MISTAKEN IDENTITY: When someone attempts to kidnap SWAT cop Jenna Reed, what saves her is her training and the impeccable timing of her boss, Lieutenant Griff Vaughn. Then they find the real target hiding in the bushes, a runaway teen who is Jenna's look-alike and the sister she never knew she had. Teaming up to unravel her sister's past and find the human-trafficking thugs who intend to kill her, Jenna and Griff have no choice but to go on the run outside the law. But with time running out and their all-too-unprofessional attraction proving difficult to ignore can Jenna and Griff protect Jenna's sister and take down the criminals without sacrificing their careers or their lives? SWAT: Top Cops Love in the Line of Duty
Mirror Image is probably my favorite book in SWAT: Top Cops series, and this is saying something because I loved reading all the books in the series. Jenna is a tough yet vulnerable heroine, with painful past that made her stronger. It is admirable how she not only decided to never again be a victim herself but also helps victims of domestic violence at the women's shelter. She was already shown as a brave and capable member of SWAT team in the previous book, and it was great to get to know her better in Mirror Image. And Vaughn... Lieutenant Vaughn is just the match for her, and I'm glad he got his own story. It's a little sad that this is the last book in series, but I look forward to reading the next series by Laura Scott.
SWAT officer Jenna Reed thinks her boss, Lieutenant Griff Vaughn is all about following the rules. That is, until she is attacked and then learns that the runaway teen the find is her sister! Whoa!
When all three of them then become the objects of gun-toting thugs, Griff has no choice but to try to keep the sisters safe--even when it means putting himself in danger.
How these three manage to gain the upper hand is a story worthy of a reader's interest.
Exciting and satisfying conclusion to this series!
Jenna is coming home from a celebratory party when she is attacked right outside her home. Griff shows up in time to provide backup and shortly thereafter they find Claire, who looks just like Jenna but much younger. Soon they are fleeing from men attacking from all sides. Griff is not willing to call for help, but when they figure it it is a human trafficking scheme they can use all the help they can get. Can Griff and Jenna keep Claire safe and break up the trafficking ring? Can they keep their jobs when they go off-grid? Read this amazing conclusion to the SWAT: Top Cops series!
The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some kissing but no steam. The characters are vibrant and kickass. The Christian values are woven into the story and not just tacked on. This is an intense series packed with action and twists and turns. If that sounds like what you want in your Christian romances, then this is for you! Read these in order and enjoy!
What an awesome book. And, the good guys won. I'm so glad that particular human trafficking ring was closed down and the bad guys locked up. I pray that every human trafficking ring will be shut down in real life and God protect every female in the world from these monsters.
You Will love Laura's smooth story telling. Her faith shines throughout all the knuckle biting episodes. You won't regret your time spent reading her novels.
Mirror Image caught me up in the story right away. The twists and turns in the story line wouldn’t let me put the book down. The thread of God’s protection runs through the story as well.
final book in the Swat Top Cop series and the characters in the series. Grif and Jenna's story. Reminder about prayer for thanking God for answers and asking his help every day.
I liked this book's storyline. I liked the action in this story. I liked the Christian theme in this story. I liked Jenna's character. I liked Griff's character. I liked the ending.
This was just a 3 star read for me. It was really hard to connect to these characters and it took me weeks to read. I did finish it, but I think this was just a matter of personal preference.
I wanted to like this story more, despite the fact that the message was inspiring, there were flaws that I just couldn't ignore. From the very beginning Griff and Jenna ignored the protocols that are the basis of their professional integrity as police officers. They went so far as to involve their fellow officers in a rogue mission that could have seen every one of their friends disciplined. It wasn't as though there was a problem with Griff's boss, they merely speculated that the case would be taken away from them. For an "inspirational" romance it didn't offer much "faith" in their profession.
"As Griff’s character shows, many people focus on their careers as a distraction from life, particularly grief over past events. Jenna is an edgy character who is engaging to watch. A key takeaway from the characters is that we are not responsible for the sins of others" (4 stars @ RT Book Reviews).
Quick, heart-pounding (and, at times, wrenching) novel from Laura Scott! Excellent, fleshed out characters, exciting plot, climax, and conclusion. I have to admit, I'm still a little unsure what they didn't initially follow protocol, when there wasn't a suspicion of anyone being "dirty". That's generally what makes them go off the grid in these kinds of novels.
I WISH there was more and more and more of this book!!! I want to read about what happens after the last page. I'm so SAD to finish this book!!!! The book was sooo GREAT I read it in a couple of hours!!!!!
Definitely not something I would have picked up normally, but this was pretty good. It was fast-paced, action-packed, and still sweet. At times the book was a little too innocent for what was happening, but I peg that on the fact that it falls under inspirational. Overall, pretty solid.
