when she begins to have pain in her stomach and he rush's to her rescue. She's not really sure what to make of him but she feels safe with him and they begin to build a real relationship.

I love that we get more and more dragon facts with each book and new characters as well as visit from other dragon clans. This book seemed a little differently written then Jessie's other dragon books but I still enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

I'm so happy that Fergus got a HEA, but I wasn't as interested in Gina's story as much as some of the other heroines. This book really had me fascinated with everything going on in the clan more than the love story. The traitor dragons, dragon hunters, and dragon knights had me eager to find out what Gina's role in everything was, more than whether she was Fergus' true mate or not.

I am fascinated though at the extra tidbits I keep learning about the clan and shifters in general. It's never been mentioned previously that the mate-claim frenzy could be delayed for any reasons, yet we learn here it can. The clans and the relationships between all the dragons are honestly what keeps me reading this series more than anything else. The feeling of family between all the members is lovely and a joy to read.

Loved It!!!

I am so happy to say that this book was awesome! I was very worried because the first book in the Lochguard Dragon series with Fraser, was the most awful book in the series. This book was very well written, off the charts amazing characters and the continuity like always was exceptional. Unlike Fraser, his twin Fergus was an amazing character that I loved from the first page. He is funny, strong. protective, incredibly smart and driven. Gina is a great human female to join the series and WAY better than Holly. Gina is smart, funny, loyal & brave. She was great from the moment she was introduced. This book had everything you would want in it, strong romance, battle, heartache, friendship, tragedy and more. I loved it from the first page right til the last.

Fergus Mackenzie has always wanted a family of his own but had all but run out of hope after losing his female sacrifice to his twin. But on one of his scouting missions he ran into a pregnant female that set his dragon off and made him feel again.

Gina MacDonald is heavily pregnant and on the run. She was tricked by a dragon shifter in America, who claimed they were true mates, but he wasn't and not only that but he purposely got her pregnant by poking holes into the condom because of a bet he made. When she confirmed his pregnancy he laughed at her and told her the truth and also told her that because she was not a sacrifice she had no rights and he and his clan would take the baby the moment she was born. Her parents who hate dragon shifters, disowned her and refused to help, but she managed to escape and fled to her grandma's in a small town in Scotland.

Fergus meets Gina and their connection was instant. Fergus and his dragon knew almost straight away that they were True mates but fortunately did not have to worry about the frenzy yet because she was already pregnant. But due to her having a half dragon baby and being Fergus's true mate, as well as the American Clan hunting her, it was not safe for her to stay there.

Fergus called on his family and cousin Finn who is the clan leader, for help. Shocking Gina, she got to see how good dragon shifters are and while there are bad apples, not all are evil. Gina fitted in quite well with the Mackenzie family and the Lochguard Dragons, but they needed the help of the DDA to allow her to become a permanent member.

In the mean time, Fergus and Gina get to know each other and soon enough bond and become attached to each other. Gina was terrified that she would not be allowed to stay, not only because she liked it at Lochguard and it would be best for her son after he is born, but because she was falling in love with Fergus and did not want to leave.

Finn went off to Stonefire and with the help of the Stonefire clan, they began to talk with the DDA about making a deal for Gina to stay with Lochguard. While Finn was away the Lochguard traitors made a reappearance along with their new friends, the American dragons that were after Gina and her son.

The battle was great to read and we got multiple points of view that leads to more storylines for future books in the series. But the battle was epic and while there was a tragedy of a female and her daughter being killed in the bombing, the rest of Lochguard, Stonefire and the DDA one against the bad guys and took most of the bad guys into custody.

While the battle was ongoing, Gina went into early labor. Fergus and his mum, his sister-in-law Holly were all there to help her through and she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Fergus had told Gina before that he considered the baby his own and would always love him and raise him as thus. Gina finally got to see that when Fergus held him for the first time and realised she was utterly blessed with her dream coming true of having a loving family. Finn called on video and got Fergus and Gina to be officially mated right then in front of him and Bram the Stonefire Clan leader, to give more ammo for the DDA. Since Gina was in love with Fergus already and wanted it badly, she accepted on the spot and so did Fergus. They were happily mated and planned to have a big celebration later.

Later on when Finn returns, he brought good news. Gina and her son were approved by the DDA and were now considered a Lochguard members. Gina and Fergus were over the moon but the good news kept coming. Finn was told by the DDA that Gina's parents and younger sister were offered to go into basically the witness protection program to prevent backlash by the American dragons, the only catch was they could never contact Gina again. Her parents being the bastards they are jumped at the chance but her little sister said hell no and wanted to be relocated to Lochguard with her sister, her new mate and nephew. The DDA granted her special license and the sisters were reunited at the end of the book. Gina was over the moon because she and her sister were very close and she wanted to see her again and the fact that she could now live with the Lochguard dragons with her was more than she could have dreamed.

