Perfect ending to Jasper & Charlotte's story.

It dragged a bit in the middle - nothing happened and redundant stuff was added, like the boat trip et cetera. The whole amazing excitement of the first book was a bit lost in this second one.
BUT I still loved it!

Can't wait to read whatever Kim will come up with next ☺

At first, I was so put off by the few typos and grammatical errors in the first few chapters. This is published, I was confused as I thought I was reading an ARC for a moment. Lol But once you can push past that, the book is actually good. Had some decent suspenseful moments but some AWW moments as well. Lots and lots of spicy moments too! 🌶🥵 Overall this was great, I didn't even realize it was #2 of the series as I read it like a standalone. Lol

Whew! After a cliffhanger like Set the Pace left us with, I was salivating to get my little hands on Turn it Up. Have you seen this cover? I mean, as unnatural as it is to just stand by a car and put your t-shirt in your mouth to show your abs, I'll take it. I'll pay him to do so just to look at him. Next to his car. Doing that weird thing with his shirt. The model or Jasper, either one.

Please note: you MUST read Set the Pace before you read this. There isn't even a lead in where it helps you along. There is a large, overarching mystery in the duet that is being solved by the two (and supporting) characters. While it is briefly reviewed what happens in the first book, you won't really 100% understand.

When we left our two lovers, Jasper was getting arrested for the murders of Tory and Eve and Charlotte had just gotten attacked in her apartment, nearly killed. And we pick up right where we left off. Jasper is in temporary lock up, having PTSD-type flash backs to his days in Juvie, awaiting a bail hearing and Charlotte is in the hospital from her attack. A LOT goes down in the very beginning of the novel. Charlotte names her attacker, he gets arrested, and she essentially stays in Jasper's apartment because she no longer feels safe in hers while she waits to hear what will happen to Jasper.

After the fast-paced beginning, we float along a little, aimlessly. We get a lot of really nice, steamy love scenes between the two. And their love is really building. A really sturdy foundation is being built for a solid life for the two of them. However, none of the mystery of the fire is really discussed. The boys (Jasper and the rest of the Lightening Motors crew) are dealing with the purchase of the land and the attacks on the company coming from an outside unidentified source.

The action really starts to pick up when you hit 60% in the book. It was so hard to put down, I didn't! We have 2 big mysteries to solve: what happened 20 years ago with the company and who is messing with Lightening Motors now. And I have to say that both were solved perfectly for me. I was left very satisfied. Even the characters made peace with parents, secondary characters as well. I hope they get books as well. Maybe Jake? I feel like there was so much story on him, he really needs one. That would be an interesting book.

Overall I would give this between 4-4.5 stars. The beginning was a little slow for me, but the second 1/2 really took off. I really loved the character development of Charlotte and Jake, in particular. I know that Jasper does some changing, but Charlotte was more noteworthy.

These books are worth the read! Pick them up!

This is a story about childhood friends who reconnect as adults and fall in love but it is so much more than that. There is also a lot of suspense and mystery weaved throughout this story.

I have been eagerly awaiting the conclusion to Jasper & Charlotte’s story. This dives straight back into where we were left at the end of Set The Pace and you will need to make sure that your seatbelts are tight as Kim takes us on the final tumultuous leg of this journey.

I was completely invested in Charlotte & Jasper’s romance but I was also trying to figure out the ‘who dunnit’ mystery aspect as well. This book garnered all of my attention as I immersed myself into the corrupt world of Detroit. As expected, there are a lot of secrets from the past that finally come to light and some unexpected allies that I mistakenly thought were baddies!

Charlotte and Jasper's connection grows the more they are together, they also take very individual journey's dealing with their past and effectively freeing themselves to move forward as a couple with all of that left behind in the dust.

'My whole world is right when I am with him, no matter how wrong parts of it are' - Charlotte

I really loved how we got to see more of Jake, Drew & Will and the history of their friendship's with Jasper. Great conclusion to an exciting series.

