I've really enjoyed this series and am sad that it's over. I like Sassy and Bridgy and would love to eat at the Read 'Em and Eat. It was really fun having their moms come down in this one. The mystery was good and the setting makes me feel like I'm on vacation.

Best Friends, Business owners, A Book themed cafe called Read Èm and Eat in a picturesque beach town in Florida. Best friends, Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield are. my most favourite aspect of Read to Death besides the mystery was the book clubs that are held there and their literary themes tables and treats prepared by chef Miguel, the one book club you would find me in would be The Potluck Book Club but I digress.

Read to death happens to revolve around their Cool Read/Warm Climate Book Club and their trip to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, a historical and educational trip after they each read The Florida Life of Thomas Edison. I loved getting to know each of the book club ladies on the bus ride and Margo who is from Windsor, Ontario the city I happen live in was a treat to read and a great surprise. I felt like I was right along for the ride with them.

Once back at Read Èm and Eat Bridgy finds their bus driver and known troublemaker, Oscar Frieland dead with scissors protruding from his neck and once Bridgy is found as a person of interest to the local police, their mom's who are also sisters decide to pay a visit but with the sisters life- long grudge, their visit may not be all that enjoyable for Sassy and Bridgy. When one of the Cool Reads/Warm Climate Book club members goes missing and also someone who could possibly have the key that unlocks who the murderer is Sassy starts snooping around to find clues that lead to the killer.

A perfect mystery for your summer reading list. These feisty gals, Bridgy and Sassy are Best Friends's Forever who find the crime then solve it. This close knit bunch of family and friends is what makes Read to Death a sure fire winner. I love the kind of mysteries that play over and over in my mind when i'm reading and long after the story is finished and this one sure has If you love books, food and mystery your in for a bumpy ride.Author Terri Farley Moran penned a fast pased new favorite for me in the series I can't wait to read and review the next book in this series.

Amidst the colorful canvas of Florida's coastline and its historic landmarks around Ft. Myers's Beach; best friends Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield have turned their Bookstore/Cafe, Read Em and Eat, into a rousing success. As the snowbirds who winter there meet in the Cool Reads/Warm Climate bookclub for the last time this season, a shocking murder is taking place outside the cafe. When sweet natured Bridgy discovers the body she becomes the number one suspect, and to everyone's dismay is questioned over and over by police.

As usual, Aunt Ophie is in the middle of everything in her sky-high heels, providing laughs throughout this pleasurable cozy mystery. Her sister, Emelia, (Bridgy's mom) shows up along with Sage, (Sassy's mom), and much needed support and mirth are in abundance. Miguel helps by cooking his wonderful dishes and acting as peacekeeper.

Terrie Farley Moran pens a fantastic story radiating with intrigue, warmth, and humor. Her characterization is so memorable the cast seem real enough to be old friends, and I actually think about them between books. Yummy recipes are located at the end of the story. This series is excellent!

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Having long anticipated this third book in the Read ‘Em And Eat Mysteries, I was thrilled to see author Terrie Farley Moran did not disappoint!

I have adored this series since the since chapter one of the first book, WELL READ, THEN DEAD. Author Moran has a writing style that is so light and fluid, reading her stories is a pure joy.

I was ecstatic to be back in Florida and the Read ‘Em And Eat bookstore café with Sassy and Bridgy, and all the wonderful characters in this amazing series. As with the two books before, READ TO DEATH was a fun, and exciting mystery that I couldn’t put down! The plot for this story was so extremely well done. It pulled me in and kept me captivated as I tried to guess the who and why.

You need to add READ TO DEATH! And if you haven’t already, get the first two books as well. You will not be sorry!

Take a peek in the back of the book and you’ll find a savory, and a sweet recipe sure to my your tummy growl!

Dollycas’s Thoughts

The Cool Reads/Warm Climate Book Club goes on a field trip but it ends badly. The van driver, Oscar, is killed on the van after all the book club members have scurried off. Bridgy ends up finding his body when she returns to look for her missing sunglasses and that makes her the prime suspect for his death. Everyone knows she is innocent but the police don’t appear to be looking for other suspects. Before Bridgy is reading her books in a jail cell she and Sassy with the help of their friends do their best to find the real killer.

I have escaped right into all three books in this series. Sassy and Bridgy are fabulous characters and I wish the Read ‘Em and Eat bookstore café actually existed because I want to visit and meet them, Miguel, Ophie, and all the other characters that come through the doors. I really enjoy reading about the teenage book group and all the things they do.

