Bingo is a very special dog. He's more than just a friend. He's the smartest dog in the world. He rides a skateboard. He plays video games. He catches crooks!
This is one of the movies from my childhood and I have been trying to find a copy of it just to re-watch it with my husband. Instead I get this book to relive some of the moments until whenever.
Fortunately for illustration purposes the book uses photographs taken from the actual film so you are able to see the main characters as they were played in the film. As a result it is a bit of a time capsule for a movie made in 1991 although a rather quirky one. And talking about a time capsule who would really name their child Chickie?
Although the actual writing of the book covers the whole movie and is simple enough for an older elementary age child to read it the tone is what is lacking. Reading this version is like reading the summary of the movie in Ben Stern's voice and really does make you wish the movie was more available.
All in all this will maybe be more of a nostalgic read rather than one you would want to pass onto children of this generation.
