“This is what’s going to happen. You’re going to run, and I’m going to chase you.” I've spent a lifetime hunting her, years of frustration, near misses and lost chances. Now I have her. Alone, cornered, and desperate. There will be no escape for her this time. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. She's finally mine. I just hope I can save her. --- I have no memory of my past life. Not even a name. All that remains is an aching sadness when I see the spot on my finger where a ring used to be. Now I'm not even human, if I ever was. I sleep like the dead through the day, and at night hunger drives me to hunt and kill. My prey are the worst humanity has to offer, but who is the real monster when I slaughter them like animals for their blood? Until him. Now I'm the hunted. He's stronger, faster, I see my own hunger reflected in his eyes...

There's paranormal fantasy, and then there's the yolk of nonsense protected by a labeling shell of paranormal fantasy. This is the latter, and I'm not a fan of nonsense.

What's What

description

This book moves slowly through the first 60%-70% because it's goes back and forth from a present tense timeline into LONG flashbacks and dreams of what's happened in the past.

When we first meet the FMC, she can no longer remember who she was and is now a vampire just drifting and feeding.

She's kidnapped by a strange vampire who plays equal parts Dr. Drew and Barbra Walters with her as he holds her hostage. Ever so slowly, what happened between her turning vamp and being kidnapped unfolds in dreams and these pseudo therapy sessions.

The romance is awful. Zero development or chemistry past ..

description

It's over 70% before there's any convo between the MCs that's not leading the FMC to spout a long diary entry about a time they weren't even together.

description

Her mom being in the house while he fucks the bad vamp out of the FMC & her hacking up the resulting ash during the ONE SEX scene...

description

The MMC's identify is glaringly obvious.

The only thing propelling me forward is HOW he came to be what he is, how she escaped the bad guy vamp, and how the MMC found her. <--- As that shit is unveiled @ around 80%, the nonsense reaches fever-pitch levels that'd have Kim K rolling her eyes.

The Contradictions

Breathing, or not?!?

"I have to stop to catch my breath, even though I'm not breathing."

"When I breathed it burned, like sucking fire into my lungs..."

"I don't breathe. I'm a corpse."

description

So, she notices temps every five minutes, but doesn't feel them?

description

"I can't really feel my body cooling down but I know it is. I'm a aware of heat, of cold, of the breezes in my hair, but I don't feel them, not really.

"As pale as stone, his skin was just as cold. Cold, cold and dead."

Cold - 56 times
Scalding - 3 times
Hot - 34 times
Cool - 9 times
Warm - 28 times
Heat- 26 times
Chill - 4 times

^ She's constantly talking about the temp of water, a fire, a blanket, her body, skin, the air etc

description

Does she feel pain, or not?

description

It's the same when I get hurt. I sense injuries but I don't feel pain.

Yet, to name just a few of the times she did feel pain....

• "... painful intensity of the light."
•"...clutching my throbbing head."
•"... my throbbing jaw."
•"... pain surged through me again."
•"All I did was hurt my hands."
•"I hit something, so hard I could not comprehend how much it hurt."
•"Crying out from the pain."
•..."pain came from the flames."
• "I felt the pain of death."

description

The Nonsense In The Writing Itself

"I feel the words, somehow, before I feel them."

"He's made of liquid gold and I see it curling him inside him..."

"I gasp and gurgle for breath, arching my back to breathe deeper and fill my lungs, but no matter how much air I draw in. I can hear voices.

description

The Nonsense Of The Plot

There's a lot. So, I'll just give you one example.

Imagine..

Your fiancé heads to Vegas. Goes missing. Her friend is found six months later in a landfill. You, as the chick's friend's boyfriend , are the one to go identify the body.

description

The medical examiner tells you nothing uncommon about the dead chick... BUT, even so, he feels inclined explain that he further investigated other similar cases by putting beetles on the dead body. Normally, beetles would eat the flesh to the bone, they didn't on some OTHER random chick.

description

So, I ask if you were the MMC, would ^ that lead you to thinking your girlfriend is alive and maybe...

"What if it was a vampire?"

description

Her: *gasp* Oh, what did you do?

"I laid it all out to your mom. She believed me. I needed more information and I started tracking it down."

description

Her: "Where?"

