Every day my life becomes more in danger. The only way to survive might be to enter the Oblivion and relive my forgotten memories. But my mind may be even more dangerous than reality.
Jessica Sorensen is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author from the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family.
This is like watching an hour-long TV drama where I have to wait at least 6 months before I can watch the next episode! I'm struggling to understand why I have to read this story in such short segments. It's good and engaging but being published a few chapters at a time is ridiculous. I think I'll put the next one (or several since I have no clue how many are to follow) on hold until they're all out and I can have a reasonable segment to read. I want to feel like I have an actual story to immerse myself in. This is not how reading is meant to be. Trilogies are about as drawn out as you should take a single story. At least each one provides all the story elements to satisfy a reader while keeping her in interested in waiting to read more.
We're now three books in, and no closer to having any of the questions from book 1 answered. None of them. That is so annoying to me, and I always tell myself I'm not going to read any of her books until they're all published. Maybe after this series I'll remember that, because to me, this book was nothing but filler, and wasn't needed.
Oblivion is going to be taken differently for fans. Some are going to enjoy it while others are going to possibly be aggravated because we no closer to getting any answers.
Oblivion to me felt like a filler book. There are part that were necessary to this story and others that felt just like filler.
We get to learn more about this world and the different "species" in it. We get some backstory on both Blaise and Allura through the Oblivion - which is their memories. However, it's not exactly what you think. They can manipulate their memories in certain ways. And it's in the Oblivion that we meet a character.
And that's pretty much the book. LOL The rest is a lot of filler and at times felt either confusing or borderline boring.
I am curios to see how Jessica is going to tie all this together and hopefully start giving us some answers.
For a series that started out so strong, I'm beyond disappointed at how poor the dialogue and storytelling has become. I'm officially giving up on this Novella series. The only person that didn't annoy the crap out of me was Blaise, and even he was borderline.
Please, please, make the fourth book come out right now !
The story grows more complex each book and it is interesting. We also learn more about Allura and Blaise, and what they are. I would love to see more of Ryder and Reece, but I guess it's gonna be their time to shine next book !
It is still a too short read, but I can't wait for the next one !!! Please be soon !!!
I love this series and I love Allura, Blaise, Reece and Ryder. We got some more info on Allura and Blaise. This whole book was more centered on the two of them. I need more though! Hoping the next book will be out shortly so we can find out what happened with Blaise and maybe get some more answers about the mystery man.
I can't wait for the next book. It just continues to get better. The story line is still filled with mystery even as more is revealed. The characters are multi-dimensional and you can't help but connect with them through the story.
so i read the reviews before i read the book and thought to myself great this is going to suck.. people saying its a 'filler book' .. WRONG, i thought it was brilliant. I still wants Blaise and mc to get together though...
It really annoys me how short these books are and how long it takes her to write each one. They are SO good. I wish she would just write the whole series or finish the dang book.
Another fantastic instalment. The story is so interesting and keeps you engrossed throughout. Definitely worth reading this series if you haven't already.
I think this series is intriguing enough to continue reading, but it doesn't have the impact of not being able to read fast enough. So, while I'll continue to read the series until complete, it's just an okay read. The emotional involvement just isn't deep enough.
4.5 stars I've been a big fan of this series since the beginning. So when an opportunity to receive an ARC of this book became available, I jumped on it. And was lucky enough to receive one from the publisher. The book picks up a few days after Forsaken concludes, following Allura and the doting Ryder the brooding protective Blaise and the ever calm and steady Reese. The world building and multitude of story plots keeps me very much engaged and reading -without pause- until I finish it, which is the positive side of the book only being 134 pages. This is not a book you can jump right into there are very little kickbacks to the previous two books and with so much going on I urge you to pick them all up and read them in order.
I did noticed *book 2 spoiler* that we weren't given an explanation for why Allura didn't heal after Calla stabbed her, and then she just was healed and it wasn't addressed again. There were a few incomplete storylines (from book 2 specifically) that I hope are vetted in the next book that regardless I will definitely be purchasing if I'm not lucky enough to snag another ARC.
I love the Broken City series Oblivion is no exception. I would rate these books a 5 if they were longer or came out monthly. The frustration level they cause me keeps them at a 4 star. I am addicted to the mystery of Allura and now Blaise and these broken worlds.
Oblivion helps the reader get some backstory on Allura and Blaise through their memories. It's a very inventive method and while it gives us some answers, it creates a whole new list of questions. Not much can be detailed without spoilers, but their lives are complicated. It did make me feel even more sympathy for Allura and love Blaise even more (didn't think that was possible!). We don't get much time with Reece and Ryder during this story, but they are still playing key roles. Each guy's adoration for Allura and her feelings for them is wonderful. I have to admit I am hoping that the ultimate outcome results in a RH. I don't want choices to be made. Each character is so great. Small detail, but I loved the compassbot. It's little details like this that elevate Jessica's books.
Oblivion by Jessica Sorensen was everything I was excited for and more. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the third book in this series. Now that I have, I am dying for book four. I need to know what happens like NOW.
Oblivion is going to have you on the edge of your seat and beyond anxious through the whole book. I was gasping, shocked, and all in all left a little broken. I was not expecting everything to go the way it did in this one.
So be prepared for lots of twists and turns and an ending that's going to leave you in a bundle of emotions and needing the next story. I always love and enjoy Jessica's books. This one goes right along with that theme. I adore how she pulls you in and you feel as if you're inside the book and going through the same things as the characters. I love and I mean LOVE Blaise.
I give Oblivion by Jessica Sorensen FIVE OUT OF FIVE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT STARS!
I have add all your Brocken City books to my favorite on my table and I would tell anyone to read it but I gave this book 4 stars because it was really short and I wait a hell of a long time for it to come out and I feel it was missing something but what do I know I love your books any way also I'm team Blaise all the way I love the hint of romance, action and so now also would so love for them to be together but your writing the book all I can do is read on and wait and see what happens but I would totally be heart broken if they didn't..............
I enjoy this series, I personally am not a very patient person, so I hate when I have to wait for the next book, but that's clearly a personal problem. Other then that, I enjoyed reading this book and will wait for the next one. I just hope that the next book is longer.
I swear this series is just a series of novellas. Each a handful of chapters perfectly timed and spaced to addict the reader and, in turn, piss them off be size we have to wait months for another few chapters. I'm not bitter. Nope. A little tart, but not bitter. I've said it for every book, and I will keep saying it. I can't wait for the next one.
