This story was a love-hate for me. I loved Rob and Cynthia and the way they were together, but more than occasionally it felt like the author was just grabbing old world phrases and words out of nowhere. "I've not..." Rather than the more commonly spoken "I haven't...". And the word 'climax' used in bed scenes. Ugh. Can I just say UGH. I haven't heard a man once, ever, use the word 'climax' between the sheets. Not in any other books, or movies, or in real life. Me personally I think I'd laugh myself to tears in the case of the latter. It felt like she was trying to inject a bit of the 19th century into present day without making it an alternate universe of any kind. Not only that but the 'love scenes' seemed almost like they were written by someone who didn't really want to write a love scene. The focus was in all the wrong places more often than not, drug on and on in the WAY wrong places and clipped and cut short what ought to have been emphasized for an erotic genre book. It just didn't flow right.
But, onto the love bit. Rob and Cynthia (or Sam, whatever floats your boat) were so sweet together. Both so afraid to get hurt that they wound up hurting each other, only to come back years later to try again. And little Isabella. I have two kids so I don't think I need to state how touching it was that Rob wanted so badly to be a part of her life and really be her Dad. My dad always told me 'To be a father takes 5 minutes, to be a Daddy takes a lifetime' and Rob wanted to be 'Daddy'. So sweet.
So, in short: the wordage, and the writing itself to an extent, were lacking and because of it I wasn't able to fully enjoy this book. But that's the opinion of a stay-at-home mother at the age of 23. Some people might be able to get past it, but I just kept picturing actually hearing the wording that irked me out loud and that ship just never sailed for me. Which sucked because I loved this premise and the characters.
Twice Tempted is the first book I’ve read by this author, but the second I finished I snatched up Tempted by Trouble too. Rob—I don’t know where to start with this panty melter—he reminded me a little of Charlie Harper to begin with (but a much sexier and nicer version). He has a beach house, a job as a freelance photographer and when we first meet him he’s a bit of a player. However, as time goes on and the story progresses he matures, cleans his act up and just becomes perfect. It was literally too much. I was drooling at the start when he had flaws but holy hell did he have me infatuated when he was the older, more mature Rob.
Cynthia was a little naive to begin with, but with a father like hers she immediately had my back up. She was such a lovely character, I almost felt happy she had Rob (but also was very very jealous hehe). Her side of the story tugged at my heart strings and got a tear or two along the way. By half way through I was praying for a miracle to happen just to make her life better, poor soul suffered so much, and it did. The best kind, until Rob comes back and turns her life upside down again.
Twice Tempted was also smokin’ hot, and it really drew out the characters with its whirlwind of intense emotions. I would highly recommend to everyone and anyone who loves romance. The story is fast paced, highly emotive and takes you on a steamy journey, even though tissues are required. Go on, grab it now. You’ll love it!
I stumbled on this book & author by chance. The blurb sounded interesting and because it had my guilty pleasure - secret babies - I just had to give it a go.
I really enjoyed the book, it's a quick read with a very satisfying ending. The characters are likeable and you really feel for Sam/Cynthia especially when someone close to her dies. Rob was your typical bad boy - worked hard, and played harder. i loved how he was bowled over by Sam/Cyn at first sight. However it was just the wrong time for them initially and he chicken out and walked away. I could have hit him for that. Haha!!
Overall, an enjoyable read, however, there was pacing issues with it. The beginning seemed to drag on and the ending seemed rushed. Regardless though, I will definitely check out the next book in the series.
Read on Radish under the title Losing You (2 seasons). Excellent story. I felt their emotions. Glad they finally worked through their issues to end the push/pull and set boundaries.
