Mountain lion shifter Wyatt Reynolds has finally found something to fight for. Life has been a bit lonely for the tall, sexy cowboy on his upscale Montana ranch, but he never found the right woman to settle down with. Until a small, mysterious person walks into his office one day, hidden under bulky men's clothing and needing his help.
Valerie knows not to trust men. After being raised in the remote Montana mountains with a terrible father that sold her to the highest bidder because of her rare blood, she has written men off forever. When she comes to Wyatt looking for a job, all she wants is a place that's safe, quiet, and will allow her the freedom to finally live a life of her own. But what she doesn't realize is that a tall, ripped cougar shifter might be enough man to give a woman ideas.
Though they start as friends, Valerie is starting to get sexy thoughts about Wyatt that she never intended, and Wyatt seems to feel exactly the same way. But even as friends become lovers, Valerie's dark past remains a constant threat. The men who want her aren't giving up, but neither is Wyatt. Anyone who threatens this mountain lion's mate is going to see his claws.
Book 4 of the Bear Haven series or can be read alone as a satisfying standalone!
Terry is the author of over forty bestselling shifter romances. She spends her spare time dreaming of dragons, playing with her pets, and watching sunsets from her home in the mountains alongside her husband (who she suspects would make a great bear shifter). She loves the wild outdoors, her fans, all readers, and getting lost in a great book.

God, what an annoying heroine. I quit. I just can't handle her. She has this amazing man wanting to worship the ground she walks on and she just shits all over that. This is the first time when the H mentioned finding another mate I was like YES! Hurt her like she's hurting you. I tried to understand where she's coming from but I can't take this until the end. It's beyond frustrating.
The Good, The Bad, and Everything Else: While I thought this series had some ups and downs it truly ended on a good note. Wyatt was an incredible hero. He was patient and kind when Valerie needed someone to show her not all people or shifters are bad. Val came to Wyatt's ranch bruised and abused. Over the following weeks she healed and became more confident. Their relationship was a sweet progress of friends becoming more. When they became lovers those scenes were spicy and well written.
The length of the book (and all of the books I've read by Terry Bolryder really) is just too short to get deep into character history/development or to get a full on amazing romance that a 300+ page book would allow. They often rely on insta-love and use a fated mate trope to accommodate the quick I Love You's. I always mention insta-love in my reviews because I don't really like it and prefer slow burns where I can actually see them falling in love rather then having them "BOOM" in love. In most cases insta-love would be a negative but with Terry's work I just take it as it is and enjoy the books for what they are. So, with that said, this book was a little different. The book was a bit longer than the rest of the books in the series with 50 pages more than the first two and 30 more than book 3. It made a difference. We ended up with a longer courtship and a bit more background information. Another 150 pages would have given us even more but for the length of 165 pages this was a really good book. Wyatt and Val had some great moments together and the suspense was pretty good as well. I wish the tension would have played out a little longer though, as it was wrapped up pretty quickly.
At the end of this series we're left with a feeling of completion with all 3 McAllister brothers and their neighbor, Wyatt, finding their mates but the author opened up a new hero for us with Jace, a rare weretiger, and an interesting shifter policing "organization" led by dragons I'm looking forward to reading more of.
In a Nutshell: I'm honestly so thrilled with this book and I'm really happy I discovered Terry's work and I'm totally binging in her books. I can't get enough!
This is such a sweet series. I just can't get enough. The hero in this book, Wyatt, was absolute perfection. He was so patient, understanding and protective of the heroine from the beginning to end. I wish more heroes were portrayed in such a gentlemanly way. I will definitely be checking out more of this series.
I liked this shifter romance featuring cat and bear shifters. Nice second chance romance for our female lead, Val, who finds herself working for a cat shifter named Wyatt. The electricity between them is real, and he works to help her find her true inner cat.
I liked how H treated h and how he respected her space. I even liked the first part of story. But the second part I was confused by h, one minute she didn't want to commit to H, the next minutes she realized he was her mate. All in all, this story had potential.
I think this was the only relationship that didn't only take 3 days. It took WEEKS for them to get to the point of mating.
I like it. I dig it in fact. Get to know a girl before going all neanderthal on her. *wiggle eyebrows* Show a girl that not all men are assholes and douchebag city boys.
Wyatt was eating dinner in his office as an unknown person walked in for an interview. He couldn't figure out what it was, female or male. Just very curious. He needed to find out more, he sent them off. He followed to find out more. Boy, was he surprised! A beautiful female, bruised up face and a story. His protector instincts in full bloom now. What's going on with this woman?
Mountain Loin: BBW Paranormal Romance (Bear Haven Book 4 )
Absolutely one of the best stories I've read in a long time. The chemistry, the twists and turns are all written so well. Get caught up in a book that has it all, you won't be able to put it down. From page one I was hooked. Can't wait to read Jace story next. The first chapter sounds awesomely good. You definitely won't be disappointed by this author Terry Bolryder
Really enjoyed this one. I'm a sucker for a wounded female and compassionate hero. Wyatt was great giving her time to heal and always being there for her. I understood her arc but got a bit annoyed at her towards the end with the constant denial and saying everything would change if she admitted her feelings. One of the better books in this series.