"I had to go to Oxford. To England. See, nosferatu are outcasts, they're all over the place. I didn't know what I was looking for yet, just tracing down some leads. I read anything I could. Folklore, mostly. Since vampires aren't real there aren't many serious books on them.

description

Some "lamia" notices him doing all this research, now in Italy btw, on her non-vampire-vampires. She attacks him and decides at the last minute to change him & teach him all that she knows.

description

Her: Cool. And, how'd you find me?

"Police reports."

description

Yep, dude tracked down vamps across Europe, adapted to his non-vamp-vamp self, learned 5000 years worth of vamp history and spell castings, tracks her down based on police reports from all across the U.S., tries and fails to kidnap her five times, etc etc in a matter of months.

description

If That's Not Bad Enough...

TSTL

description

FMC sends her mom off with a gun and the bad vamp's sister (who she now has mind control of) and ponders if the mom's gun would even hurt the vamp chick. YET... She and the MMC are waiting around to kill the bad guy vamp who possesses uber powers enabling him to ride the fog & turn invisible. Ookayz.

Bam. Ends in rainbows and unicorns.

Typos Out The Ass...

"A gin flashes on his face..."

The Dialogue Sucks...

Her: "Don't kill me. Please don't. Do whatever you want just don't kill me."

Bad guy: "Why not?"

Her: "I'm getting married on Saturday. Please."

Him: "You're not getting married on Saturday. I am going to kill you."

description

The final showdown with the big bad vamp'y is like a YA gorefest gone wrong as the FMC plucks ribs apart, eats a heart, etc to the tune of this kinda dialogue:

"Go Away."

"You want us? Come and get us."

"I wasn't expecting this."

"Burn." "Burn, motherfucker, burn."

"Run."

"Open up. Open up, little pigs, or I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house in.

"Come right in."

"If you want me, come in and get me."

"Get him."

description

The Grammar Sucks...

"It oozed down his arm and I was dying and he held it to his mouth and I watched his throat bob as he drew his own blood from the wound and snapped back down.

description

It's called a comma.

Bottom Line

description

Goose egg.

The cover is odd considering NO ONE is pregnant in this book. Lol

YA writing style and dialogue. Gore. One sex scene.

I can't find one good thing to say about this book.

This is my third book by the author, but I keep getting sucked in by a tasty blurb. No more.

4.5 stars!

Wow...what a surprising book! I fully expected this to be your typical vampire romance novel, but oh boy was I wrong!

It was also by far the most detailed when it comes to the characters transformation into the undead.

Such a good read!

All of my goodreads friends who large booking for a good paranormal romance read that sucks you right in, I fully recommend this book to you !

Erm?

I don't quite know what to say... I don't like giving bad reviews but unfortunately I'm struggling to find any part of this book that I actually enjoyed. Unfortunately I found it boring I'm really sorry to say this I did want to like this book but I just didn't connect to the story or characters at all. I found myself rolling my eyes a lot throughout this book. This book just wasn't for me

Christine doesn't remember her life before she was turned into a vampire her mind has been wiped and even her most recent memories are fragmented. She doesn't dream but she does need blood to survive, but only hunts those who really deserve it. She carries with herself only a picture of herself with one other but doesn't know who she is.

When she's taken captured on a routine hunt it turns form anything routine as she learns that he knows more about her than she thought. As she spends more time with the stranger she learns about herself, finding out that with his help she remembers what happened to her on the trip to Vegas. She also starts to remember her past who she was before she became a vampire and the stranger who kidnapped her might just be able to save her.

I like Christine she has issues, she's not perfect but even though it all she's honorable when it comes to hunting. I wasn't sure about Mike but once we learned who he was to Christine I couldn't help loving him as much as he did. I like Christine as a character she's one of those you can really connect with and cheer on as the book progresses.

I've had my eye on Thrall for a while so I figured it was a perfect chance to check it out. Thrall is a whirlwind story of Christine a vampire who was turned against her will, unable to remember her past fleeing from her master. While the vampire concept isn't new the author has added her own unique spin creating an interesting new story. I like the idea of the different types of vampires it was refreshing to see them in a darker light. I loved that Christine's past didn't let her go, and even changes her current life forever. This is my first book by the author, I enjoyed her storytelling and look forward to checking out more of her books.

