The Enough Series #2

Enough Time: Truth. Redemption. Trust

Rate this book
**This book is considered a Dark Erotic Thriller containing elements of BDSM, and scenes containing M/F and M/M.**
Synopsis:
I was raw, exposed like a nerve with no protection from the present, nor the horror of my past. Winston West was a man I no longer knew. He was an illusion, an enigma of a life that I once led. So how was I alive? Oxygen was inhaled, life sustained, but I was dead inside. Such a cliche.

To the outside world I was strong, confident, determined. But when you got close, and really looked at the man in front of you, that’s when the ugly showed itself. The demons of my past played over and over in my head. I saw the world through jaded eyes.

Life with Charlie was bright, vibrant. Moments and memories existed in technicolor. That was gone. An epic sequence of events which ended in a collision of fantasy and reality. I couldn’t even say her name; that was too real, too painful. I had made her a vow, a promise and I was struggling to keep it. No more lies, no more secrets.

I thought the sins of the past were buried deep. That they would never resurface. I was dead wrong. One phone call, one insignificant event in a life so off course, begins to shatter what sanity I had left.

I was prepared to give up. Chalk my life up to a mistake of biblical proportions when she appears. I didn’t want to like her, let alone need her. Funny thing is, I wasn’t the only one harboring secrets. Could I become the person I needed to be, that she deserved? Was I even worthy of redemption?

What she offered to me was something I never thought I deserved.

Hope.

If you are not into the twisted and dark, just skip the first book. The sequel gives enough information about the happenings of the first, that you can easily read this one without the first and you'll probably - if you're not in need of erotica - give this one a five star rating.

romance

When the first book was too dark and twisted for you, you will love this "pulling-your-heartstrings", "50-shades-of-grey-ish-but-without-the-kink" sequel.... but you probably won't buy it, just because of the first.
If you are expecting to get the same as in the first part, you'll be utterly disappointed.
Needless to say that I was and still am.

Winston's self-tormenting, and suddenly vanished mourning as he meets Kacie and their dancing around each other before somewhat suddenly confessing that they have feelings for each other was not what I wanted to read.
And the short trips into the erotic genre were exactly that: brief. . Why wasn't that more explored?
With that the book broke my major rule: erotica only. Which made me want to angrily lash out and give this book only two stars. But that wouldn't be just.

What I truly liked about that book was - apart from the pace being unbalanced - the wonderfully narrated development of Winston's character, his coming to terms with himself and his eventual healing.
The writing style is very good and easy to read. I just hope Ms. Riddley finds an editor (as in the classical sense) who will help her find a better pacing and less perfect coincidences. She could be a brilliant author.
This book was an emotional roller coaster and I caught myself often enough feeling for and with Winston. It was just a bit too cheesy for me as well.
Sadly, Winston's and Kacie's voices were too similar and for me, personally, the book would have been more intriguing if it had been Winston's voice only.

three star rating

Although technically improved the story itself was a let down for me, which is why I see myself giving the sequel a slightly lower rating than it's predecessor.

I didn't know if I could love or forgive Winston after Enough Secrets. He was one of those characters that you could see a glimpse of the good hidden beneath all the evil that was spewing from him, and you just didn't know if he had gone too far to find redemption.

In Enough Time - we see the Winston that Charlie fell in love with. The Winston who knows love but doesn't think he deserves it. Thinking that he had a new start, Winston moves to Los Angeles, far away from the demons he went through with Charlie and Aiden. The thing is you can't run far from your demons. They always have a way of catching up with you. And Winston's new life is put on hold as he deals with Aiden once again.

There were so many twists and turns with this book, just like book one. Alexis knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat, turning the pages until you've reached the finish line.

Although not quite as dark as the last book, Enough Time will still a story unlike anything out there and will keep your interests peaked and wanting more from this incredible author.