The plot was terrific, just as I knew it would be. Plenty of suspects with plenty of twists. As each suspect was eliminated the focus kept returning to our Bridgy. When things seemed too dire Ophie always came to the rescue to brighten things up. Things were a little tense when her sister, Bridgy’s mom, came to town but Sassy’s mom came too and that helped to lift the tension. These women love to shop and you can’t stay mad when you are shopping.

Of course the setting was pure bliss and we get to see many different places as the girl’s investigation continued. We also traveled to some touristy spots to keep one certain mother out of Miguel’s kitchen.

An truly captivating cozy! Great characters with great relationships, an intriguing whodunit in a delightful setting! I can’t wait to return to the Read ‘Em and Eat!

I highly recommend the entire series!

This was the first Ream 'Em and Eat Mystery that I have read, having won the book in the Goodreads giveaways. This just wasn't for me.

The story was really just about the girls daily life running a diner and book club. The real mystery of the book is why it's called a Mystery at all. The author does not really get into viable suspects until 200 pages in. And when the murder is solved, it is more of a side note where you are told it's solved but not really any more about it.

I ended up skimming quite a few of the pages that just went on, and on, and on about what was being served for breakfast or lunch in the diner. To me, it was borderline boring.

This book has a good story, but it is buried in tons and tons of repetition.

The descriptions are very wordy, and descriptions of the same places are repeated several times.

There is so much made of the influence of "the moms" that it makes them seem unreal. The Heap a Jeep and the shiny red Ford Escort are mentioned so many times that instead of being able to picture them, one wants to trade them both in!

A good cozy mystery that is the third in the series. I have not read the first two which met, a disadvantage of knowing the characters and what they did. Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield co-own a cafe and bookstore. They plan tours on special books and authors. Returning from one, the bus driver is found stabbed to death. Sassy is the main suspect in the murder. Their Moms arrive a for visit bringing additional troubles. Special adventures are interspaced between the visits from various police officers. The ending will surprise you. I recommend you read this series in order.

Read To Death is the third book in the A Read 'Em And Eat Mystery series.

Another wonderful and sunny visit to Ft. Myers Beach, FL and a stop at the Read”Em and Eat Cafe to visit with Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield.

Time is getting close for the “snowbirds” to migrate to their Northern homes and Sassy and Bridgy are planning a trip to the Edison and Ford estates with the members of their Cool Reads/Warm Climate Book Club. Upon returning to Read “Em, everyone is scurrying around retrieving their souvenirs, when Bridgy realizes that she must have left her sunglasses in the van they had used. But what she finds is Oscar, their driver, dead, with scissors protruding from his neck. Of course, the police begin to look at Bridgy as a person of interest, especially after they learn that her first words after having found Oscar were: “He's dead. I am so sorry”.

Sassy knows she has to do what it will take to prove Birdgy's innocence.

This book has a very interesting and often times quite humorous subplot. To be at her daughter side in this time strife, Emelia, Bridgy's mother comes to town for support, in addition, Sage, Sassy's mom, also comes. Aunt Ophelia and Emelia have been like “water and oil” for a number of years. So, in the middle of searching for a killer, Sassy and Bridgy also need to entertain their mothers and try their best to make sure Ophelia and Emelia are apart as much as possible. Both of these ladies will provide the reader with a lot of chuckles, particularly Sage

Most all of the characters from the previous books are back once again. Also Lt. Frank Anthony, the lead investigator is back, once again ruffling Sassy's feathers. As is Deputy Ryan Mantoni is back hoping that he will have enough time to enjoy a slice of Aunt Ophelia's buttermilk pie. Tony and Skully are also back to help Sassy deal with some of the local watermen.

Delicious recipes are also included.

I will definitely be watching for the next book in this fun series.

I’m always excited to pay another visit to Fort Myers Beach, Florida and meet up with the Read ‘Em and Eat Bookstore Café owners, Sassy and Bridgy. They are two best friends who opened their own bookstore/café combo. They book discussions at their café which features tables named after famous authors.

This time it’s Bridgy in the hot seat. After taking their book club on a field trip to the Thomas Edison and Ford Winter Estates, Bridgy discovers their van driver, Oscar, dead in their parking lot. The police are unable to find any other suspects so their focus is on Bridgy as the killer. No one really believes she would have done it, but the evidence is pointing in her direction.