Get to find out how a mountain lion gets his woman.
She shows up in oversized clothes, looking for a job and then leaves and gets into trouble at the bar in town, thank god Wyatt is there and from there comes more of the adventures.
What a fantastic read. The series gets better and better. Hot sexy guys, smart, intelligent , sexy women. Some twists and turns all with a happy ever after. A must read.
Mountain Lion (Bear Haven Book 4) by Terry Bolryder. Sold by her father and beaten up by the man that bought her Valerie didn’t trust any man. Being drawn to Wyatt she thought it was just friendship. But Wyatt wanted more and Valerie didn’t know if she could give that.
This was my favorite story in the series. It was fast paced, sweet, sexy, the hero didn't just claim his mate and voila, all is perfect. There were struggles they had to overcome to get to their HEA.
I loved it and the fact the a woman turn to fight to defend his mate made her a hero, even after all she had gone through. Loved it!!!! ❤💖💖💖💖💖💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
If only men were as protective of women in real life...This story touches on learning to trust after one has been betrayed by those closest to the heart (or at least who should be).
I was thrilled when Wyatt got a book, even if he is lumped in with the bears. He does live next door. I loved how this arrogant snob got brought to his knees. Loved it.
He runs his ranch and when a dirty and bruise girl shows up for work It's hard to turn her away. She was running away from the bruise family she had trying to find peace.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mountain Lion shifts gears with Wyatt Reynolds, a solitary mountain lion shifter who finds unexpected connection and purpose through a mysterious, disguised woman seeking help. The book blends mystery and romance beautifully, highlighting themes of vulnerability, trust, and the transformative power of love. It’s a strong, emotionally rich story with a rugged Western backdrop that feels fresh and engaging.
Wyatt, the well dressed, well mannered neighbor to the Bear Shifters can't understand why they all have mates and he doesn't. It isn't at though he doesn't want one. Their part of the country isn't exactly crawling with available mate possibilities. Yet those three managed to settle down. He was happy for them. Then: a bundled up, dusty, small little man (at least he thought it was a man) applied for a job. The guy just wasn't Dude Ranch material. Maybe the Bears could use him. But, there was just something that got his curiosity up and he followed the guy to the bar. Good thing—the guy was a gal and she was in trouble.
Is Wyatt just being a good Samaritan? Valery has some real issues, and ones he wants to take care of. But it is those very issues that make him keep two steps back—just where she wants him—or does she?
Watching their relationship grow is a touching story. She has more strength hidden inside than she knows. What will it take to bring it out? And if she does will it be too late.
The steamy scenes are touching as well as hot. You will want to read this one and see Wyatt deal will his mate situation.
I once again read this and ended with a good feeling and a smile on my face. A strong recommend.
I love this series more and more with each new book!!! Wyatt is a mountain lion shifter running an upscale dude ranch on his family land in Montana. Wyatt has a weird reaction during an interview with a gruff scruffy male but sends him away since he doesn't fit the ranch in appearance, Wyatt follows the male to the bar in town since his instincts won't let him do anything else. After rescuing the male from the locals at the bar, he discovers the he is actually a she, on the run and covered in bruises from abuse. Valerie ran away from the man her father sold her to for breeding since she is part cat shifter. She trusts no one, especially men, but desperately needs a job and has always loved horses. She goes home with Wyatt and excepts his job offer even though she thinks it was offered in pity, because she could still be in danger and just wants to be safe for the first time in her life. Wyatt befriends her and fights a constant battle against desire and possessive protectedness towards Valerie. He will do anything to keep her safe and to convince her that not all men are scum, that some are worth trusting and loving. The whole series is just fantastic!!! I can't wait to see what's next...maybe a certain tiger...???
Wyatt is a cougar shifter without a mate or any family. He envies his friends but is not quite ready for making a lifetime commitment. When a stranger comes asking for a job, he knows something is up and doesn't suspect their true secret. When he realizes it is a woman on the run, he gives her a job. Valerie is not used to any kindness from men and has a hard time adjusting but begins to view him as a friend. She is not looking to submit to any man and as both of their feelings start to deepen it scares them both. They also have to deal with her past once and for all.
I enjoyed the story. I liked that Valerie was a strong woman who didn't expect others to take care of her. She just wanted a chance to be free and was not afraid of hard work. When she realized her feelings were changing for Wyatt, she was honest with him even when that hurt him. Wyatt is a kind man and he likes his comforts. He was missing that feeling of having someone special in his life but reluctant to make a change due to his parents and their issues. He does open himself up to Valerie and take a chance. They have great chemistry and he teaches her how to enjoy her sexuality.