I was so exited when I found out Alexis was writing a book for my Winston. Yes I said mine because HE IS MINE!!! At the end of book 1, I was shattered my heart was literally in pieces. I felt like I couldn’t breathe!! I needed my Winston to have an HEA so bad. Book 1 left me speechless with my mouth hanging open so I definitely needed this book. If you haven’t read book 1, GET ON IT RIGHT NOW!! You are missing out so much.

This book brought back a lot of emotion from book 1. My heart still hurt for Winston so bad. I wanted to crawl through my kindle and just hold him and cuddle him so badly. This poor sweet man has already been through so much and I was pulling for him so hard to finally get some piece. Winston thinks he is lost forever and destined to live his life alone for the choices he has made until Kacie steps in and everything changes within a blink of an eye.

I FLOVE Kacie. Not only is she the rock Winston needs but never truly realizes he is also the rock she needs. She hasn’t had an easy life either but these two are completely meant for each other. But it takes a bit for them to both realize it.

Winston did piss me off a little in this book but I still love him whole-heartedly. He has suffered and is scared to move on and let anyone in. But just when things are looking up the past comes back full force and everything changes yet again. There were a few times this book made me tear up. AHH my heart was hurting yet again. But there are also parts that made me melt completely. Don’t miss out on this book… it’s everything I hoped for and SO MUCH MORE!!!! Good job Alexis and thank you for giving my Winston his HEA!

The twists keep coming. What can I say about this book but OMG! If you have read book 1 then get ready for another emotional roller coaster journey full of twists, turns, setbacks, achievements, and forgiveness. Enough Time is a very emotional second chances love story with a bit of darkness. The end of book 1 "Enough Secrets" completely wrecked me. So I was so happy for a continuation to Winston's story. I was really impressed with the plot and how well written this story is...

They say time heals all wounds that every day it gets easier and easier, and eventually you would get over her. Well, whoever said that could kiss my ass. You never get over a love like ours, and it hadn’t gotten any easier.

I felt so emotionally invested in Winston my heart was crying for him. Winston West life has unraveled in the worst ways. He is merely existing. He has lost everything. His wife, his business, all from the hands of who he thought was his best friend.

All the years I was afraid of the pain letting go of the past might bring. But this, this moment of helplessness and loss...this was true pain. Before I was scared, now I was lost.

I absolutely adored Kacie Reese, she is bold, smart, funny and beautiful. She challenges Winston at every turn, but he keeps pushing her away.

This has been an truly amazing read.

It's always so exciting for me to discover a new author to add to my list of favorites and Alexis Riddley is definitely one of them.

After reading Enough Secrets, I was really scared going into book two. No I’m totally not joking here. I thought, okay this can’t get any more messed up right? Wrong! This book was way better than the first, and again, Alexis had me on edge. Winston, man this guy right here, he pulled on my heart strings so much in this book. We get a different side of him in this book which I loved by the way. I’m glad we got his point of view and we got to see this side that I had no idea even existed. And I really did want to take him out of the book and tell him all would be fine. I never expected, yet again, some of the things that happened in this book either. Just when I thought, okay yeah, this is how things will go, NOPE! Alexis has a knack at keeping things secret until it literally smacks you full force. But I loved that. It’s awesome to read a book and not already know the outcome or how it will go. I can say I loved the way this one ended. I felt the ending was perfect actually and again, Alexis I will be impatiently waiting for another book. Highly recommend reading these books. You will not be disappointed.

I have been blown away with this series, I loved this book much more than the first and believe me I really loved the first book!!! Having to battle with the loss in his life Winston West decides to move away and try to start a new life, yet he doesn't believe he deserves a second chance at life or love. In Enough Time you get a deeper insight of Winston's struggles in his relationship with Aiden and Charlie. I absolutely fell in love with Winston and his journey throughout this book and my heart also went out to Aiden in the end, he was dealt a hand that no child should have to deal with.
I loved the dynamics of the dominant and submissive trait of each wanting to look after the other, this was shown perfectly in this story.
I would describe this book as one hell of a ride emotionally, have the box of tissues on hand because you will need them. The twists in the story lines paired with a broken man trying to find himself again had me enthralled, this is one series I will be reading over and over again.

