Supernatural Chronicles: The Asgardians

Rate this book
Inga Andersson just can’t catch a break. She’s supposed to be enjoying a ski week in beautiful Åre, Sweden, with her immortal-assassin-husband. Instead, she and Gunnar are trapped inside a bizarre scavenger hunt, unraveling an incomprehensible riddle at the bequest of a mysterious being. And if Inga and Gunnar don’t decipher the puzzle and deliver a mythological relic to a New Orleans graveyard within three days, they’ll be ejected from the Norse pantheon, stripped of their immortality, and cast as the solitary line of defense against the onslaught of frost giants and Helbeasts ready to bring about Midgard’s fall. What started as a party game has become a lethal challenge with irreparable consequences, not only for Inga, but for the god she loves . . . and the realm she adores.

Let the hunt begin.

This book was pretty much the only reason I got the Supernatural Chronicles: The New Orleans Collection. I started the Elsker Saga and this was set in that world with the characters. It's been quite awhile since I read it, and even though I remember liking it at the time, I'm almost reluctant to go back to keep going. I find my tolerance for anything remotely YA has been decreasing steadily as the years go by. I try to pretend that's not because I'm getting older at the same time.
Anyway, this one was pretty good. It was a little more interesting than the others in the bundle since other things were going on besides just trying to get the relic to the cemetery. I liked Gunnar and Inga, and there were a few lines that made me laugh. I'm also a sucker for anything Norse.

This novella was provided to me as an ARC in return for a fair review: Inga and her husband Gunner are joined by Gunner's brother Henrik and Valkyrie Brynn on a seemingly impossible quest for a relic. Their quest and subsequent passage to New Orleans is half the fun while getting the relic without getting killed, then they have to figure out what to do with it. Will they survive the quest or will an old enemy of Inga's prove more than they can handle? It is a faced paced race with an uncertain end for our quartet as we continue thru the Supernatural Chronicles. S.t. Bende writes a winner. I would recommend this novella to anyone looking for an action packed read.

'The Asgardians' was just the action-packed story I was hoping for. Despite being a novella, it was full of all the good things I like in a story: action and suspense, a couple in love, and sweet friendship. Having already loved Inga and Gunnar from Bende's Elsker series, taking this ride along with them made me fall for them even more. Seriously, I love Inga and Gunnar!

Here their vacation is interrupted by an Asgardian emergency, throwing them, along with Henrik and Brynn, into a non-stop quest of mystery solving and fierce action. With dark forces out to stop them, these four have to stick together or the consequences will be dire. I loved this journey and my only complaint is that I want another and another.

If this is your first ST Bende book, you are getting just a glimpse at the fantastic Norse world she's created in her books. And if you are already a fan, then you will love this little gem and some extra time with Inga, Gunnar, and friends.

Side Note: The Asgardians is the first Elsker/Aere crossover. It has Gunnar & Inga, and Henrik & Brynn all together! Another Aere Saga character might just make a guest appearance at the end, too. It's also different from the other stories. First of all, it's a novella, at only 20,000 words, so it's a quick read. Second, this story is part of a collection of stories written by a group of paranormal authors called #Dynamis. Supernatural Chronicles in New Orleans is a project in which each author takes their character(s) on a quest that ties in to one big, overarching #Dynamis story. So each story fits into each author's own world as well as fits into the group #Dynamis world.

This is a novelette told from Inga's point-of-view. Inga was one of the main characters in S.T. Bende's, Elsker Saga trilogy. You don't necessarily have to read that series first, but I do recommend it.

The Asgardians was such a fun and enjoyable read! Just when Inga and Gunnar finally get a moment to relax and recoup, they are once again thrown into a battle that they cannot turn away from. Inga and Gunnar are such a great couple! I must admit, I have a bit of a crush on Gunnar. It is rather hard not to! The banter and flirting between the two had me grinning, like I was in on some big secret.

I also enjoyed that Brynn and Henrik were a part of this story, as well. It was nice to see a little bit more of what their gifts/powers were, and what a great team they make.

Asgardians made me hungry for more books by S.T. Bende. I can't wait to read more books from her Aere series!

