Though the attraction between them is too powerful to ignore, Darcy soon faces a problem that may prove insoluble....
Her best friend is embroiled in a bitter custody battle -- and the lawyer representing her ruthless ex-husband is none other than Seth. With her loyalties torn between her friend and the man she is rapidly coming to love, Darcy knows she will have to make a choice that could change her life forever. Unless she can learn to trust Seth with all her heart... and unless he can prove to her that the only thing that matters is a love that lasts forever....

This was hard to get in to. Nothing exciting about the beginning.
A pet peeve of mine is super long excerpts for more books in the end. The book ended at 79% because of the other stuff at the end. I was thinking the ending would be longer because of the % remaining. A little disappointing.
Hard to get into at first. Some of the wording, and expressions used, made the characters sound older at times (to me). I am the same age as the main character but some of the things she says in the book sound like something that would come out of my moms mouth. But overall the story was good. I don't regret reading it. Good book.
I really did like this story. It had a lot of potential, it just didn’t grab me and it’s one of those reads that I can’t really put my finger on why.
Darcy was a strong female MC. She knew what she wanted, she had principles and stuck to them and she was a loyal friend. Seth was determined to win Darcy over, but not enough to commit. His pain was deeper than Darcy’s because his was engrained in him from childhood. His profession had him dealing with divorced couples almost exclusively so I can see why he was so jaded as far as HEAs were concerned.
Maybe it is because I don’t read a lot of contemporary romances or maybe it is because I didn’t connect with the situation that the characters were put in. For whatever reason, I just didn’t ‘feel’ as much as I thought I should. It was still an entertaining read and readers who enjoy contemporary romance will probably enjoy it.
I found this book to be a great easy read. The narrative flow was good and the emotions were real. In fact it was such an easy read I finished it in a day. It was not hard to get into like others have said, at least for this reader. Now it is nothing earth shattering just a chick lit, beach read.
I only gave it 4 stars because as another reviewer pointed out the book ended with about 78% remaining via the Kindle. The rest was taken up by the publisher trying to sell another book which I find irritating.
I enjoyed this book. Unlike many others, I do not think the story took too long to develop or dragged. I think the author's goal was to have the reader get to know the main characters better through their conversations and interactions.
