Arizona Heartbreak
Because he was a half-breed, the warrior Chaco knew the misery that could result from loving a white woman. He told himself that she was evil, that her kind killed Indians, that her life would be awful as a nomadic Apache squaw. Still, his strong hands couldn't help but fondle her; his sensual lips had to fully taste her. And even though he sensed he'd one day have to send her back to her people, Chaco couldn't resist stealing each breathless moment of their ARIZONA ECSTASY...
I am a USA-TODAY best-selling author with 41 years, 76 books, and numerous writing awards behind me. My major genre is historical romance. I have always written for standard publishers but am now writing strictly for Amazon so I have more freedom to write real history. My most recent publication is SHADOW TRAIL, the 6th book in my Outlaw Hearts series. I also wrote and published my first full-length contemporary story, DANCING BENEATH YOU, in September 2022, a romance involving mystery and a depiction of reservation life in the Badlands of South Dakota. My best sellers are my SAVAGE DESTINY series (7 books) and my OUTLAW HEARTS series. See my website (www.rosannebittner.com) for details on all my books - most available for Kindle and in print. I am known for great love stories filled with real history and high emotion. I have also written many Native American stories, all based on real history.
I love American history. For those of you who have not yet read my books, my stories are generally set in the American West of the 1800s and feature vividly described, historically accurate settings that span the US from Missouri to California, from Canada to Mexico. Many of my books portray the poignant history of our Native Americans, and though the characters are my own, I use real historical locations and events in all my novels. I have also written about the French & Indian wars, American Revolution, the War of 1812, the war with Mexico (the Alamo), and the Civil War.
National magazine ROMANTIC TIMES has called me the "Queen of Western Romance" and an "emotional powerhouse." My husband and I have traveled the west for nearly 40 years and I have visited just about every location mentioned in my books.

Just as an Artist takes a brush to a canvas to create a beautiful work of art. Rosanne Bittner creates words on paper, that paints an even more beautiful, masterpiece. Arizona Ecstasy, the sequel to her fabulous Arizona Bride book, is a work of art. She touches the readers soul in a most profound way with her story of the Apache. For those who love a great Native American book, this is it. It will speak right to your heart and soul as well as your conscience. Apaches were a beautiful people and Rosanne Bittner certainly does them justice. It's such an emotional journey, but one you'll be glad you took.
I just loved Arizona Bride and Arizona Ecstacy is even better. History often repeats itself and that is exactly what happens for Chaco the half-breed son of Apache, Saguaro and Southern Belle Shannon, and his half brother Troy. Chaco is torn between the white world he grew up in and his Apache blood. Chaco finds it impossible to live in the white world when he looks pure Apache. Chaco is with a group of Apaches when they come across a family wagon that has been ambushed by white men. In the end Chaco saves Lisette from being raped and murdered. He takes her to his village knowing the indians will be blamed for the raid, rape and murder. It would be too dangerous to immediately take her to the Fort or even to his parents. He knows he cannot keep her for his own. He knows how much his father and mother struggled because they were from two different worlds. The life of the Apache Indians is at a fast decline. Treaties are broken. Government supplies rarely arrive at the reservations and what does arrive is little and often rotten. The Indians are cheated, lied to, starving and desperate to not lose their Apache way of life. Bryce has done an amazing job of raising his stepson Chaco and he works so hard to try to help the Apache Indians even when almost every white person in Arizona hates them. Troy grows up to be the best brother Chaco could have ever asked for and he does so much to change the way whites see the Apache and to bring justice to some that have committed atrocities against them. Troy helps the Indians by writing newspaper articles about what truthfully has been happening between the army, corrupt business men, vigilantes, the Apache Indians, the conditions on the reservations, the raids, rapes, and murders. I never saw this ending coming. The love and bond in this family is remarkable. Destiny can be strange. So much comes together in the very last pages. This is a must read!
Arizona Ecstasy… another tear jerker, deeply emotional HR by Rosanne Bittner! This is the story of Chaco, tormented by his mixed heritage, the son of the heroine (Shannon) in the Arizona Bride… his father was Saguaro, an Apache leader. It’s also about his white half brother Troy and the impossible choices both have to make in life… and of Lisa who fell in love with Chaco.
Bittner has written a deeply romantic tale around the heartbreaking story of the demise of the Apaches in the 1880s at the hands of the white man … it includes real historical figures… Cochise, Geronimo etc. Outstanding research, rich historical details bring the story to life.
The romance storyline is unique as only Bittner can do … I keep thinking how heartbreaking it was for most of the book … and then the HEA was perfect!! A lump in my throat and tears in my eyes!! A treasure of a story!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved the story! I devote many books on Native Americans and Ms. Bittner kept her facts straight and true! The story was well thought out and deeply touching. Personally liked it well enough to find and order the book Arizona Bride by Bittner. It is the predecessor of this story!
There are. Many seasons in this book. It brings out many heart- felt emotions for the white man and, Indian. It was a horrible time for both. The white man would kill the Indian on site out of fear and the Indians would raid and kill The white man to protect their land and homes.
This was a great story....along with the history of the native Americans and the hate and horror they had to endure.... But love prevails ...would like to see how Lisa and Chaco finished their lives together.
Well, there was hardly any ecstasy involved in this story. More like grief nearly all the way. Even the ending was nothing to write home about, though at least it wasn't as disappointing as its prequel "Arizona Bride".
As far as the fictitious story goes, like its prequel, it left me wanting. In fact, it was very much more of the same ... same flip-flops back and forth between loving one man then the other, experiencing 'ecstasy' with one then the other, and the Indian hero doing much more of the same with another woman. The assuagement of basic sexual urges is translated into 'love' for the convenience of the plot. All this 'loving' back and forth may be realistic as far as real life goes, but far from what a reader looks for in an escape romance novel. The so-called romance was just a re-enactment of life's cruelties and betrayals and states of denial that we are all so familiar with. Even the 'happy ending' was almost reluctant. And all too brief when compared to the long drawn-out wait for the two lovers' reunion. Yes, I have to say it was rather disappointing.
Still, I give this book a 3-star rating because the author does justice to the Native American people who suffered so much at the hands of so-called civilised whites. For its historical value, Bittner gets all the kudos she deserves. She conveys the Indians' plight with remarkable empathy, and draws the same from the reader.
5 stars for the first part - Loved getting more Bryce and Shannon and a glimpse of their family growing.
4 stars for Chaco and Lisa's romance part (last part of story) - they just didn't grab me like I wish they could have, but I still enjoyed seeing them get their HEA.
This was the first romance novel I ever read. In high school, my best friend swiped it from her aunt's library and we took turns reading it. I'm sentimental, and have since moved passed the romance genre for the most part, but I still like this book twenty years later.