Frustrated with the way the investigation is turning towards her best friend, Sassy sticks her nose right in the middle – much to the dismay of the police lieutenant. As Sassy’s snooping doesn’t seem to be uncovering any new evidence, they are becoming more and more nervous. To calm things down a bit, Sassy and Bridgy’s mothers arrive on the scene to help, but their idea of help is just confusing things and adding more stress than they already have on their shoulders.

This story has everything from humor to mystery combined for some fun in the Florida sunshine. The relationships between Sassy, Bridgy and their mothers is sweet, touching and even funny at times. I enjoyed every minute of this fast-paced, well-written cozy mystery. Terri Farley Moran has outdone herself with the third book in the series. I’m really hoping this series will be continuing.

Really 3.5 stars, but I rounded up.

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Berkley and Netgalley. All thoughts stated in this review are entirely my own.*

This is series is one of the series currently in danger of being cancelled by Berkley. It's an honest-to-goodness shame that that's the case because this series has so much potential! So, please go out and buy the first, second, or third book in this series and give it a chance. I truly believe that, given a few more books, this series will shine.

This book started slow for me; I honestly found the first 1/3 tedious, however after that the book started gaining momentum and the last third of the book was a solid 4 star read. Because of that I settled for a 3.5 star rating.

Sassy is an absolutely stand-out character. She jumps a little too eagerly into investigations, but in the end it works because Sassy jumps headfirst into everything. This book was slightly different in the fact that it didn't merely focus on the mystery, it also had a strong secondary plotline of Sassy and Bridgy's relationships with their mothers. Ir added a lot to the story and I hope that if this series continues we see more of the mothers.

The mystery was very solid. The killer took me by surprise and I loved the events leading up to the unveiling! The setting is beautiful as always. I'd absolutely love to visit the herb farm Sage went to!

Overall a solid book that I enjoyed. I will read another one and I recommend that you help #saveourcozies by buying one of these books!

Come on down to Ft. Myers Beach and join us at the Read ‘Em and Eat Bookstore Café, the third book in the Read ‘Em and Eat mystery series This is a new series for me and I had to catch up on the characters but it didn’t take long.
The story begins when a book club led by Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield, owners of the Read ‘Em and Eat Bookstore Café, lead a small group on a road trip to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Prior to the trip the “clubbies” read the book The Florida Life of Thomas Edison.
After packing food and drink into a rented van from Gulf Coast Cab and Van the ladies set off on the trip with their regular van driver Oscar Frieland who enjoyed joking and teasing the “clubbies.”
After a fun filled excursion the ladies returned to the bookstore and scattered through the parking lot before having drinks and snacks at the café. All were busy when Bridgy discovered her sunglasses were missing so she went back to the van and found Oscar dead in the van.
Now the sheriff office has questions for Bridgy, who is very upset at finding a body while her best friend Sassy starts to do some investigating of her own.

READ TO DEATH is a fun, lighthearted read that is character driven. The senior citizen group has some quirky characters, such as Bridgy’s Aunt Ophie. There is tension and mystery surrounding the fallout Aunt Ophie had with Bridgy’s mother and the subplot weaves nicely with the story Sassy’s mother, who calls herself Sage at the moment, has a free spirit keeping everyone on their toes and provides some humor. I also enjoyed the historical facts woven into this cozy mystery. I had no idea that both Edison and Ford wintered in Florida! I missed Oscar after he was murdered because he was a great tour guide providing all sorts of insight into the history of the area.

The author cleverly provides funny nicknames for so many things such as Sassy’s Heap-A-Jeep. She has also creatively named the food items sold in the cafe to correspond with books, such as Old Man and the Sea Chowder and My Secret Garden Salad. In addition to a cute culinary cozy, Terrie also includes a couple recipes with her book. The one that I was instantly drawn to and tried is the Drunken Raisin Scones....a delectable, super flavorful tender pastry that has become a new favorite!

Bookstore café co-owner Sassy Cabot is dismayed when her partner Bridgy is suspected of murder. The van driver from their book club’s latest excursion has been found dead in their parking lot. Since Bridge found him under suspicious circumstances, the police focus their investigation on her. It’s up to Sassy and friends to uncover the killer. Fun references to the southwest coast of Florida in the Fort Myers area pepper the story with added spice. Read to Death is an easy-to-read mystery to enjoy under the Florida sun.