I was given an ARC of The Asgardians for an honest review. If you are a fan of S.t. Bend, you know that she is very good at the whole Norse God thing. She knows how to create a sexy God and a woman well matched and worthy of his love. The Asgardians goes along with S.t.'s other stories as a Novella or as a stand alone in the Supernatural Chronicles. Here, we have the Norse crew of Inga, Gunnar, Brynn and Henrick, who have to solve a riddle left by the Norns to save Midgard from being taken over by darkness. All they have to do is recover a relic and take it to the Saint Louis Cemetery in New Orleans. Easy right? Not when said relic can unleash powerful evil. I loved this short story, especially since I am a die hard Gunnar fan. His cheeky humor and love for his wife Inga melts my heart every single time. S.t. has a way of doing that with her characters.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All throughs are my own

Inga & Gunnar - swoon. They are the perfect married couple - except they are immortal Asagrdian gods and kick major butt. I loved reading some background on Inga and getting more of her story. Getting more of Henrik and Brynn is an exponential plus; together those two can make anything.

You get a little love, danger, fighting, mystery all in a quick novella. What's not to love.

I was super excited for S.T.'s edition to the series and she did not disappoint.

"I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review."
That being said let’s get to the review. In the Asgardians I am re-acquainted with the Anderssons. I was first introduced to Gunner and Inga Andersson in Elsker, S.T. Bende’s first book in the Elsker Saga. Though they were minor characters in Elsker they have evolved into close friends of mine.
I will not give away the plot of this latest book, as that is not my style. But I will say from the first page to the last word I was held captive. The inclusion of Brynn and Henrik (Gunner’s kid brother) was the icing on the cake. Brynn and Henrik are minor characters in from Perfekt Order, the first book in the AEre Saga.
I love the way S.T. Bende brings characters from her different Sagas together.
If you are into Nordic Mythology you will love these books. Even if you are not into Myths the stories are heart warming. I hope you take the time to get to know these wonderful characters and the other members of these books. Get to know S.T. Bende. She is a wonderful author with hopefully many wonderful stories to write.

This review will probably be short and sweet, just like this wonderful story. I definitely don't want to spoil any of the plot!

What a fun novella! This story centers around Inga and Gunnar, two characters from Bende's Elsker series-- and could these two be any more perfekt?! Don't let the length of this book fool you, The Asgardians packs the punch of a full length novel while being fun and exciting. Everything in this story served a purpose-- no unnecessary filler here-- and the action was constant. The author's charm and sense of humor shines through, as always.

Bende has a knack for writing strong, enchanting characters, and Inga is no exception. As for Gunnar? Well he is a total dreamboat, that hasn't changed one bit. Brynn and Henrik from Bende's most recent Aere Saga also play a huge part in this novella, and I had a blast hanging out with all of my favorite characters for a little while!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

It's a quick, easy and enjoyable read.

I am a big fan of ST Bende's Elsker Series and her new book Perfekt Order.

This book centers on characters from both series. Inga and Gunnar from Elsker and Henrik and Brynn from Perfekt Order. The characters were sent on a mission that they had to complete to save the world.

It is from Inga's point of view and she is just incredible! She is fun, sassy, and one tough girl. I love how she can kick some butt and still be the voice of reason in the group!

Gunnar is just smokin hot. Love, love, love him in this book. He is fun, sexy, can kick some serious butt and is totally in love with Inga.

Henrik and Brynn are both awesome! Love how they banter together. They have some witty lines and are completely fun.

I hope to see these characters in more of the books to come!

Wow – my favorite of her books so far!
Really fast paced - which I loved, lots of action, no fluff, a few laughs, a few worrying moments, and even a little bit of back story.
It’s all based on 4 characters you know – Inga, Gunner, Henrik and Brynn, so there wasn’t any time spent on getting to know them, instead ST Bende jumps right into the action and it’s go, go, go until the last word.
I was gripped from the first line and had real trouble putting it down to get some work done.
It’s a standalone story, so it works even if you’ve yet to read ST Bende’s other books (FYI - you’ll be hooked after this one…)
Just so you know, I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review (and I so can’t wait to read the next one!)

Wow this book was exceptional it had lots of action like when Brynn and Henrik were fighting, and bickering, the isbjorn a icicle vomiting bear or Gunnar and Inga fighting Ismord the man responsible for Killing Inga's mother. This book is great. The friends trip to NO wasn't easy either with putting the ring in the bowl and Loved Elsa's cameo cant wait for her book.

