I read this for a book study through my school and I truly hated it. There was nothing new in this and if your school has any sort of RTI program in it, you’ve heard this all a million times (also true if you’ve ever read anything published by Solution Tree).
The best thing I can say about this book is at least I got paid to read it.
This book provides teachers with a basis for creating lesson plans and a classroom setting that will enhance student engagement, learning and concept mastery. It provides teachers with resources to develop a strong common core for their class by incorporating essential standards, evidence based practices, meaningful/relevant/student centered instructions, important skills and promote concept mastery. It addresses how to use pluralized teaching strategies; incorporating technology and multimodal approaches can help student engagement and promote learning. It discusses how to collect and use data to tweak instruction and how to build lessons to create depth, rigor and complexity. Essentially it helps teachers by giving examples and resources to build a solid lesson plan that helps all students learn based on principles that benefit those with disabilities and to build on where students are at that gets them to become masters of the content.