Hhmmm, this story revolved around the Mom's and friends and less about the mystery-? I did like it I remembered near the end that the story's focus was so far off that the murder that I was no longer thinking of it!? This series is a bit confusing

Review:

It is so refreshing to spend a few days with Sassy and Bridgy in Fort Myers Beach again! And to learn something new while reading their latest adventure is kind of like the icing between the layers of a cake – something sweet that brings a little added substance to enhance the whole experience. ‘Read to Death’ is the suspenseful yet still delightful third novel in the ‘Read ‘Em and Eat Mystery’ series, which can be read as a standalone or as part of the series.

It is spring, and time for the winter visitors to head north, including those in the book clubs led at the Read ‘Em and Eat cafe. The final book read about Thomas Edison’s and two other famous, contemporary innovators winter visits to Fort Myers led the club to choose to rent a van and driver to visit the Florida homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Sassy and Bridgy went on the morning trip with the club, joined by Bridgy’s Aunt Ophie. The driver kept the ladies entertained with stories of his younger days in Atlantic City as well as what he knew about Edison from his early days growing up in New Jersey.

The ladies returned to the cafe for lunch; when Bridgy noticed she was missing her sunglasses, Sassy suggested she look in the van as it was still in the parking area. Sadly, Bridgy found more than her sunglasses…she found the van driver on board, dead. Murdered, with nobody else nearby. Which left Bridgy as the primary suspect because she was found alone with the body.

The characters that the author has included in this series work so well together! Bridgy and Sassy have been friends forever, it seems like, and they know each other better than many friends do. Since opening the cafe, they have not taken time away just to have fun, yet they still have great dispositions. While there are sometimes surprises, this pair of friends is very well defined. Also well characterized are Ophie, Bridgy’s aunt, and Miguel, the cook. I really like all of the primary ‘regulars’. The less-defined but also important are Deputy Ryan, Lieutenant Frank Anthony, and Cady, the ladies’ long-term friend and reporter for the local newspaper. Some of the customers and book club members are only in one novel, and some in all of them, and they are defined as necessary for their roles. All, however, fit beautifully into each mystery in the series, important pieces of the same puzzle.

‘Read to Death’ is written with excellence; the author is great with dialog that sounds as normal as what one would hear around us each day – worry, humor, business, and family dynamics. The plot is interesting, having had grabbed my attention from the first page and keeping it captive through the end. There was seat-grabbing suspense, plot twists that changed the course of the investigation, and at times there were no other suspects. I loved the visit from the mothers; it brought just the right amount of love, frustration, and comic relief to the story! It also reminds us of the relationships between adult daughters and their mothers. Of course, not every mother has a daughter who tries to investigate murders on her own, but when the stakes are high, Bridgy and Sassy are willing to go the distance for each other. I also appreciated learning bits about Thomas Edison and Henry Ford that I had not previously known.

The ending, while somewhat of a surprise, was entirely satisfying, leaving this reader looking forward to the next one in the series! I highly recommend ‘Read to Death’ to cozy mystery lovers who enjoy the cafe/ bookstore setting and a well-planned, finely executed story with delightful, memorable characters.

Sassy and Bridgy are all set to take their reading group to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates to wrap up the book club season. The snow birds will be heading back north soon and what a way to tie in their last book, The Florida Life of Thomas Edison, with local Florida culture and have the club go out with a bang. Except, Oscar, their driver has managed to ruffle some feathers among the women in the group, whether intentional or not. After arriving back at the cafe, Bridgy finds Oscar dead, and becomes murder suspect number one.

Knowing that Bridgy wasn't the one who killed Oscar but had the unfortunate experience of finding him, Sassy makes it her mission to help any way she can....even when it messes with the police investigation. Frank and Ryan have a ton of patience where Sassy is concerned. Sassy doesn't actually put herself into too much danger in Read to Death; she gets involved but doesn't do too much alone that gets her trapped in unfortunate situations.

As with the other two books in the series, there are several themes woven into this novel. Some are not about the murder, such as the issues between Bridgy's mother and aunt. Sometimes sisters just have issues and it apparently takes coming together to support Bridgy for them to be aired out. We also get to see Sassy's mother, Sage, when she flies to Florida with Bridgy's mother. Red herrings are tossed about liberally to keep the reader from guessing who actually killed Oscar, although, I pretty much had it figured out way before the reveal. It doesn't detract from the story though, because as we go along, we learn a lot about Oscar and the reasons that put him the sights of a murderer.

I really wish, though, that there was some sort of romance budding in this series. I find it a part of cozy mysteries that is lacking in this one. Not a huge issue or even one that affects my review but disappointing none-the-less. The way Sassy and Frank argue could be thought as romantic banter/frustration but I hate to misconstrue it since there has been nothing in Read to Death that indicates anything. I'm not sure about Cady's role in Sassy's life either, beyond journalist and friend. A couple things happen between them but Sassy brushes them off and doesn't revisit anything.