Turn It Up by Kim Karr
5 I’LL NEVER FORGET YOU STARS!!!

Turn It Up is the second book in The Detroit Love Duet and WHOA!!! WHAT A RIDE!!!! Let me tell you I’ve been DYING. DY-ING since I finished book one, Set The Pace. No lie. That ending! Whoa. It was torturous! Kim Karr left me balancing on the edge of a cliff....I thought I may jump just to end my misery. I could not stop thinking about it!!! So, needless to say, I have been anticipating the conclusion to Jasper and Charlotte’s love story, and wow!! What a conclusion it was!! I was NOT disappointed!!!

I loved this book and everything about it! It was sexy, suspenseful and sinfully delish! It was dramatic, mysterious, fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. CONSTANTLY. It was also fun, beautiful and super sweet! Could Jasper and Charlotte BE any more adorable?! Their romance is seriously epic.

I could NOT get enough of these two. Jasper is hot, sexy and sweet. And JFC the dirty things that come out of his mouth had me wanting to race to the bedroom to have some alone time....I felt like I experienced a sexual storm of lust every time I saw him. His words had my body vibrating with need. The things he says, the things he THINKS when it comes to the love of his life, Charlotte. Ahhhh!!! I could go on and on an on...But he’s more than that. He’s loyal beyond belief and truly a beautiful soul. I need a Jasper Storm in my life! Charlotte? LOVE. HER. She’s endured so damn much. And through the it all, she helped open Jasper’s heart. They healed each other. She’s an amazing soul, an angel. Together they made my heart melt and set my blood on fire! Can you tell?!

Bromance. It seriously is one of my favourite things to read in a book! I FLOVE Jasper and the guys! The banter between these good friends was priceless! I really hope we get to see more of these men!

Turn It Up was a fantastic romantic suspense that will have your heart racing, pounding and gushing! You will smile. You will swoon. You will DIE all of the deads! And you will LOVE it! I never wanted this story to end! Jasper and Charlotte tilted my world in all of the best ways possible! I am so thrilled and honoured that I went on this love adventure with them! Their romance....it just feels right <3 Now and forever!

I wasn’t too worried at the end of Set the Pace about Jasper being charged with murder because I knew Jasper’s team would work together to prove his innocence. What I was worried about was what this new roadblock was going to do to his relationship with Charlotte and the connection they’ve been building once both of them tore down each other’s walls and moved past the pain and heartache from their childhood.

Charlotte is not as fragile as people think she is, and although she feels like the Black Sheep of Detroit as long as Jasper believes in her and doesn’t leave her or forget about her, she’s strong enough to bring her light to his darkness and belong to not only Jasper but also fit in with his partners/best friends. Charlotte stands strong in Turn It Up despite her fears and even though it takes some time for her to give her whole self to Jasper, she knows she’ll never want anyone else because not only does he set her body on fire, but he also knows how to soothe her soul.

Jasper has had to deal with a whirlwind of emotions since Charlotte’s return to town as well as the scare tactics and issues standing in his way from bringing Detroit’s car industry back to life. He’s faced with a bevy of uncontrollable situations, and his first reaction is to shut everyone out, but those who love him most refuse to allow him to go through anything alone, so the support he receives and the love and comfort Charlotte gives to him is enough for him to fight and prove to himself, his past, and the naysayers that he’s finally found a place where he belongs and it’s by Charlotte’s side and in a city that he still loves and wants to rebuild even though it never truly made him feel welcomed or wanted.

I really enjoyed the follow up to Set the Pace! It had a great blend of steam and suspense. But, to me, despite the mystery that needs to be solved in order to clear Jasper's name and prevent anymore mishaps from occurring in order to get the automobile plant up and running, the story is more about Charlotte and Jasper no longer feeling like outsiders...no longer feeling unloved or unwanted. It's about them finding their place in each other's lives...the place they've actually always had.