Winston has lost so much and is trying everything he can to move on. He is scared and torn in the midst of maintaining his head in his work. He is destined to live his life alone forever more.
Kacie enters and becomes exactly what he needs. She changes everything almost instantly for Winston. She too has endured a lot in her life and they may both soon realize that they are what is good for on another.
The past however, does not stay in the past. It still creeps up and takes center stage in Winston's life. Will things look up once again for them? Facing this head on will only make them realize how made for each other Kacie and Winston really are.

An unexpected KNOCKOUT! I wanted to read this story, my first by the author, based solely on the synopsis. This was not what I was expecting. It was much MORE. I laughed, I cried. It’s about love, death, sex and violence. The opening chapter grips you immediately. The storyline and the characters are flawless. The main hero, Winston, is very much flawed too, but you want to reach in and hold him during his bouts of weakness and depression. It’s a smart, searing thriller that moves perfectly. A romance of tender intimacy and erotic sensuality.

“I will not make you do what you do not want to. But understand me when I say this. When the time comes…you will not only ask me you will be beg me”

A major life altering event sends Winston West to L.A. to start a new life. After being struck by one of life’s tragedies, Winston looks forward to work and more work to drown his demons and sorrows. As told by the POV of Winston West, you have the pleasure of experiencing the highs and lows of both his desire for Kacie Reese and his loss.

He has suffer a life altering event leaving him damaged, withdrawn and lonely. He goes through life, devoid of any human interaction outside his office. Even his new life, his do-over, in L. A is not bringing much solace until he bumps into Kacie Reese ~ literally. Fate keeps throwing her in his path on many occasions. Each time the sexual pull gets stronger. Who is this woman? Why does his body all of sudden responds to her so sexually?

Kacie’s life is not all perfect either. She is carrying the weight of the world too. She comes into Winston’s life during a time of torment and guilt; when he has given up all hope. As a couple, they are both dealing with difficult pasts. Together they can become what the other person needs. She can help him fight for what he wants.

As a reader, you will find an un-expected view of lust, love, marriage, loss, forgiveness and hope. When you find yourself all choke up with tears falling down your face as you read, you have a 5 KINK review on your hands. Loved it.

Just in case you do not want any spoilers, here is how I sum this up for you. From the darkest dark there comes light. With a little hope and faith, anyone can persevere. This book made my little heart happy.

The moment Alexis Riddley announced she was releasing another book; I did a little happy dance. I could not wait to dive into the mysterious Winston West’s head. Alexis’s first book was such a mind twist in the best of ways, that I could not wait to wait and see what she had for us this time. With Enough Secrets, what I thought was going on and what truly was going on was never the case.

I must say Alexis did not let me down with how I envisioned Winston West in this book. From Winston’s heartache to his snark, it was exactly how I seen him in my mind. Even when the saucy Kacie throws him for a loop, it is how I could see this once broody man handling the situation.

“I need you to know that my heart is torn into pieces. It’s like you are pulling back all the layers that I have hidden behind my entire life, even with Charlie. You expose me.” Winston West

When this book starts, poor Winston was doing his best to survive and not succumb to his grief. Man oh man!! I wanted to scoop this man up into a monster bear hug and tell him everything will be okay. I could feel his pain and just wanted to make it all better.

The more desperate I was to be someone’s everything, the more I became both of our nothings. ~Poet Darcy

Winston was lost and when you are lost, you make mistakes not even though you do not mean too. It killed me reading some parts when I knew in my heart Winston would regret his actions. Even if they were hot has hell when he did them. He was doing whatever he could just to tread water until a saucy woman named Kacey Reese came crashing into his life. I absolutely loved how Kacie pushed Winston and made him strive to be more than he ever imagined he could be. I smiled so many times as Winston came back to life and fought to be more.