Inga and Gunnar are on a needed vacation in Sweden until they received a message from the Norn. They must decipher the riddle and complete the task in less than three days or remain in Midgard and stripped of their immortality. Don't forget the rest of the supernatural world relying on them to stop evil from taking over.

I absolutely love Inga and Gunnar and am so very glad we are able to read about them in another story. This also fits nicely in the Elsker Saga timeline.

Gunnar is funner!

An action packed novella that melds adventure, humour, love and Norse Gods together. Thrilling fight scenes, a great story-line and appealing characters draw you along as they race to try to complete their task and help save the world. The humour in the dialog brings a smile to your face and adds personality and depth to characters you cannot help but love. The 9th instalment of the Supernatural Chronicles series is a fast paced read that leaves you wanting more. I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, so I received another ARK from S.t. Bende, and I must say she had definitely done it again. Completely pulled me into her world. My only disappointment was I read it in around 2 hours, and I'm just thinking, "aww man, it's over? I want more!" But that's just how I am with short stories. Still totally worthy of 5 stars as I see it. Definitely action packed, and again full of little trinkets that make you go " oooh, sparkly. I want one!" So Bende I want to thank you again for a wonderful adventure, no matter how short.

Again, St Bende did it! I absolutely love Gunnar and Inga and the role they play in everything!! I enjoyed the fact that we got to see a little of what Inga and Gunnars life was like before they got married (just briefly in chapter one). It still gave us a little more background on this amazing deity couple!! They all worked amazingly well to try to stop the first stages of Ragnarök and defeat a common enemy of Inga's. You have to love the Andersson boys and Brynn and Inga as well!!!! Its a great read and I highly recommend it!!!

I have read a free copy of this story to give an honest review... Inga has had her whole world turned upside down , and has to find a way to keep a promise from her past , and save her loved ones. In this story when push comes to shove she will do what it takes. S t Bende has drawn me in to a story that takes me through a journey that keeps me on the edge of my seat wanting to read more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novella! It was fast paced, with plenty of action and a bit of romance! I loved seeing Brynnik (Brynn and Henrik from the Aere series), Elsa, Inga and Gunnar from the Elsker saga! Once again, ST Bende's writing has the reader visualizing themselves alongside the characters and not many authors can do this. I can't wait for the next book to reach my hands!

Received an ARC for an honest review.

Holy cow this was amazing! Love how much this author packs in to a short story!

I think for this story to truly make sense you'll need to know a little bit about Norse mythology but the author does give you enough to get by on.

There's a great mix of humor, love, etc.

Inga, Gunnar, Henrik and Brynn - pretty much all my favorites!

This novella was provided to me as an ARC in return for a fair review. Great quick read. Inga , Gunnar, Henrick and Brynn are on vacation in Sweden when a mysterious magical glitter ball appears, with a mission to acquire a relic and deliver it to a cemetery in New Orleans . Will they survive the mission or will a old enemy rear his ugly head.

I am so in love with these Norse Gods!!! They have become like old friends to me. I cant wait for the series to continue!!!! Highly recommend !!!

Gunnar and Inga are back in this amazing short story and we even get a glimpse of Henrik and Bryn. I liked getting to learn the back ground of Inga's story and what happened to her mother. #GunnarisFunner so of course any book with him in it is totally worth reading. It had action, comedy and although it was short it was a great story.

As per her usual writing excellence, S.T. Bende has once again come up with a great story. Plenty of action and adventure. The one thing that impressed me the most was her ability to write a short story and yet bring it to a satisfying conclusion. Not many authors are so talented. The Asgardians is a short story well worth reading.

Short and sweet. We finally get some insight into Inga & Gunnar's marriage and overall relationship. The inclusion of Brynn and Henrik, Elsa & Lorana from the AEre Saga didn't hurt either. Add a little bit of action and you've got the recipe for a superb short story. Not sure where to head from here - Elsker Saga or track down the other nine books in this series of chronicles. Hm.....decisions, decisions. Wish me luck.