4.5 Stars!!

“Quickly. I wanted quickly more than I wanted air to breathe. I need to see Charlotte. Get to her. Hold her. Touch her. Protect her. Make love to her. It has yet to happen. And it’s all I’ve been able to think about.”

What a thrilling and exciting follow up to Set The Pace! Turn It Up picks up right where the last book left off and boy does it take you on one crazy ride. There’s danger. Action. Suspense. Romance. Sexy Good Times. And lots of delicious twists and turns.

Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I have been dying and I mean dying to get my hands on this book. When we last left Jasper and Charlotte, we were given one crazy cliffhanger. And I have been just dying to see how it would all turn out. And I gotta tell you, for me, it was worth the wait.

From the moment I picked up Turn It Up, I was hooked. I couldn’t read through the pages quick enough. I had to know what was going to happen next. I had to know if Jasper and Charlotte were going to get their HEA that they deserved. And I gotta tell you, there story does not disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and the twists had me holding my breath. I loved Jasper and Charlotte. They are just impossible to not love. They are so easy to connect with and to understand. The connection these two have is absolutely amazing. There love is so strong. There was nothing that these two could not get through, as long as they were together. It was such a joy to watch their story play out. It made me laugh. It made me swoon. And at times, I was left with a ridiculous smile on my face. And I gotta tell you, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Turn It Up gave me everything I could have wanted and more. I loved the twists. I loved getting all my questions answered. I enjoyed trying to figure everything out. But, most of all, I really enjoyed falling in love with Charlotte and Jasper.

I haven't read anything by Kim Karr I haven't liked and this duet is no different there is some serious intense moments and of course some steamy scenes..There is also some mystery and although my assumption where correct I wasn't 100% with my theory because of course there was so many possibilities and plot twists..there is so many ups and downs and so much deceit but also so many strong bonds.. altogether I really enjoyed

Turn it Up seamlessly picks up where Set the Pace left off. Continuing to be fuelled by adrenaline, there is no slowing down for Jasper, Charlotte and the Lightning Motors crew. As Detroit’s history merges with the possibilities for the future, readers witness a love story that is so much bigger than the connection between Charlotte and Jasper. With each chapter revealing another secret, the road to Happy Ever After is surprising, painful, yet beautifully redeeming.

Whilst Set the Pace focuses on the background of the main characters, Turn it Up allows you to indulge in their passion, chemistry and love. Kim Karr continues to showcase the glorious feelings that come along with a new and flourishing love. Keeping readers intrigued and captivated in the different layers that make up the Detroit Love Duet. Weaving the two plots perfectly Kim Karr balances the suspense, the secrets, the swoon and the sex perfectly.

Throwing in a few surprises and unraveling copious amounts of mysteries, Turn it Up maintains the speed of Set the Pace. Continuing to be told in dual perspectives, readers are able to see the different tone, maturity and thought process Karr has given her main characters. As the secondary characters maintain their importance in this series, it is inevitable that pieces of your heart will be divvied up between all the Motor City Lovers.

True to her nature Kim Karr’s latest series shows readers how she can successfully change up the second chance romance trope, as well as wholeheartedly delve into worlds that are unknown or foreign. From the music scene, to the club scene, to wars of the underground, The Detroit Love Duet; its wonders and it woes are just another reason that Kim Karr is always on my radar.

This, was one book that I couldn't wait to read, especially because of the way book one ended. It even begins exactly where the first book left us and even though some time has passed, I quickly caught up with what happened.

One thing that was clear to me pretty early on in this book was how Charlotte and Jasper's chemistry was just as insanely electric, if not more so than I recall. I really did enjoy scenes with these two.

What did puzzle me however, was that I did have some difficulty connecting with the secondary characters. I felt this was such a shame because it is possible that there could some build up to future books with them being the main characters. I don't know whether it was maybe down to the fact that certain characters who were under my suspicion in book one, turned out to be perfectly innocent and therefore maybe some of the excitement was lacking in this book.