So we got a happily ever after in the end. But we still have more questions about the traitor dragons because the captured ones said some interesting things in this book, that lead to a bigger storyline that needs to be addressed at some point and I cannot wait. I am also really, really, REALLY looking forward to reading Grant and Faye's book, as well as Dr. Cassidy and Dr. Gregor's book. I am really curious about how Cassidy lost her dragon.

All in all, this was a great book and is now my second favorite book in the combined series. Reawakening The Dragon, with Kai and Jane is still my favorite but this is a close second and then Tristan and Mel's book is third. I just hope we do not have another atrocious book like The Dragon's Dilemma, god that book was horrible lol

I love this wee spin off series

As much as I love them tho I get soooo confused with the reading order between the two series I started reading a stone fire book and it was saying things I didn't know. Which leads me here book 2 in lochguard, I love lochguard as much as I love stone fire so I was glad to catch up with them again. I can now go back to the original book I was reading or CAN I !!!!!! 😲 who know the order between the series coz I don't.

It was a great quick read easy get in to lots of old faces and great storylines as per 😍. I really enjoyed this read Gina was feisty but lovely all the same just like most of our female leads done my Jessie Donovan as well as caring alpha males 😊.

Addictive & Wonderful

Ever since the foreshadowing teaser with Fergus in Fraser's book I have been so wanting to know more. This book I think has been one of the best so far in the series! It grabs you into the pages and doesn't let you back up until the very end! I literally devoured this book in less than 24 hrs! Action, Excitement, Laughter mixed with seriousness, passion & Sweet romance. This one has it ALL. It also mixed in ALL of the prior books Characters that help to enrich & keep this world so vividly realistic & full!
100% A fantabulous writer to create such a fun book!
On to the next one.... Lol

I was hooked to Gina and Fergus’ story. Learning about American dragon shifter clans made me want to learn more about Jessie’s dragon shifter universe (wonder if there’s a clan in Pennsylvania). Fergus’ devotion and thoughtfulness towards Gina made me want to be in her shoes. Loved how Gina bloomed into the strong woman she is. Lochguard continues to surprise me with its growing family. FinnBella are still an amazing couple. Every Jessie Donovan fan should read this book. Thank you again Jessie for another wonderful couple.

Brilliant Series

The Dragon Guardian (Lochguard Highland Dragons Book 1) by Jessie Donovan. Gina has been tricked by a dragon in America to become pregnant but they only want the baby so Gina runs to Scotland where she is seen by Fergus. When she seems to be in pain he calls Holly to check her over. Taken to Lochguard for safety where Fergus claims her as his mate. When the American clan come for her there is a fight but the Americans are seen off and now Gina can stay with Fergus without any worry.

DNF - that was pretty boring stuff. There was so much exposition and dialogue to give character backstories that, instead of reading them do things, I had to take the authors word for it- boring. And like I get that the FL is pregnant and the ML family is boisterous but you don’t need to have the whole story occur in like 2 days. It says the FL was around for months, like why did the story have to be so smushed. The forced urgency is lazy.

Another great book of one of the twins!

Loved it!!! I’m so happy that there was a story for Fergus in which I kind of had a feeling he had found someone in the first book if this series. I think it was beautiful how he cane upon his true mate and how they overcame everything else that was thrown to them. You won’t be disappointed.

It was a nice read and I enjoyed the romance between Fergus and Gina. Baby Jamie was very adorable too. I just want too sure about multiple couples that we kept following, both established and not established. I feel this book would’ve been better focusing on just the main couple and the trouble at the clan lands.

Great story

I enjoyed Fergus' story in book 2 even more than Fraser's story in book 1. The characters are interesting and well-developed, and the plot is action-packed! Great book! Could be read as a standalone, though better when read with book 1. Loved it!

Not as interesting as the first in the series. Found the characters not as engaging and the constant bickering of the family members got annoying. There was for me too much of not the main character's story being added to bit by bit which took away from the main plot.

I habe a question.... where the fuck did Fergus keep his phone, in chapter 2 he calls Holly and Finn, buuuut he was naked, where does he keep it??? I'm only guessing weird places (anyway, that's not the reason behind the 2 stars, it was boring and that's it)

Good story, could be better

I feel like there is alot missing to the story. Everything moved really fast, there just wasnt enough detail. It could be a great story and it has a lot of potential but its just not quite there yet.
