After my mom remarried and moved away, texting with him every day makes me feel less lonely.
Talking to him is so easy. He just has this way of making me feel important and I feel like I can tell him anything.
The only problem is we haven't yet met face to face. There's always some emergency keeping him from meeting with me, some disaster that causes him to flake.
But tonight is the night. This is so going to happen.
I'm finally going to meet the man of my dreams and I won't let anyone or anything get in my way...
Not even my jerk of a stepbrother, Andrew, who seems determined to ruin my life.
I am done. I am so done with this book. I have so many issues it's not even funny. So this originally starts off with Hailey in her office pining for "AJ". However he stands her up and she's devastated. Go onto the next day, she receives a text to say he's sorry and to come over to his flat. "Which is super luxurious penthouse suite" how could anyone resist?
SO... this is where things just get so stupid. The apartment is PITCH black. And she calls out to him, no response. She messages him and his phone starts buzzing. He then mysteriously appears (this is all happening in the dark) they then kiss and then start to have sex. In the dark. Without knowing who the mysterious AJ is. It then comes to the morning and she realises to her horror that it's her stepbrother.
They then meet up, and when I say this I'm not lying. He literally MAKES her stay with him for a week or whatever. They then start whatever, it's not even a relationship they're just sleeping with each other. But obviously she has to become attached to an ego sensitive prick of a man. He treats her like shit, but everything's okay because he's rich and handsome. NO. JUST STOP!
He then has a girlfriend, who comes to his flat. YET SHE STILL STAYS WITH HIM. This is where my journey ends, I'm not about weak female characters or male characters who are dominant and selfish and think it's okay to treat women like shit.
The lead female role is like Bella Swan but a thousand times worse.
I'm done, I'm so done with this book. Absolute trash. I honestly hate giving reviews like this, but it honestly angered me so much.

Depending on how a character is written and the circumstances I can still read a book where either main MC is in another relationship. I don’t like knowing though in this book that the h most likely would have still ended up in bed with the H even knowing he had a girlfriend (something she herself admitted) I want my main characters to have enough morals and respect for themselves and others to not want to get involved with an attached person. This h was weak and not likeable for the reasons I stated.

I should have listened to my angel side when it said, "it's a stepbrother book, you'll hate it" rather than my devil side which said, "but it has catfish in the title and you love that show so you might like this."
As the title kind of gives away, Hailey is catfished by her step, Andrew. She's been talking to a guy she met online and we start the book the day she's supposed to meet AJ for the first time. And that's where the story falls apart.
Hailey is quite young, only 18 and is naive relative to relationships. Of course AJ stands her up but after an apology and her forgiveness (which I don't understand) she agrees to meet him at his apartment, where NONE OF IT MAKES SENSE. The apartment is dark and he keeps like that while he decides he's going to sleep with her first and turn the lights on later. And not once does she protest, or try to figure out who he is??? I might find it easier to believe if we knew if she had any sort of relationship with Andrew to begin with, but all of the stories that are relayed about this guy are that he's an a-hole... which makes me wonder what's up with this family to begin with.
Nothing in this book is appropriately fleshed out; I don't understand the relationship between Hailey and her mother, and her stepfather nor her stepbrother Andrew who seems to have a split personality. Andrew when he's the a-hole and AJ when he's the nice guy. I was getting whiplash.
He's a liar and manipulative; she's quite submissive in nature (although this never becomes a D/s kinda thing, so no worries there). But yet they somehow love each other... and he's not all that romantic.
I might have felt more for Hailey had I been privvy to the intricacies in her online relationship with AJ, instead I just felt sorry for her that she wasn't smarter about herself to not get in this mess in the first place.
Okay I'm Rereading this. It's pretty good. I don't even remember reading it the first time. That's the plus side of having seizures dealing with memory loss. But really seizures suck ass.
My goodness..the drama. It's like watching a soap opera. I feel like I just got off from a roller coaster. The Hero was a former manwhore before he's involved with the Heroine. And I'm not judging that. But the heroine annoyed the crap out of me. Always running from the Hero after she gives in a little too fast, IMO. Rinse, repeat. I even skimming the sex scenes because I'm just bored with it. The hero needs to grovel really bad. And I don't see that. I'm a bit disappointed because I kind of liked the story.