The actually story involving Lightening Motors did drag somewhat and in the end got a little hard to follow, but there was enough in this book to keep me glued and I especially enjoyed the fact that it all revolves around the financial downturn of the city and the consequences and whilst it's not a completely accurate depiction of what happened, it does allow the reader to get a feel of what it must have been like.

Overall it was a good read, maybe not as great as the first book, but worth a read even if just to experience how amazing Charlotte and Jasper are together.

Great conclusion to a two part story

Note: Set the pace to be read first

Crime, corruption, Capital and cars this was Jasper's life, wrapped up in murders unsolved.

Charlotte was the girl next door who became more.

Great characters, a murder to be solved the plot was intense, hot and filled with mystery that Kim Karr delivered with style.

Jasper: She's my Angel. My Angel. Sent to save me from myself. I love this girl. I am in love with Charlotte Lane the girl from next door.

Charlotte: Who Knew beneath the boy from next door made of trouble with a capital T, there was a romantic?

My Man who walks fast, talks fast, drives fast and fucks fast. All speed and hard edges with the softest of hearts.

This girl definitely tamed this man and I had a blast reading it with all the angst and drama that went along with it.

Another great read from Kim karr and a great conclusion.

Title: Set the Pace (The Detroit Love Duet, #2)
Author: Kim Karr

No cliffhanger/Standalone

Kim Karr turned up the heat and suspense in the highly anticipated follow up to Set the Pace. The dramatic conclusion was everything I thought it would be. This friends-to-lovers romantic suspense has a multi-layered plot that unraveled to answer all of the questions from book one. It was loaded with more twists and turns and a whole lot of sexy! Great two book series!

***MUST READ Set the Pace 1st in order to read this book!!!***

Okay so this book "TURNED IT UP" right where it left off in book#1 which was a cliffy of all cliffys!

Yes I patiently waited like everyone and had my predictions of what I thought was going to happen and....

damn did +Author Kim Karr  deliver with this conclusion to this epic series!

I love her books because she knows how to give us enough suspense, romance, smut, and well developed characters that entrap us into their world.

I really enjoyed finding out the fate of Jasper and how it would affect his relationship with Charlotte.

Boy did this book having me biting my nails with all the twist and turns of what was going on with the mystery of "who did it & why?"

Charlotte showed how much stronger she was in this book.  She surprised me with her determination to make Jasper see what she has always seen in him since they were children.

Jasper grabbed my heart even more in this book.  Totally a broken soul who we see grow into his own and make decisions that will determine his future with Charlotte.

Great ending.....

The whole duet was great, this second part was Uber romance. I loved every second of it.

Short review, since it’s truly a mystery romance, but who I thought it was, was. Score one for me, lol. A great epilogue. I’m a sucker for an amazing epilogue.

Great duet read. Now I need to find Jake, Drew and Wills stories if theyre out there somewhere. If not, pretty please?

"She's all bright light, and I'm all darkness. She's an angel, and I'm the devil she doesn't need to get in bed with."

Utterly exhausted from what this poor couple was dragged through in the first book, the Author ups the ante...whew!! But if at all possible, the couple gets hotter, and I became more engrossed in their story. Just when you thought you figured it out, it twisted in another direction and I couldn't get enough. The ending was adorable, and I couldn't have asked for a better journey for these characters, it was a wild ride!!

"All speed and hard edges...with the softest of hearts."

A fitting ending to the series

It's here. The 2nd part to the book Set The Pace by Kim Karr.

At the end of the first book, we witnessed Jasper being handcuffed and taken to jail. While Charlotte's situation is more nerve-wracking. Someone is in her apartment and apparently beat her to hell. Jake is there too but since the door is locked he is unable to help Caroline.

The second book starts with Jasper in court and Charlotte in a hospital. Yes, she was saved. We can't let her die because then where would the story be. There are about 3 chapters (more or less) that talks Jasper in jail then on a trial and Charlotte staying in the hospital then getting better. And my mind is racing, thinking the the whole book better not be about this. Jasper and Charlotte not seeing each other. That would drove me mad. Good thing it didn't happen.