Overall, I really enjoyed Read to Death and found it to be a smooth flowing, easy read. The novel is engaging and pulled me in right from the beginning. There aren't any slow areas and everything seems pretty consistent. I love the way Sassy and Bridgy have fully integrated into their new city now. They have regulars that visit the cafe and have really built up clientele including numerous different book clubs. Aunt Ophie and Miguel are excellent supporting characters that help things run smoothly in the cafe when Sassy and Bridgy put on their sleuthing hats.

I hope to hear soon that Book 4 is in the works :)

This novel was really filled with friendship, family, and the fear associated with viewing a felony crime such as murder!

Our Café team, Sassy, and Bridgy take their book club on it's end of season field trip. They have a very entertaining driver to the Edison and Ford Homes and Edison Lab (Winter homes.) The driver is perhaps too entertaining? Or, does he know too much about one passenger? Or, is it a random crime. All Sassy knows is that she needs to protect her BFF and now!

This was the best of the first three novels for me. I felt the franticness and time beating by throughout the tale. It is a scary time for our friends. Luckily their Mom's arrive to stand by their girls with love and their individual uniqueness. I love the Moms! Now I want to meet the Dads!

This mystery was a solid one and I truly enjoyed it.

Read to Death by Terrie Farley Moran is the third book in A Read ‘Em and Eat Mystery series. Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield are taking the Cool Reads Warm Climate Book Club on an outing to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. The tour ties in with the book The Florida Life of Thomas Edison the group just finished reading. Everyone has a good time and they return to Red ‘Em and Eat in high spirits. Bridgy forgot her sunglasses in the van and goes out to retrieve them. Upon hearing a scream, Sassy runs out to investigate. Their van driver, Oscar Frieland is dead. The police are called and Lt. Frank Anthony shows up (assigned the case). Everyone is separated and held for questioning. Bridgy ends up the main suspect (she just went to get sunglasses) and that does not sit well with Sassy. Sassy is determined to find the culprit. Of course, Bridgy’s mother, Emelia decides to come visit and brings Sassy’s mother, Sage with her (this should be interesting). Can the group find out who killed Oscar before Bridgy ends up in the brig?

Read to Death is nicely written and had a good pace which made for an easy to read book. The mystery was a bit of a letdown. Oscar made a comment (before he died), and I knew he would be the victim. A comment from someone else told me the name of the killer before the murder even occurred. I liked the setting of the novel in Fort Myers Beach. It was interesting to read about their trip to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates (I have always wanted to visit). I liked most of the characters in the book the one exception was Sage, Sassy’s mother. I thought she was too over-the-top and extremely annoying (and pushy instead of funny). I give Read to Death 3.5 out of 5 stars. I just felt that book was lacking. We get quite a bit of information about the city, the sites, and books. I wish the author had put a more work into the mystery as she did the research on the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. I found some information to be repeated a few times and there were way too many references (more than eight) to the Heap-a-Jeep (the main characters’ car). Will I read the next book in A Read ‘Em and Eat Mystery series? Of course. This could have just been an off book in an otherwise enjoyable series.

I received a complimentary copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review. The comments and opinions expressed are strictly my own.

READ TO DEATH by Terrie Farley Moran
The Third Read 'Em and Eat Mystery

Sassy and Bridgy give their Cool Reads/Warm Climate book club a grand finale by hosting a tour of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Upon their return to the Read 'em and Eat Cafe however, an ending they never expected occurs. Bridgy, instead of finding her lost sunglasses, finds the body of their murdered bus driver. Her unusual apology when Sassy appears on the scene has sheriff's deputies raising eyebrows so Sassy quickly calls in legal reinforcements. Surely Bridgy isn't responsible, but who is? The book club member who seems to have disappeared, a sailor with a grudge, someone from his past? When being questioned by law enforcement, not only is it handy to have a lawyer, but it's good to have your mother-so both Bridgy and Sassy's moms arrive to provide support, even though friction remains rife between Bridgy's mom and aunt. Can the Brice babes get along? Will Bridgy be exonerated? Will Sassy play nice with Lieutenant Anthony?

Sharing details about life in Florida brings readers right into Sassy and Bridgy's world, whether it's emergency preparedness planning for hurricanes or shopping in unique boutiques. I love being an armchair traveler and READ TO DEATH also gave me the opportunity to learn about the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Moran delves a bit deeper into familial relationships in this book. The bond between mothers and daughters, as well as sisters, is explored. While troubles and differences are part and parcel of being a family, so is love and support.