Well reading this book is not easy i can tell you this.
Its not for the faint of heart and it sure as hell is not your normal vampire book.
I can tell you from the start that i still am not sure what in the world i read!!!
I can tell you from the start that i am still not sure i understood everything i read or that i am sure i read what i read!
And after i tell you all this i can tell you that i am still shocked from this book!
Its been a damn long time since i 've read something so different and thrilling and mind blowing and exciting!!!!
The ride with this story is freaking amazing even if you feel unsure and a lil scared to keep going!!!
Even if at points you feel grossed out by what you read!
You feel the blood running in your veins and your heart beating a lil faster as you read.
Something between excitment, discust, terror and amazement all in one.
Its one of those books that when you finish them you are not sure if you totally loved it or hated it.

Some sort of PNR romantic horror. The romance part was awesome, the book was chillingly well-written but the horror stuff was too much for my poor stomach:(((

I was given this book for free by Author for an honest review.

Thrall started out a bit slow and I wasn't sure what to expect. After the first few Chapters it got exciting and the suspense was great. I wasn't too happy with Christine's friend that made her go to Vegas and go see things she didn't want. Vincent was the epitome of the classic Nosferatu, mean ugly and just plain evil.

When the hero showed up it took me a bit to figure out it was Mike, Christines's fiancée . I was so excited and happy with myself when I found out I was right. The big shocker I didn't expect was that he was turned so he could Christine. And he never gave up! Talk about loving someone whole heartedly. He's my favorite character. And how he helped fix Christine, Wow!!

The ending was great when they destroyed Vincent.

Thank you for letting me read your book, I enjoyed it.

A different Vampire story? I would have like to understand more of the different type of vampire tribes, but its a short novel. I can see where this story could have been longer. It's not a horrible graphic novel, it does not go into graphic details on what Christine goes thru(we just know its not good)I say that for the readers that have not made up their mind because of the reviews. Its a good story, I just felt I needed more(on Mike?)good read:))

This is a different kind of vampire story, first off the vampire is a female named Christine. She doesn't remember her human past and has no idea how she became a vampire. She kills bad guys to feed and she's cold, calculating and brutal in her enjoyment of the kills she makes. It almost feels like she thinks she's doing the human race a favor by killing the dirt bags. But she's very sure of herself when she goes out to pick someone to feed on, that is until she's captured by a mysterious guy and held against her will.

This guy makes her remember who she was and how she became a vampire. He calls them nosferatu but if you ask me, it's just a vampire. We find out what the vampire did to her and it's not pretty, no wonder she doesn't want to remember that time. It takes a while before I could figure out why this guy was holding her captive and making her remember her past but when the big reveal comes about, it's bitter sweet, quite sad actually.

This story was not what I was expecting at all. It's not your typical vampire romance but there is some romance in this book, don't worry about that. It just takes a little while to get to it. It was quite an interesting story and I did like the ending.

Warning, there may be spoilers in this review!

Christine is getting married to Michael. Her best friend takes her to Las Vegas for a couple of days to party before the wedding. Chris refuses to go to the all male review that Andi has tickets to and decides to sit in the bar and wait for her friends. She is approached by an exceptionally creepy man named Vincent. He tells her to run, if she can make it out of Vegas with the head start he is giving her, she will live. She doesn't make it. Eventually Michael finds her and returns her to her childhood home. He helps her get rid of most of Vincent's evil, but there is enough left for him to find her. When Vicent arrives to reclaim her, Michael and Christine defeat him, but Vincent has a last dire warning.

You absolutely have to read this book to get the entire story. Impossible to put down, nail biting action and hot sweaty sex.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.

I never review but for some reason I felt like I needed to. It would have gotten a better rating but... How do I put this? The sex didn't make sense!
Now I know that's a weird statement but it messed with my reading flow. Here I am so excited that Chris has finally figured out who Mike is and BAM! It's suddenly a new age romance. It came from nowhere and then they go at it a few more times and then BAM! We're back to the plot. It just didn't work for me.

I want to suck your blood.

I wanted to like this book. I really did. I was stuck between 2 and 3 stars. To me this book was confusing. Mike and everything he knew and talked about just confused me. A lot of weird words and myths. I was wishing for a little more between the two. She doesn't realize who he is until the end so there isn't much in terms of relationship. It's also a little choppy when it comes to how Mike knows so much and what to do. I loved the lengths he went through it get to her though. In the end I was hoping for an epilogue or something more or a happy ending but there wasn't one. It kind of just ended. It was sad at the end with Andi but I'm glad they got a little more peace.

