Wealthy Hudson Conrick attends a fund-raiser for The Village of Hope with Melody as his blind date. Having a good time with the pretty blond, he’s surprised and intrigued when she tells him she won’t go out with him again. But when his construction company wins the bid to expand the women’s shelter where she works, how will she be able avoid him on an everyday basis?
These two certainly send off sparks at first and not good ones! She can’t see past his riches and seemingly reckless lifestyle. He desperately wants to be known for something other than his money. His thinking is what is life without a little adventure? He also wants to escape his dad’s persistence in taking over the family business one day. Thrilled to have won the bid for his construction company and prove to his dad he can stand on his own; he begins to get to know Melody more. She has good reason to resist his charms. They have a lot to overcome if things are going to work out romantically! I liked Hudson’s down to earth personality and unassuming nature. I can sympathize with Melody’s reluctance and past hurtful relationship that keeps her back. I also love the fact that she turns to prayer for everything. She’s a great example to me as a Christian! This is a great story to add to this series. I loved getting to know Melody; she’s someone I can see myself befriending. She has a compassionate & loving heart for hurting women & children. I can imagine her being a wonderful wife and mom someday! Hudson is more than just a wealthy man, he has a warm hearted nature and there is no pretense with him. What you see is what you get! He truly wants to help others and has the means to do so. The surprise he plans for Melody is beyond sweet and endured me to him even more! This was one series by Merrillee that I really enjoyed. The faith threads, prayer life lived out, friendships & even a budding romance made it sweet addition to the first two stories.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review which I have given here. Thank you Merrillee, I certainly hope there will be more books to come!**
Wealth vs. modest means. Fear of being used only for the money vs. fear of adventure. Hudson and Melody meet on a "blind date" where he escorts her to a fundraiser for Village of Hope. He wants a second date, but she refuses so he figures out ways to be around her (with some help from others at Village of Hope) such as bidding on a construction project and volunteering at other events for VOH and even coming up with some fundraising ideas for them.
After all the talk about the road rally fundraiser, the event itself is glossed over and we don't even find out who came closest to the set time.
I'm also trying to figure out what Hudson's plan is for work after he turns the business over to his sister. He won't have the construction company any longer since that's been given to Carter (unless Carter chooses to hire him).
An adventure in accepting love, even when it seems two are from different worlds. Melody tries her best to not fall for Hudson. Past experiences can affect how a person acts toward another. Both Melody and Hudson have things to conquer. Family can interfere and cause doubt in a relationship. But love will win out. Isaiah 26:3 sums it all up. "God will keep him in peace who minds are steadfast, because they trust in him." Trusting God overcomes the worries. I recommend all Merrille Whren's books. You have trouble putting them down.
Falling for the Millionaire by Merrillee Whren While this book is a continuation of the Village of Hope series, it is also a stand-alone novel that can be read independently of the others. Once again we are reunited with Annie and Ian Montgomery and the other characters from the series. In this story, we meet Melody Hammond, women’s director at The Village of Hope Ministries. Past heartaches have driven Melody to build a wall around her heart to protect it from being broken one more time. Having lost so many men dear to her, she has immersed herself in her work determined to play it safe. “Since Christopher’s death, she had wrapped her emotions in a cocoon, hoping to avoid more pain.” Hudson Conrick is ready to make a life for himself independent of his father or his wealth. Burned before by women after his money and name, he seeks to protect his heart until he meets Melody. “His heart couldn’t resist the onslaught of her beauty, her giving nature and her love for people of all kinds.” He is a true gentleman who with patience and gentleness works to win Melody’s heart. A continuing theme throughout this book is not judging others or making biases based on first impressions. Melody lives a life of regret and fear instead of faith. I felt great compassion for her as she struggled to open her heart to Hudson and learn to forgive. I loved Whren’s message of not judging others, accepting who you are, where you come from, and trusting the path on which God places you. I enjoyed the wonderful cast of characters and the message of hope and love. This book contains poignant scenes, lots of matchmaking, and a sweet romance, another perfect addition to the Village of Hope series. *I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
Readers of the previous Village of Hope books get to know staff member Melody Hammond better in this final story of the series. The story opens with Melody and her blind date, millionaire Hudson Conrick, attending a formal fundraiser for the Village. She immediately comes to the conclusion that it must be the only time she goes out with this drop-dead gorgeous man as it is obvious that they come from very different backgrounds.
Melody is resigned to the fact that she will have no choice about seeing Hudson on a business level after his bid to do the construction on the women’s shelter expansion is accepted. She is determined to keep him at arm’s length and hold him to a promise that he will not ask her for another date. However, Hudson has other ideas.
I very much enjoyed getting to know more about Melody’s story and meeting Hudson. They have personal hurdles to overcome before they can acknowledge their feelings for each other and their faith plays an important role in their growing relationship.
I have grown to know and care for those people introduced to us at the Village of Hope. While this is a series, these books can read as standalone novels. I actually have read this series twice and the first time I accidentally picked up this book before reading the others.
Another great book by Merrillee Whren. This is the third one in the Village of Hope Series and if you haven't read the other two you should. Ms. Whren writes her books so that they can be read in a series or as stand alone novels. I would highly recommend that you read all three just because you don't want to miss anything.
There is a special fundraiser going on and Ian, one of the directors at the Village of Hope asks his friend and millionaire bachelor Hudson to take Melody, the Village's pretty ministry director to the banquet as her blind date.
Melody and Hudson go and have a great time but there is something about Melody that makes Hudson want to get to know her better. However, because of issues in her past Melody isn't interested in pursuing things with Hudson or is she. It is a great story and one that once you pick it up you won't want to put it down.