Jasper's mom is there when Charlotte was in the hospital and pretty much throughout the whole book. It doesn't surprise me or a bit seeing as how Jasper portrayed her a fragile person, never wishing to be involved in her son's mess or Hank's matter. But the chapter in Charlotte's POV where the two women talked and Mrs. Storm was able to say what she really feels and what she thinks it made me see her in another light. She is not what Jasper thinks she is.

Then something or someone happened that freed Jasper from prison. And the series of events. Like with Will's mother and then Jake's father and Drew's father. It's one misfortune to another. Or maybe it is still of the sabotage to Lightning Motors.

But there are good things too. Jake and the new girl. Will and Whitney (despite a slight bump in the road). Unfortunately, Drew doesn't have a girlfriend or a girl which makes him stumble and blush. Then there's Alex and what he's been doing for Jasper. The box Adam Lane left in Mackinac Island. And one good news on the last couple chapters.

Hank Harper. I won't spill anything about this character even if I dearly love to give some spoiler but he did something, that's all I can say. I didn't even blink in surprise. I had a gut instinct about him.

Anyway, all is well at the last few chapters to the ending. But the epilogue. Gah! The epilogue is so sweet and it really feels like a happily ever after.

I wonder if there'll be a book for Drew, Will, and Jake. I wouldn't mind reading it.

Following on from the explosive cliffhanger in the first book we are once again thrown straight into the drama, lies, murder, betrayal, love and friendship that fills this little town and the lives of the people who live there, along with following the blossoming and intense romance of Jasper and Charlotte.

"I know it with a certainty that grips and twists my heart until it’s ripped from my chest. That chokes my throat with a panic like I’ve never felt before. That makes my skin burn with knowing dread. This time, I’m not going to get out."

This was just as thrilling and exciting as the first read. We were left on such a cliffhanger that I was desperate to dive right into this and find out what the hell was going on?! Was Jasper going to stay in prison? Who really committees the murders? Was there more to come.... All these questions and more, I was desperate to find the answers to.

"I’ve grown into a woman I am secure to be. Because of him. I’ve accepted my past. Because of him. I’ve found love in him. Because of him."

Jasper and Charlotte were the same destined to be couple as they were in the first. They so deserved their HEA and to finally get some peace rather than drama. Jasper was so strong willed and determined to be with Charlotte. He was protective, caring and wouldn't let anything bad touch her. Charlotte was kind and sweet but was still strong and determined to stand on her own two feet no matter how many things tried to knock her down.

"...all I see when I look at her is the little girl who lived next door to me with the shining blue eyes the color of the summer sky and mounds of curly blond hair, who called me JJ."

The plot was thrilling and intense. We really are thrown straight back in and from then on we don't get w chance to catch our breathe. The murders and betrayal, the lies and the past; all keep us guessing and questioning what is going on and who is doing these awful things. At the same time we follow Jasper and Charlottes relationship while they are battling their way through all this drama. It's an intense, sweet and sexy love and we really get swept up in it.

"Sweet, sexy Charlotte—a kitten and a lion. Mounds of dirty-blond hair. A beauty that is more than skin deep. My friend. My lover. Unexpected."

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Turn It Up by Kim Karr. Set The Pace, the first book in the Detroit Love Duet ended on a huge cliffhanger. I was dying to finish the rest of the story.

Turn It Up should not be read as a stand alone novel. It picks up where Set The Pace left off.

I am not going to go into great detail about Turn It Up because I don't want to give the readers spoilers for either book. I will say that the Detroit Love duet is a complex romantic suspense that revolves around Detroit and the car industry. It is a murder mystery that spans a 20 year period which includes deaths in the past and deaths in the presence. The mystery of the past was the first negative step in the decline of Detroit City. The recent deaths revolve around the horrific incidents in the past and may affect the future of the City.

Storm Motors is bringing life back to Detroit City. It is the only hope the bankrupt city has. It could bring new industry back to the city. It could revive the declining auto industry. Someone wants to stop Storm Motors from opening it's doors. Someone wants the secrets to remain buried.