Lots of drama, it could have its very own episode in Days of Our Lives, if they haven't already featured anything already like it. That show has been around for as long as I have, I'm sure. Anyway, I loved it. I was skeptical as it all unraveled, but it kept me entangled through conclusion. May have a new favorite author to follow in my list. 🙃
I spend the whole book waiting for a normal, serious conversation in which he said something more than "Fuck", "I'm sorry", "I want you". I am still waiting for the conversation he promised after the restaurant. I kept waiting, it never came. Flat, boring, and just nonsense all together
Ugh, I had high hopes for this book because I love romances where the characters meet online. From the title of the book you already obviously know it’s gonna be the stepbrother. That didn’t bother me one bit, but instead of being this sweet “secretly in love with you” thing, the dude ended up being a huge jackass and the girl just takes it over and over.
“AJ” is the dude that Hailey’s been talking to for a few months and she’s finally going to meet him after work one day. She works at a firm with her stepfather and stepbrother, Andrew, and Andrew gives her a bunch of stuff to file right when she should be leaving for her date because he’s a dick and even makes a comment about how “it’s not like she has a date.” She’s a little late, AJ never shows, she waited for 2 hours for him. He never responded to her texts.
AJ apologizes and asks Hailey to come to his house to make it up to her and she agrees. She walks into his house, all the lights are off and it’s pitch black. She can’t see AJ but he starts kissing her as soon as she gets in the house. They end up having sex all the while it’s still dark and she can’t make out his face. He even says he loves her during sex.
The next morning she wakes up and sees it’s her stepbrother, Andrew. She freaks out and leaves. She thinks it’s Andrew tricking her because he’s a huge jackass to her already... he keeps saying he loves her and to let him explain but when she won’t answer him, he just proves he is a dick by saying that if she doesn’t talk to him he’s going to post all of the pictures she sent to him as “AJ” all over the Internet. Ha, real nice guy right there.
She meets him for lunch, he tells her she’s basically fired from their firm, but he’ll pay her to come stay with him for a week because “he can’t get her out of his head but after a week he’ll bore of her” but apparently he loved her a few days ago? This is ridiculous...
The dumb idiot Hailey agrees and goes to stay at his house. Then apparently one night his actual girlfriend Tiffany shows up and says she’s his fiancé and that Andrew always fucks around. Andrew doesn’t deny any of it. Hailey gets upset and leaves but eventually she ends up back at Andrew’s house after he apologizes and starts spouting off the “I love yous” again and she’s just a sucker for it. Then Tiffany shows up again saying she’s pregnant. After that then apparently Tiffany became “crazy” and everything she said wasn’t true....
The whole thing is a clusterfuck and what could’ve been a nice sweet story turned into some drama. Hailey should’ve had more respect for herself to let some asshole walk all over her and treat her that way. But she ignored it because she couldn’t “think straight” when she was around him.
Ugh, whatever. Glad I read it and got it over with.
I can see where readers think the heroine is a wuss and yhe hero is an a-hole. But i rather liked it.
I don't want to spoil it for you, buy the heroine is lonely, hasn't been in any relationships, and is over thr moon with AJ and having a hard time with her mother remarrying. Andrew, the hero and her step brother, picks on her. This story is from the heroines POV so we can guess at Andrews reactions.
I thought yhe heroine was lonely but had a lot of insecurities like some women can have when they are relationship shy. She wanted to take a chance for her HEA but she also does not want to be a fool and keep making the same mistakes. She does not have a bestie she can talk about this so it's how she figures everything out. Andrew is rich and he wants our heroine but he yhinks he cannot have her and he does what he thinks will draw her attention yo him and also draw her out of her shell (yhis is my personal oppinion).
Buy i think you should give this book a chance. There's a reason why we have so many genres.
Hero: was a lying, cheating bastard who manipulates and verbally abuses the heroine. He also sleeps with half of the women population at the same time he was courting the heroine. A real POS.
Heroine: was a dumb, dick-whipped loser with no pride nor brain. She was so quick to forgive and bang the hero, she was even contemplating sleeping with him even if he said he already has a girlfriend. A disgrace to womankind.
Hero said he never had a serious girlfriend, but keep a woman's product that he didn't bother to take it off his shelf and gets upset when the heroine uses them. Fishy. He claimed his ex-girlfriend/self-claimed fiancée/baby's momma was the crazy other woman, but didn't bother using his security to remove her even though he's living in a penthouse and has money and power to do so. Fishy. He said he wanted to talk and explain, but he never do. I feel like it's not just the heroine, even the readers are being gaslighted.
There was a lot of 'holes' in the story and since there was only the heroine's POV and she was too dick-whipped to have a proper conversation with the hero, most of them are just left unexplained.
If you pile all the shit the hero has done, him being her STEPBROTHER would be the least of your concern lol.
This book is a little over the top for me. It had great potential but fell in the exaggeration grammar used. I felt the heroine was sometimes a little annoying. You have the heroine working for the her step brother who can be a major jerk. The book was very obvious that I got bored. not for me.
Incredible story of how a catfish could turn i to the love of your life. Which I never thought could happen! Read and find out. Smoking hot scenes between Hailey and Andrew. Through in a crazy female and you have a winner
I really enjoyed this book. Hailey and Andrew/AJ have such a love/hate relationship, it keeps you on your toes as to how the story will go. I recommend it.
Hot and exciting, quiet Hailey is putting in time at her stepfather business so she can open her own bakery. She starts chatting online with a man named AJ. They finally decide to meet up and things go south. He apologizes and they make plans to meet up. The chemistry is off the charts when they are both around each other. But what happens when Hailey finds out the truth of who AJ really is. Awesome read.
The guy was a serious jerk but by the end he turned into a serious sweetie. Lots of drama and crying and toss a psycho in just for good measure. All the makings of a great story
