This book delves into the stars, their meaning, and how they communicate a massive transition in our spiritual life and practices. The old age is passing away, and a new one is dawning this very moment. While the term, "new age" has been around for a while, this book will define what a new age really means from a Biblical and experiential perspective. Historically, these cosmic shifts have brought a drastic restructuring of our spiritual life and practice. They have even ushered in new understandings of the nature of God and Man. This book will challenge both Christians and New Age adherents to reevaluate the future of their beliefs.
The whole time I was reading this, I kept saying yes yes exactly. I've been seeing what Chris talks about but didn't have words for it. Since I first started pursuing Christ, I've felt there's more. But until you're exposed to it (like when I walked into Freedom Church in Pensacola and felt the presence of God in a the whole building) you don't know how to talk about it or even clearly that there is something else. A more excellent way.
This book feels like permission for things I've felt in the past. Like that dogma and doctrinal language, whole so important, have also trapped a lot of people who have "right thinking" but not as much metanoia (transformation of the mind) as they could. Doctrine should usher us into a space with God where we learn about who he actually, not just his right and left bounds. Learn what his smile looks like, how he waits quietly and patiently while you cry or process something he said.
Our abstract terms (grace, mercy, holiness, etc) have given the church a false sense of concreteness that we already know all there is to know about God. And those terms cut off the wonder of concrete experiences that can only be described abstractly. The doctrine is only a safety net that should make us feel safe enough to come in and spend time with God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. If we don't feel safe, we may have emphasized some aspects of God incorrectly and should be eager to make corrections.
I'm full of gratitude to Chris for inviting me (October 2019) to take my first steps in visiting Jesus in person. It's totally changed how I see Him. And this book cements the permission that it's okay got that to be the main thing even.