Such a strange book with so much confusion and actually quite a number of grammatical errors. I don't even know why I found the synopsis intriguing. I'm even more surprised that I held on to finish the book, the entire climax was laughable and irritating on many many different levels.

A strange twist on a vampire story. It goes from present to past throughout the book, but it explains the history of the main character. It's has its gore and the evil bad guy, along with the lover that's brings light to save the day. A different but quick read.

Not Twilight-like Vampires at all. But this story will suck you in. Lots of "blood" and gore. A very strong heroine who deals with a nasty vamp. I really couldn't put it down, and was forced to bed @ 3 am. Definitely worth reading.

I was given this book to read and review. I have enjoyed reading Abigail Graham books. But you can't be afraid to read this one its fansating to read. Thrall is a awesome read it's a story of sacrifice, loss, and redemption. This vampire romance isn't your usual kind. This has very seductive sensuous immortal lovers. Ms Graham’s vampire story has lots faces and twists. There are different kinds of vampire and immortals which made me enjoy reading this book. There is the Nosferatu they are the living dead. They are decadent, brutal, and maliciously savage, they enjoy playing with humans for their own sadistic enjoyment and they lack all sympathy for others.

Christine is in the hands of the Nosferatu and she has a cruel and brutal master vampire but her story is very imaginative and intriguing. But her will is strong and she won't breaks. Thrall storyine is of Christine's hope, love and how she can get through despair and cruelty. There are parts that are hard to read. The mystery will be is the man a vampire or what kind of immortal is he. I loved this ending. I hope you will be like myself and love how good triumph over evil.

Thrall will be a unique romance. Ms Graham imagination of this gothic novel is brilliant. I love reading every word of it.

THIS IS A EXCITING MUST READ

I received this book for an honest review.
Christine is an undead with no memory of her life before she was changed. Wondering from town to town looking for "deserving" victims to stay alive she's lost until he finds her. Some instinct tells her to run but he's prepared. She thinks he means to hurt her but all he really wants is to save her even if it means forcing her to relive her violent and painful death by the hands of a monster.
This book took me by surprise which is not something I feel I get to say very often these days. I went in expecting your typical vampire romance but this author took it somewhere completely new for me. I wish I could say more than that but I don't want to give it away so others can enjoy the twists and turns like I did what I will say is what a love story!!! On top of being the kind of love story that will warm your heart she also gives you this intricate vampire world with multiple species and the background of how they came to be which helps to really pull you into the world. I found myself really connecting with the characters and cheering, crying, and even laughing as I finished this book in one sitting. This is a standalone with no cliffhanger and I highly recommend you download it today!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review...
I enjoyed this book. I have always been interested in the supernatural (vamps more so than others) but curiously don't find myself reading too much about or with them. I was pleasantly surprised by the characters and the complexity of the story line as I was reading. The build up was interesting leaving me to wonder how and why what was happening. The twist was ... not so much shocking as it was just appealing to me. Okay maybe it was a little bit of a surprise but it could have been any one of my many guesses I had imagined as I read. I think sometimes that's the best part of a read... anticipation of what could be...your imagination running wild. I enjoyed the characters and the plot equally. I suppose my only complaint is the resolution seemed to have come and gone too fast. The drama that unfolded between her "recovery" and from what occurred with her 'master' and the other beings was not detailed enough for me. But I overall enjoyed the read! Thank you for the opportunity.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review
The book starts off with a vampire who has just killed a deserving victim. She lives day to day just to survive. She has no memory of who she is, only occasional flashes of memory that cause more pain than answers. On her next hunt, instead of hunting, she is captured by someone that seems to know a lot about her, starting with her name. Slowly, as he forces her to remember everything she's been through, she starts to remember who she is.

I originally came across this story in an anthology. At the first page or two, I wasn't sure what to think. After the first chapter, I couldn't put it down until I finished. With this individual release by the author, it was the same. I still couldn't put it down until it was done. Parts of the story are very brutal and make you wonder how there could possibly be a good ending. As the story unfolds and you see what one is willing to go through for love, you crave more of it.

I can't wait for more from this author!

