This volume collects the first four issues of Colleen Coover's smash hit comic, Small Favors. Fun girl on girl loveplay. Also includes many sketches and drawings that were not in the original comic book series. A porno comic for girls (and guys too). ADULTS ONLY
Colleen Coover is an Eisner Award-winning comic book artist based in Portland, Oregon. Her comics include the adult title Small Favors and the all-ages Banana Sunday. Small Favors, originally printed by the Eros imprint of Fantagraphics Books, has now been reprinted in its entirety by Limerence Press.
Author: I wanted to write a WLW erotica comic that goes beyond what we see in porn because sapphics are not well represented. Also the author: *uses the same predatory-weird scenarios as a baseline for the rest of the story, all of which we can find in men-directed and men-aimed lesbian porn*
i'm not going to rate this because i'm always conflicted about what rating to give graphic novels and this was basically porn (which i shouldn't be surprised at because it literally says it in the synopsis, but still). the characters were still really cute and funny, but also some of the things they were doing had me jake gyllenhaaling my eyeballs.
I'd never seen cutesy erotica before someone handed me this, over a decade ago. I reread it this year and I really should write an actual review... but in the meantime, it has cute ladies being naked with each other, one of whom is a fairy who can change her size.
First Eros Comix Edition = July 2002 ->Nibbel face sketch with autograph on all title pages
It's IMPOSSIBLE for a sexually liberated person to deny the importance of books such as these- this is the type of fair fare that must be aired -proud to be stripped bare- and only ignored if it lacks compare to one's personal flair!
Surely Coover could have aimed for "erotic literature" but I'm glad she didn't. This fills an important sensual necessity of humanity that remains somewhat gaping due to the "puritanism" that still jails most readers of English in its prison- despite the strides that now keep "serious" erotic storytelling from being denied.
The eroticarena that includes this wonderfully unabashed "girly-porno" begets the oft-ignored effervescence of sex- the need for sexuality to be unencumbered with (serious) conflict and the strictness of edict.
It is of much higher importance that our desires be seen as approachable- "literary" examination of those complicated and/or painful facets must be only a PART of the exploration to be better enjoyed in perspective.
The frivolous and sometimes superciliousness silliness that this emits in hysterical fits with its repetitious friction of hips, tits, nips, lips, slits and slippery clits is simply marvelous! The goofy dialogue is requisite within the atmosphere in which Coover smoothly maneuvers and she is worthy of award when she steers the plot towards requisite preposterousness!
"So I masturbate a little..."
"A little?! These photos were all taken on the same day!!"
This is, without question, the cutest porn you'll ever find. Make no mistake, this is porn. It's about two women having lots and lots of sex with each other. But it's also really cute and fun and funny. It's porn, but it's not at all exploitative or anything like that. The characters are fun, and the scenarios are amusing. It's arguably more entertaining seeing what leads to the sex than it is to see the sex itself. And the relationship between the two characters is the real heart of the story. Also, Coover's art is so wonderful. It's a cute, expressive style. This book came a little earlier in her career, so it's not as great as her more recent work on books like Bandette or Gingerbread Girl, but it's still got a lot of the fun energy that defines her style.
If you don't like reading comics full of sex, this might not be for you. If you have no problem reading comics full of sex, then this is one of the best porn comics, and well worth checking out.
The most adorable little lesbian porn book I ever did read. Colleen Coover is great. Highly recommended to those that want to read a book like this. You know who you are.
I was curious about this, having read some of Coover's other work. And I would say it's fine. Kind of slight, with a fair number of the women being portrayed as rather ditzy, and the body types are a bit samey, but it's got a light charm and humour to it, so that it's sexy rather than sleezy.
We need more erotica that depicts loving sex without any of the shame or guilt usually attached to it and this gives that and does not deal with any misogynistic and homophobic ideologies. It's also just absolutely adorable,, which is weird to say given the context but yeah
A cute, funny, sexy, hot and odd lesbian porn comic book from a female point of view. It's not necessarily something for everyone, but still an interesting read. :-) 3.5 stars.
