As someone who loves being in the woods/forest, this book will probably be a favorite of mine. I know it is a novelization of the movie, but it still doesn’t change the fact this it was a great book! The author did a great job with that task! I would have LOVED having this book as a kid, and I know my brothers really would have thrived having it as well.

My 7 year old daughter read it and loved it, but it was probably the saddest book she’s read so far. It was a hard one for her to process, but she said she’s glad she read it.

Another quick read, if you’re looking for a good one! :)

This was a cute little book that follows the story of a boy living in the woods with a dragon. It has the same beats as the Disney reboot movie since it was written after the screenplay. It is a nice book for children with no real surprises and feels a bit rushed, especially towards the end. But it was an enjoyable fast read.

Name: Pete's Dragon.

Author: Landry Q. Walker.

Published: Parragon.

Pages: 156.

My ratings: 4/5.

Genre: Children's Fiction.

Pete's Dragon is based on the 2016 Movie. It is written by Landry Q. Walker and published by Parragon. The total pages of the book is 156. Goodreads rating is 3.9 and I gave 4 stars out of 5 stars. Its genre is children's fiction.

The story is about a five year old boy who was lost in the jungle after the car accident. Whose named is Pete. He survived six years in that jungle where he made a dragon his friend. However, few people found a boy in the jungle and took him with them to the town. Then, how the boy met his dragon friend and how the town people convinced him to live in the town instead of the jungle. You should read a book at once. I definitely say you will like it. Because it is a light book and for your children it is the best book.

This book is about an eleven-year old boy with the name of Pete he is an orphan who lives alone in a forest with his best friend Elliot who is a green dragon with wings and has green scales with honey gold eyes,He lived in the forest for a few years,Pete and his parents went out for a pick nick and they got into a crash, dragon,One day Pete is discovered in the forest,They take him back to their town to in search for answers on who Pete is.

I would recommend this book to one of my best friend who just loves dragons and since this book has a dragon she might like the book, and i would recommend it to other of my 3 friends who are now orphans since they're parents died last year and they might be able to relate to the main character Pete.

My main problem is that Pete doesn't really do anything, the moral is to be brave, but he isn't very active in the story for it to carry much weight. There is a different theme I sometimes see though, and that's to fight for what one thinks is right. The best parts are the other characters: Elliot is just adorable (when he's not roaring and breathing fire), Gavin trying to capture Elliot is pretty understandable, as that's probably something most adults would do, and Mr. Meacham is pretty cool.

This is overall a cute story, but I felt it was missing something to draw the reader in more. I was more invested in the last 25% of the book, but wish that had happened sooner. I would love to see the movie adaptations of this!

This was brilliantly written. As I am unable to watch movies, I wasn’t sure I would be able to follow the book properly without having seen the film, but not only was it easy to follow, but it was captivating, exciting and hard to put down. I loved it!

A play by play of the 2016 movie of the same name and cover image. I hoped my kids would enjoy it since they love dragons, but none of them were into it.

I haven't watched the movie, and honestly don't think my weak heart would manage... The story is so sad! The love between Pete and Elliot (the dragon) is adorable, and I just wanted them to be left alone in peace!
The book is clearly a children's book, and therefore the writing style is thereafter. I would like to read a retelling, though, written for adults! Nevertheless, the theme is great, and the storyline is (though somewhat rushed) pretty good.
One thing I really didn't like about the book was the 8 pictures from the movie that has been added IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOOK! That means the rest of the book, including the ending, is pretty much ruined by the time you make it halfway through the book... Why didn't they add those in the back of the book?
Other than that, it was a fine little book - a quick read and a good children's book.

Walker, Landry Pete's Dragon, 140 pages. Disney Press. 2016. $5.99. Language: G (0 swears, 0 "f"); Mature Content: G;

Pete, an eleven-year-old boy, lives in the forest. He spends his days with Elliot, his best friend that he can always count on. Elliot is a green, flying dragon that loves Pete more than anything. One day, a group of people are in the forest and discover Pete. Read about their adventure as their friendship faces hardship and challenges.

This book was as engaging as the movie. It follows the new Disney version of Pete's Dragon. The characterization and storyline pull you in and you become best friends with Pete and Elliot.

One of the things I love about Disney movies, are the movie tie-in edition books. PETE'S DRAGON is a fabulous junior novel, that brings the movie to life within the pages of this book. Featuring 8 pages of pictures from the movie, this book is perfect for fans of the movie, and those who've not yet seen it. It's a great way to introduce a whole new generation of readers to some Disney classics. Written for a target audience for 9-12 year olds, fans of all ages will enjoy this companion to the new live action movie, PETE'S DRAGON. On a side note, I absolutely love this cover.

OK, I'm not the intended audience for this, which is probably reflected in what might be an unfairly low score - I'm older than 9, and didn't watch the film! But I needed to read something that was based on a film or tv show and written afterwards for a reading challenge, so bought this one when I saw it in on the shelf. It's got pretty much no meat to the story, or the characterisation, as I think they relied on the reader filling in the gaps with their memory of the film.