I loved this book. At first I wasn't so sure. Christine's story starts out a little slow but then it starts moving and wow! Her story of how she became a vampire is riveting and a bit heartbreaking. She isn't the romantic version of a vampire-she is basically a walking corpse with little memory of who she was before and who is only concerned with finding bad people to feed from.

Then she finds herself kidnapped by a man who is not what he seems. He tugs at her memory and he holds her hostage. Every day he feeds her and questions her. What happens next is what made me love this book. I have to say that this is one of the best stories of unconditional love I have ever read (in fiction). I am a cynic and not at all the romantic type but this love story made me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

The ending is great. The final showdown was well thought out and I enjoyed it. Final note-READ THIS BOOK!!

Wow this book is stunning. The tone is so dark and at times disturbing but at the same time there is just a ray of hope flickering through out the book. I loved it. It's so different from the usual romantic vampire type books. It has far more depth to the story and characters. In fact the only thing I can say about it that I don't like would have to be the cover. I really don't like the cover at all. Just by the cover alone I probably would have over looked the book and moved on to a book that was more eye catching to me. I'm very glad that I was giving the chance to ARC this book for free because I would have missed out on a great book. I am eagerly awaiting more books from Ms. Graham. I loved this book and really think you will also. BUY THIS BOOK!!! You wont regret it.

Thanks for allowing me to ARC for you Ms. Graham.

This was an absolutely engaging and totally absorbing story right from the off and the author has produced an exceptional tale of love lost and found and the difficulties to achieve this. While on a trip to Las Vegas, friends Christine and Ani fall prey to the cruel vampire Vincent and his sister Victoria. Christine’s inner strength and her occasional memories are instrumental in leading her back to a life she once knew. Michael has never given up on Christine, or his love for her, and it is his perseverance for the truth that finally brings them closure. There is so much to this story, it is just so exciting, even the darker side of it which the author has described with sensitivity and feeling. If vampire stories are of interest to you, then I would have no hesitation in recommending this book as an exceptional read. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was gifted this book for an honest review. This is not your average vampire romance. The bleak hopeless situation Christine faces and the story that follows pulled me in and kept me turning the pages. But remember this is not a book for the faint of heart. It isn't your modern meaning of a love story. It is the real deal. It has blood and gore, it has the bad parts of life. Christine is gutsy and strong, even in the face of the hopelessness of her “life” as a vampire and the horrors inflicted on her by the monster that took her life away. But the end is what really got me. Christine winds up saving herself and he was her willpower, love, and inner strength that saved that day, not a hero swooping in and saving her.

3.5 STARS

This was a different read. I liked the way the author created her own paranormal world. Was this a dark read?Uhhh...Not necessarily to me. Was there horror? Yes. But Dark....not quite....but then again maybe I have read to many DARK reads to consider this one dark.

This was a quick refreshing read. But it had elements that were new and creative; making me want more. Want to know more. Want to understand. I would have 4 or even 5 starred Thrall if more time was spent developing and explaining the storyline. The different factions of the world she created. Who had what power and what that power meant. **MINOR SPOILER** how Victor was able to kill one of the strongest and eldest.

Definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.

New and intriguing
This book is a very new take on Vampires and what they are. Well written story with lots to entertain you while reading. It all starts when Christine and her best friend go to Las Vegas the week before her wedding. While alone in a bar while her friends are at a show a “man” comes up to her and tells her to run. Things only get more interesting from there. These are not normal vampires and as the story progresses we find out there are several types and all of them are more of a parasite infection yet incurable. The ending is also a big surprise with several twists.

I have to say at first I didn't think this book would keep me going however I was wrong. I love reading vampire stories and this one is just that. I was truly happy with the story. This is not your regular vampire stories - totally different then all others I have read. Overall, I enjoyed reading it and couldn't wait to finish and see how it ended.

Christine will take you on her life journey and you will read every experience, bad thing, how to survive and most of all how to live. You also get a love romance too :)

Great job to the author on a great book.

Not done yet, but I have to praise this vampire book for containing actual monsters. I suspect there's a flipside coming (and yes I hope since I'm not a fan of downer endings). But too many vampire tales try to exclude the dark side for most of the story.

I liked it. The end was satisfying. It wasn't the best I've ever read, but I thought it had enough unique aspects to make it interesting. It definitely unraveled in a good way. Hooked you early and went back to visit her worst memories in doses. Had this played out chronologically her time with her maker would have been too much, too fast.