I really enjoyed 'Tempted by Trouble' by Susan Arden and even though 'Twice Tempted' is the second in the 'Bad Boys Don't Drink The Water' series, chronologically it occurs first. This is a secret baby story with lots of originality. Cynthia (Sam's) baby is secret from the father after an erotic one night but also from Cynthia's father whose domineering ways she is determined to escape. The story is told in two halves. Cynthia and Rob first meet when she becomes the newest Vice President of her father's international travel company. Despite her mature business head Cynthia is an emotional novice and is totally blown away by Rob's sophistication and bad boy persona. A series of life events and misunderstandings ensure Cynthia and Rob's encounter is a one off. Part two of the story takes place four years later when Rob and Cynthia meet unexpectedly and Rob's discovers Cynthia or Sam's as he calls her devastating secret. This is a story full of emotion, interesting and easy to read. The conflict increases with each page turned and leaves you drained. Well written erotic romantic scenes and a happy ever after which hangs in the balance until the end, make this a worthwhile read. I would recommend this to lovers of well written emotional, erotic romance. Susan Arden
We'll this book... I don't want to say I was disappointed... But in some cases I was. I think it was because I wasn't expecting the book to start right from their first meeting. I was expecting that to be the prologue or something then Rob finding out his a dad, would be the present time. So for it to start from the beginning then skip 4 years was quite annoying.
I thought Isabelle was so cute. Sometimes she didn't seem like a child her age to me. I had to keep reminding myself that it was a 3 year old girl speaking not 10 or older.
I thought the argument between Rob and Sam was stupid. It was unneeded. Rob blew it out of proportion. That could have been sorted right then and there. Especially as Sam admitted that she was wrong and it was Rob that said he would get a attorney first so what did he expect? Her to say that's fine and watch him take away her child.
I think the ending was so rushed. It was probably because the author tried to write the beginning of their relationship as well. I just didn't want to read it because I didn't like the ending at all.
I'm happy that Sam and her father made up. It was cute. And was probably the only part I liked of the ending.
I really enjoyed reading Twice Tempted (Bad Boys Book 2), all about Cynthia Cainwright is the new VP of World Travels & Rob Graham who is the photographer for the entire company. Cynthia works for her dad, and she's being groomed to take over this business in the near/ distant future. Rob was asked to come in and photograph Sam aka Cynthia the boss's daughter. The author wrote a very interesting story and the characters bring the story to life. It's about two people from very different places in society that come together explosively and the walk away. Both regret the decision but neither correct it, until four years later when they run into each other literally while doing an interview! Read this book it will make you laugh, cry, sigh, shake your head and cum up a storm! I hope you enjoy reading it, as much as I enjoyed reading it.
Even though Twice Tempted is second in the series its First in the timeline...This is Sam (Cynthia) and Rob's story, which we met in the beginning of Tempted by Trouble. Sam is a photographer who mainly does locaiton shoots and not portraits, gets hired for a hush-hush session with up and coming VP of World Travel, Sam. From the moment they unknowingly cross paths, its heat, smoldering hot, combustion on the pages.
Its an incredible and emotional journey of Sam and Rob finding love, not once, twice!
Can't wait to continue with Ms. Arden's other stories!! They are HOT!!!
The book is technically well executed and grammatically correct, but the style is stiff, over-the-top and cheesy.
I enjoyed the book, but rolled my eyes a lot throughout. They story has lots of potential, and there is heat between the characters, but the wacky Harlequin-style vocabulary really gets in the way.
I've got a couple more in the series and I'm hoping the author's style has matured and moved to a more modern format as the series progresses.
If you like the grand, old-fashioned Harlequin-style romance with a lot more sizzle, this one's for you.
I've never wanted to hurt any of my characters as much as Cynthia "Sam". Most unreasonable heroine of all times. I think what kept me going was the storyline but seeing it delivered at snail pace and me disliking the characters just made reading the book more challenging. 1 star for storyline in which is a favorite for me. 1 star for the potential it had. The first 50% was spent on 2 weeks of the plot. -.-
Timing is everything, whether it's good timing or bad. Cynthia (Sam) and Rob are wildly attracted to each other, but both are terribly insecure with their feelings and decide that avoiding the other person would be the best way to go forth. It's not until several years later that they learn just what they've given up.
I liked it, but I didn't love it. I didn't feel connected to the characters, too much was missing. It was well written and I will probably read more of the series. I was expecting a bit more for a second chance romance. They really only had one evening together as a family and then bam! Mom and Dad are together.
lovers unite then part...but a child results. 4 years later the father gets a surprise when he meets the child and her mother unexpectedly. he wants to be a part of his child's life but his past loverr isn't crazy about sharing the child. then they fall in love and all ends happily.
