Worry-Free Living: Trading Anxiety for Peace

Rate this book
In this compact adaptation of Be Anxious for Nothing , #1 New York Times bestselling author Joyce Meyer shows readers how to rid themselves of worry and fear by drawing on the peace of God.

Difficult times are part of living in this world. However, God has provided a way for us to enjoy peace as part daily life. We can choose either to allow ourselves to be burdened with worry and anxiety or to live in the peace and joy that God wants for our lives. Joyce Meyer shows how to rely on God's strength during difficult circumstances by revealing the nature of God's peace as found in Scripture. She explains how to trade anxiety for joy, develop a childlike attitude of faith, and give our worries to the Lord.

This smaller size book is perfect for your morning devotionals or your evening prayer time before bed. Or even when you’re too stressed and need a break. Perfect size to stick in your purse or just keep in your home when you need it.

I love the stories and the way that Joyce Meyer knows how to speak directly to you and help you release your anxiety and stress and give it to God.

Broken down into five sections; You can Choose Peace, You can Lean on the Lord, You can Rest in God, You can Trust God’s Plan, and You can Cast Your Care. Each one of those sections offers several stories that speak to your heart.

If you know someone who is struggling or if you are, this is a wonderful book that will help you with the anxiety and stress in your life.

I have chronic anxiety so got this book hoping it would help. I'm also very familiar with Joyce Meyer and have read several of her books before (well worth reading). This book might be the best so far just because it deals with something I have so much difficulty with, a major issue in my life.

I was only a quarter of the way through a library copy when I knew I had to have my own copy so I could underline at will. I continued reading in my own copy, starting to underline and now that I have finished will just start reading the book again to underline the rest of the book. Besides I need to absorb the content and reading it again will help. And then maybe I'll read it again. Seriously, that's how important and helpful the book is. It may be a book I need to read monthly for a while.

I highly recommend this book to those with anxiety issues. And seriously think about if you have anxiety issues and the extent to which you have them. You may think you're fine and realize that the more you think about it the more you realize anxiety really is an issue for you, something that interferes in living your life, being a Christian, having a relationship with Christ.

I enjoyed reading this book. A lot of things I agreed with and could relate to because it was like she was talking about me. I highly recommend this book if you live a stressful, anxious, fearful, and not so peaceful life. Also, if you are always worried about something.

When you think about worry-free living, you might think that is simply impossible to achieve. If you are a non believer and put your faith in your job, your bank account, your marriage, and even what you can achieve, you are 100% correct. Some day something will happen that will shake things up. You lose your job, you get that dreaded phone call from your doctor, your marriage falls apart, your children run away, even your bank account dwindles. However when you place your faith in God, the Creator of everything in the heavens and the earth, nothing is impossible, but it will take faith to see that happen.

I'm not saying that by being a believer, you won't have difficulties and won't be subject to the same things are non believers are, but we do have someone we can turn to, just like when a young child faces a problem, they know who to run to without any second thoughts. That is what the Bible means when it says to have child-like faith. They know by taking their troubles to mom or dad, thing will be okay. They will handle it and then they skip off knowing it's being handled.

In her latest book, Worry-Free Living, Joyce Meyer teaches you how to have that child-like faith, what it means to cast your anxieties upon the Lord, and how to trade your anxiety for peace that only God can provide. In just under 135 pages, this simple and easy to use book guides you through things like understanding what it means "to seek God's kingdom first, is the key to living in the peace of the Lord. To seek God's kingdom simply means to seek the know God and His ways. We are to seek God's kingdom and His righteousness over all other things ,and then everything else we need will be given to us as well. In other words, one reason we worry and fret and live in fear and anxiety is that we simply have our priorities mixed up. We are seeking our security in the things of this world rather than in the God who created this world. God meets the needs of every created thing, including you and me. As believers, we are supposed to seek Him, not to seek the fulfillment of our needs. If we will seek Him first, He has promised to provide for us in every way, to open the doors of opportunity He has for us, and to give us the security we need." (pg. 16).

I received Worry-Free Living by Joyce Meyers compliments of Faith Words, a division of Hachette Book Groups in exchange for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation aside from a free copy of this book in exchange for my personal and honest opinion. This little book is simply chalk full of great advice including a six step plan for God's peace in your life that anyone can follow. Combined with Scripture verses each of the 5 chapters focuses on specific things we can do to eliminate anxiety, manage stress and enjoy the present day that God intended us to do. One thing is true, the Bible is the perfect owner's manual to helping us enjoy every day of our life to the fullest. I'd rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

In the latest book by Joyce Meyer, "Worry- Free Living", she teaches the reader what it means to cast our cares on God. Worry Free Living is all about trading anxiety for peace, which is based on scripture and the peace that she is talking about is something that only the Lord can provide. This book is very small, something you can throw in your purse, briefcase or stick in your nightstand for those nights where you're unable to sleep. Each chapter is in the format of a devotional format, so it doesn't take the reader a long time to read, but the concepts are very practical and reasonable. Instead of seeking peace and security from worldly things, we should be seeking it from the Lord and Joyce makes the distinguish in this book, which is why this book is perfect for anyone who struggles with anxiety. I love how she just shows the reader how to dismiss their fear and anxiety with the word of God and casting their cares on him. I enjoyed reading this book as a devotional and also I stuck it in my nightstand for the nights when thoughts were running rampid through my mind because I could not sleep.