If, like me, you were left wanting to see more of Inga and Gunnar Andersson at the end of S.t Bende's Elsker Saga series, then our wishes have truly been granted and then some, with the addition of Gunnar's all sorts of fabulous brother Henrik and their Valkyrie friend Brynn in the mix. The Asgardians is the ninth instalment of the Dynamis Supernatural Chronicles series and as a cross-over novel timelined almost parallel to Tur and prequelling Elsker, it does not disappoint.

At the beginning of the novella, we find Inga and her husband Gunnar attempting to get some well deserved (and long overdue) "alone time" on a skiing vacation. However, there's no rest for the Asgardians as they (along with Henrik and Brynn) are swiftly embroiled in a quest to recover a magical blood-covered relic and deliver it to a New Orleans cemetery within two days or they will be trapped on Midgard (otherwise known as Earth) losing their immortality, any chance of returning to Asgard and facing the full force of the dark forces that will come forth. Unfortunately, the blood they need to obtain for the relic will not be surrendered lightly, and stirs up deep emotions and desires for revenge (hinted at in the opening prologue scene) for both Inga and Gunnar that will need to be addressed as they race against time to save themselves and the Realms they love.

S.t. Bende continually manages to deliver fast paced adventures filled with well balanced characters you can immediately identify with, empathise with and cheer on until you are hoarse. The action scenes are fast paced and well described without being overly graphic and keep you on the edge of your seat. The added heart-stopping "will they, won't they survive" moment effectively immerses us further into the story, building the suspense and sense of urgency perfectly. The Asgardians really is a story that covers a little bit of everything: Thrilling and well choreographed fight sequences, a little bit of mystery and suspense, magic, some great banter between the characters, Villains you love to hate, Norse Gods and true love.... what more could you ask for? A great read for any reader from young adult upwards, definitely not to be missed!

There is nothing better than diving back into a world you have been missing! The Asgardians is a small glimpse back into the Elsker world that made my heart so happy! I read the Elsker Saga by ST Bende years ago (loved it so much) and getting to see other characters have their turn to shine was brilliant. There is also a bit of a crossover into Bende's new Aere Series that will leave you curious and ready for more!

Inga and Gunnar are two fun characters that are brimming with life and humor. These two are such an adorable couple and they make a fantastic team. I loved their banter and their passion. Something that sets these two apart from the rest of the other book characters is that the are gods in Asgard. They are warriors that protect the realm and live to serve. Watching these two interact with each other and those from their realm is refreshing and fun.

There are a few characters from the new crossover in this story. I have not read that first book yet, but you can bet it is on my TBR list. Henrik and Brynn add some more fun to the story! You know a bit about Henrik from the Elsker Saga but never really meet him. Getting to see Gunnar's brother was entertaining to read and made me even more excited for the other series from Bende.

Overall this novella is full of action, humor, and a bit of romance. The story is quick paced, taking the reader across the world and into other dimensions to save the both our world and theirs to bring about justice. The Asgardians adds character depth to a few of my favorite secondary characters in the Elsker Saga and teases the reader with something to look forward to in the Aere Series. Don't miss out on the fun!

***I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.***

Why oh why are we given such short stories involving my favourite Asgardian couple? *sigh* Gunnar really IS funner! We’re back with Gunnar and Inga and they’re enjoying their holiday before heading to Cardiff to join their friend Ull, the God of Winter. This is before any of the Elsker trilogy. This is also part of the Supernatural Chronicles that several authors have gotten together to write.

Inga and her husband are on the slopes in Sweden with Gunnar’s brother Henrik and his friend Brynn. They get a message to bring something of value to New Orleans or all kinds of Hel will break loose.

I really and truly LOVE this couple. I love Inga and her devotion to her husband and Gunnar and his love and devotion to her. I’m still trying to figure out why we don’t have several full length novels about them. They definitely get into enough scrapes to fill them. Maybe one day. I really enjoyed this story and as if you couldn’t tell, my only complaint is that it ended far too soon.

Ms. Bende is in the same universe between Elsker and Aere, but she’s bridging the gap between the two with the two brothers. I really did enjoy this short and was sad when it was over. I can’t wait to hear more about my favourite couple in future stories, or hopefully their own full length story. So, yes, I would most definitely recommend this story…because Gunnar IS funner after all!
