A cross between Jurassic Park and The Island of Dr Moreau, Team Grendel risk life and limb again. Chaos and pandemonium are the reason I enjoy these books, you never know exactly what is coming next. Plus the entire team are bonkers!
Just when I thought Team Grendel couldn't get anymore badass, they prove me wrong. Taking out Mega Beast sharks in the past was child's play compared to what they face on this new secret island of Ballentines. Picture Jurassic Park on steroids. They also have to deal with crazy cloned Neanderthals and mutated clone scientists. And if that wasn't enough, Ballentine's past comes into play set on revenge. Does Team Grendel pull off another op successfully without loss? Well you're just going to have to read for yourself.
The Reynolds brothers' antics made me laugh out loud several times while reading this installment. I would give 5 stars but the editing needs a little work. Dr. Norris was changed to Dr. Harris after a couple of chapters.
Hello Gemmies! I have an entertaining audiobook review to share with you today. MEGA 4: Behemoth Island by Jake Bible is the fourth book in the MEGA series. This series is so much fun and has brought me a lot of joy! You get action, humor, horror, thrills, and love, MEGA 4: Behemoth Island really has it all!
MEGA 4: Behemoth Island takes place immediately after the events in MEGA 3: When Giants Collide. On the run from powerful enemies, their ship severely damaged, and low on supplies, Team Grendel needs a break! Our lovable misfits decide to follow Ballentine's directions to a promised paradise island where they can rest, regroup, and plan their next move. Of course once they arrive at "Paradise" all is not as it seems and chaos quickly ensues. There are no mega monster sharks in this book, but there are plenty of other monsters to keep you on the edge of your seat. Jake has delivered another well thought out adventure with even more twists and turns and secrets to decipher. There are plots within plots. How can there not be when dealing with Ballentine?!?!?
The character development is really great in MEGA 4: Behemoth Island. We get more insight into the inner turmoil that some of the team members are facing. This is especially true with Thorne and Darby. Shane and Max will always be my all time favorites, but I was very happy to see Lucy and Darby getting more page time. The interactions between the team members is also heart warming and adds more depth to each character. This isn't just a team anymore, its a family.
MEGA 4: Behemoth Island is narrated by one person, Neil Hellegers. Neil is just wonderful! His pacing is perfect and he does a brilliant job bringing all of these characters to life. Neil adds just the right amount of snark to successfully nail all of the dark humor. He is also able to add enough differentiation to his voice to give each character a unique personality. His narration for Darby is particularly great in this book.
If you love prehistoric creatures, plot twists, carnivorous plants, dark humor, light love, cannibals, misguided scientists, and jungle adventures go read this book! Published by Severed Press, MEGA 4: Behemoth Island is available for purchase from all major booksellers. I give MEGA 4: Behemoth Island 4 out of 5 gems. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. Happy Reading!
Dinosaurs! We…. have…. DINOSAURS! Yay! 😀 The team leaves the sea and heads to island life full of nightmares. I for one was super excited to see more prehistoric life such as a variety of big bad dinos. You can’t go wrong with some dinosaurs.
Mega 4 starts right off the bat with some surprising twists, followed by a great mystery plot hook. What happened to this island and the people running it? I was a tiny bit confused by the explanation. Not sure if it was unclear or if I just missed that part of the story some how. I got the basic gist, so me being a derp and missing the explanation did not ruin the story for me.
I really love how with each book in the series we learn even more info about the main characters. The author does such a great job just sprinkling facts in here or there. It is so seamless, you don’t even realize you are learning backstory. It just feels so natural. Never does it feel shoe horned in.
Every time questions get answered, if feels like even more questions crop up! I do love it because it is such a tease! You get enough to feel satisfied by there is still enough to leave you hooked for future books.
Highly entertaining series. This book is no different. Moves so fast! It was over before I knew it. I had so much fun listening to Mega 4. An on the edge of your seat sort of story. I could not get enough and eagerly started in on the next book in the series!
Another stunning book. Action and drama right to the very last sentence. This book was a little different than the books before it. A lot more action with a few unexpected twists. The story was intriguing and slightly different from the other books. The continuity continues to be spot on. New characters were added to the mix. Their importance to the story were explained so the story remained cohesive. There were still unexplained things happening so that you knew that there would be another book to tie it all together. I cannot wait to read the next book. This author has it altogether though, so I know the next boo will be every bit as good as the other books have been. I look forward to reading it.
I enjoy this story of Team Grendel. I prefer the sharks those are my favorite ones but this one was good. As well interesting to see a different mission ops. keep up the good work