One generation destroyed the city. It destroyed their children. The new generation is living in the aftermath of the destruction. They want to rebuild their city and finally find healing from the past. When bodies start dropping the past is rearing it's ugly head.

In the midst of all the chaos and excitement, Jasper Storm and Charlotte Lane find each other again. This time around they are adults in control of their own lives. This time around nothing can tear them apart. They will face the monster together and build a strong and hopeful future.

Kim Karr outdid herself with the Detroit Love Duet. I was glued to the pages and deeply invested in the story. The plot was complex, witty, and kept the readers guessing. When all the final revelations are revealed, it leaves the reader reeling.

I highly recommend the Detroit Love Duet by Kim Karr.

5 Lightning stars

When I read Kim Karr’s books, they always leave me craving more. And after reading “Set the Pace (Detroit duet series #1)”, I was constantly wondering what to expect next in book 2, “Turn it Up (Detroit duet series #2)”. The first book left us wanting to know more about Charlotte and Jasper, more about the mystery surrounding 'Lightning Motors' (Jasper's automotive plant). And let me tell you that the author gave us an amazing ending with a perfect and beautiful HEA that I really LOVED!

"Turn it Up" starts right where "Set the Pace" ended. Jasper was wrongly accused of murder and Charlotte is at the hospital recovering from being attacked. They not only have to fight with all the mystery involved in their lives, but they also will have to fix themselves in order to not feel unwanted and unloved.
Jasper Storm is trying hard to find out who is involved in all the misfortunes surrounding his automotive plant, he can’t trust anyone, except his friends and of course Charlotte, she has became his light, his love, his life.
Charlotte Lane always felt unwanted and unloved. All the people she once loved left her, but now she is trying to make things work with Jasper, her best friend that makes her feel loved again.

“Two missing puzzle pieces in life that have come together.”

This book was everything I expected and more. Kim Karr once again gave us an amazing series. This is definitely a must read! You will not only love this creative story, but you will also connect with the main characters and the secondary as well. So be prepared for this final ride...it's so intense that it'll leave you on the edge of your seat wanting to see what happens next.

*This is the second book in this duet. Set The Pace is the first book and must be read first.

I have been waiting for Kim Karr's Turn It Up since I finished Set The Pace - wanting to delve back into the world of cars, mystery, love and mayhem in Detroit. And once I opened it I didn't want to stop until I knew it all!

Turn It Up picks up right where Set The Pace leaves off. YES. You need to read Set The Pace first. This is a duet and everything is wrapped up at the end of Turn It Up. I promise!

So we have childhood best friends Jasper and Clare... they were inseparable growing up - until their lives and families tore them apart. They haven't seen each other until Clare comes back to town as an adult. Now they are together but their lives are in chaos - mystery, deaths, attacks, imprisonment, false accusations and just plain drama! As they make their way through all of this (yeah that's all I'm giving you because really. don't you want to read it for yourself?) it can rip them apart if they choose to go it alone or it can bring them even closer together.

I think what I loved about Turn It Up was while it was full of action and I was NEEDING to know what happened - who was at the root of it all - it also centered on relationships. The two together just made the book click for me. We see Clare and Jasper's relationship deepen, and mature as they relearn each other and come to terms with their own baggage. They are just plain good for each other and help each other grow into the best version of themselves. And let me tell you they are smoking together - as they take their foot off of the brakes and go full steam ahead... together! They cannot get enough of each other, and I couldn't get enough of them! And Clare and Jasper isn't the only relationship dealt with here. We get such great moments with all of the side characters. As the mayhem hits everyone involved and they are forced to confront the ghosts from their pasts as well. I adored seeing these and it added so much to the story. (Though I do hope we get to see some more of them in the future.. hint, hint ;) )

I definitely recommend this book - this duet. You don't want to miss this thrilling ride!

