The Dead Squirrel
One of Mac’s neighbours discovers that a squirrel found dead in her garden has been poisoned. A short while afterwards he learns that a woman has also been found, murdered by the same exotic poison, and the investigation kicks off. Mac helps the local police investigate a cold-blooded murder and the members of a local Jane Austen society are all suspects. The investigation, however, turns up something quite unexpected and shocking.

I have the same problems with pain as my main character and so the Mac Maguire detective mysteries were born out of a need to be doing something that wasn't a spread sheet at the weekends. However even I've been surprised at how my main character, Mac Maguire, has taken on a life of his own and I now see myself as being Mac's biographer rather than his inventor.
I've had many professions and started off as a musician. I played guitar professionally for some years before forming my own band and songwriting team. However, in my late thirties I concluded that I was probably not going to be a rock star anytime soon and so became a quality professional in the automotive industry. In trying to place quality systems online I became interested in websites and information architecture and eventually got invited to apply for a job at the BBC where I worked as a business analyst for Radio and Music. I am now retired and writing full-time.

Fun Enjoyable Mystery
I won book one on Goodreads which made me want to read the entire series, so I bought them all. I love the main character and there are many great characters in this book! It's a fast fun read. I'm ready for Book three.

Excellent Story, Horrible Proofreading
This is the second book in the series that I’ve read. I have thoroughly enjoyed the stories, as the characters are well done, and the plots intriguing. But as a few other reviewers have noted, it’s as though no one did any proofreading.
There are several sentence fragments that appear as though he rewrote the sentence, but forgot to delete the bits he wanted to change. Many incorrect words that while spelled correctly, are clearly not what he intended. It’s almost as if he typed portions of the book on his iPhone and autocorrect ran amok! It’s a shame, because it truly detracted at times from the storytelling.
I’m going to continue reading the series, as I’ve really taken a liking to Mac. I’m just hoping that the previous reviews were read by the author and utilized constructively. Some reviews were pretty harsh, and therefore might not have been taken as constructive criticism. They came across as being written out of meanness, rather than sincere attempts to help. I hope this doesn’t come across the same way. My intent isn’t to degrade or beat the writer down, just simply inform him where improvements can be made.

When you do bad things that harm others, they should be held accountable. But unfortunately we have laws that must be followed and evidence collected before it can come before a judge. The unfortunate part is that criminals get off more often than a victims family would like. One person decides he will make the world a happier place by murdering people who have slipped though the jaws of justice. Good storyline and enjoy the characters.

This is the second book in a series. I won the first one and enjoyed it enough that I bought this one. It is another fun procedural with a twist. Likable characters, an interesting story that kept my attention. Quick, easy read. One suggestion, get a good proofreader, like the first book, lots of errors.

Another great story
This man is so good as a writer he gets you hooked on the first chapter. His lines of dialogue and interaction with characters, make his stories come alive, and his locations and descriptions spot on. Read it in one go. Reading the next one now.
