Elliot Gets Lost

Elliot the puppy is lost in the forest, and needs to find a new home. Will it be with a family of sheep, or a questioning owl, or maybe some playful fox cubs? Or will his search lead him somewhere else?

Seen in the 2016 movie Pete's Dragon as one of Pete's prized possessions, the picture book was brought to the page by the film's creative team.

Elliot Gets Lost is very great. I want you to read this because it’s very exciting and sad. I liked the illustrations, the picture of the little puppy is very sad and cute. The ending made me feel happy. I think you will like this book.

My kids LOVED this picture book! As soon as we got it, we had to read it three times in a row before we could even consider putting it down! Trilled to get a copy sent to us in exchange for an honest review and love this sweet way to introduce the upcoming movie to my kids!

A puppy named Elliot and his human family go for a picnic in the woods. But when Elliot wanders off and finds himself lost in the forest, he must decide where he belongs and find his way home. Nothing really special happens in the story. Just another forgettable children's book.

Decent artwork with a nice little tale about a lost dog told from the dog's perspective [which lifts the story another star- from "it was ok" to "I liked it"].

Quick little bedtime book. Nice little ending. I re-watched "Pete's Dragon" and was interested to see the book in the movie itself!

A great souvenir/experience for fans of the new film remake of Pete's Dragon. Yet still a fun story for those that have not seen the film.

A little puppy wanders into the forest while his family is camping and gets lost. He tries to go home with several different animals but they tell him he needs to find his family. Eventually, they help him find them.

Evidently this is in the new Pete's Dragon movie. I haven't seen it as of this reading, but there's no need to see the movie to understand the book. It reminds me quite a bit of Are You My Mother? , Kadir Nelson's Baby Bear , Max the Brave and even Lane Smith's There Is a Tribe of Kids in that all feature little animals looking for someone/something and asking a bunch of different animals. Because it feels so similar to all these other books it doesn't seem very extraordinary. Are You My Mother? was the original. Baby Bear features incredible illustrations. Max the Brave has a creative twist to the hunt. And There Is a Tribe of Kids also stands out for the illustrations and that the kid is looking for a group to belong to. Comparatively, this one is sweet and simple, but doesn't really stand out for any specific reason.