Rev up your engines because Turn It Up by Kim Karr is here!!! Thank God Jasper and Charlotte are back!!!! This book starts where Set the Pace ended. Jasper is arrested and sent to jail for crimes he did not commit. Charlotte is in the hospital fighting for her life. Detroit’s reputation of the 4 C’s continues…crime, corruption, capital and cars. Jasper and Charlotte are victims of this reputation. Jasper is out of control, wild, crazy and mad as hell but ladies, he is also back faster and hotter than ever. He has something to prove…some territory to reclaim. Charlotte too is fighting and has something to prove but love is something Charlotte wants to avoid since whoever has loved her, has left. When Jasper and Charlotte reconnect the “charge” is electrifying and as much as they both are scared to commit, they can’t turn away, “He kisses my temple and I can’t help but think that his lips are meant to kiss me. And when his arms wrap around me so perfectly, the only thing I know for sure is that we are two missing puzzle pieces in life that have come together.” The sexual tension, sexual attraction, and the sexual moments will make anyone overheat. As much as they belong together, they are each dealing with their own nightmares. Given what has happened, will they ever be the same? Is it best they remain “just friends” and live in the same town or worst go back to living life apart?
Kim Karr again sets the bar high for another amazing series. The Detroit Love Duet should be on everyone’s must read list. Karr continues to be such an impressive writer, creating stories where one cannot put down the book and even reads it multiple times. All her characters have such depth that you not only fall in love with the main characters, but also the secondary characters as well!!!! Thank you Kim Karr for your incredible talent which keeps us all entertained and falling in love over and over again with our new book boyfriends and book couples!!!!

It isn't often that I feel like the second book in a series is better then the first, but Turn it Up is the exception to the rule in every way!

From the very beginning I was intrigued with where Kim was leading Charlotte and Jasper in this story. I was fully prepared for Charlotte to be found brutalized from the attack at the end of Set the Pace. What I didn't expect is Jasper's friends to rally around her. I really wasn't very certain of them from the beginning especially one in particular. When she wakes and tells the police what has happened to her and by who's hand, it sets off a series of chain reactions that you won't believe...

There were a few things that I did find slightly predictable, but for the most part the characters all surprised me in a lot of ways. Everything Jasper has done is for the good of Detroit, and all because of greedy people, his empire he's striving for is being threatened once again.

Even after his release from jail, Jasper's struggle to find the truth and Charlotte's desire to clear her fathers name leads you down a winding trail. Every time I thought I had it figured out I realized that I truly wasn't sure who was at the top of this scheming, there were just too many players on the field.

I loved Charlotte's resilience in this. She could have tucked tail and turned away leaving her legacy and her father's legacy in ruin. But she stayed. She stood strong, stood up for what she believed in and uncovered the truth once and for all.

I really enjoyed the ending to this one, it's a beautiful story and I really fell in love with all the characters! I only hope that we get to have more of their stories in books to come! I mean there is a lot left out there when it comes to Jasper's friends and business partners. I can't wait to see if she gives us more of this group, I'd surely welcome them with open arms!

4.5 stars

Poor Jasper can't catch a break. He thinks he's hit a calm period and then something else comes up that could ruin everything; his dreams and his future that are on the line.
We pick up where we left off in Set the Pace. Both Jasper and Charlotte are facing life changing events. Just when they thought their lives were turning around and working out, someone or something steps in that could jeopardize it all. If only they could figure out who it is.
It seems like Jasper and Charlotte are either in a stable stage in life or in complete chaos. There doesn't seem to be an in between for them. This doesn't sway them though. This is what I love about them. When I say them, I'm also including Jasper's friends; Will, Jake, and Drew. They all make the story.
Turn it Up gave us all the answers we've been craving to the questions that have been weighing on us. It was a bumpy road. Everyone had something that weighed them down and made them question whether or not they could actually succeed. But in the end, I couldn't have been happier with the outcome.
Kim Karr has done it again with this duet. She gave us the perfect amount of detail so that I was able to envision what the scenes unfolding would really look like. Those are the best kind for me, where the story unfolds before my eyes and I can picture what it would be like to be "in" the story. It would be an adventurous life, that's for sure!

