I wasn't feeling this story. I think i've read too many stories lately with second changes at love. for some reason this one just didn't work for me. Ken's hot and cold behavior made me wanna scream! I wanted Connor to have a partner that wasn't Ken so..
It has only been two months since Kendall buried his wife of ten years. Theirs was not a love match, in the beginning, but their marriage was solid, and Kendall is feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Re-enter Conner.
Conner bumped into Kendall, not knowing that Kendall was now a single father. He left town because watching his best friend/lover play house was just too painful. But, now he’s back, and no matter what Kendall says, Conner knows that he is less than “fine”.
This is a really sweet romance. It’s a bit too sexy to be classified as such, but even when they were aiming for angsty, sweet seeps in. I think the main reason, is Kendall and Conner just seemed too right for each other to fail. We just had to wait for Kendall to pull his head out of his ass, and accept that Conner had always been, and would always be his soul mate.
And I’m not going to lie…I adored Conner. He was soooo patient. Every time he thought they had moved one step forward, Kendall found a way to push them two steps back. And poor Kendall, try as he might, he just couldn’t keep his hands of Conner.
Readers of Caitlin Ricci and Diana DeRicci will love this sweet story about second chances.
Conner and Kendal were best friends in school and as they got older, they became more. While Conner was always comfortable with who he was, Kendal never came to terms with the fact that he liked men, or more specifically, his best friend. When he got a girl pregnant and married her straight out of high school, Conner left, unable to watch. Ten years later they bump into each other at the grocery store. Conner just moved back to town to help his mom after a stroke. Kendal is a widower with a 10 year old son. This could be a second chance, a chance that Conner has been waiting for all his life and Kendal just now realizes that he has been waiting for it, too. But his fear of coming out hasn’t changed and he is not sure he can do it this time around.
Two very engrossing characters and a sweet love story. There is some angst due to the fact that Kendal can’t admit the truth about himself – even to himself, but at the same time, like another reviewer said, Conner and Kendal are too right for each other to not have their HEA.
Conner and Kendal were best friends and lovers as teenagers, but when Kendal gets Elise pregnant, he marries her and Conner leaves heartbroken. Several years later, they meet, the attraction is still strong, but Kendal won't come out, or really admit his attraction to Conner. There's a few twists and turns along the way, with help from a couple of kids before they get a well deserved HEA.
Kendal and Conner were best friends growing up, even experiencing their first time together. Conner was sure, nothing would stop them from being together... apart from Kendal still refusing to come out to everybody.
To make matters worse, he admits suddenly that he is getting married, to a woman he got pregnant. Unable to stay, Conner leaves town and his hopes for a future together behind.
Fast forward ten years and by chance the two men run into each other after Conner was required to return home. He soon realizes that his feelings never changed, but would Kendal finally be ready to acknowledge his own feelings so soon after a personal tragedy?
Kendal is torn between his feelings for Connor that appeared to have been merely dormant and his duty to his son, Ryan. Somehow Conner manages to break down every excuse Kendal can come up with in order not having to admit his feelings to himself.
Can Kendal jump over his own shadow eventually before Conner gives up hope for good?

A lovely story about that elusive second chance many hope to ever get. You can witness the struggle within the characters throughout this well-written story. Loved it!

Despite the need to grab Ken by the shoulders and tell him to stop being a wuss, this was a lovely book. Then I discovered the author's back catalogue and I'm in heaven with the choices of what to read next. I can't believe this is my first E.M. Leya read...it won't be my last.
Kendal and Connor...Best friends. But Kendal is getting married to a woman and Connor has to leave cause he is in love with Kendal and he can not stand around and watch him marry someone else. He comes back 10 years later and runs into Kendal and he is no longer married but has a son. Things work out? Maybe maybe not read the book. Awesome!
I loved this story, the struggle, how Conner never gave up. Awesome book and well worth it. My first from this author, ill definitely be checking out more!!!!