Terrie Farley Moran gives us another winner with READ TO DEATH. Adjusting to life with the snowbirds and their inevitable departure creates a different sense of community, but that sense of community is strong in her Read 'Em and Eat series. Unique characters filled with personality inhabit her pages providing plenty of fodder for the mysteries they encounter.

This book was so good I did not want it to end.
It can be read as our enjoyment as a cozy but pay attention and catch all the connections and references to other genres and topics. It is a blast! And then the moms show up.

Bridgey is being grilled and Sassy keeps fishing for clues. Miguel has a knack for calming any storm with just the right dish. Each time I think there is no more room in a day, another bookclub pops up. How will the friends have time to solve a murder when they don't even know the motive?

Each character adds something special in this combination.
I wish we had somewhere as interesting as Read Em and Eat near me.
You'll find your interest growing as the stash of information expands but until the end you'll keep changing your thoughts on who did it.

I did receive a copy of this book to review for a blog tour.

Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield are at it again in Read to Death at the Read ‘Em and Eat Café. This time, they take the “Cool Reads/Warm Climate” book club on their annual field trip to the Edison-Ford estate for an outing, with their favorite driver, Oscar, at the helm. It’s a wonderful trip, and Oscar makes sure to tell them all about the history of the estate—with stories about Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Harvey Firestone.

But, when they get back from the trip, Oscar is found dead. The book club members are immediately considered suspects, and so are Sassy and Bridgy. So, they must figure out how and why Oscar was killed.

TOO MANY PLOT LINES! This is the third I've read in this series. Not my favorite at all. Too many characters and the entire MAIN plot was lost somewhere in the ramblings and jumping stories with too many different characters at the same time. It made my head spin. The actual "murder" plot was treated as an offhanded sideline. Started out well, but just could not keep the momentum going. Favorite characters were shifted to the back and barely heard of. If this was a way to introduce the "moms" maybe a more concentrated focus on that would have been the way to go. Hoping the next installment refocuses on the actual plot with less "stuff" tossed in. Disappointed.

With book in my hand and cat on my lap I dove into Read To Death, quickly reacquainting myself with the characters, setting, culture and history provided in the first few chapters. The entire time I was thinking about Florida and easily picturing in my mind the places that Terrie describes. I love a healthy dose of true history in my cozy series as it makes them feel so real! The mystery was fun to unravel with Sassy and I enjoyed getting to the bottom or this mystery! I could not put it down and read it cover to cover Friday night! Time well spent!

Bookstore café owners and childhood friends Sassy and Bridgy take one of their book groups to local points of interest, hiring colorful Oscar Frieland to drive. After they return to the bookstore, Bridgy finds Oscar dead--and somehow becomes the chief suspect. Two things happen: Bridgy's mother comes to visit, bringing Sassy's mother with her, and Sassy decides she can't trust the police to clear Bridgy and starts detecting on her own. There's a lot more about the café than the bookstore, and even more touristy descriptions.

I was a little disappointed in this one. There wasn't really much to the mystery at all. And most of the time, the book focused just on the two girls and their moms. I didn't get why THIS mystery brought in the involvement of the AG.

And for #*&%s sake, Y'ALL does not refer to one person! Only someone who's not from the South and has little exposure to Southern people would make that mistake, yet one recurring character here does it all the time and another character even did it in this one.

This time Sassy and Bridgy take a group of book club members to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Their van driver, Oscar, gets killed after everyone returns to the cafe and the police keep talking to Bridgy because she found the body. Sassy of course sets out to find the real murderer. Both Sassy and Bridgy's mothers come for visit to help and bring comfort to the girls.Learned a little early Florida history. The book was a quick easy read.

While this is the third book in the series, it is the first I have read. It was easy to get to know all the characters without going back to the first two books.

The characters are fun and realistic, and the mystery keeps you turning pages, anxious to see how it all plays out. I read the story in one day, because I simply couldn't put it down!

Family can always be counted on

How nice it was to meet and get to know the moms and see how much they love their daughters. You see Bridgy has been accused of a murder she didn't commit and both moms rush to her aid. They even put aside Bridgys moms fight with Aunt Ophie. Terrie Fraley Moran has written another wonderful look into the lives of two young women trying to live in a world that keeps throwing dead bodies at them. I can't wait for the next book to come out.