My girl Kacie Reese was a firecracker to be reckoned with. She was good at what she did and everyone knew it. Kacie had her own demons she hid from the world. Not wanting anyone to know she suffered too. Kacie needed Winston more than she ever wanted to admit in the beginning. I loved the tango she played with him until she gave in and wanted more. She just had no clue that Winston’s secrets could run so deep.

“Kacie, what are you doing to me?”

Watching these to fight to me something together was something special. I loved how Alexis Riddley unraveled this story. The ending of this book was just freaking beautiful. Not everything is butterflies and roses in life and Alexis showed us just that.

Everything comes full circle in life even if you do not think it could ever happen.

Enough Time by Alexis Riddley is the second of a two part series that should be read in order. Enough Secrets follows Winston's life before he moves to Los Angeles.

Winston West wants a fresh start in life. Moving to Los Angeles after his wife was murdered in front of him was supposed to be just that. But he has been merely surviving these past few months. Nothing feels right. Work, and home are the only places that see him. When he runs into a pretty girl he really is t ready for his body's reaction.

Kacie Reece is a girl that has had her fair share of grief. Being a lawyer makes her some sort of fierce. What does a brief run in with an infuriating man do to her mind? Well it turns her brain to mush is what it does. Is there something in his passed that is too dark even for her to handle?

When Winston gets a call from his father he is more than just surprised. He is spitting angry that his past has caught him once again. He needs help, and who better to turn to than the sweet and sassy Kacie Reece. When pictures and a video make it into his possession he is leery of watching the video. When he does he is forced to bring Kacie in and tell her everything g about his past with Aiden, Charlie, and his father.

When things heat up between Kacie and Winston is there something from his last that's too much for her? Are there things that he doesn't k ow about the past? What's going to happen when Aiden decides that he wants what he thinks is his. When Kacie sticks around after some particularly heave baggage is revealed he knows just what she is. She is his second chance. He starts formulating a plan for their meeting with his father and Aiden. When more is revealed than Winston ever believed, he doesn't know how to handle it. Kacie is so strong and he needs her strength.

Find out what happens when a past love won't let you go but a new love is swelling to life. Is there a good chance that this could be what Winston needs? Or has he messed up so much that things will never go his way?

Enough Secrets and Enough Time are the kind of stories that make you drop everything so that you can read them in a single sitting. You're so drawn to the characters and their story, that you hate to have to stop reading. You think about the characters and count down the time until you read more. I was completely blown away by Enough Secrets and Enough Time, my separate reviews follow.

Oh my gosh!!!! I thought Enough Secrets took me on a whirl wind of a ride...this fantastic book, GUTTED ME. Winston West, is an extremely complicated man, he's wounded, lost and in deep despair. You must, must, must read these books. I was transfixed by the emotion and depth depicted in this story, Amazing! Again, another story by Alexis Riddley I'll be reading again.

Oh my! If I thought the ending in the first one played me, I was wrong! The ending of this book astounded me and once again had me sobbing.

I gotta say when I started this book, I still wasn't sold on Winston. I didn't think he deserved to be happy but he managed to worm his way into my heart.

Kacie is nothing like Charlie, and for that I am glad. She is a strong independent woman who knows just what she wants from life.

Just like the first book, this one is fast paced and action packed and will leave you speechless and exasperated at times.

Take the time to fall in love with Winston, I promise you won't regret it!

Ohhhhh Charlie and Winston!
You'll love them. Their story is tortuous, beautiful, frustrating and sweet.
Winston is a dark, hidden, brooding and tortured man.
The way I saw it was, Winston saw himself as just a shell. Not alive. But not dead.
Without telling you to much it was a story with so much emotion that the pages practicing turned themselves. It was riveting and entertaining.
