When following God’s Will may keep her from following her heart…
Charlotte Mason believes that it’s God’s will for her to be a mail order bride. But while on her way to meet her groom, her bags and tickets are accidentally switched with wealthy heiress, Adelaide Delaney. With the plans for her life hijacked, Charlotte finds herself forced to play the part of a railroad tycoon’s fiancé.
Unfortunately, the role is a tall order for a simple girl from Georgia. Plagued by hilarious mishaps, Charlotte must unravel the mystery of God’s will and find where she belongs.
In the end, Charlotte must choose whether to follow her heart or her mission to be a mail order bride.
"Bride by Request" is Book 2 in the "Brides by Mail" series.
Definitely on the better end of the brides by mail books. I enjoyed the predicaments the main character found herself in and appreciated her striving to be truthful even a situation that appeared to be better if she lied.
The Brides by Mail series is so much fun! I enjoyed Addie and her predicaments. It didn’t seem like Charlotte could possibly be anywhere near as wonderful. No spoilers on the situations ;o) Just know that Charlottes’ story is every bit as good as Addies’!
My main complaint with this book is that the story seemed too rushed. However, it was a light-hearted story that made me chuckle. I enjoyed it, though I wouldn't read it a second time.
GOD’S WILL ISN’T A STRAIGHT TRACK. THERE ARE A LOT OF CURVES THAT HE LEADS US THROUGH What a great continuation from book 1, Bride of Pretense. This story has wonderful Christian principles and reminders too that sometimes God leads us on a path different from what we chose because that’s where He wants us to be. Recap from one, two affianced women traveling, one wealthy, one poor, two carpetbags getting mixed up. Two women now going to the wrong groom, but God does not make mistakes.
Charlotte Mason is a breath of fresh air for Blake Trent. He has met his intended bride, Adelaide Delaney in New York. When he learns from Charlotte of the mix up in luggage and tickets, they are placed on the spot for a dinner engagement. How can a poor girl whose mother was a cook pull off being from a wealthy family? There were so many laughing out loud moments in this story. It is fun, clean, and refreshing, I loved the characters, their interactions, the chemistry, and dialog. I look forward to book 3 and there is a chapter at the end of this book to whet our appetite for a new adventure. Disclosure: I have been gifted a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.
Bride by Request written by Amanda Tru and Cami Wesley, was a fun read! My favorite character in this book was Charlotte as she seemed to get into a predicament around each bend. She is well aware that she is not of "high birth" and yet she is well educated so she is very smart. Charlotte feels she should be a Mail Order Bride because she prayed and had peace about it...once upon a time. Now that she has found herself in a little bit of a mixed up mess as a Mail Order Bride she forgets she needs to pray for further guidance, yet she really doesn't. "Yesterday's mail" has come to haunt her! It's fun to read of her adventurous stunts. It's a great companion to book 1, Bride of Pretense, as it completes the story with Charlotte's side of the happenings. I recommend this read! I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really liked this book. It wasn't as witty as the first one but I think that was just because the characters weren't meant to be witty. It did fill in all the gaps the first one lacked in and it was great to get Charlotte's story. I think that way the way they intended them to go. That you need to read both to feel the complete story. This is a fun series of books so far! I think number 3 is going to be very interesting I can't wait! All in all great job ladies once again!
I was so thrilled to see the other half of the story from Bride of Pretense. The portion that I had felt like lacked emotion in the first book was cleared up and handled nicely in this one. I loved that. And like with the first book, Bride by Request was another laugh out loud mail order bride story. Sadly, the romance felt a tad bit one dimensional in this one, but I still found it to be a light and enjoyable read and am giving it 5 stars.
I think this story would have been much better if these two books had been combined and, perhaps, the author alternated between Addie and Charlotte's situations, weaving both stories together in the same book.