The second book picks up where the first one left off. The closer that Charlotte and Jasper become, the more mysterious that things become. Those that were once deemed friends, have now become potential foes, and the Motor City lovers are not sure who they can trust.

The plot thickens when Jasper discovers that the man that has been a huge support to his family, especially his mother, is not exactly what he claims to be. Still trying to fulfill his dream of bringing his once vibrant hometown back from the brink of financial ruin, Jasper is determined to make his automotive plant a reality, all while trying to find out exactly what happened to his father when he was a child.

Charlotte is finally starting to realize that she has finally risen above being the discarded daughter of one of Detroit’s prominent businessmen. No longer plagued by the black cloud that hung over her head, she is determined to forge ahead with her life, including the childhood friend that has now turned lover. With Jasper by her side, these two will stop at nothing to right wrongs and have a life that never dreamed possible.

Readers, brace yourselves and buckle up. The conclusion to The Detroit Love Duet will take you one hell of a thrilling ride so racy and intense, that you will not know what hit you!

4.5 explosive, sexy stars.

Holy Moly, Turn It Up is SO GOOD. Like heart pounding, breath stealing good.
After being left with one hell of a cliffhanger at the end of Set The Pace I can't even begin to describe how desperate I was to get my hands on Turn It Up. My head was spinning. I had so many questions. And I ached got Jasper and Charlotte.
Going into Turn It Up, straight away I was thrown into addicting action and heart pounding twists and turns. More and more questions came out instead of being answered but I loved it. I loved the adrenaline rush this book gives.
As with Set The Pace, Turn It Up, takes you through lies, deceit, mystery, hot sex, love and friendship.
Despite the fast pace, action filled story line the book follows the underlying mystery is actually unfolded slowly. Kim delivers the perfect balance to make this story flow easily, keeping me fully connected.
Jasper and Charlotte are an unstoppable force. So sweet, so sexy, yet clouded by so much hurt and pain, they still managed to pull me into their story and make me fall even further in love with them. Kim tops off this duet with a super strong secondary cast, that I'd be more than happy to read more about.
For anyone looking for a deep, twisty, suspenseful and wholly sexy series to dive into this is the duet for you!

Jasper and Charlotte finally found their way back to each other after all these years. But even if they try to put that past behind them will it be the one thing that will destroy them?

I loved this duet!! I was left in the first book cussing Kim for leaving us hanging the way she did but she made up for it in this book. I had trouble putting this book down I couldn't wait to see what happened next and before I knew it I was at the end.

The chemistry between Jasper and Charlotte was off the charts. I loved the strength, courage, confidence and growth Charlotte showed in this book and that it was because of the way Jasper treated her that helped her with the growth. The way they opened up to each other in this book was beautiful written. Also the friendship between Drew, Will, Jake and Jasper shined through in this book the love they had for each other and the family they created it was very heartfelt.

This is the second book in this duet. Set The Pace is the first book and must be read first. You won't be disappointed it was a great sexy read that will leave you on the edge of your seat to see what happens next.

After the way set the pace ended, I couldn't wait to put my hands on this one..And dang, it was another roller coaster..from beginning to end there are twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.
There are a few new characters in this second book, or maybe I should say new players in this game of cat and mouse that Jasper and Charlotte found themselves in.
It's exhilarating, intense and suspenseful.
Yet on the other side, amidst all this chaos, Jasper and Charlotte try to keep their relationship free of drama and full of hot sex and sweet moments.
The author was brilliant in balancing perfectly the chaos of the situation and the fear of what was happening with the peaceful and sweet moments between them.
At one point I was so excited I wanted to tell the world what was going on..And then I swooned and swooned some more!
Love how Charlotte and Jasper make an effort not only in their personal lives by each facing their demons, but together as a couple.
Definitely a must read!