There are all kinds of twists and turns and to tell you to much more will give ruin the surprises for you. Take it from me, I have read all three books in this series and I can't wait to read more. I only hope there will be more.
Another sweet Christian romance in the Village of Hope series by Merrillee Whren. Melody is a very confident and competent director of the Village of Hope women's shelter and is instrumental in organizing fundraisers to keep the facility running. However she's lost a father, brother, and husband to 'risky' situations, and she lives in fear of any activity that may be life threatening. Hudson is the son of a wealthy corporate mogol who tells his son what to do and when to do it. Hudson lives life with zeal and is eager to prove himself on the job or by skydiving out of an airplane. A fundraising event throws Hudson and Melody together but Melody keeps Hudson at a distance, one he is eager to cross if he can figure out why Melody is afraid to take a chance on him. Will trusting God help Melody and Hudson overcome the wall that separates them from each other and from realizing their dreams? I found this to be a sweet, romantic read and found myself cheering for Melody as she tackles something very risky by the end of the book.
I had the pleasure of reading the first two books from Merrillee Whren’s The Village of Hope, Annie’s Hope and Kirsten’s Mission. I enjoyed them both and could not wait to read the third installment, Melody's Resolve. This is my favorite of the series. I felt a connection to Melody because she reminded me of myself. What she was going through was real and I understood her emotions.
I am giving Melody's Resolve five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy clean and sweet romance. As always, I will be looking for more releases by Merrillee Whren.
I received a digital copy of Melody's Resolve from the author, but was not required to write a review nor a positive one. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Hope, Love, Service, and Romance are threads woven into the page turning Village of Hope series. This reader enjoys this series with an inspiring setting, multi-generational characters, twist and turn plot and believable resolution. In today's world many communities need a Village of Hope (combination of woman's shelter, foster care, and elder care). Foster care, adoption, and elder care are relevant and contemporary topics. Second chances and first impressions are not always accurate are part of this series. Melody shows strengths when she faces her fears. Hudson, as well as the reader, was surprised at the unexpected twist to his career dilemma. Well done, Merrille Whren. A thought provoking and entertaining series.
Falling For The Millionaire a Village Of Hope series by Merrillee Whren. Melody Hammond is ministry director at Village Of Hope Ministry. She comes from a poor family. She is not a risk taker. When she meets Hudson Conrick, who is very rich and likes adventure, like skydiving and racing, she doesn't want to have any thing to do with him. His dad's company gets the bid to do work at Village Of Hope Ministry. They see each other every day and a romance starts to develop. Melody tells Hudson it is over when his para-shoot doesn't open and he has to rely on the back up one. A very good read.

Melody, a director at Village of Hope is cautious about being attracted to Hudson because of her painful past. His love for extreme sports and being a millionaire worries her Hudson is a rich man's son, trying to forget his heritage and find his own way in the world. Can they get a second chance at love? Isaiah 26:3 reminds us that trusting in God takes away your worries. I loved this story about the Village of Hope and how Melody and Hudson learn to trust in the Lord. I was honored to receive an advance review copy and I am giving an honest opinion.
This is a fun story about two people who come from different backgrounds. Hudson comes from a very wealthy family, and Melody's family has never had much in the way of worldly goods. Both have had trials and hurts in the past and need to develop trust in each other and in God to get past these. It is a clean, sweet, easy read, and I enjoyed it very much. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy clean Christian fiction.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This book is a delightful story of two people from different backgrounds, each dealing with their own hurts from the past discovering that when they seek God's plan for their lives that there are second chances for happiness. It is a wonderful combination of faith and romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and it is one that I certainly recommend to the reader that enjoys Christian romance. I definitely look forward to reading the other books in the Village of Hope Series.
This was a sweet romance. I was drawn to Melody as soon as I learned about her fear of risk due to the many losses she'd endured in her life. The story unfolded in a way where I could interpret the things that happened being by God's design to bring them together. Hudson's construction company is hired for an expansion project and Hudson's family plays a role in their relationship. I cheered for Hudson's family's intervention! This is part of the Village of Hope series, however I have not read any of the other books and had no trouble reading this as a stand alone novel.
In Falling for the Millionaire, author Merrillee Whren gives the reader a story of finding trust again after losing hope. I enjoyed this story very much, as we all have opportunities in our lives to forgive and forget and trust again. The true way to accomplish those things is by going to God first and asking for His help in making the right decisions. I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction and who enjoys learning life lessons. A great read.
Melody Hammond's father died in a plane crash. Her oldest brother was killed in a dirt bike accident. Her fiance was killed by a roadside bomb delivering aid to people in Afghanistan. She does not like to take risks. Hudson Conrick likes Melody. When she finds out he enjoys racing cars, sky diving and is a sky diving instructor, she feels there can't ever be a relationship between them because of these risks. Will Melody learn to overcome her fears for a second chance at love with Hudson?

Falling for the Millionaire by Marrilee Whren is the 4th book in the Village of Hope series. It deals with dealing with your fear and trusting. It also revisits some of the places at the Village of Hope. It deals with not assuming things about a person because of their social or economic position. It is a wonderful addition to the series. It is Melody's story.
Falling for the Millionaire is the third installment from the Village of Hope series. This is my favorite of the series. I felt a connection to Melody because she reminded me of myself. What she was going through was real and I understood her emotions. Great and clean read. 5 plus stars. I received this book from the author in exchange of my honest opinion, which was given.
"This is the third book in the Village of Hope series. It is a tale of second chances and the importance of learning to trust God, which can eliminate one’s worries. The pace is appropriate and the ending satisfying" (4 stars @ RT Book Reviews).
I enjoy reading this story. I love that it incorporates the bible verse of Isaiah 26:3 which is an eye opener for when we let fear takes control, we need to remember that trusting God will bring perfect peace.
