Great book. I loved how the colour photos included concept art from the film. That was a nice and creative touch. I loved the little sketches along the pages. Great details, the inclusions of the dinosaurs' names was great. I know I'll be in tears when I see the movie.

Arlo, seekor anak Dinosaurus yang terlahir dengan ukuran paling kecil di antara saudara kandungnya. Dialah yang paling penakut dan mudah panik. Seluruh anggota keluarganya berhasil melakukan tindakan besar, sedangkan dia masih diliputi kecemasan dan ketakutan 😔

Suatu malam, ayahnya mengajarinya melawan rasa takut. Tapi celaka, ayahnya justru hilang tersapu banjir yang datang tiba-tiba! 🌊 Arlo semakin merasa bersalah dan ketakutan 😭

Novel ini cukup tipis, tapi banyak pelajaran di dalamnya:
• Rasa takut itu akan selalu ada, datang dan pergi silih berganti. Kita tidak harus melawannya, tapi kita harus mencari cara untuk mengendalikannya!
• Keberanian itu tidak datang secara tiba-tiba, butuh proses untuk memunculkannya. Ada beragam tantangan yang perlu ditakutkan terlebih dahulu! ✨
• Kadang yang awalnya kita anggap musuh justru bisa menjadi sahabat ☺️

Awalnya ku kira ini adalah buku anak yang banyak gambarnya, ternyata aku salah. Ini adalah novel tentang pencarian jati diri, diceritakan dalam bentuk fabel. Sedikit kekurangannya, menurutku terjemahannya agak susah dipahami. Banyak kalimat yang sudah dicerna juga (atau mungkin dari bahasa aslinya sudah seperti itu?) 😔 Meskipun begitu, sebenarnya ceritanya sangat menarik! Aku jadi penasaran sama animasinya juga 😄

The characters, while cartoony, were also rendered nicely. Their facial expressions, combined with a gorgeous score and environment, are what told this story. The story line is familiar, but fresh (think Lion King meets Homeward Bound). There are alot of good lessons to be learned for younger viewers... the importance of family, friendship and 'making your mark' in life. Overcoming your fears was a huge theme in the film.. There was one scene in particular that had very little dialogue but was perhaps the most beautiful piece of cinema ive seen all year. Im not an emotional person by any stretch, but it nearly had me bawling.

Prehistoric. Simple. Cute.

I love this movie (it makes me cry every time!). The book didn’t have quite the same effect but it was very sweet. Quite simplistic in its execution but the story was just as heartwarming on the page as it was on the screen.
I look forward to the day I can read this to my class.

I read this to my 7 and 9 year old. This 'junior novelization' of a recent Disney movie was extremely well written with a lot of mature and exciting vocabulary used to describe the adventures of Arlo the dinosaur and Spot the primative human. The two have a journey in which they start as adversaries and end as the best of friends. They come across pterodactyls with evil motives, violent rain storms and flash floods, meet T-Rexes on a longhorn drive, and Arlo learns how to channel his fears into bravery. My family had already seen the movie but the word pictures painted by the author and the solid story kept us all very entertained throughout.

No sé si originalmente fue mal escrito o fue la traducción, pero la redacción del libro es terrible. Leerlo en voz alta fue una tortura. Todo el libro está lleno de textos de este tipo: "Arlo se levantó. Arlo vió que el dinosaurio lo atacaba. Arlo se agachó. El dinosaurio trató de tomar la pata de Arlo, pero Arlo no dejó que el dinosaurio lo atrapara". Y así. El libro es corto, pero se me hizo eterno leérselo a mis hijos.

I'm not sure I want to see another animated dinosaur movie. The story just seems alright, not anything super special. I'm sure I'll eventually see the movie after it comes out, but I don't really have high hopes.