Thank you to Faith Words, a division of the Hachette Book Group for providing me a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review. This book has lots of golden nuggets of wisdom that is easy for anyone to follow and is a great way to learn how to manage anxiety, worry or fear. I give this book 5/5 stars because of it's Biblical content, ease of use and how great of a resource it is.

Brings Peace Just Reading It

Joyce Meyer is up to her usual top quality as a truly gifted Christian in this book. At one point in the book I wondered when she was going to get back on topic, but she did. One part I had trouble with was right at the beginning she says that earning a living is our responsibility and we don't need to involve God in this. I disagree. God should be involved in every aspect of our lives, even cleaning the house, though we don't probably worry about that anyway, we just do it (or not). Many people worry about how they will make a living. There are homeless people. We need to be able to cast this very important care upon God, as well as many other things. Her scriptures at the end helped back up what she wrote.

Couldn't zoom through this book - a lot of aha moments. Lawd knows I know/should know a lot of this information but I tend to "forget" when "trouble" arises. Review/Giveaway will be posted on BR on the release date.

I give this read a 4.4/5 🌟, If you are an invetible imperfect Christian like myself and every other believer, we are trying to become closer with God and seek his guidance. This book touches on a lot of skill building with our relationship involving God and our spirit.

You learn how to further obtain complete peace, joy, and patience in your daily life. You wake yourself up to take a step back and realize God is our captain, and the enemy is the one who wants you to fail. This is by trying to make us only fantasize towards the past & future by pacing goals or creating unrest in your life. This steals your peace with those you love and your individual ministry in the NOW! There is no point to become stressed or worried if things take longer in your day, you're not the planner of your week and it will never go the way we want because we do not control it all.

Anytime you get fogged in life this literature reminds us to maintain self control, become humble, and remain patient; with God there is no need to fret over life's little obstacles or treat ourselves or others rudely or anxiously due to these moments. Love each other and go along for the gentle ride is the message I received from Meyer. Meyer also touches on that God has a path for each of us that we can not control nor rely on ourselves to discover it. So build a relationship and rest in God because the prayers meant to be answered will be, and those that seemed unanswered show the true holy impact in time.

All worrying and anxiety do at any moment of our day distract us from being kind and caring. Give your burdens unto him, and you will have rest. Work hard, but also know you can not accomplish things without His grace. Plan your day, but don't become easily upset when minutes or hours change in it.

This taught me to let go of some depressed thoughts and anxieties we all experience. Also, you realize certain things you can pray away and let go of because God is there to take it away. It is the devil who wants us to get stuck in constant turmoil or focus on only the negatives on our journey of growing

I used to be worried about everything. Worry is like an unwelcome feeling that comes and goes as it pleases and will infiltrate your life whenever you allow it to. This book conveys readers how to overcome worry and fear by leaning on God's peace. Difficult times are an inevitable part of life in this planet.
However, God has made a means for us to have peace in our daily lives. We might choose to be plagued by worry and concern or to remain in the joy and tranquilly that God desires for our lives. We should completely rely on God for everything. Indeed, make plans, but remember to leave everything in God's hands. This does not imply you should abandon your ambitions; rather, it means you should seek God's guidance in carrying them out. One of the reasons I love and appreciate this author is her straightforward approach to every subject. She is does not sugarcoat anything. However, she does use herself and her previous experiences as examples. The book itself is small and broken into five sections. It is a quick read that can be completed in one sitting or spread out over a longer length of time.

I don't think Meyers is extremely insightful in this small book, but the principles are true. What's helpful about this book is the scripture. It's only applicable to Christians I believe because the premise is to trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6) and don't worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:25-34) because God can give us peace if we trust in Him. I don't know what people who don't believe in God do with their anxiety...I guess they just work harder? Let it go? As a Christian we are to forcefully cast our cares on God (1 Peter 5:7) like fishermen throwing out our nets and we are to be hopeful about the return because we believe the Lord of the universe cares for us as a father cares for his children. (Jeremiah 29:11) We believe that he has greater plans for us than we could imagine for ourselves, so we let him direct our paths. In order to hear his leading we must seek him regularly in prayer.

I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me to remember that God is always with you and to trust His word and His plan for you. I have been using these tips when I feel stressed before a test or anything that gives me anxiety, and it has really helped. I can definitely say that I have contributed more peace into my everyday life than having fear and anxiety. This book is a must read if you want to know more of God's word and to develop self-growth.

I learnt from this book to trust God absolutely with every single thing. Yes, have plans and all that but remember to place everything in God’s hands. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t work on your plans, it means you should ask God for direction in pursuing them.
If you’re currently in a place where you find that ‘adulting’ is getting out of control or you worry a lot, perhaps it’s time to hand over the steering wheel to God because his plans for your life are always the best

I've heard her preach on this subject before, and I've read several other of her books involving this (Battlefield of the Mind being my ultimate go-to), but part 4 of this book "You Can Trust God's Plan" really spoke to me at this stage in my life. I appreciate this being a short book because I can quickly go back to that section for a refresher any time.
